A wander along the road from the Lomond Hills Hotel is the busy Bridgend Garden Centre with a cafe inside, The Gardeners Rest. We waited, and waited, and waited, I even went to the toilet before we were served.. and then our cutlery arrived...  Not filthy, but not what is expected, both of us had dirty cutlery, we won't mention the one cloth that goes around all the tables to clean them. A small milk for me, and an Americano for the man.   It was a choice between Lentil or Potato and Leek on the soup menu today, Mark plumped for the Lentil.  He said it was OK, nothing amazingly tasty and could have been warmer. A small macaroni and cheese for me, with a choice of chips, salad or garlic bread.  The usual Scottish style macaroni of white sauce topped with cheese.  It was OK, nice indigestion for the rest of the day. This was what made the visit, rhubarb pie and custard.   Verdict Meh,  slow service and the food was average.  If going, stick with the cakes.

Don’t go awful rude aggressive staff OMG apparently I am barred despite never being there on accused night. Was told by the exceptionally rude aggressive finger pointing bar boy that I had apparently been there drinking at table 2 (wherever that is) “a while back” with some girlfriends and was drinking my own wine. He said if I gave my name he could say if it was me. I did and apparently he didn’t know the name of the person so therefore could not substantiate this ridiculous and offensive claim. Never in my life have I encountered such rudeness and unjustifiable accusation. I would happily admit to any wrongdoings but being accused of frequenting a venue on a day/night that I wasn’t there and accused wrongly of behaviour that I would not commit in a bar that I have always paid good money in is beyond belief. Do not go - rude, inconsiderate staff who blandly tell lies and accuse innocent people Previous experience has always been great. I even have a discount card, previous staff wonderful - this young boy awful, no customer service and it is easy to say that it’s not acceptable in this day in age to actually finger point at someone and talk aggressively. He did actually point his finger at me with no proof. Nor had no name of the supposedly accused person or when I asked for the cctv camera proof he could not provide any evidence Please don’t go, staff who behave like this should be trained properly or work in a different environment.

We had reserved a table for 3pm and we were told we needed to leave at 3:40 for the next customer . We had just finished the meal not even finished our drinks. I would not go back and would not recommend. You can’t kick customers out for the next customer if they have only been there 40 mins and are still finishing their drinks..

We visited here on a cold winter day. The drinks were hot and the cake choices were excellent, and very tasty (albeit a tad overpriced) The staff were very friendly. It was a shame that we were unable to sit inside to enjoy our purchases as the small seating area upstairs was occupied by a couple with a large dog, blocking the doorway. My partner is scared of dogs so we had to sit outside in the freezing cold where we watched several dogs with owners going into the store. Call me old fashioned but I do not think, anywhere that sells food should be allowing dogs in at all. It is just unacceptable to us. Dogs should be outside and if that means their owners have to sit outside, then rather them than us. Unfortunately, we do not revisit places that allow animals in, however good the produce.

Popped aquí para un café y pastel de frutas y queso Wensleydale, la comida era buena, pero el servicio era terrible. Había una señora mayor en la caja preparando comida y bebidas, era muy eficiente, pero las chicas más jóvenes eran tan perezosas. La señora tenía una cola de gente para servir, pero había dos chicas llenando las patatas fritas, una salió de la cocina secando un cuchillo para poner en el recipiente de cubiertos. La señora al servir a mi pareja le pidió a una de las chicas que cortara el pastel y ella dijo ¡oh, no creo que pueda cortar eso! En general, una verdadera decepción para nuestras visitas anteriores.

Great night, with great music even for non drinkers! Not sure of food, as didn't have any.

Popped in for lunch after our excellent boat trip on Liana next door. Clean & welcoming with super fast service. We both had the leak & potato soup. Piping hot, perfect consistency with bite size lumps of potato plus strips of leak. It needed absolutely no seasoning, a superb taste, with bread & butter. We agreed probably the best we’ve ever had! Many thanks!!

Love to have a cafe like this in Sweden, there is some great cities all around Sweden where you could open a cafe like this one for instance Stockholm, Jonkoping,Gothenburg, Helsingborg. Swedish people love there cafes and Nespresso.

Celebramos nuestra fiesta de Navidad en el terraplén este año. El lugar se veía increíble un verdadero país de las maravillas de invierno, recibimos una cálida bienvenida de todo el equipo, incluido un elfo alegre! Estábamos sentados en la sala de jardín que estaba muy bien decorado, las bebidas que habíamos reservado estaban en las mesas cuando llegamos. La calidad de la comida era excelente. Teníamos 52 invitados, que estaba un poco aplastado cuando estábamos sentados y por desgracia no pudimos mezclarnos con los otros huéspedes debido a la falta de espacio, que era el único inconveniente de una noche encantadora.

Delicious food and friendly service. The take away breakfast sandwiches were so delicious we went back a second time!

Lovely venue with excellent fare served by friendly staff. Really enjoyed 'paint a pot' with the delightful Hayley afterwards too.

Absolutamente han clavado el resumen de 'nueva normalidad' con servicio de mesa con una sonrisa y distanciamiento social hecho a la perfección. Como resultado, el lugar está constantemente animado sin sentirse abarrotado o incómodo. Recientemente organizaron nuestras bebidas de compromiso y no podría haber pedido un mejor servicio o una experiencia general completa. Larga vida al caballo blanco

Having read some earlier reviews I was a little apprehensive but can assure prospective customers that the poor reviews are really not justified .Yes the menu choice was small but the three of us had different main courses and we agreed all were delicious. Luckily my wife's haddock and chips was too large a portion so I had to help her finish it. What a hardship! Nice crisp batter and triple cooked chips. Service was adequate, if a little slow, but we were not in a hurry. Nice ambience and reasonably priced.
