We stayed at the camp site next door so came here for some tea , a few tables in the windows were reserved ,so sat further back , we ordered at the bar and the was quite shocked at the managers attitude but passed this off , we were with fiends one of whom was quite deft , so in the middle of his phone call the manager came over and asked us to keep the noise down !! Ordered food which was very over priced and quite awful !! Before we left the manager took the reserved signs off the tables in the window which annoyed me as no one had even sat in them !! The manager needs to get another job as his hospitality skills are none existent!! Who give this man a customer based job ! Felt sorry for the 2 young bar staff as he was the Same to them !! I have worked in a lot of hospitality jobs and this man’s attitude and customer skills are none existent !!!!!

Recommended by my B&B host. Lovely pub with a great selection of ale/lager/cider. Comprehensive menu with all the classics. Had the lasagne, not a traditional lasagne (think lots of tomato sauce & cheddar cheese) but absolutely delicious none the less. Very popular with hikers/walkers, solid good quality fare!

Very disappointing visit! Our girls had loaded nachos to start which were horrendous, not ‘loaded’ at all and half of them were burnt. We all had Sunday roast, 3x beef and 1x gammon, all the meat was very fatty and was served after an hour and 15 minute wait. No one asked how our meal was, not even at the time of paying. We found the Sunday roasts very dry and asked for extra gravy. Definitely over priced for the amount of food we received and the quality of it. There was also a lack of customer service. Will not be returning!

The refurbishment was lovely first visit since it was completed. New staff since last time we visited , still as miserable and unfriendly . I asked if possibility if.a turkey sandwich as turkey on lunch menu. NO. Was the answer, No sorry we don’t do sandwiches or anything else. Very uncomfortable in a service industry , no service or pleasantries. Hence we had nothing to eat. And won’t go back In A hurry . We are local so won’t recommend anyone else to go either.

First time in the area so thought we would try the Bridge Inn for tea. First off we ordered a drink at the bar but ignored for 10 mins before it was taken. We then ordered Our meals and they were awful. I had the chicken/bacon sandwich which came with no coleslaw(obviously forgot) side salad (just lettuce & peppers) Bread was hard. Chicken was dry and bacon was as tough as old boots. No courtesy check to see if food was ok. Seemed a popular pub but that’s obviously because there’s nowhere else for miles. Overpriced pub grub.

Called here for an evening meal whilst being in the area. The menu was small, mostly specials - but outstanding in its hearty goodness! I cannot praise the chef enough. Both the main and the desert were a masterpiece. Each was brought to the table by the cook and was placed in front of the diner with obvious and justifiable pride. The place itself was a little run-down - but I understand this is in the process of being rectified. Having read the comments of other reviewers regarding the hospitality of the 'Bar Manager', I can understand their comments. He was a little cold and standoff-ish. Perhaps he was just feeling his feet in the licenced trade. Nevertheless a pleasant experience which I shall endeavour to repeat when next in the area.

Had a lovely lunch here two years ago when we were last in the Lakes and we were looking forward to our return. We were very disappointed. I went to the bar to order, the bar manager (Humphrey?) did not greet me, did not ask what I wanted and generally looked totally fed up that he had to put himself out serving me. The food was merely average When I went to settle the bill all Humphrey did was put the bill in front of me and proffer the card machine. There was no enquiry as to whether we enjoyed our meal, no thank you for our custom, once again I felt that it was all too much trouble. In addition when we were there two years ago the lock on the disabled loo was faulty and the door could not be locked. Two years on and it is still not fixed. I can assure you that it is bad enough being disabled without worrying that someone may barge in while one is using the loo.

The food was extremely average (and below average in part). Frying oil was overused, the burger was overcooked and dry, salt-and-pepper squid (specials menu) tasted like it was from a freezer bag, and the one salad was beyond rescue and should have been binned days ago. The lighting was bright, limiting any possible ambience. The TV had news going, not ideal for a family restaurant and if you've got young kids. For the price, this was so disappointing. I did mention the inedible salad and they knocked a couple of quid off the price, with an attitude of resentment. It's a shame, because it's a lovely location and has potential to be good.

This is very popular in the summer months and as a result it's lost the charm it had. The menu choice is not as good as it was, the bar staff certainly work hard but don't really engage. It's all a bit of a production line feeling. Come, eat, drink, go. Probably inevitable with the pub's success, but it definitely feels as if if gone down market, and I've seen this place grow over many years from the small country pub it used to be. Plenty of car parking space and undoubtedly a lovely setting, especially on a summer evening for those who bother to take the time to enjoy it.

Food was just ok, nothing special, but the worst thing was that you had to wait in line to order food from the bar but was not allowed to pay for it there and then, so after eating, you had line up yet again to pay....both queues were long cause people were ordering drinks. Given a railway experience on the Ravenglass/Eskdale line as a present. We travelled from our home on Anglesey, North Wales. The Bridge was ideally placed to visit Ravenglass (we also sneaked in a visit to Haverthwaite for a train trip and steamer ride). The room was bright and airy. The bed was the most comfortable we have had in a hotel in recent years. The food was excellent, good solid pub grub. Would just like to mention Jakob who served us. What a good lad. Bright, personable, funny and efficient. A credit to you. The staff in general were friendly and helpful. All in all a great place if you are visiting the Ravenglass railway. We had a great trip on the narrow gauge train with afternoon tea at the Eskdale end. I heartily recommend both. Thank you

Arrived at 17:20 as a semi-local it was as busy as we had expected with it being the school holiday’s . The menu is not vast but understandable under the current economic climate hotels are operating in. The initial service experience was very good, the food service was prompt and what we ordered very tasty. However, around 18:15 the influx of people started to build. By the time ,~18:25, as we came to pay the queue was snaking from the bar to the back of the room. The bar person was not only taking food orders but handling people’s drinks orders as well, for some large parties. On average it was taking ~5 mins to process each party. It took ~45+minutes later to reach the front of the queue to pay. However, after ~30 mins in the queue I asked a member of the waiting-on staff to speak to the duty manger but apparently they were not on duty and no deputy had been appointed, which you could certainly tell. I asked them why one of them could not help behind the bar taking the food orders/payments, letting the bar person do their thing, as the waiting-on staff appeared to be held up also due to the ‘one-man-band’ behind the bar. Their response was the bar person didn’t want them in ‘their space, they had offered’. This response did not surprise us as we have had other instances of this individuals ego getting in the way of good customer services and a loss of trade by for The Bridge Inn by us. Unfortunately again, it might be a while before we visit for food. As we left the queue for food and drinks was out the door into the entrance hall! Always happy to discuss our other experiences should the Bridge Inn manager/owner wish to get in-touch.

We booked a meal for 2 families on a Saturday evening and we were put in inhospitable function room with a very loud group of lads. We ordered food at the bar shortly after arrival and were told they were busy and it would be 40 minutes. We just ordered mains. We noticed that they were doing takeaways presumably for nearby campers. After an hourwe asked how long would the food be, bearing in mind we had hungry children with us. We were told it shouldn't long now. In the meantime we noticed other groups in the other room who had arrived after us were already eating and takeaways were being brought out. After further enquiries the food finally arrived 2 hours after being ordered. We would have walked out if we would have been able to get food elsewhere at that stage of the evening. The food was below average except the chips which were practicably inedible, if we hadnt been so hungry by then. They were nearly black and looked like they had been in and out of the fryer many times. More than twice cooked!. We didn't bother ordering desserts as we wished to get home on the same day.We presume their priority was the no doubt lucrative takeaway market who wouldn't wait whereas we were a captive audience.I can only say look elsewhere for food. A 2 hour wait for poor food - not acceptable in any way.

Nice place for a meal out. Staff welcoming and helpful. Surroundings nicely presented, clean, warm and traditional rural inn. Good choice on menu. Didn't have to wait too long for our food. Nicely presented. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Can recommend.

Went for Christmas lunch. Service was appalling. Soup was lukewarm. Service was the slowest we've ever experienced - 30 to 45 minutes between courses. Food not the best quality. Staff just weren't interested and made no effort. Cheese platter was the last course. Neither my wife nor I wanted to eat it at the time, so we asked if we could take it home. When we got back, we opened it only to find that we hadn't been given our own food. We got someone else's leftovers! Disgusting. Should be closed down.

Visited here twice whilst we were staying at Wasdale Youth Hostel. We returned because it was so good! We had climbed Scafell Pike the day we visited for the last time and we were starving! The food was absolutely bloody amazing!! I had the same thing both nights and was not disappointed. I had the butterfly chicken with peri peri coating and sweet potato fries with a jug of brandy and peppercorn sauce and it was to die for, as was my husband's rump of lamb.I was also impressed with the kids menu which was not your bog standard fayre, but delicious sausages and mash which my daughter loved. On our last visit my husband and I also shared the warm chocolate brownie with white chocolate sauce and ice cream which was delicious.I can't fault this place at all and would highly recommend it! Bloody lovely! Wish I could come tomorrow night too, but unfortunately, we are moving on to a different part of the lakes so will be unable to visit this lovely pub for a while. Would definitely return when we are next in the vicinity.

The Bridge inn is an atmospheric pub located in a beautiful location. I had the Beef and Jennings pie and the wife the pan-fried lamb rump. Both meals were fantastic! The pie wasn’t dry like some and was served with real chips - delicious!Staff pleasant and polite but we weren’t asked at any time if everything ok etc. Also modified the specials board 2 feet away as we eat but no big deal Free WiFi and dog friendly (even allowed behind the bar !!).

Brilliant country pub, decent range of ales and excellent service. Lots of tables inside and out. Menu had a good selection; pie was amazing with lots of succulent meat, lots of Vegies but over cooked chips - lovely gravy. Let down by sub-optimal sauces ( wot no Heinz). Good selection of deserts but we were all full so we didn’t try. Lots of families and dogs welcome

A bit of a swings & roundabouts meal hence the 3 stars, although the downsides would keep me away this time in hindsight so it's erring onto 2 stars.

Personal amigable.

Thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the Bridge. Dog friendly (most tables seemed to have at least one) and a relaxed atmosphere where customers chatted about their walking plans/experiences.

It was a delight to find pub food which was home made and a little more adventurous that commonly found. We ate here twice whilst staying at the Inn and were delighted with both the food and the service.

The Bridge cafe in Millom has a sign advising that it has temporarily closed down. To be honest, having looked through the window it doesn’t look as though it’s likely to reopen anytime soon. The Trackside on the station is a fantastic alternative.

Unfortunately yet again The Peddler has been let down by the same rude member of staff that we have dealt with a few times. We were greeted by this lady shouting from across the room asking how many seats we need. When it was explained there would be 4 adults and room for two prams the waitress looked disgusted and barely checked before telling us they couldn’t accommodate us. The restaurant was empty and there was ample room for prams around all tables. The attitude of this member of stuff is always disgraceful, and everything seems to be too much of an ask. We’ve been to The Peddler numerous times and we will not be returning which is a shame as one person has ruined the reputation. Nearly £100 spent elsewhere.

Not great. Toastie was only just acceptable. Table and chairs really need to be clean. Usually Costa is reliable and snacks eg. toasties are lovely. Not so at this one. Sadly.
