Called in here spontaneously while on a loop expedition around the lower half of east Cornwall looking for some new stretches to exercise the dog. Mid-afternoon, mid-September and we were soon hungry. This is a pleasant cafe but we came over ten minutes after lunch ended so we resorted to tea and cake. Quite a selection, fairly priced and OK portions. Better for sitting on the outside benches in the surprisingly hot sun. Bit fiddly to drive down here by the lanes from the A30, easy to get get back south to Liskeard and the A38. We’d probably come again but in time for lunch.

Having checked online for some local food places, this became one I definitely wanted to try. Visiting on a rainy day I imagined it to be a bit quieter, but no, there was still a decent queue. Must be good, I thought! We ordered a couple of baguettes and chose some bits to enjoy another time (sausage roll, pasty & scotch egg!). Total cost, around £20. Service was fantastic. Despite being busy, our food was made fairly quickly and staff were really lovely. Our food was delicious and we both decided we wanted to go back for another baguette at some point ;D

Shame that this has closed and we were so fortunate to get there on the last day before it did. When we saw that it was still number one and also award winning, we had to return and we're not disappointed. We just hope that the other cafes in Lynmouth rise to the standards set for future visits.

3 of us wanted a light impromptu lunch today. The food was nice . The welcome was non existent verging on hostile and any questions to the waitress were answered almost with disdain. This made for a horrible atmosphere and I couldn’t wait to leave . A shame as I remembered it as a lovely cafe .

The food and the welcoming is just fantastic. There's such a beautiful ambience, and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble and there's a wide variety of options for different dietary requirements. And the food itself? First class, cooked to perfection and served super fresh. A lovely selection of hot drinks and the top recommendation: eat in or take away a slice of cake - it's amazing, whatever type you plump for! Photo is of the vegan breakfast, minus the tomato (personal choice), plus extra hash brown and brown sauce. Sets you up for the day!

We wanted to recommend this lovely cafe as not only did we get a really delicious cream tea , but the man who runs it with his wife went out of his way to accommodate us. We were on a short visit to Devon and so excited to have a cream tea - it was late in the day but he kindly put more scones in the oven and allowed us to stay on after he should have closed! So we had warm scones with all the trimmings. He also had a selection of home made cakes so we were able to take those with us . Huge thanks to him for his kindness and to his wife who is obviously a superb baker !

Found this little gem of a place today on our second visit to Bude whilst staying in Crawford Lakes. My husband had the Vegan pie with roast seasonal veg & gravy & I had the Traditional Cornish Pastie with Fries & Gravy. Honestly The Best meal we have had since we have been in Devon & Cornwall. If you want to try a Cornish Pastie in Cornwall then this is the place to come. The coffee was also amazing. The Owner was so friendly & welcoming. Will definitely be coming here again when we return in a few months.

Four of us came here in early November to celebrate my birthday. From the booking through to actual service it was wonderful. You can bring your own wine and pay corkage which we did but ended up just having some of the excellent organic wine from the wine list. There was lovely bread and olive oil on the table which disappeared quickly. I had cured trout for starter, hake for main and a posh Eton mess (my best description anyway). All the food was fresh local produce, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. The most surprising and very pleasing thing was the bill. At around £55 per head including wine and service it was extremely good value for money in this day and age. I would most definitely look to book again when we come to Cornwall next.

Cannot fault the homemade cakes at the Peppercorn. Absolutely delicious, fresh and good sized portions. The vegan lime, courgette and pistachio was out of this world. Lovely people and a smashing garden area. Will definitely visit again.
