After a day visiting family, we stopped here for dinner. We were made very welcome, and provided us with a excellent meal. Cost was reasonable, portion size generous, and we really enjoyed the meals.

Muchas gracias.

I would thoroughly recommend this pub for the wonderful food, I had the beef stew and cheesy mash, proper comfort food after a long walk, the bread and butter pudding was to die for and the service could not be faulted. First class

Fantastic location on the edge of the Lake District, but with easy access to the beach at Seascale and St Bees, the gardens of the hotel are amazing, its dog friendly and I cant speak highly enough of the owners Col and Mel, the most hospitable owners I have ever met in a hotel, so friendly, nothing was too much trouble, food throughout the 2 days was tasty and good portions and all the staff were professional and friendly..Highly recommend, We will be back

We stopped by The Stanley almost weekly when we were in the area. Friendly atmosphere and staff. Had good chats with the owners. They keep the beer really well and the Titanic Plum Porter is my favourite ale, so it was good to see it on the pumps most times we dropped by!

We stopped here for a hearty lunch because they allowed our dogs in. The bar was mostly empty and we had a long table, and the room it was in, all to ourselves for most of the lunchtime. We were next to the pool table too so had some fun. The food was substantial and tasty. I had the liver/bacon with mash and veg and got quite a dish load. We all ate well and dried out a bit.

Popped in after a drive out round the area, upon arrival my first impressions of the outside area were great, lovely river and beer garden next to it. Unfortunately these impressions were not carried on through the pub, owners? were sat on tablet/phone and didn't really seem interested in us at all. The man behind the bar was friendly although could of offered to help me carry the drinks to the table as I had to make 3 trips back to the bar the pub was empty so this wouldnt have been a problem for him to do this. Atmosphere sadly wasn't there, it was one of them places where your slightly afraid to speak and we spent the whole time whispering, you could have heard a pin drop. Average wait time for food to arrive but when it did my god were the portions massive! Chips were absolutely beautiful and gammon was cooked well only problem with any of the 5 meals was the bolognaise was extremely peppery and slightly dry. Very reasonably priced food although drinks were a bit expensive. Would not visit here again with children as I didn't feel they were particularly welcome. Toilets in desperate need of a refurb and bar area very dated.

Perhaps we visited at a bad time, but there was little atmosphere and the food (quite average but well priced) took a while to arrive. Probably better in the summer when you can get out in the garden.

Having failed to find anywhere available to eat in Ravenglass that was either overpriced , closed or booked up we travelled north to Calderbridge and noted that food was available at the Stanley Arms Hotel. There was plenty full free parking available to the side of the hotel which is situated on the main road.

I stayed here for one night as I was in the area working near by. A really pleasant Cumbrian village pub with tasty food (great value for money) and some nice ales. I have to say that whilst the food was great, the room was clean and comfy, what really makes this place is the fantastic hoteliers that own/run the place. What a warm welcome. Felt very at home here within an hour and they went out of there way to make me feel as such. Bravo. Would def stay again.

Just a quick thank you to Tom and the other gentleman on duty today when I called with an extremely infirm 93 year old. We were looking for somewhere to eat in the sunshine - but navigating steps etc is a struggle. Both chaps bent over backwards to help - and we were waited on hand and foot and served a lovely lunch. The welcome was fantastic - and thanks to the kindness, nice meals and beautiful garden we had a perfect visit. THANK YOU.

Arrived at 3pm wanting some food. Friendly welcome from the staff (and some of the customers). Food was freshly prepared so very hot and large portions. My wife had the fish & chips and said the fish was excellent. I had the chicken curry with rice, nan & chutney. My son a recent vegetarian had the lasagne and finished it all - too much to hope he would eat the peas as well.

Lovely pub to go for a drink. Only pub close to where we were staying. No food served here. Dog friendly. Closed Monday and Tuesday. Close to request stop railway station. Open 2pm til pub empty. Makes sence. Friendly people.

Due to lockdown restrictions, Truly Scrumptious has a delivery service, so this was ordered by phone, rather than a visit to the shop. Their cream tea selections are amazing! My sister ordered this for mother's day - and since we haven't seen her since October 2020, she treated me, too! Delivery was within a 2-hour time slot, and arrived in good time. Definitely recommended.

We came here for Sunday Lunch. It is advisable to book as I don't think they accept walk-ins. The roast dinner (I had chicken) was absolutely amazing, really good. Prices are very reasonable. Nice cosy village pub in the middle of nowhere - make sure you search it out.

I would highly recommend Moresby Hall. The owners were extremely accommodating and went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. I am a wheelchair user so was concerned about the actual accessibility of this grade 1 listed building. However they exceeded our expectations, having a designated, very well thought out, accessible apartment on the ground floor with every possible aid needed. Not only that but it was beautiful and we very much enjoyed our stay. Jane and David the owners were very welcoming, approachable and friendly, and they even made a amendment to the front door as my chair caught on a part of it. Breakfast was really nice, having a great selection to choose from and hot food made to order. One of the best breakfasts I’ve had and it felt much better than the buffet style English breakfast. The weekend went by very fast and I’d have loved to stay longer. Would highly recommend this beautiful hall as you won’t be disappointed.

Lovely friendly independent cafe based in the church at Frizington. When we went we had booked because it gets packed out by local residents. My friend is local but I was visiting . We ordered tea for two and a lovely big pot with China cups and saucers arrived. More hot water to top up the pot no problem ! My friend had a delicious ( massive) omelette , salad and chips. I had the steak pie ( gorgeous gravy) , vegetables and again the wonderful home made chips ( best ever) . Crumbles or ginger cake with custard for dessert. I just loved the lively atmosphere . So great to see a place thriving in the north west lakes. A real hidden gem.
