I had my baby shower here last night and it was an amazing night, the staff were very helpful with my enquires before hand and very accommodating to how I wanted to set up. The atmosphere in the pub was lovely and all my guests had a fantastic time. I will definitely be back.

Whist going for a spring stroll around town we popped in for coffee and lunch , lovely to be able to sit out in the warm sunshine and eat alfresco, great coffee , husband had a bacon sausage sandwich and my daughter a ham cheese panini delicious 😋 friendly staff reasonable prices we will definitely be back

I visited the cafe today and was thoroughly impressed. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. There’s a really relaxed atmosphere and a strong community feel, with many of the patrons seeming to know the staff well. It is also dog friendly which is a bonus. I opted for The Mega “Patten Platter” Breakfast, which is excellent value for money, offering generous portions, a hot drink, and free refills - a rare find these days. Overall, a great experience, and I would highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area. I’ll definitely be back!

Myself and my wife took our four kids here as an end of term treat. Friendly, great selection of games and helpful manager who taught us how to play a few age-suitable games. Food also good, and huge milkshakes! Definitely worth a visit and, I suspect, we'll be back.

Amazing breakfast! Lovely little place, good food. Would definitely come back. Shame it’s not an obvious find. Took a while to find it on maps as it’s upstairs

2nd visit, love the great position and lovely staff. Easy access to town and cathedral. We walked from the train station .

Lovely little cafe, great staff, proper loose leaf tea. We went in for tea in the morning, then went back again for lunch. Couldn't fault it.

Great coffee! Great service and super friendly. A proper old fashioned coffee shop, full of locals and chit chat. The hot cross buns with locally made butter are a must! You smell them the moment you walk in and even though we were only there for the week, we felt like regulars after the first day.

My wife and I,visited for lunch today,we arrived at 12.15,for our pre booked table at 12.30,we were shown to our table and drinks order taken,the same lady came back and took our order,we had Mushrooms topped with haggis and cheddar cheese & Korean chicken strips,followed by Stilton & mushroom pie with REAL chips & Gammon and double egg & REAL chips,all the food was excellent as was the service,we will definitely be back as we have a birthday present voucher to spend,see you in the spring.

Decidimos visitar en base a las críticas y no decepcionó. El tiffin es absolutamente delicioso, piezas grandes y a un precio muy razonable. La persona en nuestra fiesta que no tiene un diente dulce tenía un enorme bollo de queso que dijo que también era muy bueno. Nos dieron la nuestra para llevar, pero la zona de la cafetería sería encantador para sentarse en demasiado Definitivamente vale la pena el bombo 😋

As ever the Thompsons Close cafe team have looked after us with their friendliness and warm and kind atmosphere. An oasis of peace in a busy world.

Whilst touring around we stopped here for lunch and so glad we did. A very pleasant cafe, lovely people running it , great food. The first thing you notice is how well kept and clean this place is. Secondly it’s difficult to choose from the varied menu, so many favourites.! So pleased I chose the sausage and mash. Never thought I’d rave about sausage & mash but it was lovely. Everything is cooked to perfection with high quality ingredients. Well worth a visit. If I lived nearby I’d be eating there regularly

Small venue, with beautifully cooked, flavoursome food. We had hake, duck and steak, and everyone very happy with their choice. Deserts delicious too.
