Absolutely brilliant place to go - lovely coffee and cake. They also sell the cookery book with all their cake recipes.Staff very friendly and dogs allowed & given doggie treats! We so enjoyed it we went back again for lunch - very tasty Sri Lankan soup and two large slices of bread excellent value. Wish we lived nearer but when we travel up from Kent again will definitely be back. Loved the use of retro crockery and cutlery.

Very small inside. Coffee was good and well made no burnt taste. Chose quiche and lovely staff asked if I would like it warm, absolutely but it was microwaved which made the pastry soggy, not good. Could barely taste the cheese, not strong enough for cheese and onion quiche. Microwaved is definitely not good for pastry

Firsr time visit to Knaresborough opted for Number Thirteen for a break... Very small inside can seat about 8 people comfortably or 6 with dogs ... Coffee was nice and tasty but came in very small cups which were not really suited for a latte at the prices charged. Menu seriously over charging for sandwiches and £3.20 for two bits of toast and a little jar of butter/margarine that just about covered one of the slices... Overall not brilliant , not value for money and too cramped to relax... Ideal if wanted a coffee to takeaway the cups are bigger :) Staff 10/10 though friendly and professional..

While my wife is doing her 100+ park run in a different location, I get to explore the local area. Awesome brew at Number Thirteen Independent Coffee Shop. They just had a delivery from the local milk man too. Great to see small businesses supporting other small businesses ☕️ 💙

A quiet and friendly spot for tea/coffee and cake. I had a Yorkshire tea and the lemon cake which was delicious. The member of staff working that day was lovely and knew several customers by name. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Knaresborough.

Popped in whilst visiting for the afternoon. I had the Sri Lankan spiced vegetable soup which was absolutely delicious. It’s not a massive menu but there should be something for everyone on there (including a fabulous array of cakes). Coffee is from a local roaster based in Malton which is excellent. They cater for vegetarian, vegan and gluten free diets. Prices are really reasonable.

We visited Knaresborough for the first time yesterday and it was a tough choice deciding which cafe to go to. We decided on Number Thirteen upon the promise of ‘the best coffee’ by a local passerby who saw us looking at the menu outside and wowww we’re weren’t disappointed. Yorkshire honey lattes served in unique, vintage mugs and THE best cheese and onion bagels fresh from Manna bakery. What a find this place was!

Not sure why I have not reviewed this yet?! This is a great place! The coffee is great. The cake is great! The vibe of the place is great. It is my “local” and many’s the time I have spent chatting with Sarah (owner) or other random locals about this and that. It typifies what is great about Knaresborough and its community.

The selection of sweet treats is wonderful, including gluten free items, and a selection of coffees that surpass anything on offer in so many other cafes! We found this lovely cafe just around the corner from the market. Stopped for a coffee and so enjoyed it that we went back a couple of hours later for a light lunch. My wife is Coeliac and thoroughly enjoyed the soup and GF bread. Prices are very reasonable and the food excellent. The staff are so friendly and the decor is a clever mix of vintage and recycled pieces. Well worth a visit.

A very fine coffee shop tucked away in the heart of Knaresborough offering a tempting selection of well priced coffees and cakes. Coffee comes from the ever-reliable, Malton-based Roost. We met a friend there and enjoyed a very happy couple of hours over teas, cappuccinos, scones and brownies. All were excellent. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful too. The premises are not large and seating is limited so my advice would be to get there early - you won't be disappointed!

I’ve been to number thirteen many times now, and discussed it with friends too, and always in the best light. It’s a lovely little cafe with brilliant professional and friendly staff. It’s colourful and the service has always been first rate. I couldn’t recommend more. Their food, drinks (I didn’t realise there could be another tea nicer than yorkshire) staff and environment are all perfect. I’ll be honest in that it is a little small, but excellent in EVERY other way. I really look forward to visiting. Their homemade cakes are works of art too.

We had just arrived for a weekend away and stopped of at knaresborough for a walk around and a bite to eat. As we have a little puppy we were worried about finding a place that’s dog friendly, then stumbled across No Thirteen.... the second we walked through the door we were welcomed with a hello and a very friendly atmosphere. It’s only tiny with around 5 tables but we received very food service and the food and coffee was excellent. If I lived local I would be in there all the time! Thank you!

We go every week if possible, travelling about a 15 mile round trip for a cup of coffee. That tells you something. We are always met with smiles and a greeting, which we love. We drink coffee everywhere we go and I know it's a subjective thing, but this (and one other place in Knaresborough) provide unbeatable coffee. I have a BIG mug with three shots and a jug of hot milk. We don't eat cakes etc. as we like to stay nice and slim (?). Except of course for a lightly toasted cheese scone with lots of butter. There is plenty of choice for those who want gluten free or vegan etc. The place itself is very small and very different. Almost everything is recycled or has been sourced from charity shops or similar. One of our favourite pass times is to check out the teaspoons we have been given to see where they are from - different every time. The owner takes environmental responsibilities seriously and it is quite a quirky (hate that word, but it fits) place. I think you will either like it . . . or not. We love it. We went the other day and couldn't get in - devastated!

Found this great spot in Knaresborough when passing through the town. Good coffee, lovely selection of cakes (vegan and allergies catered for!), and a small perfectly formed lunch menu of soup, toasties and salad - all done very well. Visited this lovely cafe today with my Mother and its a Breath of fresh air! Firstly instead of your coffee being served in Mugs or Cups its served in soup bowls with a long handle which is very different and surprisingly easy to lift.Latte is tasty and of good quality and Syrups are availabe to add as is honey which tastes slightly healthier. The scones which can be served as they are or warmed or toasted and are tasty and of different types.Nice decor inside and very friendly lady serving think she was called Selina.Unsure if the cafe has wifi but you can connect to the free wifi from a nearby hairdressers.Theres a reward card and you only need to buy 6 drinks before you get a free one. Will return!

A small and cosy coffee shop in Knareborough run by Sarah. We only had tea and after walking 16 miles it was very welcome. Very friendly team who didn't mind the walking boots that we had done our best to clean before entering. We did not sample the food - but it all looked nice. Appeared that locals came here as the conversation implied that - normally a good sign I would suggest. Thank you

Amazing. I am working my way round the granolas and bircher mueslis of Harrogate and Leeds and this one might have just taken top spot! The granola is delicious, chia yoghurt also, and so much fresh fruit. None of the compote nonsense so many places are providing! My friend had the pancakes which I also tasted and will be ordering next time (preferably tomorrow as I can't wait to go back) as they were so tasty (and not too sweet). The more savoury dishes looked excellent too. Staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly. The kitchen is open so you can see exactly what's going on and smell the delicious smells. The whole place is light, airy and clean. Great soap in the loos too! If I could rate it higher I would. My new favourite place. See you in there whilst I work my way through the entire menu.

After finding out about this new Hong Kong cafe in the Stray Ferret news, we decided to pay a visit for lunch. The menu was limited but boy, the food was exceptional! We had the fried dumplings and the prawn tempura with curry & rice, accompanied with milk tea. We’ll definitely go back and recommend you seek out.

Love coming to cocoajoes! I find it hard to resist going in every time I visit York. The service is so friendly and welcoming. I love the hot chocolates and the cold chocolate option. Honey I'm comb in a personal favourite. I wanted to try something a little different and the person who was helping me gave me options and let me try the chocolate beforehand. An excellent idea and I can't wait to visit again!

Stopped at the tearoom for lunch during a visit to Ripon. My wife had the savoury cream tea. It was the best scone she has ever had, delicious. I had the ham and cheese toastie. This was also delicious, better than any offering I've made myself. Definitely worth a visit.

The atmosphere was chilled and fairly quite. The menu quality ha a variety amazing options to choose for example the latte was £3.20. We had exceptional service from Euan and Iona! The hygiene was 10 out of 10 cleaning service state of the art. The prices are reasonable and not to expensive compared to the other cafes. Accessible wheel chairs is very good they can manage to get in and out to go through a magical a garden to chill out and have amazing time with their drinks! overall very outstanding service and definitely come back and we will look forward to see you again soon.
