Excellent service and quality food as usual.

By far our favourite place to eat out ! Extremely friendly staff ! The food is just incredible. We had the prawn cocktail and the trio of meats roast dinner and the vegetarian shepherds pie. We always recommend this place to people. It’s just one of those places where you feel appreciated as a customer and you know the service is always so friendly. In fact writing this review has made me decide I’m going there for lunch !! Best food around in my opinion.

It was our Anniversary and once they knew that, the service was 5 Star, they made us feel special. Our meal was absolutely delicious, from starter to dessert! We are coming back for more,Sunday lunch next. Thank you for a lovely time,meal and atmosphere. 💕

First visit after reading positive google reviews. Food took 50 minutes from ordering to arriving and no, the restaurant wasn't busy. Sunday lunch was warm but not hot and overpriced for the quality. On a positive note, there was plenty of parking space

Visited with friends for a Sunday roast, superb service food was equal to this and the owners were lovely people. Dogs allowed in the bar area which is ideal.

My first time here and looking forward to going back again

We had a family birthday meal for 14 people. The food was really nice, the service was excellent. I wouldn't hesitate to book again for a a large group.

Delicious food - the fresh seafood casserole was perfect, as was the chocolate fondant. Attentive, thoughtful service from Jim, Trudy and the team. So good that we came back the very next night! The highlight of our visit to Southport.

The food was really tasty, my risotto could have done with a little less time under the warming lamps (or whatever they use) whilst the rest of the tables food was being prepared, as it had a skin on the top! But neather the less it tasted very flavoursome. And the crispy poached egg for my starters was still runny! So double thumbs up for that. We haven't been here for 25/30 years and couldn't notice any change in décor, so maybe needs updating hence 4 star for atmosphere. But then again, Master McGraths are still here so "if it's not broke don't fix it" springs to mind. Well done all-round, we had a lovely evening with good food. What's not to love? 👏

You can actually taste the food.

We have dined here a number of times over the years. The meals are fantastic and never disappoint. The staff and owner are very helpful and friendly. Would recommend for any occassion/celebration or just to pop in for a meal. You will not be disappointed. Celebrated our Golden7 wedding anniversary yesterday at our Daughter's with friends a family and thought we'd go here just the two of us. Meal brilliant as we knew it would be and staff and atmosphere great. Would highly recommend.

1st time here and won't be the last I would recommend everything about my visit food was delicious I went for beef roast and a desert was all good and the staff couldn't do enough for you drove past so many times over the years but I will never drive past again 100 per cent recommend on food and price 👌

Title says it all really..! One of the best Sunday lunches in the Southport area in our opinion. We like our beef medium rare and you are given an option of well done or medium rare. Very good quality meat and massive Yorkshire puds. The gravy is epic - I’d recommend asking for a bit of extra gravy if you like it swimming. Sensibly priced for quality food. Will be going back!

OwnerJim quickly introduced himself and made us very welcomed. He was so interested in my story of being paralysed on the floor after a fall out walking. 9 months in Southport Spinal Injuries Unit and time after saw me progress from wheelchair to walking. Jim is a very fit looking man and no wonder after he told us of his Iron-man exploits! The service he and his daughter gave us was outstanding. The food was excellent and was served very promptly. The number of times we have passed on our at least annual visit to Southport and not called in. We will in future. It is no wonder his business thrives in such difficult times. Well done to you all.

Sunday roast is superb, best in the area in my opinion.Three of us had pork, the fourth had a selection of meats. Staff super friendly, never had a bad meal here.

Visited on Father's Day with my husband for a pre booked lunch. All the staff were lovely and our Sunday lunch of lamb was also very tasty. The owner ensures that you are happy with your food and the whole visit was excellent. This was our third visit and won't be our last. I would recommend a visit

Absolutely unreal food and super service too :) we had the prawn cocktail and pate to start (took one home for my sister because it was so good) fish and chips and a roast dinner (beef, gammon and pork) Served by really friendly staff in a great atmosphere ! Definitely our favourite place

The food is normally up to standard here, but after the experience I had today, I can safely say I will not be returning. Usually order the Triple cooked chips, Today we were served frozen chips that arrived undercooked. When we told the waitress she was polite and apologetic, shame that can not say the same about the large bald gentleman who was in charge of front of house. He didn't take criticism too kindly and after advising me that the menu will be re printed to show that they are all frozen, due to the potatoes now being harder for them to get (restaurant is next to a potato field) He then abruptly slammed the card reader down and stormed off in a huff. Very unpleasant experience and hardly what you'd expect from somewhere that considers itself as a fine dining establishment.

We had my son's wake here last Friday. They were so accommodating, buffet was excellent and the staff so good. Well done and thank you Master McGarth team.

Always good freshly prepared food with very wide choice on menu.

Came here for a birthday meal with my Nan. The food over exceeded expectations. The fish and batter were lovely. The chips were amazing. All sauces taste homemade. The sausages tasted like the butchers best and the tempura prawns were hand battered and fresh. Desserts and staff were 10/10 as well. All in all, a very enjoyable experience. Wish more places had this ethos.

After recently moving into the area and having had numerous family and friend recommendations we ventured for our first visit. We wasn't disappointed. Lovely welcome, nicely laid out, and spotlessly clean restaurant. Very attentive and helpful staff. Great menu selections and delicious food. Popular with diners even on a damp and dreary Thursday evening. Highly recommended and will regularly return.

Fantastic service and brilliant food, I started with the omelette and moved onto the pork loin main and would definitely recommend both dishes. Later tempted by the ice cream for dessert, genuinely amazed I could walk back to my car later carrying my food baby. First visit since late summer last year but won’t leave it that long before next visit.

We don't live nearby so can't be described as regulars but we've been coming to McGraths occasionally since it opened (I remember Jim leaving The High Moor). As always the food was lovely. Last time we visited, the place was rammed at lunchtime with most tables taken and a couple of family groups in, so there was a real vibe. This time it was just us, so completely soulless. For the first time ever we opted for the reduced size options but definitely won't be doing that again. For the price differential, as ridiculous as it sounds I'd rather have the full version and leave some if necessary. Nobody is expecting a visit to McGraths to be 'bargain basement', but two starters, two smaller portions and some soft drinks came to nearly fifty quid. No alcohol, no puds, no coffee. We will of course be back but will revert to Plan A.

Sunday lunch for two family members birthdays. The food was excellent starters where a good size and serve well presented mains the same one had the fish an chips gluten free and said she really enjoyed it as she struggled getting it elsewhere the other birthday girl had the venison and pheasant casserole and loved it also, staff where attentive nothing a problem for them really enjoyed our visit. My wife and I went there for Sunday lunch on her birthday. They had found out it was her birthday and as a surprise we were served some delicacies of the chefs choice served on small platters which were delightful. The menus we were given were specially printed and personalised with my wifes name at the top. I had strips of fillet of beef in a Teriyaki sauce served with stir fry veg and steamed rice. The beef was extremely tender and the sauce was wonderful. My wife had roast beef well done and all the trimmings. She loved it. As well as the food the staff were extremely pleasant and always on hand if anything was required which include the owners Jim and Trudy. The final bill was very reasonable and certainly not overpriced. We can thoroughly recommend Master McGraths to anyone wanting excellent food and friendly service

We had a fabulous night, the meal ,a la Carte, Venison and Pheasant, it was delicious Great starters. the evening’s entertainment was brilliant, A really good singer with some disco In between. The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived and lacked much character as a result. We were surprised as we went at a usually busy time. We had to wait to be seated as no one seemed to know we arrived. The food and drinks were fine, but definitely seemed expensive for the price. The Christmas pudding was burnt through and mostly inedible. Overall not the worst place I’ve been, but for the price I would definitely expect more. Even the waitress commented that the price was a lot for 2 people and we only had 2 courses.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas Day lunch. The main course was cooked to perfection and every course was delicious. The service was very efficient, friendly and accommodating. My partner and I dined here on boxing day mainly because I only live about half a mile away and we don't spend Christmas together so boxing day is like our Christmas day. We have visited a few other venues locally over the 3+ years I've been here and most of them have been okay. Why we have not tried here before is something we now regret! From start to finish the experience was outstanding! The staff were polite and friendly and nothing was too much trouble, especially considering I'm a miserable, shorts wearing, scruffy ex squaddie! And then the food arrived... I'm a massive foodie and quite critical but like most folk I've not tried everything I want to try. I'd never had pheasant so opted for the saute of venison with pheasant breast and mash, my partner went for the mushroom stroganoff with a side of crystal bread. Very rarely do we not chat whist dining but yesterday hardly a word was spoken by either of us! The presentation was lovely, the portion size was perfect and the food itself was absolutely divine! Never have I not added salt and pepper to meal until yesterday. I really can't put into words how much I/we enjoyed the experience! The chef even took the time to come to our table so I could thank him personally and what a smashing bloke he was too! I'd told a few guys where I work that we were going and they asked me to let them know what it was like and I most certainly will! Both meals, plus deserts, a pint of lager shandy, pint of inchs cider and glass of really nice port... all for 60 quid! Before we'd even paid the bill we had decided that this will definitely be a regular place to dine from now on. I go to this place about once a year with girlfriends. This last time the food was truly exceptional. There’s always a good choice which constantly changes with what’s in season etc. I had teriyaki beef which was so delicious I’ve not stopped telling people....

Food was lovely, great dinner with an absolutely amazing chocolate fondant for dessert. It was a cold day but did seem a little chilly inside & people had coats on!! WiFi was also very patchy, but you probably didn't need to be distracted from the food really, it was only as I was trying to follow the football!

Extremely friendly place used by the local residents as there local lovely woodburning fire ,real ales ,lovely decor ,great range of locally sourced food as described by the large chalk board even stating that your local spuds were picked by Ann and your fish was responsibly sourced locally can't get more eco sourced than that

Not been for awhile - and the wife fancied it. Im disappointed on reflection - food tasted excellent - my gripe is the quantity . Opted for the Mushroom stroganoff with added fillet steak (+£5) on an already £15 dish . Lucky - if there were 2 mushrooms in the dish, and I got a whole 3 pieces of fillet steak in it, too. 6 green beens and a pot of rice . Had I known I was having finedining sized portions, I would have had a starter ! We also waited 20 mins for our order to be took-surprised as it wasn't over busy . Used to be spot on here - good prices -good sized portions, but like a Mars bar, its size has shrunk whilst prices rise.Wifes meal wasn't much better and again £20 I'm sure the owner will defend it ! Shame really - we used to enjoy it here-but I won't be back again .

Jim and Trudy were the best hosts we’ve had. Our meals were exceptional, budget friendly and the bar was well stocked. Jim went above and beyond for us as we were new to the area. Will definitely be returning in the near future.

Just been for lunch with friends very disappointing could of had better food in supermarket cafe. We all chose toasties, one friend has dietary requirements the other is vegetarian. Only option for veggie was the gammon and cheddar without the gammon. Both friends requested brown bread I had the crystal bread which was only a small ciabatta. All fillings very sparse it was a case of spot the cheese, the brown bread was hardly toasted and looked like supermarket value bread. Two of us had the steak and caramelised onions (one without onions for dietary needs) again very sparse it was very small and sliced as thinly as piece of bacon. Only enjoyable bit was the chips served with it which were hot but a bit thin and crispy! Whole appearance of food vey bland and unappetising . Waitress was very pleasant but we did tell her of the issues which she said she would pass on the the chef but no feedback was offered. Charged at full cost despite no gammon on one toastie. We would of had desserts but wasn't wasting money in case they were of same standard, didn't even have coffees which we would normally do. Outside area is lovely and flower display fantastic but that appears to be the priority not the food. Won't be going again!
