Short review as found nothing wrong, in fact todays visit was only a day since I was last here, I returned to try out one of this weeks specials, which I noticed after I'd already ordered. As I was pleased with my original choice, I decided to return for the Moroccan Mutton flatbread, and was not disappointed. The staff are attentive and friendly (but working in one of the nicest areas of Cumbria) the café is comfortable and welcoming. All the food is locally sourced, which to me is important. it has an amazing shop where locally made gifts can be purchased, that includes local meats Oh and if lucky you can share your cake with a local robin

I would highly recommend Moresby Hall. The owners were extremely accommodating and went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. I am a wheelchair user so was concerned about the actual accessibility of this grade 1 listed building. However they exceeded our expectations, having a designated, very well thought out, accessible apartment on the ground floor with every possible aid needed. Not only that but it was beautiful and we very much enjoyed our stay. Jane and David the owners were very welcoming, approachable and friendly, and they even made a amendment to the front door as my chair caught on a part of it. Breakfast was really nice, having a great selection to choose from and hot food made to order. One of the best breakfasts I’ve had and it felt much better than the buffet style English breakfast. The weekend went by very fast and I’d have loved to stay longer. Would highly recommend this beautiful hall as you won’t be disappointed.

Due to lockdown restrictions, Truly Scrumptious has a delivery service, so this was ordered by phone, rather than a visit to the shop. Their cream tea selections are amazing! My sister ordered this for mother's day - and since we haven't seen her since October 2020, she treated me, too! Delivery was within a 2-hour time slot, and arrived in good time. Definitely recommended.

My wife and I ate here on a busy Saturday night and the following Sunday. Staff were very friendly and service was very good, we did not have long to wait for the freshly prepared food, from a menu that catered for most tastes. The surroundings were clean, pleasant and relaxing in this traditional Inn. All dishes were well presented and tasted lovely. Brook house Inn ticked all our boxes, we won't hesitate to eat here again when in the area.

After a day visiting family, we stopped here for dinner. We were made very welcome, and provided us with a excellent meal. Cost was reasonable, portion size generous, and we really enjoyed the meals.

Disappointed. For my husbands 60th birthday family dinner, whilst away in The Lakes. We read reviews on here, and the photos of the food looked good. Our experience was very different. We'd tried to book a table for 8pm. To learn that the kitchen shuts at 8pm, so they gave us one for 7 45. On arrival, there was no one to show us to our table. One young chatty lady working the bar, which meant 3 people waiting was a long wait. I managed to get the attention of a waitress, of which there were 2 for the entire pub. She was very nice and showed us to our table. We were urged to order our food 'at the bar' quickly, as the kitchen closes at 8. We all rushed our choice, and then I went to order, I was stuck behind 2 other customers before I could order. I asked if this would be a problem, and the reply was, you'd better hurry the kitchen closes. That's what I was trying to do... but 1 bar staff was ridiculous. All the while, an in charge looking man flitting around. It would have been helpful, instead of warning the waiting people time was ticking, if he'd have just taken the orders and helped the girl. When we did finally order, we had people behind us queuing, we were feeling pressured. My husband asked for a Bitter with a Guiness top (a popular drink in Ireland), the confusion on the bar staff's face and the discussion on how they would charge for it. Computer says no. The manager (the floaty, sullen one) was just rude... Basil Faulty rude. My husband said in a friendly way, "you should try it" the man with distain said "I won't" Getting onto the food.Cilli natcho's - burnt, tasted burnt. 8oz sirloin steaks. They were not 8oz. 6oz maybe. Overcooked certainly and it was just bland. Extremely disappointing and underwhelming. The waiter had also switched mine with my husbands, I'd even asked him... he had no clue. My sons schnitzel was dry and overcooked. We were never asked how our meal was, waiter was literally bringing out food and collecting plates. No service training. All in all, dont bother with Faulty Towers. It was dreadful. Miserable experience fir my husbands 60th. Never mind

The reception at the bar was one of the worst experiences I’ve had, we was out for a special occasion and the bar staff was derogatory, rude and a very odd character. He was very lethargic serving and served me a drink with what I’m sure was a dirty glass and asked me comments if I could afford a double gin at 7 pound as I’m sure he could tell we wasn’t local! We had spent around 100 pound between us at the bar for him to come out and start laughing with which looked like his friends to then belittle our friend on her birthday because she had an open can of pop from our previous walk and came over and snatched it off the table. He Seemed he was showing off to his friends as he kept looking at them for validation. Safe to say we will not be returning, it is not nice place very uninviting hope this comment gets through to the individual who ruined our experience entirely.
