The Gardeners Rest in Fife

We went for lunch. Lovely big airy restaurant Staff were all pleasant and friendly. I had Fish and Chips it came with peas and little dish of tartare sauce it was excellent the other two had macaroni and chips both were a bit disappointed and would have something else next time we visit.

Really nice food and excellent service. Good quality and not expensive. We ordered panini and it was cooked perfectly and really tasty.

Popped in today. We both had the Cullen skink. It was delicious. I must say. Staff were friendly, and big smiles are always a bonus. Well done to all today..including the young lad, who we caught a glimpse of in the kitchen..

Great food and plenty of it. 1st visit for us. We both had the full breakfast and a coffee. Didn't have to wait long for our food and there was plenty of it too. I can't fault the food or the service. We will definitely be going back

Visited today for the first time in ages but was very disappointed by the rude staff one in particular who put me off returning despite the food being good.

We had lunch of cullen skink and haggis and steak pie, the latter was ok but the veg are tasteless, the haggis and potatoes were cold, the cullen skink was ok but not great with lots of potato and little fish. Staff are friendly and helpful and service was efficient despite a full restaurant. There are tables where you can take your dog if needed. People were being given 20-30 minute wait times if they didnt have a reservation. Ambience is average. Prices are very fair.

Great meal, refreshed setting with upgraded Cafe. Meal wash fresh and hot I have the add day breakfast which was delicious a coffee and Diet Coke, my friend had the macaroni with a Fanta both lovely, we even took cake home! Great staff, all round lovely.

We arrived at a busy time but the friendly staff member said there were no tables and to have a look around the garden centre and try back in 15 minutes but there were no promises. We went to look around but decided to go out to the car and as we walked back we passed the cafe, there was another party with the same amount of people and the server said she'd take their name and reserve the table for them and to come back in 5 minutes! I think if you're doing this then it should be the same for all. Not impressed. It looked nice too.

Dropped in for lunch and was pleased to see all the preventive Covide measures in place .Name and address,staff fully masked tables separated by screens and friendly service .I had a nice Tuna and Mayo baked potato and my grand Daughter had a bacon roll and chips ,not a big menu but good wholesome cooking . What a difference the makeover has made with bright lighting and new tables

A large plate of poor quality ingredients. Very disappointing from a local company with the potential to support good quality butchers. Overpriced and not worthy of a second visit.

Called in here whilst my husband was in the area for business. Had the Scottish breakfast - very tasty, if a little overcooked but excellent value for money as you could have a refill on your coffee. So pleased went back later and had a cheese scone - which came with an extra pot of cheese on the side! If I was ever in the area agin I would go back. Staff were lovely too.

We had friends staying over & decided to treat them to breakfast here as our local was closed. The lorne sausages were hard and crispy. The black pudding and haggis was crunchy on the outside. Fried egg was solid. The tea was in a small pot which was enough for one cup. No refills offered. The 2 slices of toast came with one small pat of butter which was just enough for one slice. It was disappointing and embarrassing, since we’d brought our guests for breakfast. Having said that, whilst waiting to pay at the counter, we saw the most gorgeous cakes and scones on display. Will visit again for afternoon tea and see how that goes.🤞🏻

Having had a lot of excellent breakfasts in the past, I ordered a small Scottish breakfast this morning. First of all I said I didn't want a fried egg as I don't like them but, unlike in other restaurants I go to, they did not offer an alternative. When breakfast arrived, at first glance, it looked lovely but on turning the toast over, found that the underside was very burnt and I could only just eat one half of the slice. I had not been given a choice of link or lorne sausage and the lorne I got was completely overcooked and hard and I could only eat a small part in the centre. At no point did anyone come and ask if everything was OK (as has been done in the past) and when I paid, the cashier did not even ask if I had enjoyed the meal (as has been done in the past). All in all a very disappointing experience and it will be some time before I go back.

Great service, attentive but not intrusive, magnificent food. The soup was very tasty and hearty, hot and filling. The scones were a delight as was the Clipper tea. We will return soon and might even buy some plants.

Visited here with family for lunch. Greeted by friendly staff. Good selection on the menu and there was a specials board. Prices were very reasonable. We will definitely be back.

Perfect venue for taking dogs when a coffee and scone are needed, even have dog friendly, not of course dog only, tables to sit at. Brought my young dog here to learn manners and staff were brilliant. Food isn’t too pricey either so a definite thumbs up for me.
