Short review as found nothing wrong, in fact todays visit was only a day since I was last here, I returned to try out one of this weeks specials, which I noticed after I'd already ordered. As I was pleased with my original choice, I decided to return for the Moroccan Mutton flatbread, and was not disappointed. The staff are attentive and friendly (but working in one of the nicest areas of Cumbria) the café is comfortable and welcoming. All the food is locally sourced, which to me is important. it has an amazing shop where locally made gifts can be purchased, that includes local meats Oh and if lucky you can share your cake with a local robin

After a day visiting family, we stopped here for dinner. We were made very welcome, and provided us with a excellent meal. Cost was reasonable, portion size generous, and we really enjoyed the meals.

Lovely friendly independent cafe based in the church at Frizington. When we went we had booked because it gets packed out by local residents. My friend is local but I was visiting . We ordered tea for two and a lovely big pot with China cups and saucers arrived. More hot water to top up the pot no problem ! My friend had a delicious ( massive) omelette , salad and chips. I had the steak pie ( gorgeous gravy) , vegetables and again the wonderful home made chips ( best ever) . Crumbles or ginger cake with custard for dessert. I just loved the lively atmosphere . So great to see a place thriving in the north west lakes. A real hidden gem.

I would highly recommend Moresby Hall. The owners were extremely accommodating and went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. I am a wheelchair user so was concerned about the actual accessibility of this grade 1 listed building. However they exceeded our expectations, having a designated, very well thought out, accessible apartment on the ground floor with every possible aid needed. Not only that but it was beautiful and we very much enjoyed our stay. Jane and David the owners were very welcoming, approachable and friendly, and they even made a amendment to the front door as my chair caught on a part of it. Breakfast was really nice, having a great selection to choose from and hot food made to order. One of the best breakfasts Iâve had and it felt much better than the buffet style English breakfast. The weekend went by very fast and Iâd have loved to stay longer. Would highly recommend this beautiful hall as you wonât be disappointed.

Due to lockdown restrictions, Truly Scrumptious has a delivery service, so this was ordered by phone, rather than a visit to the shop. Their cream tea selections are amazing! My sister ordered this for mother's day - and since we haven't seen her since October 2020, she treated me, too! Delivery was within a 2-hour time slot, and arrived in good time. Definitely recommended.

Edit: been a few times and everything just keeps getting better! First time visiting the venue which is very smart and well spaced, there won't be any accidental elbow touching here. We went for the afternoon tea, which was massive and to be fair, very tasty. The scotch egg and sausage roll were great and the chicken and quiche also very good. After getting beyond those I was struggling! With three puds it was clear I would never be able to finish it all. I ate the scone which was pretty good. Not the best, but decent. The brownie and lemon posset had to come home with me in a box! Overall it was very enjoyable, although I'm not sure we can really call it an afternoon tea! In my opinion, they could easily have removed the chicken and posset and added in a small finger sandwich or two. The result would still be a very non-traditional afternoon tea, but it might have been close enough to call it one. There really should at least be a nod to cucumber somewhere in there Edit: paid another visit and went for regular menu items. The meal was lovely, a bit different and still generously sized. At lunchtime, with three of us eating, none of us actually managed to polish of our meal! The star of the show was the Thai curry, probably about as good as it gets outside an actual Thai restaurant

Breakfast was good but dinner service fell well below what anyone would expectđ© booked our table for 7.30pm and ordered our meals at around 7.45pm. After 45 minutes asked the waiter/reception/ Barman when we could expect our meals, and he said they were on the way and wouldnât be long. My husband, sister and brother in law followed this up over the next hour and were told that we had been informed when we booked it was going to be 1 hour! If that was the case we wouldnât have booked and driven to one of the other eating places. Finally after 2 + hours I asked again and after another 10 minutes 1 meal and one side arrived! We canceled the rest of the food . As I am diabetic I needed to eat something as I was feeling lightheaded and nauseous and ate some of the side dish. In all we waited approximately 2 + hours after we ordered and paid for our meals. Obviously the worse dining experience any of us had endured. Could not recommend this place to anyone.
