We booked Scotts Tap and Keller for my partner’s 50th birthday celebrations, and are so glad that we did. We had drinks in Scotts for 20 people, where we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and had great hospitality. All the staff were brilliant, and are a credit to Paul and the team. Simon had a fantastic birthday and I can’t thank you all enough for making everything run so smoothly on the day, with brilliant customer service throughout. Highly recommended if you are looking for the perfect place to hold a celebration party in Portsmouth! Sarah xx

Decided to take a trip to Portsmouth from London on a whim, and in my search for a decent cup of coffee, came across Hideout, needless to say my quest ended there, not only the coffee was primo, but the Apple Pie Donut was killer. The atmosphere and decor is brilliant as well! I give them 11.½ coffee beans out of 10.

Hidden gem in Southsea! I discovered bread addiction around 6 months ago and I have been obsessed since! Their coffee is perfect, and they have the most incredible selection of pastries and bread! I love their white sourdough and cinnamon buns! If you’re ever visiting Southsea you must visit!

My wife and I went for a roast before getting the ferry to Cherbourg. Place was busy at 5pm on Sunday and had a good atmosphere. The football was on with the volume off. Service excellent and roast & dessert lovely. My wife would have preferred food warmer but fine by me. Spoilt a little when the volume was turned on for the football later on, and IMO was too loud (I am a football supporter but time & place). Dog friendly too.

The Canteen was a truly an incredible experience, not only do you get to relax in a respectfully refurbished, intimate, historical landmark, you get the pleasure of being served by polite and friendly staff. Our server was Euwin (apologise if that is spelt incorrectly) who was friendly and accommodating from the start. He immediately recognised our excitement as we stumbled into the unexpected treat while walking the Millennium Promenade. We were initially shown the main room, which already had us basking in the warm glow of preservation and comfort, but after a quick check, Euwin was able to offer us the more private room that has a sea view and blankets should you get cold. The food was devine, I ordered the Eggs Benedict and an apple juice. I'm not sure if it was because we were on a history high or if it was the view of the sea with ships passing by, but that was the creamiest most delicious Hollandaise sauce I have ever consumed. The Salmon was fresh, the eggs poached to perfection (not too runny and not over done) and the apple juice was 100% fresh. As you can tell, my experience was 10/10, I would highly recommend The Canteen any time you're passing through. We went back the next day for a latte that my partner swears is the best he's ever tasted (I'm not a fan of coffee myself but can confirm he is a coffee snob) and will definitely be visiting again in the summer to trial the ice cream and upper Deck.

Went in today; was super hot so just ordered two coffees to sit in. Place was really quiet but the staff were totally disorganised and didn't seem to talk to each other so had to repeat myself several times. 15 minutes later and still no coffee. Went to the bar and they handed us them in cardboard cups & a takeaway holder. No idea why. Also gave us what looked like the corner end of a pastry as an apology for the delay; weird. My partner went back and asked why it was in a takeaway cup as we were sitting in. All 3 of the staff looked at each other in confusion. Then said they will re-make it for me. Which was weird because that had nothing to do with my question - hadn't asked for it to be re-made, was asking what was up with the cups. Used to come here between lectures when it was Cafe Parisienne. Really gone downhill since. Staff just didn't seem to know what they were doing, so we just left.

Thank you so much to all the staff but especially Prima, always checked on our drinks and food but went above and beyond in making my sisters birthday extra special. We won’t forget this and I will recommend to everyone this is the place to go to. Thank you so much x

Although the cocktails were lovely, the music was too loud and I am dead against the "mandatory" tip you have to pay when presented with a card machine. This isn't the US, tipping is optional and should be treated as such. Nothing against the staff or service but it was average service and, in my opinion, not deserving of a tip. I will not be returning.
