Fabulous gem of a place! Was looking for ANYWHERE to have a coffee and cake while my family were climbing Scar Fell Pike and came across this wonderful little place - great coffee, friendly service, new and clean with a little farm shop to complete the atmosphere. The cookies and cream tifgin was divine!

Food was fine - nothing amazing but not bad either. Felt as though many of the cakes were bought in. Setting lovely with pleasant outdoor area and veranda overlooking the stream. Thought it should have been busier for a Saturday in August with good weather. There are no signs as far as I can see so that may be something for the proprietors to consider. The biggest let down was the length of time we waited for food and the staff - absolutely no happy vibes at all. There were plenty of them around but the pace was slow and at bit miserable to be honest. It could and should be upping its game!

Found this place on search engine when looking for coffee and cake. What a find! The place itself is delightful, very modern, beautiful surroundings and the coffee and cakes were excellent too. I must mention the friendly waitress who brought treats for our dog. Dogs are welcome in the cafe area. Enjoy it we did.

We discovered this place by accident, having made a search for cafe's with farm shops in Cumbria. We found the cafe fairly easily (with a Sat Nav) and were pleasantly surprised by the number of people who were there at the same time. Being quite isolated, we thought it may be much quieter. Anyway, friendly staff took our order and the food & drinks were delivered in a very short space of time. Both meals were very good and the setting was very nice, with outdoor seating available by the River. We tend to travel around Cumbria quite a bit (by motorcycle), and we tend to return to places we really like. This will be added to that list!

Nice spot by the river. Just passing on leaving Wasdale. Coffee was very nice. My wife and I decided to share a small Quiche - also very nice. However be warned, the was Quiche priced at £3.50p, very reasonable we thought, but it cost another £1.20 to have it on an Eat-In-Plate. I was warned that the quiche was cold but not that it would cost extra 35% to sit and it eat it. No signs that we could see warning us that prices are take-away prices not sit in. Takes the pleasure away a bit. Service, at the time well there were only two other couples eating so service was as one would expect.

The position by the river is lovely, cakes looked delicious, the place has been renovated to a really high standard and is lovely to sit and relax. Been several times before always had good service but today was shocking one young girl in particular so abrupt and rude not one out of the 5 staff cracked a smile. On arrival no greeting whatsoever just an abrupt ‘do you want menus ‘ and also with a party of 5, having to order at the till doesn’t seem as an efficient system when there were 5 staff members doing nothing. Overall disappointed as we’ve always enjoyed it in the past.

The Sawmill in Nether Wasdale is a smart, modern and spacious building combining a restaurant and farm shop. The restaurant has a wide range of meals and snacks as well as simple coffees and teas. We were only in for coffees, which were excellent, and after all the recent rain it was a pleasure to sit by the window and watch the swollen stream rush by. The shop has a decent range of gifts as well as the expected foodstuff and is well worth a browse. I was very impressed by how spotlessly clean and tidy the whole place is, and when you add top notch service the Sawmill simply exudes class.

Staying in Wasdale I was looking forward to trying the Sawmill Cafe, it did not disappoint. We liked it so much we went 3 times in the space of a week. First time was for a late lunch of sausage roll and Cumbrian rarebit, then brunch of Lakeland full English (it's great having 2 options, as the small one excludes all the things I don't like), and finally we had breakfast on our last day, we each had a pancake stack, one of each type. The food was great, the coffee was lovely, the staff very courteous and friendly and we received our food very quickly. I loved the history of the building and the sympathetic way it has been renovated. I can imagine on a sunny Summer day it will be even better. The river directly outside was running very fast at this time of year and was lovely to hear. In case it's not clear, I really really liked it :-). Such a shame it's so far from home, but we'll be back.

The coffee & cake were delicious, the staff were polite & helpful, the building clean & tidy. If you're lucky, you can sit right next to a beautiful, clear river & there's also outside seating too. A nice little cafe next to a stream with a very small shop section and plenty of parking in the attached parking lot. There is plenty of nice seating both indoors and outdoors, and we wish the weather had been a bit nicer so we could have sat outside overlooking the stream. It was bar service with food brought to the table. The food was pretty good, and I enjoyed the lamb shoulder wrap. They also had a little play area for smaller children with a few tables around it, which was much appreciated by those with younger kids in our party. The ice cream sundays looked good as well, but after the meal there wasn’t enough space left to sample one unfortunately. The attached farm shop itself has some nice things to sell but due to the small size the selection is fairly limited. Overall it’s a nice farm cafe with nice outside seating (about 5/6 tables or so), good food and a nice spot to have some brunch.

Met up with family that are on holiday here with their dog as it was a good opportunity to visit Wasdale at the same time with our dog too. Had never been here before, but saw that there was also a farm shop attached as well as crafts, gifts, etc which is always interesting to look around. 3 members of the family had lamb burgers which they really enjoyed and I had a halloumi wrap (vegetarian) which was gluten free (also coeliac) and sweet potato fries. This was followed by some delicious ice cream sundaes. There is an outside area with tables by a fenced off fast flowing little river, a veranda with tables or tables inside ( for the cooler days) which also allowed well behaved dogs. For those that don't want to be near dogs there is plenty of room. Didn't need supper after all that as we were still full. Certainly a place that we will return to, especially with other members of our family as there is literally something for everyone, including children.

It was only when we had started our walk from Nether Wasdale that we discovered this tearoom and farm shop. Won't miss out next time! Anyway, went for lunch after the walk and had a lamb wrap (OH) and a quiche plus salad, both pretty OK. We followed with ice creams, local but a bit more cloying than other ones we had tasted in Ennerdale Bridge. An extensive menu plus a take-away counter, lots of local stuff to buy in the shop. We sat outside on the shaded wooden decking next to the lade, very pleasant, and there are lots of other outside tables to the side of the shop. Do take time to admire the huge water wheel off to the sideand the lade running under the glass panels set in the centre of the floor.

Five of us had lunch here on a lovely sunny day. What a fabulous setting, with the river running crystal clear literally under the restaurant. Very stylishly converted (quite recently), light and airy with lots of outdoor space. The menu has quite a lot of...

Lovely pub to go for a drink. Only pub close to where we were staying. No food served here. Dog friendly. Closed Monday and Tuesday. Close to request stop railway station. Open 2pm til pub empty. Makes sence. Friendly people.

Due to lockdown restrictions, Truly Scrumptious has a delivery service, so this was ordered by phone, rather than a visit to the shop. Their cream tea selections are amazing! My sister ordered this for mother's day - and since we haven't seen her since October 2020, she treated me, too! Delivery was within a 2-hour time slot, and arrived in good time. Definitely recommended.

We came here for Sunday Lunch. It is advisable to book as I don't think they accept walk-ins. The roast dinner (I had chicken) was absolutely amazing, really good. Prices are very reasonable. Nice cosy village pub in the middle of nowhere - make sure you search it out.

I would highly recommend Moresby Hall. The owners were extremely accommodating and went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. I am a wheelchair user so was concerned about the actual accessibility of this grade 1 listed building. However they exceeded our expectations, having a designated, very well thought out, accessible apartment on the ground floor with every possible aid needed. Not only that but it was beautiful and we very much enjoyed our stay. Jane and David the owners were very welcoming, approachable and friendly, and they even made a amendment to the front door as my chair caught on a part of it. Breakfast was really nice, having a great selection to choose from and hot food made to order. One of the best breakfasts I’ve had and it felt much better than the buffet style English breakfast. The weekend went by very fast and I’d have loved to stay longer. Would highly recommend this beautiful hall as you won’t be disappointed.

Lovely friendly independent cafe based in the church at Frizington. When we went we had booked because it gets packed out by local residents. My friend is local but I was visiting . We ordered tea for two and a lovely big pot with China cups and saucers arrived. More hot water to top up the pot no problem ! My friend had a delicious ( massive) omelette , salad and chips. I had the steak pie ( gorgeous gravy) , vegetables and again the wonderful home made chips ( best ever) . Crumbles or ginger cake with custard for dessert. I just loved the lively atmosphere . So great to see a place thriving in the north west lakes. A real hidden gem.
