Lovely bar and location... Food very slow to arrive (1 hour) and not really worth the wait

My first negative review in my 58 years alive. From ordering food (with drinks at the bar) we waited an hour and 10 minutes before asking if the portion of chips, halloumi fries and a wrap would be much longer. The 'food' did arrive shortly thereafter, but ranged from mediocre to absolutely dreadful. The cheesy chips resembled a bowl of mash and took over 75 minutes to prepare. No apology. Won't be revisiting. The walk around the seawall was very pleasant however.

Love the friendly atmosphere here. We visited Thurs 3rd April had a lovely meal and drinks, service was great. Booked Friday morning & asked for a specific table. When we arrived as mentioned by a previous reviewer our table hadn't been reserved, it wasn't a massive problem as luckily there was another table free. It was obvious staffing levels were much to low, staff were overstretched they were struggling for glasses and after a long wait at the bar my glass wasn't clean. We had Scampi which was tasty with a lovely fresh side salad. A group of girls sat by us were continuously vaping. I asked them to stop as I'm asthmatic, they stopped for 5 mins then carried on. Not the best night we've had here, felt sorry for the staff.

Food looks excellent but at the time of writing we hadn't dined. Somersby cider was a nice surprise for my wife as we don't get it locally and add in a pint of premium lager and it was still under a tenner, very good value. I imagine this place is buzzing in the summer when all the watersport people are here. I am now amending my review on Friday 21st, after visiting this location every night on our holiday we booked for an evening meal on our last night and at the suggestion of the service staff requested a specific location for seating. Upon our arrival we were directed to a completely different table as the one we had requested was occupied. A small oversight maybe but attention to detail is so important and we felt badly let down on this occasion. Fortunately due to the fact that all the food is prepared fresh, during our waiting time the table became free and we table hopped. Small details maybe but in high season this oversight could be upsetting.

We stayed on a local campsite and went to this bar for a drink with our three dogs because it is dog friendly. Unfortunately, one of our dogs had a bit of an altercation with another dog. We felt awful and we thought we would be asked to leave. It was very upsetting but we were not asked to leave. People came from the bar to help us settle our dog down. He had slipped his harness and they helped me put it back on and asked if we were all alright. I asked if they wanted us to leave and they said absolutely not and actually replaced the drink that I had knocked over. Absolutely lovely atmosphere full of very genuine understanding friendly people. Would totally recommend. Food looked really good. Unfortunately, we didn’t get round to getting any, but we will definitely go back.

Great little boozer dog friendly and does food

Visited here for lunch on Christmas eve. First impressions outside was that it looks like a wood cabin. Walked in and happy to see this bar is dog friendly always a plus in our books. Greated upon arrival by a young chap. We found a nice table by the window the inside is wooden but no log fire. Appears to be abit of a party/music venue. Staff were friendly, pleasant and chatty greated our dogs which was nice. Cleanlyness sadly gets a 3/5 due to dirty table legs sticky table and cobwebs. Toilet facilities were good but broken door locks which wasnt a good sign. Food and drinks was alright i was happy with my meal my other half wasnt overly impressed but overall it was acceptable. Venue appeares to be busy due to a kids party day before we arrived when we walked past an a big party due in Christmas eve so i believe this business will do well but hope these all comments can be taken with a good heart. Good location and good Christmas decs. Plenty of parking up road

Very disappointing was told they do gf pizza bases but was told none available so was offered a cold wrap with not real chicken and lettuce took 50 mins to come , my husband had a pizza , we watched people come 30 mins after us but got their food before us - no idea why we had to wait 50 mins to get a pizza and a cold wrap with salad , very disappointed :( Won’t be calling again afraid

We love the ski bar and the food is delicious but we have waited over an hr for food was not given cutlery and my friend was given a wine glass twice that was dirty

What a outlook from the bar, great prices all around and the atmosphere is just perfect, excellent and highly recommended!

Nice setting, decent meals at a reasonable price

Food and drinks were quick and tasty, presented nicely. Entertaining to watch the wakeboarding and water assault course while on the deck. Dog friendly and a welcome break after walking to the Hodbarrow Lighthouse. Recommend the salt and pepper chips!

Ideally placed by the waterside. Spent a few evenings chilling with a beer and having a bowl of chips. The meals brought out to others looked good but heard a few complaints about waiting times

We attended the Ski Bar multiple times during our stay at the local caravan park. The food we felt as a collective was all round okay. The service however was appaling as we received random stirs and tenseness towards me and my friends. Random comments were heard about us returning which you would expect a business to be happy about instead of angry. WOULD NOT RECOMMENDED!!

We had read good things about this bar but it really disappointed us. With the number of holiday makers around it should be so much better. Arrived at the bar at 6.40 to order food which was advertised as being available till 7.00. The service was unbelievably slow and although there were only 3 people in front of us we didn't get served until 6.55 only to be told they had stopped food service. After I protested that we'd queued for 15 minutes and that there was still 5 minutes to go the server said she'd 'ask the kitchen'. We were allowed to order but basically it was down to a choice of two dishes left. These then took nearly an hour to arrive, I mean how long does it take to fry up some portions of scampi and a beef burger? The food itself was ok but the service was just dire. Needless to say we didn't bother going back

Lovely spot to stop for a pint. Clean, friendly and lots of dogs 😁 good beer at a decent price. Not had food there yet so can't comment on it

Ended up here after taking wrong turn, and decided to stop and get a meal alongside a friend after a long drive. The food portion was generous and full of flavour. Honestly was not expecting much but it blew us away. Give this place a try, its great.

Very very dissatisfied. A bar restaurant open not full, allowed us to take a seat and ask for menus advised us to order at bar, when ordering at the bar were advised no food without prior booking. Whilst I accept bars/ restaurants may have issues affecting service this is simply crap service and what felt like a lame excuse and in the absence of any clear indication of this requirement on entry , to allow customers to take a seat.

Had a lovely Sunday dinner there yesterday, staff are very pleasant. It's an absolutely lovely location overlooking the lagoon. Beautiful walks in the surrounding area.

We turned up after travelling from Glasgow to be told that we could have one drink and jabe to leave as they were closing at 2000. We didn't go back for the rest of our stay.

Ate here twice and both meals were delicious, hot and clearly freshly prepared. Did wait a bit for the food both times but was worth it. Good portions and value for money. I'm not keen on dogs and it is dog friendly.

Brill service, place was spotless when I went in with my mum, sister and my mums boyfriend. We ordered food at 6:50pm and didn't get it till 7:55pm. Waiting nearly over an hour food food is ridiculous but for how nice it is it's semi worth the wait. When I got my curly fries with my pizza the woman that served my curly fries slammed them on the table. It seemed rude of her to do that.

Really nice place. Food tasted great but we did wait a while for it. All the staff looked really young too, I felt like I should be asking for there ID. But really nice atmosphere. Would recommend.

I had the vegan burger which was lovely and lots of fries. Very dog friendly place we enjoyed sitting on the couch with the dog as she was able to settle easier. The bar staff serve quickly. It was an hour wait for food though.

Food average. Chips dry Very disappointed. Family visited. Niece left chicken wrap said the chicken was dry. Not to a good standard. Very poor value for money

Really good burgers! Good beer selection.

Food was lovely but wait time was far too long. We had a table booked and after complaining about our wait time of 45 minutes for our food we were told it would be another 30 minutes due to a party of 20 booked in the same time as us. They offered us a refund if we wanted to leave but as there was no where else to go we waited it out and the food was really really nice. Perhaps in the future customers should be made aware about possible wait times as it’s not really fair to make poeple wait that long especially when they’ve already booked a table.

It was closed when it were there for holidays.

Didn't eat here, but from what I saw, it was okay. Coffee wasn't up to much (barely warm), only other dog friendly eatery is the Cafe near Haverigg beach carpark, I can thoroughly recommend the food (and coffee) there.

We were watching a game of cricket at Haverigg Cricket Club and we asked the staff where we could get something to eat. They directed us along the coastal path to the holiday park. We didn't know what to expect with it being on a holiday park. To say we were surprised , in a good way is an understatement. The Cumberland sausage was first class but the accompanying chips were possibly the best I've tasted on a bar meal. The other half said her scampi was great. Now for the real plus. My grandsons chicken bites weren't just shop bought. They were properly made with high quality chicken. If / when were next at millom or haverigg cricket clubs, we will be heading straight here for lunch.

Booked a table for 18 people on the 5th may for my nephews birthday we even went and and pre ordered all of our food so when the day came service was brill at first until the food started to come out we ordered pizzas and when they came out they were burnt they didn’t even get my order right so I sent the pizza back and my friends lads pizza got sent back and they brought a “fresh” pizza for my friends lad which turned out it was the pizza I sent back they only had 12 orders of food out of 19 so 7 orders were completely missing my nephew had left with not eating a thing as they didn’t bring his food out and left very very upset on his birthday aswell! Absolute shambles no communication between there staff at all and it’s such a shame because we came here last year and the food was bob on will not be returning for food again.

Booked a table weeks in advance for my sons birthday, there was 18 people attending hense why we booked so far in advance. Got the pub and sat at our reserved tables.. waited for all our meals to arrive, half did… others didn’t! Waited 40 minutes incase there was a back log but then questioned a staff member who then confirmed that there was nothing else to come out! We had been in the day before to pre book so we all knew that it had been ordered but no my son who’s only 8 by the way had his birthday meal ruined because the pub messed up the entire order! Friends pizzas came out wrong. Other burnt and basically was a shambles! I would never ever recommend anyone to visit this place!

Staff were friendly and happy to help in any way possible. Food took about 30 minutes as the place was extremely busy. So I would have expected the roast diner to come with a freshly made Yorkshire pudding. There was enough time. Unfortunately, it was the chainsaw that had to try to enter into the offering. Other than that, the rest of the meal was cooked perfectly. I can and will recommend the meat pie. We will visit again soon.

Came for Pizza, amazing, absolutely superb, stone baked Pizzas. Cheese loaded chips were ...disappointing. Plain Chips were chunky and good. Good range of ales and lagers and a vast amount of flavoured gins. Dog friendly too.

Brilliant. Great portions, dog friendly, staff were friendly. Didn't wait long for food.

Cool bar, good food, tea and coffee. Very reasonable. Will return. Maybe get beer next time.

Popped in for a pint while waiting for a takeaway pizza. Very nice pint served by a very pleasant staff member & the food was excellent. Nice atmosphere with great view over a lake.

Visited for the 1st time on Friday evening. We were welcomed by Paul who absolutely made our night 🙌 he's a lovely host & well & truly looked after us! He's a credit to this camp! Can't wait to return again, once the weather is better..looking forward to trying out the watersports 🤽‍♀️

Small place by the lake..confusion over our reservation..it did get rectified. 4 meals all good..the salad had an abundance of olives though..far too many! Roast dinner was great as was the steak pie

Its First time we have visited this place and it certainly won't be the last. Just had a roast dinner, and the food was amazing. The staff were so friendly, and everyone had a smile . It's also dog friendly, so to see all the dogs puts you in a good mood .

Took my great grandson for a meal to celebrate him becoming a teenager. I was not disappointed. We were a group of five and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food and the overall experience.

Just spent 2 nights in our camper on site and went to the ski bar, a nice, warm and friendly place to have a beer/drink and enjoy the food, which was lovely. You can take your dogs in too. We'll be back.

It was a slow evening when we stopped by. Service was slow and there were a couple of locals vaping inside all night. Atmosphere was lacking as a result but food was good.

Can be busy, and food can take a while but it's good although drinks are pricey. Best to book at busy times.

Queued for about 15 minutes to place my order. Service was poor. Ordered a pint of fresh orange and soda. Served an orange cordial with flat water and told you can only order fresh orange and soda in a half pint. (So, put 2 through the till, no? 🙄) then the young waitress proceeded to talk about me to the young waiter right in front of me! Couldn't be bothered with a confrontation so I didn't speak up. Waited AGES for the food to arrive. By the time it came it was cold but very nice food. The whole place is let down by poor staff and not enough staff. Quite a few people were worse for wear for alcohol aswell and it was only early afternoon. Needless to say we wont be returning. It was also very expensive. £50+ for a family of 4 mains only (kids ordered from the children's menu) and no alcohol.

Excellent service good value for money

Food was really good, had some curly fries and chips to share between three and very much enjoyed outside with the view of the lake. Everyone was friendly with a smile. Great selection of drinks. Longer wait for food but no one was rushing so okay.

Ended up at the ski bar a few nights in a row as not much else in the area. The food has been nice mainly burgers and pizzas available. A massive selection of drinks to choose from. We really liked the ski bar decor. The place can get really busy during eating hours so ideal to book a table.

Food was lovely and piping hot. Nice little place with a lovely atmosphere. Special shout out to Aiden, made me a special cocktail for my birthday, a special pizza for vegetarian daughter because they had no veggie meatballs and was just a nice happy friendly guy, credit to the place :)

Every time I’ve been here.. granted it’s four occasions between last July and this July, there has been some excuse to why they won’t serve food. It’s 6pm, Tuesday evening during school holidays. Never know a pub that serves food what just hates making money. Well these must because they give any reason not to cook for guests. This place would be a gold mine if it was ran properly. Embarrassing .. or maybe I’m unlucky and picked the wrong four times to visit. There won’t be a fifth ..

Great waterside location, expected rushed service with dodgy food. Wrong, immediate fussy service and I had the mother of steak pies, full of falling apart steak. I have had a lot of pies and this was a champ. £14 for a giant plate with crispy big chips. Next time I'm here I'll be back

absolute nightmare, took over an hour for food to finally come. people came after us, and still got there food way before us.

What a lovely bar this is , we ate lunch once and dinner twice. I do advise to book though. The staff are so chatty and friendly and the views from outside to the sea inlet are lovely. I loved watching people having fun on the inflatables and paddle boards. Dog friendly too and loads of water bowls around for the dogs.Prices for food are reasonable considering the locality.

My second time eating here as my mum has moved to Millom , always friendly helpful staff , excellent food , nice bar and when it’s sunny it’s lovely to sit outside with views over the lake , Highly recommend

Came to haverigg for a night away. Great stay and beautiful scenic place. Visited the skiing bar for soke food and a fee drinks as the weather was beautiful and right on the lake. The food was nice, the drinks reasonably priced and refreshing. It was definitely a place to come for entertainment, minus the little hiccup at the end it was a great night amd very entertaining.

Bar food, pizzas, snacks, wines and spirits. We enjoyed a few beers in the sunshine while watching the fun on the lake. Had some cheesy chips but didn't stop for food. . Great location, nice bar with Picknick tables outside. Ran out of ice. Could do with more staff.

They need to hire staff members with IQ’s of at least double digits. Popped in at 14:40 for a coffee and a plate of chips only to be told that we couldn’t sit on the empty tables as they were reserved for guests who were arriving hours later. One of which was reserved for 18:15. Astonishing stuff and I dread to think how much business they must lose if this is the norm.

Great venue. Nice food. Let down by unfriendly staff. It was obvious that the staff were friendlier and more interactive with regulars. This was observed over a period of 2 hours. Shame as it was off-putting as a first timer using the bar.

Lovely bar, good choice of beer and gins, not fastest service and prices a bit steep, but all in all really nice.

Great location on the harbour watching water ski whilst having drinks and food we sat next to the water outside so we were served in a take away style. Food was good quality too.

We’ve been here a few times and always had great service,the food is always amazing and great value. this week we came for a few days but our puppy became a little unwell. We we’re staying in a caravan behind the ski bar and I wanted to make little Dougie some toast to settle his tummy but had no butter. Our lovely bar attendant, Brian got me a little pot from the kitchen to make sure Dougie could have some food. A lovely gesture, he wouldn’t take payment. Little Dougie is now much better. Thank you Brian x

I’ve been here several times and always enjoyed the food and the service, always excellent. This week my little puppy became unwell and I wanted to make him some toast to settle his tummy but I had no butter as I’d not brought anything with me. Our lovely bar attendant, Brian got me some butter for little Dougie to have some food and get better as he now has. Thank you Brian, little things make all the difference. Dougie and I will be back soon x
