Very nice place with good food and service. It was a birthday lunch for son with his wife and baby daughter. The staff and owner could not do enough for us.

Good place to drink and smoke rollies. Ernie enjoys pork scratchings and in front of the coal fire on a hot summers day.

I’ve been going to the bagel deli for the 3 years I’ve been at edge hill and even taken my friends and family that visit. They’re friendly, fast and make the most incredible fresh bagels you’ll ever eat. New edge hill students, you’ll be living off this place.

This is such a lovely bar. Great atmosphere and the staff are so friendly and go above and beyond for their customers.

We were given a gift token for afternoon tea here at Christmas and finally got round to using it today, All the staff in the tea room were very welcoming. The place was busy but did not feel overcrowded and was very clean. The set menu afternoon tea was really good and has made us want to come back for breakfast or lunch in the future.

As a longtime vegetarian Wild Root is a little piece of heaven for me as a fully plant-based café and deli. I visited with my daughter and grandson today and started off with the Full Wild Breakfast, featuring scrambled tofu, homemade smoky beans, sweet potato hash, hummus and pesto-drizzled sourdough toast washed down with an Americano. Perfect! My grandson loved the Wild & Seek nature-inspired play space so much he didn’t want to leave. With great food and a lovely vibe, I’ll be back for sure.

I had my baby shower here may bank holiday and just want to say what an amazing venue and place the aviary is, from the helpful staff to the delicious food and service! I Could not fault, also such a smooth booking process. I can’t wait to book again for next year already. Thankyou to the lovely staff that worked the day and night looking after me & my guests. And another thanks to Heather for sorting everything from start to finish. Looking forward to visiting again!

Went on the 19th of April for a birthday celebration. Food, service and atmosphere outstanding as ever and the quality of the meal is always excellent, however, the four out of five stars overall is simply that the portion size is significantly below what I would expect for the price and from previous experience, perhaps it's a blip let's hope so.

Eaten here before and really enjoyed it. This visit was very disappointing. The food items we wanted to order were "out of stock". This apparently was because the menu was in the process of being changed. Alternative food ordered was nice however it took an hour to reach us and came out in dribs and drabs. We eventually found out that there was only 1 chef working which meant that our party, 6 of us, were all getting our meals at different times. The gentleman who was serving us couldn't have been more apologetic so the fiasco wasn't his fault. However if we had known that certain meals were off the menu we wouldn't have gone there but we had already booked it for a birthday gathering.

First time we have bought from the bakery, it was amazing. The bread and scones were so fresh . We bought a chicken and mince pies full of meat they were delicious. Will be definitely be returning

The place was full but luckily a table for us. Much bigger than I imagined for a tearoom! Smiling faces all around, lovely atmosphere, kind and attentive staff welcoming and serving the food. Ohh my hot roast pork was just delicious! The best chips too! All 4 of us had a great meal, full hearted recommendation to old and young!

Considering the place is in the poop hole that is Skelmersdale, this is a wonderfully quaint little pub, wonderful staff thirst-quenching ale, a real watering hole for the squire, and even a place at the back to mount your stead.

What a special evening we had last night. Open event at West Tower in Ormskirk (chosen wedding venue for our son). Dinner on the way home at The Fat Italian which had excellent online reviews and we now know why! Everything was perfect 👌  😋  great value too. Wasn't hard for me to find low carb options either.  Starter was halloumi with chilli and garlic and main course was slow cooked lamb. We each gave the food 10 out of 10. We loved every single mouthful. Warm welcome with a smile. Service excellent. Our waiter Jay was absolutely brilliant 👏 👌 and is a credit to the restaurant. Free limoncello gesture always a thumbs up in our world. Highly recommended.

Met up with family for lunch, the food was delicious, piping hot, I opted for salmon with chive mash, cream sauce and leeks, it was gorgeous and a perfect portion size. My mum had gammon & said it was the nicest she’s ever tasted & my hubby went for trio of sausages, could not fault anything. In addition to gorgeous food the staff are lovely & attentive & nothing is too much trouble. Lovely warm atmosphere. We will be returning soon.
