What can I say. The place is a beautiful little country pub. The atmosphere is fantastic and it is a beautiful place to enjoy a homemade meal at a very reasonable price. The food is fantastic. Would highly recommend

Our first visit after recently moving into the area and we were not disappointed. Will definitely be returning. A lovely friendly welcome and nice atmosphere. Clean and tidy with traditional countryside pub decor, comfortable and cosy. For our meals we had starters, mains and just left enough room for some deserts. All four of us enjoyed everything we had chosen, as the food was well presented, extremely tasty, well cooked and good sized portions. Some dishes are also available as small portions if you prefer. The menu has a good selection of all courses and the bar is also stocked with a very good variety of drinks. I would personally recommend booking in advance, as even on our visit (out of the main tourist season) the restaurant area filled up quickly during the evening. Prices are reasonable and represented excellent value for money.

Food and service very good Owners very friendly and food home cooked and delicious We were here on a Thursday evening and every table was full and pre booked so booking is recommended It’s fairly remote and usually full of locals but is an interesting option if staying in the area I’ve never seen Cranachan on any menu before even in Scotland and that was a really nice touch

Impeccable Sunday roast !!! Rib of beef cooked to perfection, heavily seasoned with a good amount of fat. Crisp potatoes, al dente root veg all tied up with a rich proper beef gravy. Fair play to whoever is manning the pans in the kitchen. Worth a venture out for sure, and was super cheap regardless of the quality being served. 🙏

If you’re in the area and love good food, this is the place to go. Here for a week, our first visit was for Sunday lunch. It was amazing. We had rib of beef, loads of meat, tasted amazing, lots of fresh vegetables. Service was excellent, very friendly. It was so good that we booked to come back on Thirsday night. Food was as great and service again warm and friendly. Highly recommend the scallops as a starter, cranachan as a dessert is just amazing. Our main courses of steak and ale pie, sirloin steak and sloppy joe burger were great, all beautifully cooked. Really worth a visit.

We visited this pub for food after reading other reviews on trip advisor. It was very quiet but well worth it. I ordered the chicken fillet with a mushroom sauce and my partner ordered the sirloin steak with mushrooms and tomatoes. Both came with chips and veg. I can honestly say this is the best food I have ever eaten in a pub, to the point I am tempted to come back for more tomorrow Thank you trip advisor for the reviews that sent us there

Visited as a family whilst on holiday - 3 adults and a 2 year old based on Trip advisor 5* ratings. Whilst the inside may not be particularly special, the food is! We had a selection of dishes with steak pie, chicken and mushroom pie and garlic chicken breast with chips and vegetables and all were very good. The pie crust towered above the plate and we all could have eaten a plate of the vegetables on their own, they were so good. The burger, chips and beans were enjoyed by grandson. Sticky toffee pudding and rice puddings for desserts were also excellent. Service was with a smile, we felt very welcome. The pub filled up with locals towards the end of the evening and they were friendly too.

Had a “last night” meal here whilst on a short break for daughter’s graduation and I have to say, the food surpassed any expectations we had based on other reviews, nothing was too much trouble. Three of us had steak, it covered half the plate and was cooked to perfection - the accompanying vegetables had to stay in their bowls until we’d made space! The other three’s meals were just as good and substantial. Dessert-wise, two had the brownie which apparently was the best they’d ever tasted, two had the strawberry sundae and my father-in-law had the banoffe pie which he said was excellent. All in all, fantastic homemade food and very reasonably priced. I hope more people take the time to try it out.

Picked this place for a meal based on TripAdvisor reviews - it's in a very small village way out in the sticks, but worth the trip. The ambiance of the place lacks a little, but the owners have the place very clean and are very attentive. The menu is limited, but what is delivered is top notch. We ordered Steak and Ale pie and it came packed with really succulent beef chunks in a thick gravy - really tasty. The desserts are good too - we had the Ice cream - Lakeland; which was some of the best I've had. Definitely worth a visit!!

Our first visit to the Joiner's Arms and we were extremely impressed. Excellent service; friendly staff and a good menu. The ham hock and home made picalilli was probably the best I've ever tasted. Today my friend and I went to the Joiners Arms after hearing about their Thursday lunch time specials . We were greeted by the owner and we sat by the lovely log burner. We looked at the menu and decided to go for the 3 course lunch for £9.95 . The starter was Mushroom and Stilton soup with a lovely fresh warm roll. The soup was delicious. For our main course we had Scampi, which was served with chips and a fresh salad. There was a good choice of sweets - I had the raspberry pavlova - which I must say was the best I have had - the meringue was cooked to perfection and served with lots of raspberries. My friend had the ice cream - which also went down a treat. To top off the meal we had coffee. The whole meal was absolutely lovely and in my opinion excellent value for money. The owners are very friendly and the pub is lovely and warm and does have a nice homely atmosphere. I would certainly recommend the Joiners Arms and we will be definitely be going back in the near future.

My niece & her husband took my wife & I to the 'Joiners Arms' for a birthday treat, It was quite busy being a Saturday night, & I must say the staff coped very well. I had the haggis wrapped in wild mushroom, really tasty, Surf & turf for main course also very tasty, only disappointment was, as I don't like onion rings, I asked for fried onions with my steak, unfortunately got onion rings ( they didn't have time to cook fried onions). The chips are probably the best I've ever had and the battered sausages to die for! The other half had the haddock supper and claimed it was the best he's ever had. Decent portions, the price is up there but not much different than your average chippy to be fair. The girls were lovely and had the food ready in good time. We would take a trip back to the island just for another feed at the Hungry Seal lol 10/10 for us! (Not my picture, found in Google search)

... indeed they do! Imagine taking a rare 300+ mile journey to revisit your childhood memories, including that of the pub that you were born in. Imagine turning up at the said establishment, full of excitement and anticipation only to be shouted at "You can't park here, I'm expecting people for Sunday Lunch" - maybe the Landlord was psychic and knew we weren't his intended visitors, or he only serves his local clientele with charm? Imagine then trying to hold a conversation with said Landlord about the past, who clearly wasn't interested, simply citing "things change". Indeed they do... just not always for the better... as evidenced at The Bush (previous name, from back in (much) better times.
