It was cold we couldn’t even take off our jackets and so are other customers too. When we told the waiter we are cold, she said sorry if you start eating, you will feel warm. The atmosphere was too dark we struggled to read the menu. Either big or small, how can a bottle of Nigerian Fanta be £6. Not a pleasant experience and never ever going back.

🚇 Queens Road Peckham 🍺 £3.90 Cruzcampo The Windsor is located down the New Cross end of Old Kent Road in Southeast London. The nearest station is Queens Road Peckham. This imposing boozer was built in the 1860’s and started life as The Prince of Saxe Coburg, this was the Pub’s name from its construction until 1917. In the midst of the First World War with Germany, King George V abolished all former German Royal titles and the pub was renamed The Prince of Windsor. The pub went through a few more names changes, today it is simply called The Windsor. There were once 37 pubs along the Old Kent Road, today, only two pubs remain, The Windsor and the magnificent Lord Nelson. This is a good size one bar pub that is traditionally decorated. The servery is located on the back wall and has a large Millwall flag draped over the back bar. The layout is fairly spacious with a raised carpeted area by the windows. The decor consists of a boarded floor, patterned wallpaper, deep red painted panelling, black and white historical prints, a mix of seating and a pool table. At the front of the pub are a few benches for the warmer months. The beer line up offers a selection of well known keg favourites plus three cask ales. I decided on a Cruzcampo, my pint was great, price point was very reasonable at under four quid. I didn’t see any food on offer, but there are plenty of bar snacks. I arrived just after 11am on a wet and windy Saturday morning in August. The pub had not long opened and had four local punters in attendance. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed with an eighties soundtrack playing in the background and the horse racing was on mute on the few screens dotted around the bar. The service was excellent, I was served by a lovely lady who was welcoming and friendly. The @windsorse15 is a down to earth well presented local that was a pleasure to spend time in. There is a lovely local feel to the pub and the surroundings are comfortable. A big shout out for the beer prices which were very reasonable. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here, this pub is well worth a visit if you’re in the area. 📅 24th August 2024 More London Pub info @Londonpubmap 🍻

Tucked away on a quiet pedestrian side street in Soho, Begeriet is a tiny Swedish bakery with just a couple of small metal tables outside and a compact indoor seating area. The display is minimal, but it showcases a tidy selection of classic Scandi-style pastries and coffee. I tried the strawberry coronet with custard and strawberry jelly, topped with fresh strawberries. Even after about four hours in a takeaway bag, the pastry was impressively crisp. The custard filled most of the centre—though not quite to the bottom—and the pastry was finished with a simple dusting of white icing sugar on the sides. Overall, it was well-balanced, fairly light, and a reasonably good example of Scandinavian baking. The main downsides are the price—£5 for a single pastry is steep—and the lack of space to sit comfortably, especially indoors. Still, it’s a charming little spot for a quick, high-quality treat if you’re in the area.

First time I visited (Jan ‘25) I had porridge. I ordered blueberries and strawberries. Unfortunately the strawberries were not available but the friendly staff offered a substitution and so chose bananas. The portion was a good size and very filling. The staff were very friendly. I returned today (May ‘25) and had a large cooked breakfast. It was really nice, well cooked. The staff again were very friendly and attentive. I would definitely return.
