The former Poppy’s tea room, The Secret Garden is a really cosy little nook in Trinity Street, decorated to look like an indoor garden. The food is lovely and inexpensive and the staff are great, especially Skye, who is so friendly and cheerful, a real delight! Definitely going to be a regular visitor.

I always stop here for a latte. Quite possibly the finest latte in the world.

Mac - you're a legend! Thank you so much for all your help on the lead up to our Christmas Party! Obviously, it helped that I am the queen of organising Christmas parties!!! ;-) We had 27 people on Friday 6th December for a 3-course dinner and drinks. Nothing was too much trouble for the team, even asking for paper, and a bucket (don't ask!)... only a few grumbles but you can't please everyone. I'd personally say the Lamb Bon Bons were a little on the dry side, and the Chocolate Tart was a little bland, but when you're serving that many people, I understand why it's sometimes not perfect! My Christmas Burger though, was delicious! There was a LONG wait in between main and dessert but for me, I just think it was a nice opportunity to mingle and chat! There were a few people from downstairs who came to get drinks upstairs - I think maybe a couple maybe got a free drink on our tab, I'm not sure - maybe we should have a password or something else in place in future! It was great though, thank you all! From all at Artichoke Media

I went for one of the evening music sessions at Patch, it was my first time visiting and brought the kids as it was a Christmas event, despite being the only children there we were made to feel very welcome and the hot drinks were ace, it felt like a special night for the kids and they loved it. Will absolutely go again.

Had a table booked for Saturday 7pm for 2. Arrived, ordered and received drinks by 7.15. Which was brilliant. Got to 7.45pm and still nothing, asked the waitress who went to check in the kitchen amd said they're plating it up. 8.15 still no food asked the waitress again and she said the same thing. Ended up leaving and hour and hour later without no food and no apology. Staff didn't know what was going on and recived no food. Gutted as I've heard nice things about the food. Unless you've got loads of time to waste and leave hungry I wouldn't recommend here.

We didn't know Colchester at all, but happened upon Sip and Tuck when we were looking for lunch, and it was perfect for our requirements. Our only regret was that the portions were too generous for us to have room for a slice of cake! In fact, the Ploughman's defeated my husband, and so he had to ask for a doggy bag and the leftovers were sufficient for his lunch the next day.

Had no problems with mother in laws wheelchair in here there was a wide door and lots of space to spin around. The front of store is full of all the chocolate that they sell and the rear is a cafe that sells coffee, tea and various chocolate snacks. The service was very quick and the coffee tasted just as it should. The only little niggle is that the regular coffee cups are without handles, which caused a problem for mother in law but bigger cups with handles were given when asked for.
