The best restaurants serving Japanese food in Glasgow City Glasgow and Surrounding

Food took way too long to arrive (20-30 minutes). It seemed like the kitchen prioritised takeaway orders. plus to change the salad from the bento into avocado costs £3!!! The salmon teriyaki bowl was quite disappointing in my opinion, I had expected something more than just rice and salmon with a sprinkle of vegetable for a £12 bowl. Would not recommend that. However, good thing was the king prawn tempura, it’s really big and that was probably the best part. (Although wouldn’t recommend it with the Ramen as all the batter got soggy and mixed into the miso soup.) The waiter was helpful although did not seem quite friendly. Overall, nothing special about the place, food was mediocre and wouldn’t come back here again. There are better Japanese places in Glasgow city centre with better food quantity and quality like Nuku Nuku or Maki and Ramen.

Ordered 3 entrees & 1 main to share here. Ordered glasses of water, only 1 arrived. No side plates for sharing, was told I didn’t ask for the plates. Not sure how I was meant to eat what I ordered. Food was not very hot & quite disappointing. I have eaten in Wagamama mainly times before but not this one

Was geared up to go here as friends' said reviews were good. Dreadful meal!! Worst in a long while. "Veggie Katsu - crispy mixed vegetables"...Not so, a small bed of stodgy white rice, with 4 flat potato croquettes on it. Inside the 'croquettes' was mashed potato, some sweetcorn bits, and miniscule carrot fragments!! Next to the rice was curry sauce, the kind you get with chips. No crispy vegetables or vegetables in sight. Will definitely NOT recommend at all. Find somewhere else!! A complete rip off.

Been to wagamama a few times so know what to expect! There are a few new dishes on the menu, so we had chicken yakitori skewers and Korean barbecue beef buns as a starter, then we both had chicken gochujang rice bowl. All dishes were delicious. The rice bowl is quite spicy but still very tasty. Our waitress was really lovely. Service was good. Not the cheapest place to eat but worth it. Definitely try these dishes again!

My partner and I don't get to go out often, as we have a gorgeous baby. Couple time is rare! Tonight was really busy, and we were honestly blown away by Nadia. Usually you appreciate the service staff being busy and things take a bit of additional time. We have been there and know it is no easy job. Nadia was so naturally lovely, polite and efficient. They tended to all of their section and it was clear they ensured everyone was well looked after. Nadia had great recommendations and we were so pleased with her amazing service throughout our time there, that we wanted to buy her some cheesecake (that she said was her favourite) for after her shift. We know that might sound a bit odd, but a really small gesture can go a long way. Dates out, for us, are rare. Although they treated everyone the same, Nadia made us feel really special. We wanted to say thank you and really show our appreciation. Thank you!!

Been going to this place every so often since it first opened way back when. Found out about the sushi school via a gift website. Had a little trouble calling (voicemail always full) and the emails took a few goes and some to-ing and fro-ing, but eventually got booked. The class is a proper laugh. You make LOADS of sushi, the menu was altered slightly as we had some vegans in the group, but those who also defo wanted to make meat sushi were still able to. Staff were informative and lovely,

I had a fantastic experience at Kokoro Glasgow! Among all the top-rated restaurants I’ve tried in the city, this one truly stands out. The food is absolutely delicious, and the restaurant maintains a high level of cleanliness and efficiency. A special thanks to Mitra for their excellent service—it made the visit even better! She was welcoming and attentive, which added to the overall positive experience. The menu offers a great selection of vegetarian options. The fresh sushi and katsu salad were both exceptional—flavorful and perfectly portioned for a satisfying meal. Highly recommend Kokoro Glasgow for anyone looking for tasty Japanese food with great service. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Place was almost empty, were told no seats available only bar stools. Waited 45 minutes for Ramen and it didn't come, when we asked the waiter he disappeared and didn't come back to explain or apologize... Walked out
