The Bridge cafe in Millom has a sign advising that it has temporarily closed down. To be honest, having looked through the window it doesn’t look as though it’s likely to reopen anytime soon. The Trackside on the station is a fantastic alternative.

Good spot for a good breakfast. Staff were lovely and very accommodating. Ever so slightly more expensive than other cafés we’ve been so, but nothing that broke the bank! 😃

Big breakfast was nice, we ate it but everything was rather deep fried or warmed through. You can pay another £1 and get Cumberland sausage instead of the frozen basic sausage that were tough to eat and didn’t taste anything like Cumberland. The restaurant itself we couldn’t fault! My young boys would have loved to have seen 000the famous motorbikes displayed inside. Everything was clean including the customer toilets. We was a little disappointed their was no black pudding or mushrooms served with the breakfast but other than that it was ok. Cheap and cheerful

Immediately welcomed into the café. Staff were excellent and there was no problem in ordering smaller meals. The breakfast was exceedingly good and even shared between us was ample. Definitely not a "greasy spoon". Plenty of seating both inside and out and clean. Would recommend the café to anyone. Thank you to both staff and regular customers for making us so welcome.

Lovely exceptional people who go the extra mile to welcome guests. The Bridge Café is full of surprises and very good service and wholesome food.We walked into a spacious airy café to be greeted by smiling friendly faces. We left over an hour later feeling like part of the family having been entertained in a most incredible fascinating huge garden by Gina and Russell who have developed a lovely café and worked tirelessly on a garden with ponds log cabins mysterious paths leading to more surprises and to find such people who share everything they have worked so hard to create is something which made our trip to Millom so excellent. It is something not to be missed .Cant wait to go back.Thankyou so much David and Mike

Popped in for a little bit breakfast. Ordered a bacon sausage and egg sandwich on white bread. The sandwich was nice but nothing to shout about, a bit oily which didn’t help as the bread was just falling apart so resulted in it becoming a deconstructed sandwich. I’d visit again but perhaps not order a sandwich.

Nice little cafe. Very friendly staff and the food was good value for money. Kids enjoyed it all! Only downside is and this isn’t the cafe’s fault but Millom in general, there’s not many places to park and you are highly likely to get a ticket!

Called into the Bridge Cafe with the kids after asking a local for recommendations. Absolutely perfect! Very reasonably priced, freshly cooked food and wonderful staff. Owners where welcoming and showed us their beautiful garden. My husband would of happily moved in. Such a refreshing change to have a place to go that doesn't want to drain every penny from you, provide a poor service and terrible food.

That is exactly what the tin says. It may put you off but don't let it. Just had the jacket potato with cheese and sausage, egg chips beans. Food was hot and well cooked and was certainly filling. I didn't eat both meals, I could hardly finish mine. Portions are generous and the price is excellent-too cheap if anything. Fits the area. Will definitely eat there again if we return -probably more than once. Give it a go except don't expect a red carpet.

As I said in the title... Where do I start?Well, I walked through the door and the cafe wasn't full but out of about 15 seating tables, there was only around 3 or 4 tables to choose from which shows the popularity of the cafe in the local community. The decor was bright and attractive and the music not too loud either. Then, we went in and was served instantly. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. They also brought our food over to our table. Full credit to them!Next, the food. I had a Cheese and Tomato Toastie, half a portion of chips and a coffee and well, well, well..... Superb! The toastie was just how you want a toastie to be. Crunchy on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside and it was just that! Then the chips were nice and crispy on the outside too with a nice and fluffy middle. The food... 5 Stars definitely! Then the coffee rounded the whole thing off beautifully. Best cuppa i've ever bought!I totally recommend to anyone nearby checking this place out because it is big contributor to Millom and is one of the best eateries that i've EVER been too!Well Done Russell. Keep Going Mate! (This review is my totally unbiased opinion and in no way am I in partnership with The Bridge Cafe)

Called by today Monday 6th March 2017 whilst nearby as i haven't been for a while.Had a surprise as i walked in, new, well new to me as i don't know when the revamp was done but its clear to see it has had a revamp, with new tables, breakfast bar look great and a new floor. As ever, this cafe is and looks spotless, clean floor, clean tables and a fresh smell about the place albeit chips and such like is being cooked and fried. There has been times, when on my travels i have popped in 'other cafes' and came out smelling like one, but The Bridge Cafe - Millom, you don't.We ordered what i consider my favourite, Cold Ham, Chips, Beans and Two Eggs with a slice of B&B and a Cuppa. For the two of us a total just over £11 quid, excellent value for money.Im not 100% but the garden looks to be of worked on with extra sheds n huts, looking forward to the summer to have a look about.Well worth a visit and hope to visit soon.

4th March 2016, driving back from up the West Coast, decided to call in to one of my favourite Cafe's, and looked forward to the Cold Ham n Chips with Eggs, one of my old time favourite. So on the off chance, myself and i decided to call in for some lunch and immediately asked for the Cold Ham, to our disappointment we were told they had no Ham and awaiting delivery. So we ordered our brews and perused the menu, to come up with one of my other favourite meals, Sausage, Chips, Beans and Eggs. With a slice of B&B for a butty. In not time at all our meals turned up. Thoroughly enjoyed our meals, the food delicious and hot, it hit the mark and again we enjoyed it, we did have the ham in mind, but we look forward to that, next time.

Once again, myself, my wife and friend was in the area, therefore a visit to this wonderful cafe was a must.As soon as we approached the counter, the polite and friendly owner asked the kitchen if there was any infamous Ham to my delight the answer was yes. 'That's what i call service'.Without a moments notice i ordered Ham, Chips and Egg with Beans, my friend ordered the same. My wife ordered Egg and Chips with Beans. For drinks, two milky Coffee's and a Tea. All for less than £15 excellent value for money. While we waited i asked if i could use the WiFi and was given the secure number to log-on and again this was free. What seemed to be only a few minutes the meals were served by a friendly lady, my friend and i meals came with an abundance of delightful chips, gorgeous Ham, two Eggs a Beans. My wife was served with Two Eggs and again plenty of Chips, I forgot to ask for Bread and Butter and again this was not a problem, within a minute or so the B&B was served, I do struggle to eat chips without making a buttie. The food was excellent, the Ham never disappoints, good old fashioned frothy Coffee is a joy and unlike that over priced over inflated Costa packet Coffee. This cafe and its owners never disappoints, there so much more to this Cafe. A visit is a must, even if your not in the area. The fantastic garden will be worked on soon as spring is near, and the 2014 Xmas Santa Grotto was a huge success.Call in and enjoy. I will, soon.Sam B

Called in to this Great cafe whilst on business nearby with my wife 18.09.14, my wife and i visit this place when nearby, I ordered Cold Ham, Eggs, Chips and Beans times 2, two brews and a round of bread and butter. £11 total....perfect.Whenever I call in, there is always a great atmosphere, this is the place where locals catch up, a central hub, theirs a buzz about this place, people 'nattering' to one another, theirs many places i have been and i bet they wish what this cracking cafe has and have succeeded. The Cold Ham, just perfect, Chips and Beans and Egg, not rocket science but to other places i have been it certainly appears to be, here at the bridge Café, they have it right, spot on.I believe the garden will be open for this Christmas (2014) they are having a Santa Grotto built, and it’s all coming along and looking good.Pay the cafe a visit, you won’t be disappointed.I hope to call by very soon.Sam B

This cafe has been around and open for many years, I personally have frequented this glorious cafe many times. What makes this cafe stand out from the typical and many other other cafe's around is, the atmosphere, the owner, the staff, friendly, helpful and obviously the food.Lets not beat about the bush here, it's a cafe, but strong ties to the local community, the pricing and quality of the food and drinks is a credit to the owner-s. The Cafe is a hub where the locals meet up for brews and food, it offers free- wifi which is a credit and has a computer station for those who wish to surf the internet for a mere couple of quid. One of my favorite foods is the Cold Ham and Chips, fantastic, so the night before our visit we decided my wife and i to visit the Cafe. A mere 40 mile round trip. On arrival 25.4.14, 10.00am we ordered the Cold Ham and chips dinner, what arrived at our table was.. Two Fried Eggs, Plate full of Chips, oodles of slices of cold ham ( proper ham, not reconstructed, re-constituted mechanical ham) proper Ham, we chose beans instead of peas, a slice of bread and butter each and a mug of frofy milky coffee. For both of us, the total of £12.80, we were full and thoroughly enjoyed our food, Excellent portions, excellent quality, a winning formula. The Bridge cafe hosts a fantastic garden, with many animals for children to view, you can eat out in the garden and relaxing in a peaceful environment, there is work taking place at the moment, they are building a large log cabin, for a Santa's Grotto, with slush machines and other ideas i no doubt will be added. In all the cafes i have visited up and down and across the country i have not seen or come across a cafe like it before, a truly wonderful place to call upon whether for a brew or for food.We will be returning very soon.if you are in the vicinity, pop in, you wont be disappointed.

Unfortunately yet again The Peddler has been let down by the same rude member of staff that we have dealt with a few times. We were greeted by this lady shouting from across the room asking how many seats we need. When it was explained there would be 4 adults and room for two prams the waitress looked disgusted and barely checked before telling us they couldn’t accommodate us. The restaurant was empty and there was ample room for prams around all tables. The attitude of this member of stuff is always disgraceful, and everything seems to be too much of an ask. We’ve been to The Peddler numerous times and we will not be returning which is a shame as one person has ruined the reputation. Nearly £100 spent elsewhere.
