Incredible donuts, delicious coffee and even a pup cup for the dog 🥰

The experience fell short of expectations. The staff member’s behavior was unprofessional and unfriendly, negatively impacting the overall atmosphere!👎

The service is not respect with customers

Great coffee, but service leaves a lot to be desired. Have been twice now and on both occasions my coffee order has been forgotten, despite being quiet. Each time I’d have to go up to the counter and ask.

Staff were shockingly rude and unprofessional, especially towards my partner. I hope they receive some extra training on hospitality and inclusion.

I felt like the staff were very rude and grumpy towards me for no apparent reason. Asked what was in a donut and was told to look at a label which was almost at floor level and when asked if they had a box for a single donut she reacted as if I was asking a totally ridiculous question. I would avoid going there at all costs.

Really excellent doughnut assortment, and on this occasion they offered three vegan options. I decided for the classic 'homer' strawberry frosting with sprinkles, which was quite lovely and I also had the ice chai latte with soya milk, which was also very nice, especially because it wasn't overly sweet and contrasted beautifully with the fairly sweet doughnut. The cafe was really modern and had plenty of space; they even had a photo booth!

For me, this is the best coffee in Portsmouth.

Looks lovely, but in practice this is yet another specialty coffee shop in the UK that somehow does not serve filter coffee when I drop by. Here they don't make it on weekends for whatever reason, which they are free to choose for themselves - I just wish they'd advertise accordingly, so that customers could make informed decisions.

Best coffee, best doughnuts, best staff, best vibe - I refuse to go anywhere else in Portsmouth. Also buy their coffee beans to have at home! Outstanding, 10/10.

Provides the best coffee in Portsmouth. I use it regularly for both drinking in and taking away. Whatever coffee I have chosen it has always been great.

Great vibe, nice cool environment. Personally found seating was limited despite spaces. We visited at the end of the day on a Sunday. Doughnut choose was limited but still tasted fresh. Coffee was good and quite smooth. Would visit again.

All food very sweet, sugary. Could do with plain or savoury.

The best coffee in Portsmouth with the best doughnuts. It might be small, and if you're driving past you may not even notice it, but don't let that fool you. It's a fab place to go for a coffee and something sweet. They also sell really excellent merchandise and packs of their own coffee which my husband loves. I think (and hope) this company will expand. But for now, whenever we are in Portsmouth we are always looking for an excuse to pop in!

I don't really understand the technicalities of what makes coffee good like some coffee nerds, but in my amateur opinion I had the nicest flat white I've ever had here today. The Yule Log donut was marvellous too - perfect soft texture with a little bite, melty choc on top and gloriously decadent salted caramel inside. The staff were very friendly too. Can't wait to come back.

Disgusting hot chocolate. Obviously using very poor quality milk and where was the chocolate. Felt sickly after it. Double expresso - I am afraid their machine settings are well below standard. Obvious that those drinking here don’t know how these should taste. Big disappointment. Only good thing were the lovely girls serving. Would not recommend.

My friends have recommended this place, so I went in for a treat with my young son (4) .. I was unsure if it would be child friendly, just on the decor etc (which I love) but I was so wrong! The woman serving was fantastic with him, making a real effort, he loved it. The doughnuts were super tasty !!! We will be Back soon !

We came here specifically for the coffee and can only rate that. My coffee was good but not strong enough. I happily paid for a large size coffee and asked for that to be put into a small size cup and topped up with milk but it still wasn't strong. We also ordered a decaf flat white and a large latte, both of which were fine. Recommend for anyone who wants an extra shot to discuss with the barista on how it will be made but for those who drink a standard strength coffee, it's a good spot. A cool fit out and friendly service. ☕ 👍

I found this cafe when I was looking for somewhere to work quietly in Portsmouth today at the end of a weekend sightseeing visit. The location was good, and the design inside was fashionable. I worked on my laptop for an hour using the cafe wi-fi, and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. The coffee served was excellent. Things were going well until I ordered my second coffee, and a message came up on my laptop completely without warning stating that I had exceeded my alotted internet time. When I queried the message with the baristas, they explained that unfortunately there was no way of resetting this... I was therefore forced to cancel my drink order and find somewhere else suitable to work. It seems very strange to me that anywhere would impose a time limit on free internet usage in the modern age, and given the rise in remote working this would seem to be incredibly self defeating for any business hoping to attract this kind of customer. I'd strongly advise that the cafe change this policy, to avoid losing future customers. I also think it has the potential to disrupt business and communication, so could lead to ill will and resentment, as I experienced today.

The atmosphere is amazing. There’s so much to look at and the decorating is simply genius. Very good donuts.

Hideout is pretty much the coolest coffee shop in Portsmouth. The coffee’s great, the doughnuts are to die for and the vibes are immaculate.

Hands down one of the best coffee places ever....and I drink a lot of coffee! Passing through the area on some training and popped to grab a coffee. Coffee was fab tasting, perfect temp (really annoys me when it's far too hot and burnt milk!), This was just perfectly smooth. Everything was eco friendly packaging too so yet another tick! I even treated myself to one of their amazing looking donuts which tasted as amazing as they looked.....I want to go back to Portsmouth just for this place!

Awesome coffee, flat white was perfect. Had a couple of their donuts, which were massive and would be much better shared! Great vibe in the place and the staff were super welcoming and friendly.

One of the (two) best cafes in Portsmouth in my opinion - the other is Broadway. I went to this cafe everyday for my recent trip to Portsmouth. They create awesome coffee art - please see the attached pictures - and also seem to use tasty beans. I have tried lattes and flat whites, and they were both great. One can also enjoy cosy atmosphere where one can quietly sit down and do some work as well. The coffee is also great for takeaway but I do recommend to try have-ins :)

The Doughnuts are so rich and indulgent, I had the biscoff which I highly recommend. I've only had the Ice tea which is delicious, but friends have said the coffee is great!

I was told I needed to visit this place and I am glad I did. The coffee was really good as were the donuts. The staff were really friendly too.

Spent £10 for doughnuts, got to the shop which took 30 minutes, to find out they had cancelled my order and didn't offer a replacement. Why are the doughnuts even for sale if there not in stock. Wasted my day.

I'll tell you the bad bit about hideout, once you've gotten used to hideout everywhere else isn't good enough anymore.

A must-visit when in Southsea! Brilliant, lively atmosphere and very quick service. The coffee & doughnuts are just the best! Although don't leave it too late in the day to visit because the doughnuts can sell out quickly.

Purchased 2 donuts for nearly £8. Each put into a large brown paper bag. Asked about a box and was told they’re only for 3 donut purchases. Get home..1 donut is upside down and has lost half its topping. The other is smeared over the inside of the bag. Hideout could do with rethinking their packaging. If you can’t provide the customer with the method to get the item home without being ruined than maybe only do sit in.

We found this lovely, comfortable coffee house int he heart of Portsmouth, near the university. Service was good and friendly. The doughnuts were all excellent, with unusual versions. The coffee was great. We'll plan to stop here any time we're in Portsmouth.

Downstairs is quite a nice place for a coffee and a chat but at street level its just one big bench so not very private if you do want a goss. Its ok tho

Not very friendly...they did not let me no that they close at 4 pm; allowed me to order at 3, 55 pm , then proceeded to chase customers out of the premises. Appalling customer service.

Nice coffee, but not very inclusive. When I asked if they had high chairs the girl who was serving me pulled a face and said "it's not really a place for kids".

The branding, coffee, and doughnuts are great! But every single time I’ve been here the staff seem like they don’t really want my business. They seem like they can’t really be bothered. I feel as though I’m not hip enough to go here? Am I too old? I’m 35. A professional. And I find that no matter what, I get steely-eyes service. The customers make this place what it is, and we do have a nice time but I cannot help thinking it’s because of US. Ie, we chat and joke. But the girls behind the counter seem uninterested.

Outstanding. I had the distinct pleasure of working close to Hideout Coffee over the last three days and will seek it out now, anytime I'm in Central Portsmouth. The drinks are carefully prepared by skilled baristas who greet you with a great attitude. I frequently heard them greet regulars by name, knowing what their most likely order would be and how they like it. Exceptional standard of service. I enjoyed an oat latte and two soy mocha over the last three days and they were all utterly delicious, fine quality coffee well worth the short wait. The aesthetics of the café are for me, just a beautiful as the drinks, with lush green, gold, stone and wood everywhere. I also sampled no fewer than 6 of their vegan doughnuts, each an every one of them a divine indulgence. Everything about this place is brilliant, the staff the refreshments the branding. It's a shame there are only five stars to give! I will be back. Lots.

This place takes the "doughnut" for best coffee in Portsmouth! - I used to be a barista for 5 years and there would always be some employees that made a better coffee than their counterparts, that's not the case here... I've been going here for years and I have never had a coffee that wasn't absolute perfection. Whatever you're doing, keep doing it.
