Andre's Food Bar in Portsmouth

Was recommended by a friend to try this lunch bar, We came here for the good old fashioned school cake waste of money! Doesn’t take anything like how it’s supposed to and soggy inside, my Nan had the white chocolate blonde hers was like stale water , on the other hand the garlic chicken baguette and the chicken leek baskets were delicious :)

Lovely staff who were so kind, nothing was too much trouble. Food was fresh and tasted amazing, also had a great selection.

Have ordered a range of baguettes and cakes from here and always really good quality which taste amazing. The place is spotlessly clean when we go in there and staff are very nice too.

I love Andre’s food bar and have been a customer for many years, not as regularly as I used to when I worked in Southsea. I have watched him build up this lovely food bar since his parents originally started the business. The food is so good. The French baguettes are the best. Always very friendly when I visit and the shop is always clean and tidy. A lovely warm atmosphere with lots of scrummy food 🤗

We were looking for somewhere that served a good baguette and boy, did Andre’s do just that! My fiancée had a tuna mayo baguette, mine was a garlic chicken and salad one…. The member of staff behind the counter was cheery and welcoming, telling us proudly they made their own mayo and prepared all the meat too. Service was quick, despite one of the baguettes being made to order, and the service overall excellent. We will definitely be back! Thank you.

Very good sandwich place and would definitely recommend.Baguettes are amazing with the famous Garlic chicken being my favourite.They also sell pastries,jacket potato’s and paninis.very friendly staff with great service in a very clean environment.

Andre's supplied a work function recently, from start to finish the ordering system worked perfectly for us and Antony was a delight to deal with. The variety of options and the individual lunches meant that our large group were all left happy. Would highly recommend for function catering and will be using Andres again in the future!

Excellent beverages! for a quick cup of coffee and amazing treats and sandwiches, a little bit on the expensive side but the quality of food will be justified.

We have used this place frequently over the Summer for picnics etc and there's a fab selection of baguettes, paninis, salads and more. Always a friendly, professional service and very efficient. In particular I love the Steak panini, but must try their homemade quiches one day. Big thumbs up!

I have just had the most delicious garlic chicken salad bowl from here the rest of the food on offer looked amazing and served by a lovely lady that actually knows what good service is, well done 10/10 from me

First timer. Ordered a bacon Brie and cranberry baguette. Bread was great. Brie was brie. But, the bacon was incredibly salty, with the consistency of tiny rubber beads; which was a disappointment. Cranberry seemed non-existent. Cranberry should enhance the flavour of meat and add zest to cheese, but in this instance it did neither. Budget cranberry sauce perhaps? All sweetness and no zing. Regardless, it was lost in the overly salty mass of rubbery bacon bits. I'm not giving up on this venue though as the food was nicely presented, and the bread was perfect.

I contacted Andre’s via Facebook for advice about allergens in their food. They were very helpful and responsive to the messages I sent despite the many challenges they must be facing in this current climate. I visited today and ordered an adapted version of a standard baguette which they are not generally offering but did so due to my allergy. I had the garlic chicken baguette and it was delicious. Very friendly staff, helpful and lovely food, will definitely be back 😃

Highly recommend the baguettes at Andres...a great selection of fillings. A good variety of other lunch options available too. Friendly and helpful staff. This is my go to place in Southsea.

I normally have a nice large size jacket potato with tuna,cheese (a side salad that you get free with it ) The staff are friendly and helpful and all the food looks Delicious.

Loved Andres for years. The garlic chicken is a firm favourite and I’m delighted there’s a city centre Andres now just round the corner from work. Win!

En general, no estábamos muy impresionados. Esto da la impresión de que va a ser una barra de comida continental, mientras que en realidad es una panadería en una tienda de bocadillos. No tiene nada de malo, pero se sintió bastante caro para un par de pasteles. Los pasteles eran decentes, pero todo el lugar no era realmente lo que pensábamos que estábamos recibiendo.

If you are hungry and looking for some tasty food, this is the place. Nothing is ever to much trouble for the staff. Sandwiches and puddings are always Devine. Southsea and portsmouth brnach are both ace.

Went on a very busy day on the way to Victorious Festival. Thought it would be best to line our stomachs first and remembered Andres from when we lived in Southsea. Ordered a Brie, bacon and cranberry panini from very friendly staff, who, despite being busy were courteous and calm. Hands down, the best panini I’ve ever eaten. Sat in the sunshine, watching the world go by. Bliss

I always go here for the best tuna mayo baguette. I wouldn't get it from anywhere else apart from home.

Ive been going to Andres for years on and off. If im ever in Southsea i make a bee line for the deli everytime. Very friendly staff, the place looks and smells amazing. A Real treat!

I live very close by , and it takes me just 2 minutes walk . I love their quiches and sandwiches . As I am from France , it's always nice to find my roots in the food

I was really looking forward to visiting as Andre’s had been highly recommended. Unfortunately I was then told that they had run out of jacket potatoes which is all I can eat from there. I get that it’s a busy and popular place but it was only 1:15pm. Pretty poor planning really, I could understand if it was late afternoon. They need to understand that not everyone goes on lunch at 12!

Went with some friend to grab something delicious to enjoy on the common in the sun. Lovely atmosphere and great customer service. Had lovely salad with extras and all everyone was pleased with their food and I'll definitely be going back. Garlic chicken is the best !!

We shared two sandwiches and a chocolate straw which were all amazing! Really reasonably priced and friendly staff.

You cannot go wrong with Andres. I have been going there for years (literally 20 plus years when it was La Croisanterie before Andres). The baguettes are always so fresh and so many choices of fillings! Friendly staff too.

First time coming to Andres food bar today , food was amazing and the coffee was lovely best cappuccino I’ve had , super friendly staff Michelle was outstanding such a friendly smiley member of staff and very welcoming , will definitely be coming coming back

I have been buying rolls and pastries when this was owned by Andres parents for over 20 years and was sad to see it shut ! But when it was reopened the new shop looks amazing and the food remains just as good if not better! Friendly and helpful staff and lots of different delicious choices , I have moved out of Portsmouth but still travel the 13 miles for my favourite baguettes at least once a week.

I love this place , can’t beat it for take out lunch. Everything freshly made and delicious 😋 I especially love the baked sweet potato or panini but so many tasty things to choose from

My brother and l went here every day when we were rebuilding a fire escape in southsea,it's not cheap,but nothing else comes close to the quality of the food which is made fresh every day, highly recommend the salted caramel and bacon doughnuts absolute genius

Andre’s is genuinely the most incredible place to buy your breakfast, snack or lunch. They have the most friendly and helpful staff, and most importantly the most fresh, and gorgeous food. Everything in here tastes incredible and for the portions and quality it is fantastic value for money! I wish I could eat here everyday... please open more stores! xx

Best place in Southsea for a easy ,quick homemade baguette with delicious filling. Other options available like sweet potatoes and pasta salad .

Must admit, often pop in here, nice all seasons but especially in the summer as only 5minutes from the beach. Nice to have a fresh baguette made up, plus nibbles with lots of choice. They also do some nice moist Danish for "pudding". Cold or hot drinks to wash down with. I have also had soup from here, in the winter. Sheltering in the car with the wind and rain battering outside : a good feeling!

We wanted somewhere for a tasty lunch and found Andre's had seating outside so was dog friendly too.We sampled the quiche and tuna and cheese panini that were served with salad ,werec delicious and very reasonably priced .We would definitely recommend Andre's for a snack or lunch .

wasn't sure about this one. lovely staff food up and down. garlic chicken baguette is great but sometime the chicken is dry as heck, which gives you the feeling that is has been sitting around for to long...maybe just a bad batch etc. still we will be customers for the indefinite future, a little bit addicted!

My first choice for a quick and easy luncheon. On a Saturday lunch time I just give my boyfriend "the look" and he knows it's time for Andre's!

Where to start... just ordered off the deliveroo app, thought I’d try something new. Well I’m glad I did! By far the best baguettes I have probably ever tasted in my life! So fresh and soft with a little crunch to the bread, the filling was cheese-slaw and jalapeño with crispy bacon. Oh my gosh it was full to the brim and tasted like heaven. I can’t believe what my mouth actually just bared witness too. I have never been so impressed with the quality of food in Portsmouth ever. Will be doing this more often. Highly recommend !!

Best sandwiches in Portsmouth by far. I go for bacon and Brie and it tastes so fresh. Staff are very friendly nothing is too much trouble My teenage son loves it here also and they were so accommodating when they didn’t have what he wanted.

We only ever go here for our takeaway sandwiches - but that's reason enough! They are excellent here.

1 word. Overpriced. That would be if they got my order right. Bread was dry which was made worse by lack of filling which, when you’re paying a fiver, is totally unacceptable.

I popped in here after seeing the reviews on here, I was NOT disappointed! I opted for egg mayo and crispy bacon on a rustic baguette, it was absolutely delicious, plenty of filling and the baguette was amazing.

Came here today for the first time after hearing everyone raving about how good it was. I was so impressed with the options on the menu, the price, the friendly staff, and most importantly how nice the food was. Garlic chicken is unreal! Already planning to come back tomorrow. 10/10

Came recommended by a friend. And have never been disappointed! Have used Andres for the catering for my wife’s birthday party, my own lunches and as of last year they now supply meal bags for large events. Andres food is so nice i love their cheeseslaw. The staff are really friendly and always chat to you. Alwaysss run out of potatoes but it just shows how good they are, really good portions and love going for lunch there.

stopped for a coffee and a savoury pastry this week, it was absolutely delicious, such a warm welcome, staff so friendly, and the food was so tasty, it has to be one of the best fresh food places to eat in southsea, and the coffee was great too, it is definitely going to be my first choice every time, thank you.

Found this gem via google and boy did it live up to its reviews. Lovely staff, lovely food, great coffee and bloody great prices. Will recommend and come back again.

Saw this on Google just off the ferry . Rang ahead and they reserved 2 jacket potatoes for us. I've had literally hundreds in my life and I can honestly say that I have ever tasted! Beautiful quality spuds and great freshly prepared salad with huge choice of toppings. Very generous portions. Lovely little place. Great atmosphere clean smart and relaxed vibe. Warm welcome and great staff. Wish you were in our local London highstreet.

Very cold wintery day looking for comfort food i.e. a bacon sarnie. None on offer so having walked passed this place doubled back for a closer look. GREAT decision. Fantastic food, exemplary service. Other sandwich type bars take note...this IS how you do it.

Wandering around Southsea looking for a bite to eat and came across this delightful little food bar. Husband chose a Brie, bacon and cranberry baguette and I had a sausage roll. He said it was probably the best baguette he’d ever had; beautiful fresh bread and lots of tasty filling. The sausage roll was equally good, warm light flaky pastry and delicious sausage meat. All washed down with a hot cup of tea and a latte.

My Daddy brought me a brownie home from Andre’s last week. It’s the best I’ve ever tasted anywhere! Marley aged 7 (very nearly 8).

This is a lovely, friendly and convenient place to visit if you are on the go and fancy a nice coffee and/or sandwich/baguette, panini, salad, soup etc. The staff are very friendly and the food is made fresh on the same day and prepared in front of you. I would highly recommend this place for all all people; the locals, visitors, friends, family. Get yourselves down there immediately :-)

I regularly visit Andres for lunch. The food is so fresh and tasty I particularly like the sweet potato jackets and the garlic chicken. You've gotta try the rosemary nuts too they're delicious. Well worth a visit

Great Local Service, Great Local Food - really enjoyed the buffet lunch that Andre's provided, loved the little croissants filled with delicious fillings, all made to order and served exactly on time. I visited Andres for a take away sandwich and was appalled by the hygiene standard displayed by one of the counter staff. I would suggest food hygiene training needs to be addressed! I won’t be re-visiting!

Amazing homemade chilli on a huge jacket potato......great value for money.....staff were friendly and were happy to recommend specials.We will definitely return to andre’s.

We stopped here for a quick breakfast and to grab some treats for the train ride to London while on our honeymoon. Every bite was delicious and the coffee was excellent. Andre's is a 2 generation family owned spot with a lovely vibe. The staff and owner went above and beyond to make our experience wonderful. I highly recommend stopping by for breakfast or lunch!

I had my first baguette as a teenager in the pre-cursor to this food bar (La Croissanterie), which thrilled me at the time. I am pleased to say nearly 30 years on Andres food is still as great and the selection has increased.

It was only a sandwich - but what a good one it was! It was shared with my dining partner (in a bar across the street) and was just what we needed for a quick bite at lunchtime.

Recently moved to Portsmouth and looked for somewhere for brunch. We can confidently say the baguettes are the nicest we have ever had, the garlic chicken in particular incredible. The staff are also exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended!
