Lovely pub to go for a drink. Only pub close to where we were staying. No food served here. Dog friendly. Closed Monday and Tuesday. Close to request stop railway station. Open 2pm til pub empty. Makes sence. Friendly people.

The locals are in here as well as holiday makers, decent standard pub food at a pub food price, with the lasagne a firm favourite of repeat bookers that seemed to live there. Friendly, a real ale winner, and all the rest, plenty of parking, but perfect to walk to if you are staying. Check opening hours as covid/brexit has hammered all the lake district pubs and I'm sure this used to be open more. Only downer was it says "for sale" would be tragic if Silecroft lost this pub, I've been coming for 50 years to this beach, will be making this pub a regular visit to try to keep it going.

We were staying within walking distance but they don't open during the day so we weren't able to go for drinks after our walks and they aren't serving food as apparently they don't have a chef. You can't find any information about this pub as they don't have a website and there fb page isn't regularly updated.

The pub was nice, the staff were friendly, the food was OK but the selection was very small, the menu consisted of Vegetable Soup, Frozen Scampi, Lasagna, Burger or Sausage, the veg were frozen and the chips were frozen. Deserts offered were Brownie or Ice cream. We were looking forward to some good home cooked food but unfortunately we were very disappointed.

Silecroft is a tiny place with only 1 pub. We ate there twice in 4 days. The food was tasty and all home cooked. The lasagne was a tad odd as it is was “sloppy” -) I can’t think of another word to describe it) It was tasty and very well presented but very wet. The burger I had was excellent, my OH had fish all tasted excellent. Good service, friendly people, reasonable prices. Good value for money.

We had a lovely takeaway from here last night, with plenty of vegetarian options available (soup, pizzas, main course burger). I had an ale (wonderful after ages of no cask ales) while the meal was prepared. Cumberland sausage was wonderful!Lots of effort put into providing a safe experience and very nice food too! My only quibble was that the only bottled beer to take away were the usual boring lagers and the menu wasn't that accessible if you were phoning in (maybe put a daily photo on your facebook page?). But would go back again if in the area

Fixed menu choice and some daily specials, good quality ingredients, well cooked to order and presented. Attentive staff, good country pub decor and atmosphere. Also caters for group bookings in restaurant and function room, which was reassuringly well patronized throughout the week. We used the pub 4 days in our 7 day stay in Silecroft, consistently good value for money on each visit. The landlord was happy for us to park our motorhome overnight, very helpful.

It's a long time since ive been here so thought I'd give it a try as we had family visiting. We were the only people eating at the time but waited nearly an hour for starters. Not a good start but they were nice to be fair so no major problem. Unfortunately, after another long wait the mains weren't great. One got sent back as it wasn't hot but it must have been nuked as on return the chicken was inedible. My Gammon was dry too. Overall we were disappointed with the food but 5☆ to the girl waiting on...on her own...she never stopped.

Had a number of bar meals here now and not had a bad one yet. The food is very good and served by friendly waitresses. You can eat in the bar, which is dog friendly or go through to the dining room if you prefer. Tonight we had another good meal. I had, to start, the garlic mushrooms and my husband had home made tomato soup, followed by the ‘special’ of lamb shank in a port wine gravy and even though we were stuffed, went on to have dessert, I had the Oreo blonde special and my husband had sticky toffee pudding. All the food was excellent, we would definitely recommend The Miners as a good place to eat.

The Miner's Arms recently went through a kitchen refurbishment and for several days we were at a loss as to where to eat because as pub food goes this is up there.Service is generally quite quick too. They produce quite a wide range including their take on a chicken curry. Old stand-bys like fish beer battered haddock and chips with peas, burgers, shepher's pie, beef and ale pie, prawn mayo to name but a few.The beer on offer is local and the house wine in particular is reasonably priced. To their credit they offer versions of several dishes for those with lesser appetites and reflect this in the pricing too.Worth a visit if you're tired and hungry.Nice wood burners going in winter.

My wife and I stopped off here whilst staying in Bootle. We showed up at 17:45 but the pub didn't open until 18:00. Thankfully the owner saw us waiting around outside and let us in early. When inside there was a lovely wood burner in the bar which gave that warm country pub feel to the place. We ordered drinks and politely waited until after 18:00 to order food. We waited about 30 minutes for food which for a country pub that's family ran is more than reasonable. The reviews on here that are complaining the wait times are excessive are laughable. I fully recommend any chain such as Jamie or Gordon's restaurants to fulfill your 20 minute turn around needs. Patience is a virtue, please show some respect to the countryside or stick to central London next time. The food is fantastic. Real, authentic pub food which is done to a high standard. The selection of drinks is wide and would satisfy most needs. The staff were very friendly and chatty and catered to our needs. Overall I recommend anyone in the area pay this pub a visit providing you don't want food served yesterday of course.

I recently visited The Miners Arms, one evening, with no expectation of anything beyond average, a prophecy that The Miners handsomely delivered on. Normally I wouldn't bother with a review. You goes average, ya gets average where's the drama? Well that came in the form of the service. Or should I say lack of service? Now I fully appreciate that things move slower in the countryside than in the city but, in a half empty restaurant, am I being picky in thinking that 1 hour 45 minutes for a starter, main course and bill arriving is a tad too long?? I'm glad I didn't order dessert or I may have passed the milkman out on his rounds, as I left the car park!! After an hour and a half I actually had to go to the bar to ask for our bill, which still took another 10 or so minutes to get to us! Happily the waitress could laugh it off with a 'oh I forgot you were round here!' Haha, did you? Oh you big silly, maybe next time we'll let off a flare eh? I guess the forgetfulness was contagious, as when I left I completely forgot to leave a tip!! Fancy that eh? I wonder if the previous months visit of Paul Merton had left the staff starstruck and unable to function properly? Well Miners Arms Have I Got News For You....YOU SUCK!!!! Many thanks.....

Booked a table for 5 people at 7pm (including 1 child aged 5) Waited 1 hour for food with no apologies for delay. Every time we chased the order we were told it's just coming. When food arrived it was almost thrown on the table by the waitress who was so rude. Only a few other tables in, expensive but food ok. If the service had been better the review definitely would have been higher. Didn't go back which was a shame as still had 4 nights of holiday left. We stayed at a caravan site a couple of miles from here, its well off the beaten track on the Cumbria coast in the south lakes. We popped in on the way back to the van for a few in the very well kept nice beer garden. the local beers were very well kept and went down a treat. The following evening the weather was really bad, no BBQ by the van tonight, so we went back to the miners for evening meal. Staff very friendly, menu is not massive, but has the usual pub favourites topped off with some good "Gastro Pub" style specials. I had a pan fried chicken, black pudding and pancetta meal with locally sourced produce which was brilliant, and the missus had a lamb hot pot cobbler that she says was the nicest shes had. The two kids meals were demolished in no time as well. Sticky toffee pudding made with real dates for a change finished off the meal a treat. At £60 for two courses and two rounds of drinks for 2 adults and two kids I thought was about the right price for the great quality of the food, not cheap but worth the money.

We've dined here several times and it continues to be a great place for honest pub grub. The Cumberland sausage is fabulous and the steak and ale pie is also well prepared. Good honest food with nice beer and ok wine list. Well worth the visit but you'll need to book - it's very popular with locals!

We have been here on numerous occasions as we live locally, both before and after we have had children, the food is wonderful and always tastes fantastic, steaks cooked to perfection! They have a good range of beers too.The beer garden is toddler friendly as it is gated off from the road. Great place to visit.

My wife and I visited this week and thoroughly enjoyed our food and drinks here. The bar staff and waitress were very nice.We only found the place because of an A board sign along the road which one could easily miss, therefore us the Post Code if you have Sat Nav.They also have a quiz on Monday evening if that is of interest.

We visited The Miners' Arms for lunch and ordered gammon and lamb and apricot cobbler. The meat was outstanding and the gammon huge! All their meat comes from the local butchers so I'm assuming it was Herdwick I was eating. The veg was freshly cooked and although we waited about 20 mins it was well worth it since it was obvious that it was being cooked there and then. It is a nice, quiet country pub and a very relaxing wait. THe young lady who served us was extremely polite and helpful and the pub is only a short walk from the beach. definitely a place I'd recommend.

I would highly recommend Moresby Hall. The owners were extremely accommodating and went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. I am a wheelchair user so was concerned about the actual accessibility of this grade 1 listed building. However they exceeded our expectations, having a designated, very well thought out, accessible apartment on the ground floor with every possible aid needed. Not only that but it was beautiful and we very much enjoyed our stay. Jane and David the owners were very welcoming, approachable and friendly, and they even made a amendment to the front door as my chair caught on a part of it. Breakfast was really nice, having a great selection to choose from and hot food made to order. One of the best breakfasts I’ve had and it felt much better than the buffet style English breakfast. The weekend went by very fast and I’d have loved to stay longer. Would highly recommend this beautiful hall as you won’t be disappointed.

We came here for Sunday Lunch. It is advisable to book as I don't think they accept walk-ins. The roast dinner (I had chicken) was absolutely amazing, really good. Prices are very reasonable. Nice cosy village pub in the middle of nowhere - make sure you search it out.

Due to lockdown restrictions, Truly Scrumptious has a delivery service, so this was ordered by phone, rather than a visit to the shop. Their cream tea selections are amazing! My sister ordered this for mother's day - and since we haven't seen her since October 2020, she treated me, too! Delivery was within a 2-hour time slot, and arrived in good time. Definitely recommended.

Lovely friendly independent cafe based in the church at Frizington. When we went we had booked because it gets packed out by local residents. My friend is local but I was visiting . We ordered tea for two and a lovely big pot with China cups and saucers arrived. More hot water to top up the pot no problem ! My friend had a delicious ( massive) omelette , salad and chips. I had the steak pie ( gorgeous gravy) , vegetables and again the wonderful home made chips ( best ever) . Crumbles or ginger cake with custard for dessert. I just loved the lively atmosphere . So great to see a place thriving in the north west lakes. A real hidden gem.
