I had an amazing breakfast at Loofers food and coffee place. The food was fresh and delicious. The owner, who also served, was incredibly friendly and passionate about his restaurant, making the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this place for a delightful breakfast. I’ve been there sometime before when my wife craving for breakfast when she was heavily pregnant, I forgot to ask them for well done egg while making an order and asked them for it while they were preparing but they refused to make it saying it’s been done already but took another 10 more minutes to serve. What a shame never again

We are regulars here and the food and drinks are always delicious. Whether it is just myself and my husband or all of the family we always have a great meal. Breakfast pancakes are amazing and there is lots to choose for lunch too. The staff are very friendly and the tables are always clean and cleared straight away. We couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

We went to Loofers for breakfast coming from the ferry in Harwich. Great coffee, food, staff and atmosphere. Highly recommended!!

A lovely 8am breakfast with delicious fresh ingredients . Very tasty eggs Benedict and yummy sausages in the ‘tower’ breakfast . All served with a smile and a lovely welcome . Would throughly recommend … particularly the delicious flat white… 100% better than any chain of coffee shops !

Lovely panini! I recommend the halloumi and chicken panini, very tasty. Good coffee. They play nice smooth jazz which adds to the relaxed ambience.

I have been a regular Loofer's customer for years; it is my top preference for a late breakfast or early lunch at weekends, or any other day, as their sandwiches beat everything else on offer in Colchester; all food is made with choice ingredients, and prepared in full view, right on site. And the staff are exceptional, every single one of them, always courteous and friendly. They soon recognise if you are a frequent customer, and make you feel especially welcome. Seating is varied and comfortable, familes, children, and adults of all ages are welcome, their needs readily accommodated. The drinks and food menu is rich and varied, and you are never made to feel rushed. A civilised, quality experience through and through.

We called in here Thursday as we were in town, such a lovely clean venue and the food was amazing, my daughter thought the avocado and eggs were fabulous as did my granddaughter with her full English breakfast, we were really made welcome and had a toddler with us, who unfortunately made a bit of a mess with my muffin which was also delicious, we offered to clean the mess up but the waitress wouldn’t hear of it. When we are next in town we will definitely return here as the prices were very good for the quality of the food and the lovely people who run the restaurant.

We had delivery paninis from here that were very tasty and well made. We have eaten in the cafe before quite a few times and have always enjoyed it. The delivery food was on a par with what you get when you eat in.

We were spoilt for choice as we walked around Colchester but the menu looked good and my Mexican chicken wrap was delicious. Sadly the toilet didn't look as if had been checked today or cleaned for a few days and I didn't use it. My pot of earl grey suki tea was very strong when it arrived and I took the basket out with the leaves straight away so it didn't brew further. My husband went and asked if we could have more hot water in the pot and was told he would have to pay for it! In the end the guy gave him a little hot water for free but I didn't have a second come. £3.95 a pot of far too strong tea was not a great experience and made to feel we were all but stealing when asked for more hot water is not an experience I would like to repeat.

We love Loofers, can't resist their freshly made panini with grilled halloumi, bacon, chicken and mayo, simply divine! We keep coming back for it each and every time. Can't find it anywhere else, or at least this good! <3

It's hard to find a proper stack of pancakes at a cafe for a reasonable price. Loofers pancakes were great! Good maple syrup and proper butter. Couldn't have asked for more.

We popped here for lunch before going to a nearby show. We’ve eaten here many times over the years and the fact they’ve been going so long (since before 2008) says something about them. But today, there was the three of us and we had 2 wraps, a kids meal and 3 drinks with an extra plate of pita and hummus. This cost over £33 and took 20 minutes from placing the order to receiving it. It took 5 minutes to consume due to small portion sizes. The quality of the food and drink was good as was the cleanliness of the place. But overall this was a disappointing experience.

I really enjoy going to this place to eat! So delicious wraps 😋😍 If you want to eat healthy and delicious and sit calmly - you should definitely go there 😉 Also, stuff is polite ☺️ I wish success to the owners for creating such a nice restaurant

the guy working there spoke to us in a belittling way, forced us to buy something and was just overall rude, would not recommend the place as the food is not even worth it.

While the food and drinks are amazing the real gem of this place is the atmosphere and staff who make it a joy to come to every time. I only had to come once to know it would be my regular stop and a week doesn't go by that I come in at least once. Also you were right, I can't believe I came in asking for chicken soup so much when the mushroom soup is perfection! Highly recommend to become your favourite stop in Colchester.

Great independant food & coffee place. Nice and friendly people, serving excellent coffee and ultrafresh food, which totally convinced me not to get elsewhere to enjoy an amazing cake with a pretty tasty beverage.

Went to Loofers café yesterday with my friend for the first time and it was great! Had the tuna panini and it was the best! The owner made the effort to come and chat which was really lovely and all the staff were so welcoming. Definitely better than going to Costa or Starbucks! You get more for your money and supporting a local business too! Will absolutely be returning soon!

Pre-Covid, we often visited for a snack lunch, enjoying a tuna melt panini. However, on returning we found it just wasn't the same. The tuna melt, was not so much 'melt' as 'warm limp cheese slice on warm tuna'. We put this down as a one off, returning a couple weeks later. This time it was even worse. Disappointed, we won't be returning.

Amazing little gem! Such a great variety on the menu for reasonable prices. Fresh tasting and good quality food and coffee (halloumi panini was delicious!). Looking forward to visiting again!

Das Frühstück war sehr lecker und vor allem frisch gemacht. Auch direkt nach Öffnung super freundlicher Empfang. Man fühlt sich wohl und aufgehoben. Es ist keine Massenabfertigung hier. Man sitzt gemütlich bei schönen Ambiente mit einem leckeren warmen Getränk und leckerem Essen.

Loofers was my go-to café whilst living in Colchester, and I always enjoyed the food and thought the price was reasonable. It has a lovely atmosphere, and would always be one of my top suggestions for a nice lunch or coffee in the area.

This morning my daughter and I had pancakes for breakfast with caffe lattes. The place was clean, owner and staff friendly. After almost 3 weeks of travel, I think it was the best coffee we've had. Leaving, we said goodbye but owner was busy and did not hear to reply; to my surprise he came to the door and hoped we enjoyed our meal and wished us a good day.

First time here (7/1/23). Lovely location and such delicious food and drink (at a reasonable price). Staff are lovely as well. Defiantly my new favourite place in Colchester. Will definitely come back. 😊

Visited for lunch first week in December, the food we received was sub standard and very expensive, I ordered the Chicken and Avocado toastie (cost £8!!!) and it came with packet Chicken and a smear of cheap Guacamole squirted in it from a bottle... it tasted rank so I returned it... Also had a Coleslaw which was completely tasteless and watery. Staff weren't accomodating and argued about the toastie I returned saying "thats just how it comes"!!... All other food ordered was below par aswell.. especially for the price tag!! All young and in-experienced staff that don't seem to care, so not suprised its going downhill. If you want somewhere decent to eat in town I highly recommend Timbers...

Hot chocolate for breakfast before shopping is the best way to start your day.

Came here a while ago with my mum for lunch, purchased the kids meal as we didn’t want to eat too much, was going out for dinner later. Ordered the cheese panini with potato wedges and just a standard flavoured latte, the latte was Luke warm, panini barley had no cheese and was so dry I wouldn’t even give it to kids the potato wedges were still frozen I asked the lady for some mayo and she brought over what looked like a kebab shop mayo which was vile and tasteless. I explained to the lady behind the bar that I wasn’t happy and I feel the quality of food had gone down hill, she went on to tell me that unfortunately because of food delivery shortages and various other reasons this was the issue. I’m sorry but I’m not after excuses I’d rather not hear them, just deliver food and drinks of a decent standard and there won’t be no complaints. Won’t be returning, mum also said the food was rubbish and considering how quiet it was with only us in there, service was poor.

We enjoyed our delightful lunch here. Coffee and milk smoothie are both very good. Chicken wrap is nicely filled and the couscous was full of flavour. We waited 40 min for our food though. All was good otherwise.

My young daughter and I went here Sunday after swimming - She really wanted a milkshake and not only did they do milkshake, but it came with whipped cream on top - needles to say she was very pleased and demanded I give the place a 5 star google review - in fairness, the food was good and the service helpful. Good at what they do, iId definitely be happy to go back.

Delightful lunch stop, great selection of wraps and hot food. We frequent this place almost every time we go to town as I am told by my husband that the coffee is also excellent. My favourite drink is their pineapple ice tea.

One of the few decent coffees you can get on a Sunday in colchester, smooth and biscuits espresso and most importantly they don't over heat the milk.

Loofers is a really welcoming cafe with plenty of seating and quick service, considering it is all made fresh to order. Buretos are worth a try. It's usually busy due to popularity so get in before the rush.

Very nice place. A hidden gem. There only appeared to be 2 people working out front when we visited and although it was busy they coped very well. The prices were reasonable and the drinks and snacks lovely. I recommend you visit this establishment over the well known corporate brands. We will visit again, next time for food as if looked lovely when other tables orders came out.
