I love this cafe opposite the university it’s such a quirky place but damn the coffee and the various types of doughnuts are sublime, great people always so pleasant and helpful.

Always delicious, creamy coffee and donuts are amazing 😻😻 Always happy to pop in whenever I’m in Southsea 🙌🧡

I think I have been integrated into the furniture.

Drinks, donuts, and atmosphere are great - the best cafe in Portsmouth easily. But service wasn't good. No other customers were in when we arrived, and the staff took four minutes to take our order.

Had an amazing time at Hideout in the past month or so, I have visited it frequently. It is amazing, the staff are really nice and the drink menu is varied and inclusive. I adore their hot chocolate! I also reccomend keeping an eye out for their donuts!!

Coffee and donuts are always the best here and the staff and atmosphere is very chilled.

Came here today with my partner for a coffee and doughnut. Great place to stop and watch the world go by with a good book. Doughnuts were amazing. My only very minor gripe was that the coffee wasn't as hot as I think it should be, was able to drink it all straight away but it was still very nice.

Just phoned to inquire about coffee and my requirements. The female that answer had no friendly customer skills, just a plain "hello" not welcoming one bit with a polite hello hideout coffee. I had to ask if it was hide out coffee. Definitely put me off and confirms a review I read from a woman on here. Not good!

I have been coming for years, recommending the cafe and bringing friends. My first cup of coffee today was luke warm, the second cup which was meant to be a flat white, l am not sure what it was. I was told when l returned it “you can have a refund we can’t please you”. I explained l had been coming for a long time and l had been served a hot flat white with no issues before. l was promptly told that l hadn’t been in before accusing me of being a liar! If my friend hadn’t been given her coffee l would have left. The third cup arrived it was a very nice flat white. However, the angry server made me try it in front of her to make sure it was okay! Will never return.

A pay V60 filter was purchased, and the price was very high, but it’s a nice café.

Absolutely loved the coffee and donuts at this place, and the vibe is exactly what I want from a coffee shop - Punk AF! It's a shame I only arrived 5 mins before closing on a Sunday because I would have loved to have been there longer, but the coffee was killer and the Smokin' Crack vegan donut was so good! Next time, hopefully I can spend a little longer there!

Great atmosphere, staff are friendly and everything is fairly priced. Went in on Halloween, good to see the plans to steal the moon are in effect.

Sadly let down by the attitude by the staff, felt like a nusiense ordering. Drop the attitude girls, a smile would go a long way. 10 out of 10 doughnut but wouldn't return due to the service. It was packed with people (maybe people under 25 don't mind poor customer service!) I'm 32 maybe I'm too old for somewhere like this lol

Just got two flat white coffees to go which I have to say were the worst I have had! Far too much milk , really thin milk just bad! Iced coffee was good donuts were good Won’t be spending money in there again! Too many other places to choose from, and more reasonably priced for quality you get!

Alternative to costa and Starbucks with amazing doughnuts

This coffee shop is one of the few gems in Portsmouth. I especially loved their Dirty Chai. It's arguably the best in all of Portsmouth. It's been a while since I've had one, so I went there today to get a cup, but unfortunately, they were already closed for the day (Sunday). Inspite of that, the barista took my order and then told me it was on the house.

Awesome place for speciality coffee. They have 3 sections: ground floor landing area, garden at back and basement floor. Had a flat white and enjoyed sitting downstairs whilst bopping my head to some OutKast 🎵 🎶 😎👊🏼 … be back again ✌🏼

Really chilled out place with a nice vibe about it. Their coffee grind is great with a hint of bitterness about it, come here whenever I can.

Reasonable choice of donuts, all were exceptional. Great relaxed atmosphere, very poignant message on the board. Now we have tried we will be back. Highly recommend the Strawberry and Lime donut.

The coffee at Hideout Coffee Portsmouth was delicious, and the donuts were equally amazing. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was perfect for enjoying a great cup of coffee. I hope they add V60 coffee to the menu soon!

I love this place, easy to meet friends or have a coffee on my own. The long tables with plants on is great and I like the wall art changing (not so keen on images of people pointing guns at me though!) I pop in when I have a few minutes to spare or to have a relaxed chat. Good music choices too!

not the best experience i had i ordered an espresso and asked what kind of beans they have and the person just told me the name of the blend which gives me absolutely nothing. i asked them to describe the coffee and got a little description of the notes but it didn’t give the impression that the person was knowledgeable of what they are making. my friend ordered a donut but it was burnt and when she came over to ask for a replacement, she was told that all of them were burnt. this is not okay for multiple reasons, and considering that the donuts were like 4 pounds, it did lot leave a nice impression. as for customer service also didn’t have the best experience but i understand that the person may be tired, so i won’t blame them or anything. however, selling burnt donuts did cross the line for me. in terms of coffee, i had an espresso, which was actually not bad, however it was a bit ruined for me due to the above mentioned.

Amazing company! Saved us the day before our wedding. We previously ordered doughnuts from another company to supply our wedding, which let us down last minute. We called Hideout and asked if they could provide us with a lot of doughnuts to collect the same day. They were so accommodating and got the doughnuts ready for us in plenty of time - plus it helps that the doughnuts were freaking delicious.

The staff all changed in there, they aren't friendly anymore. And to top it off, I ordered a flat white and got a cappuccino in a flat white cup! Very disappointed, I used to be a regular but have seen the quality drop. There's better speciality coffee elsewhere. Big shame really used to be a great place.

The chai latte was great and the pistachio donut even better. I went there to work for a couple of hours and it's a good place, but it's too noisy if you're expecting to have meetings.

Not a bad little coffee shop! Their prices are a little on the steep side for coffee and donuts! The donuts are ok but I've had better. Shared a peanut butter and biscoff donut.

The service is not respect with customers

The experience fell short of expectations. The staff member’s behavior was unprofessional and unfriendly, negatively impacting the overall atmosphere!👎

Great coffee, but service leaves a lot to be desired. Have been twice now and on both occasions my coffee order has been forgotten, despite being quiet. Each time I’d have to go up to the counter and ask.

I felt like the staff were very rude and grumpy towards me for no apparent reason. Asked what was in a donut and was told to look at a label which was almost at floor level and when asked if they had a box for a single donut she reacted as if I was asking a totally ridiculous question. I would avoid going there at all costs.

Staff were shockingly rude and unprofessional, especially towards my partner. I hope they receive some extra training on hospitality and inclusion.

Really excellent doughnut assortment, and on this occasion they offered three vegan options. I decided for the classic 'homer' strawberry frosting with sprinkles, which was quite lovely and I also had the ice chai latte with soya milk, which was also very nice, especially because it wasn't overly sweet and contrasted beautifully with the fairly sweet doughnut. The cafe was really modern and had plenty of space; they even had a photo booth!

Looks lovely, but in practice this is yet another specialty coffee shop in the UK that somehow does not serve filter coffee when I drop by. Here they don't make it on weekends for whatever reason, which they are free to choose for themselves - I just wish they'd advertise accordingly, so that customers could make informed decisions.

Best coffee, best doughnuts, best staff, best vibe - I refuse to go anywhere else in Portsmouth. Also buy their coffee beans to have at home! Outstanding, 10/10.

Provides the best coffee in Portsmouth. I use it regularly for both drinking in and taking away. Whatever coffee I have chosen it has always been great.

Great vibe, nice cool environment. Personally found seating was limited despite spaces. We visited at the end of the day on a Sunday. Doughnut choose was limited but still tasted fresh. Coffee was good and quite smooth. Would visit again.

The best coffee in Portsmouth with the best doughnuts. It might be small, and if you're driving past you may not even notice it, but don't let that fool you. It's a fab place to go for a coffee and something sweet. They also sell really excellent merchandise and packs of their own coffee which my husband loves. I think (and hope) this company will expand. But for now, whenever we are in Portsmouth we are always looking for an excuse to pop in!

I don't really understand the technicalities of what makes coffee good like some coffee nerds, but in my amateur opinion I had the nicest flat white I've ever had here today. The Yule Log donut was marvellous too - perfect soft texture with a little bite, melty choc on top and gloriously decadent salted caramel inside. The staff were very friendly too. Can't wait to come back.

Disgusting hot chocolate. Obviously using very poor quality milk and where was the chocolate. Felt sickly after it. Double expresso - I am afraid their machine settings are well below standard. Obvious that those drinking here don’t know how these should taste. Big disappointment. Only good thing were the lovely girls serving. Would not recommend.

My friends have recommended this place, so I went in for a treat with my young son (4) .. I was unsure if it would be child friendly, just on the decor etc (which I love) but I was so wrong! The woman serving was fantastic with him, making a real effort, he loved it. The doughnuts were super tasty !!! We will be Back soon !

We came here specifically for the coffee and can only rate that. My coffee was good but not strong enough. I happily paid for a large size coffee and asked for that to be put into a small size cup and topped up with milk but it still wasn't strong. We also ordered a decaf flat white and a large latte, both of which were fine. Recommend for anyone who wants an extra shot to discuss with the barista on how it will be made but for those who drink a standard strength coffee, it's a good spot. A cool fit out and friendly service. ☕ 👍

I found this cafe when I was looking for somewhere to work quietly in Portsmouth today at the end of a weekend sightseeing visit. The location was good, and the design inside was fashionable. I worked on my laptop for an hour using the cafe wi-fi, and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. The coffee served was excellent. Things were going well until I ordered my second coffee, and a message came up on my laptop completely without warning stating that I had exceeded my alotted internet time. When I queried the message with the baristas, they explained that unfortunately there was no way of resetting this... I was therefore forced to cancel my drink order and find somewhere else suitable to work. It seems very strange to me that anywhere would impose a time limit on free internet usage in the modern age, and given the rise in remote working this would seem to be incredibly self defeating for any business hoping to attract this kind of customer. I'd strongly advise that the cafe change this policy, to avoid losing future customers. I also think it has the potential to disrupt business and communication, so could lead to ill will and resentment, as I experienced today.

Hands down one of the best coffee places ever....and I drink a lot of coffee! Passing through the area on some training and popped to grab a coffee. Coffee was fab tasting, perfect temp (really annoys me when it's far too hot and burnt milk!), This was just perfectly smooth. Everything was eco friendly packaging too so yet another tick! I even treated myself to one of their amazing looking donuts which tasted as amazing as they looked.....I want to go back to Portsmouth just for this place!
