O'Briens Tea Rooms in West Lancashire

Called in as I usually have lots of times in the past to purchase a take away meal of Feta Cheese Salad. On the last occasion I noticed there wasn't a lot of feta cheese and I mentioned it when ordering today. I also asked what the dressing was as it was very nice. I got home with my meal and when I opened it I was so disappointed to find the feta cheese was cut into tiny pieces and amounted to even less than the last time. As a result I removed all the pieces and weighed it and it weighed just 3/4 oz or 21 grams. I have always recommended O'Brien's as a great place to eat as the food is so good and such good value. In fact as I sat waiting for my meal the food coming from the kitchen was spectacular. I admit it has upset me, and more so when I rang to complain and just got a sorry from whoever answered my call. Eventually I was passed onto the ' Manager ' called Gary who said he wasn't the manager and was reluctant to say who he was. In the end he said he was the person in charge that day. He didn't seem to know how to react to my complaint, maybe because he is not used to getting any and I truly get that, because I have never had any reason to do so in the past either. He asked me to bring it back to which I declined because I was at home, then he offered me a refund and asked for my card details. The phone I went dead so I had to call back and it was just passed off by one of the staff as I had been accidently cut off. Although I heard his voice in the background the person who had answered me asked for my card details, took them and said the amount of £7.95 had been refunded and she said sorry... No sincerity in the apology and Gary she said was the owner..Wow why was he not upfront about that eh?

Beautifully prepared hot food.Go regularly as we enjoy it so much.All day breakfasts are varied and worthy.Specials board which changes regularly .Excellent cakes and Mrs Dowsons ice cream.Good gluten free menu.

Incredible food at incredible prices. We like Ormskirk, and visit my brother when we come up. We had our favourite place for brunch, but found they were becoming a little expensive, so decided to look elsewhere. We had seen O’Briens in the past, but whilst we like the menu, we were a little out off by the surroundings. but when we came up in December we decided to give it a go. It’s basically a big hall, (bit like a wedding venue) with tables of varying sizes. Can’t say we were impressed, but in we went. We were allocated a table by one of the waitresses (it’s incredibly busy) and given the menu. Yesterday it was very busy and the only tables they ad were big round one ‘to share’. Not an issue and we sat in a table that could take 9, but no one else joined us, It’s extensive,and the prices very attractive. The waitresses take your order and you get your drinks in really quaint teapots and bone china cups. In December, I ordered the eggs Benedict. I thought knew what to expect so I was very surprised with all the extras. Yesterday I orders the scrambled eggs with bacon. So, so tasty. You get a salad, and crisps. The plate is chocka. The scrambled eggs are deep yellow and creamy. When I had the eggs Benedict the ham was thick and cut off the bone. Have I mentioned the bread? The bread is incredible, and hand sliced. It’s easy an inch, an inch and a half thick. Brown or white. The waitresses, who give you a massive pot of tea will top it up with boiling water, and there is a good choice of tea types. They sell cakes. Wonderful, increbible cakes. Cakes that look simply great, but we haven’t gotten around to them yet as we are so full by the time we have eaten brunch. The waitresses know their job, and move fast. Extremely well trained and it’s a delight to watch them work. Never returning to the kitchen without a plate. The clientele is old, I was the youngest by far.n Nothing wrong with that, they have sense and know that good food at incredible prices is more important than anything. The main thing is that they were with their friends or family members and all eating great food at silly prices. I think I paid £6.96 for my meal yesterday. Worth every penny. It’s definitely not the trendiest place to eat but there is a good atmosphere with super food, well trained staff and a chatty atmosphere. Cannot recommend highly enough. Every town should have one!

Went hear during the day and was welcome by a lovely waitress her name was priscila she was so welcome and made me fell settled she showed me to my tablet and gave me the menu and said will be back to take my order she came back amd was so productive and professional at her job showing customers and helping around the cafe even ask if my food was OK the service she gave was fantastic I did notice that some of the other staff wear nit doing much as her she was running around and I over heard so staff talking to her like she was not liked not she if the lady was the manager but seemed very unprofessional towards priscila and it look like priscila looked upset and uncomfortable what was being said about her anyway she was a lovely girl and dose a great job and is a asset to the cafe

We don't live in ormskirk, but try to eat here at least once a month. Never disappointed, all the food we've had, has been lovely. Service is spot on too. Excellent.

Old fashioned in a good way. Was very busy on the afternoon I popped in, but service was quick and professional. Loved my seafood platter, and other food coming out looked great too. I'll definitely be back.

Today I joined a few friends in O'Brien's in Ormskirk, where I treated myself to the first Eggs Benedict I've had since before Christmas. And the thickness of their toast was astonishing (not to mention how delicious their poached eggs were). So I'll be doing that more often, I think. I read that the late Michael Mosley once said that a man should find a purpose in life during his Golden Years, or he'll fade away and die. So my purpose now is to get out more, be active, travel, and get back to my old happy extrovert self. Not easy for a grumpy old sod like me, but I'll give it my best shot. Exceptional, there was 32 of us for afternoon tea celebrations for 1st Holy Communion, finger food was stunning, cakes were sublime and id recommend the cheese and onion quiche, service excellent

We called in for lunch. Tasty sandwiches and plenty of tea. My only gripe is PLASTIC table clothes. I hate them and made the place feel cheap, which it doesn’t deserve. Would certainly come again.

Stumbled across this and what a place. Gluten free menu 😋 had lasagne with salad and garlic bread. Absolutely delicious. Staff and service outstanding. Thank you.

Visited these lovely tea rooms on a brief visit to Ormskirk. 3 of us were led to a large round table and were quickly served an all day breakfast with the chunkiest bread I’ve ever seen 😂. Breakfast was lovely, and the young blonde haired lady who served us was extremely polite and welcoming Unfortunately we didn’t have room for the amazing cakes we saw! Definitely need to come back!

We often pop in for a bite to eat as it's conveniently closed to good parking and has easy access for wheelchairs, walking frames and prams. The food is always well prepared at reasonable prices and the staff are friendly and efficient. We were also surprised that they were hosting an art exhibition by local artists. It's refreshing to see a local business supporting local artists. Worth a visit for coffee, cake and now culture.

This is a regular visit for us. The good is lovely. Prepared as it's ordered, not sitting round being kept warm. Generous portions at very reasonable prices. Don't look for airs and graces, but it you enjoy good, home cooked food in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, you can't do better than O'Briens.

This is a popular venue in the centre of Ormskirk with a reputation for good food and friendly staff. Highly recommend this establishment.

As usual, a wonderful afternoon with exceptional food, great menu choice, fantastic staff who go above and beyond and work so hard. Atmosphere here is so welcoming and you are always sure of a great dining experience. Thank you to all the chefs, waiters and waitresses. Couldn't be beaten.

Brilliant Tea Rooms. Varied menu. Great for lunch or afternoon tea or just to drop in for a cuppa. Well worth a visit. Exceptional value for money. Huge portions. I would say the best Tea Rooms in Ormskirk. Staff are polite and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. I would recommend you book a table particularly on Thursday Market Day or you may be disappointed.

Arrived at the venue for a 12.30 booking, table was dirty and wet from previous customers, asked for the table to be cleaned handed a piece of blue catering roll, so we cleaned our own table, sat for nearly 20 mins without being asked what we what to drink no menu’s given to us, waitress came over to get our order she then realised that we hadn’t had a menu or ordered drinks, she took our drinks order and got us some menus she duly brought the drinks, a short time later she came and took the order, then we waited and waited for the food after being in there for nearly an hour, the food came out, food was fine home cooked chips and homemade coleslaw. We then asked for the bill twice before it was brought over. Will be a while before I return due to the very poor service.

O'briens is a lovely tearoom in Ormskirk, West Lancashire. I have been there many times, both with my husband and a friend. They do breakfasts and lunches. They cater for large groups, couples and just individuals. Their menu is varied and they cater for vegan and gluten free.

Fantastic food, very tasty, big portions, value for money, great service. We try to go at least once a week it's that good.

I have had 4 meals here in Ormskirk's gem and the food is delicious. Every time the plate has been put before me, I have gasped out loud at the quantity and presentation. I tried the cakes twice, but for me they looked better than they tasted. So I'll just stick to the fantastic savoury food! It's a popular place and you can reserve a table. Right opposite Morrison's, so handy for car parking too.

Went with my wife and two girls for my birthday. I had the large breakfast, my wife had poached eggs my girls had eggs benedict and waffles with banana and crispy bacon. Every thing was delicious. The staff are very friendly. Very reasonable price's, I can highly recommend.

They have lovely bread, bacon and eggs. The sausages were not as good as quality, but for a fiver you can't really complain. Looks like they do a good eggs Benedict. Edit: On my last visit, we went for lunch and sweets. Had some very nice sandwiches, chips and sundaes. 2nd Edit: Had some lovely eggs Benedict

A good party of 20 odd people and the staff dealt with it admirably.

Luckily our friends had prebooked a table, as folk were queuing at the door to get in! Prompt, efficient, service and an excellent meal. Only regret being that we were too full to be able to get a slice of the wonderful cakes on offer. I was completely spoiled for choice, anyway. Will definitely be going again.

Went for an Ormskirk lions club Sunday lunchtime and had a super meal and the service was great.

The best place I have ever eaten at. You get the best of everything, nothing is to much trouble from the staff, it's what you need when you go out for a lovely meal. Getting treated as you expect.

Our first visit yesterday and will definitely be back. Excellent service on a very busy day, food was freshly prepared and extremely tasty and good value, didn’t need anything to eat for rest of day! Staff very pleasant and welcoming. Can’t wait to go back and sample some more delights from their varied menu.

Staff are exceptional lovely friendly can't do enough and care so much for the customers A good choice on the menu we changed our minds so often then noticed all day breakfasts which was excellent 👌 even the lovely butter spread easily over the thick cut brown bread all ingredients were spot on and cooked just right there was a lovely ambience in the room so relaxing even a little girls birthday cake arrived everyone joined in so good we booked for the excellent afternoon tea which we are very much looking forward to five stars easy thank you all for a lovely afternoon

Staff were friendly and on arriving - about 1pm - took us to a table straight away, but we were waiting 20 minutes for someone to take our order. Ordered 2 drinks and 1 slice of cake, cake arrived but drinks were another 10 minutes later. I ordered carrot cake, which the sponge was nice but the icing tasted slightly of garlic? Not sure why. The restaurant wasn't overly busy even though it was lunch time, so I'm not sure why the long wait to order? Would perhaps return at a different time to see if this was just a one off, and maybe try a different cake.

Went with a friend for Hugh tea which was very yummy. Went into toilets which had an advert for weight watchers. Not a message I wanted to see at that time after a lovely treatv
