Absolute taste sensation, love the quality of the food.

The atmosphere when you walk in is very welcoming and fun. I have been to Japan many times, and was blown away by the ramen here. Everything was amazing and exactly what I was looking for. This place has my highest recommendation for good food, and nice staff! Would come back anytime.

I’ve read quite a few good reviews about this restaurant so maybe my expectations were too high. The food was alright but nothing special, however the worst thing for me was the service. Never was I asked if the food was okay (specially when my sister left quite a bit of food on the plate), wasn’t offered the dessert menu when they took the plates, and when I asked for the bill the waitress just left the receipt with us and walked away. Could’ve done with better service, specially when the 10% are mandatory. What a shame, maybe I was unlucky.

The food left something to be desired, in addition to the service not being correct, they didn't ask questions such as "Do you need anything?" "Is the food good?" I asked for the bill and it was handed to me arrogantly, and it took them a long time to bring the machine to pay with an ATM card. I think they should pay attention to the needs of their customers and be careful about how they approach them.

I've been to other Maki and Ramen branches before but this is the first time where the server is kind to spilt the bill and the service charge for us. Great food and big portions, and quite a large range of food selection as well.

We ate at a ramen restaurant the previous night in Edinburgh that was so bland and tasteless we didn't finish the meal. We had to give Scotland a chance to redeem itself for ramen and sushi. Maki & Ramen was a great choice. The ramen is flavorful and rich. My wife got a yakisobe with fried chicken... the chicken was perfectly breaded and cooked. Great dinner, would highly recommend!

We ate seafood ramen and chicken noodles, although the seafood was scarce, it still tasted good. To be frank, the price was a bit high. We paid 42 pounds in total for 2 people, which seemed a bit expensive.

Best ramen I had. I ordered the seafood Hell ramen. It came with salmon. I indeed enjoyed my dish. The restaurant is quite popular so service can be improved! The price is reasonable. Food is sumptuous! Try it when you’re in Buchanan St, Scotland!😋

The food was amazing, but the service was so poor. We were waiting 45 mins for a table and they said we would get free drinks for the wait. They didn't mention that this does not apply for non-alcoholic drinks though. Then there was an extra 45 min wait for the bill at the end. And the toilets are awful, set off from the main area and mixed gender which is not safe for women.

Consistently fantastic, if you don't go here then go to one of the other Maki & Ramen branches in the city. The Black Garlic Tonkotsu and Chicken Mayo Karaage are my go-to.

We had the black garlic tonkutsu and hell ramen, and they are unexpectedly good! Also great service and there’s an Asian waitress made us feels very welcomed!

Absolutely love this place. Food is always immaculate. Not sure what to get? Go for the Black Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen, you won’t be disappointed. Staff were a little hard to get their attention after we had ordered our food, but they were fully there when we arrived, so that’s why 4 stars

Tienen una gran selección de ramen, sushi y otros platos japoneses. Fuimos por gyozas y 2 tipos de ramen y todos eran excelentes. Su casa lager era bastante bueno también. Los precios son un poco altos, pero las porciones son bastante grandes también, así que es aceptable. El servicio fue muy profesional. Tienen un cargo de servicio del 10%, así que - 1 estrella por eso, ya que es un dinero ridículo - agarrar táctica de movimiento que necesita parar. Curiosamente habríamos dado propinas más que esto, así que ni siquiera es en su mejor interés.

This is my favourite place to eat in Glasgow. I love their food and it never disappoints. Always busy and always worth it. Love Ramen and Sushi - this is the place for you 10/10

We come here a lot and love the food, always very nice staff and nice atmosphere. If you come get the spicy tuna hosomaki or rolls (although maybe don’t because I want them myself)

My husband and I were recently in Japan and very keen to have ramen again. We came here based on reviews, and we were trying really hard not to compare it to Japan, but we were slightly disappointed. It is expensive for what it is, fair enough it is in Glasgow city centre. It is very expensive for ramen here - £14 a bowl. In Japan it is £7 with a beer. My husband's ramen was the classic ramen bowl, he said the broth was flavourless. Both our noodles were really thin for ramen. We asked for water at the end and the waiter seemed surprised - also everyone else got a carafe full and we just got a cup! Again, don't like to compare it to Japan, but a jug of ice cold water is standard on their tables. If you were looking for an authentic Japanese experience, not convinced this is it, but the setting was nice, the staff were friendly.

Big portion, can taste the ramen broth are boiled for hours to bring out the taste

I ordered a Yakisoba dish which came with very little vegetables, I also ordered the rice tea which I have had before and know how it should taste, this was nothing like it should be, my advice is to find somewhere else, plenty of choice in Glasgow.

Great place! We were seated quickly and the service was so friendly. We were collectively more of a fan of the ramen (great!) than the sushi (good). Fun energy to this location. The other location was booked up and I'm happy it was because it led us here.

Ordered 2 hot sushi roll sets. Was brought within 2 minutes. Not freshly cooked. Heated in the microwave. Disappointed.

I have been to 2 other maki & ramen chains in the past. My favourite one is the Edinburgh one and the Manchester one is also great. This time I got round to the Glasgow one but through takeout so I cannot comment on Atmosphere but overall maki & ramen usually do well in terms of aesthetics. I ordered the tantan ramen and the avocado and salmon sushi which is my go to with any m&r chain. However I feel like the glasgow one overpowers more with spices and the flavour balance was slightly off. Still, it is favourable, lots of meat and good quality ramen. The sushi is also fresh and lovely so would recommend. It is on the pricier side but i’d still say its worth it. Delivery was also fast I think I waited about 20 mins

We had a selection of different nigiris as well as a ramen. The entire meal was very tasty, the service was very attentive and the atmosphere was very nice.

I have tried food from Maki and ramen in Edinburgh and it tasted amazing . The food taste and serving here was but different from some reason. I would prefer the edinbrugh brach .

They have both traditional sushi dishes and some of their own signature dishes. We prefer the more traditional stuff, thus we got several dishes of their sushi and it was quite good. It's maybe not the best sushi we've had, but it was what we were looking for. The prices are quite reasonable as well as you get eight large pieces in each order. They also have ramen, which a lot of people seem to be ordering but we did not try it. A nice option if you want some sushi or ramen in the area, or if your group wants a little of each.

I like Maki and Ramen food however, i stopped eating there as i find the prices expensive regarding the portions. Also they normally add 10% service fee which i think is unnecessary, we are not in New York. Instead i found a better and cheaper restaurant near town called Umami ❤️ I highly recommend it. Happy pride month 🏳️‍🌈

Ramen 🍜 places scores are massively inflated on Google, but this one is legitimately good. Great noodles, attentive staff, would come again 100%.

Had the best dining experience on the 25th July 2024 for dinner. For someone who has been absolutely terrified of trying new things especially Ramen, our waiter Dylan’s service was absolutely outstanding and was great at accommodating my fussiness lol. We were situated at the back with the table that looks like a desk as we had our 6 month old with us so there was plenty of space for him. Upon arrival to our table I told Dylan about how nervous I was as it was all very new to me and that I wouldn’t touch seafood or anything spicy. He was fab at explaining the menu in great detail as well as the flavour profiles and pointing out which ramen dishes had the most resemblance to like a chicken noodle soup broth as I can’t do spice, not even a little bit. He offered to let me try some of the broths before I decided and returned with two whole soup bowls of broth for us to sample. I went with the tonkotsu and my partner went for the black garlic tonkotsu so we could both try each others. Dylan recommended I get it with chicken as it was the best in his opinion. He was not wrong. Honestly was the best thing I have ever tasted in my life. Dylan’s attitude and kind courtesy towards us was immaculate from start to finish. Has to be one of the best experiences I’ve had in a long time. If your anything like me, ask for Dylan, he is more than happy to accommodate even the fussiest of eaters. Please give this boy a pay rise.

Very tasty Black garlic ramen. One dish size quite big, I was completely full.

Quick, easy and very tasty food. Decent pricing for what you get, with a decent selection of drinks to go alongside a fairly well stacked menu. Everything was cooked well, and is served as and when ready. My partner and her mum co.e here almost on a weekly basis and I can understand why after my first visit last week. I will certainly be returning again in the future. Katsu curry was a standout item for me.

Changing the review to one star until the automatic service charge (even for 1-2 ppl tables!) is removed. This is a horrible practice and I’d much rather decide to tip servers myself, rather than the restaurant owner sneakily getting away with paying their staff less and compensating with hidden fees. The food was excellent as always, but it’s already on a pricey side, which makes the automatic service charge that much more outrageous.

Was on a tight schedule (had to catch a train in 30 mins) and asked if they could manage it and they did. A delicious bowl of “hell” ramen was served to me in less than 5 mins. Left the restaurant within 20 mins, and managed to catch my train with no issue. As an Asian, I wasn’t expecting “hell” ramen in Glasgow to be spicy but it was and it was very yummy. I couldn’t finish my ramen and the waiter even offered to pack my food for takeout. Amazing service and food - highly recommended!

Really enjoyable meal, service was super quick. Great range of choices on the menu. Chicken teriyaki and a vegan pumpkin sushi were probably our 2 favourite dishes.

Basically no wait time for food - within minutes of being ordered it was already at our table! Friendly and attentive staff. Food was delicious and great value for money. Wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend!

Some of the best ramen I have had outside of Japan. Loads of choice, this place is amazing. The noodles are all freshly made, and everything is so full of flavour. Would really recommend their Kimchi too!

We were the first customers to enter the restaurant when it opened, but everyone who arrived after us was served before us. It took over 45 minutes for our food to arrive, and the waitress was particularly rude to us. We were the only brown people in the restaurant at the time and felt an undercurrent of racism. When we were getting ready to leave after paying the bill, the rude waitress loudly asked if we were leaving without paying. This was extremely disrespectful, as she should have checked her system or asked the other waitress serving us before making such an accusation. Our experience was awful; the waitress was not only disrespectful but also spoke to us in a rude tone.

I dined at Maki & Ramen and absolutely love their chicken karaage ramen. It was delightful and amazing! This was my fourth time having the same dish! My friend had Steak Tataki Ramen which was gooood as well! Highly recommend!

Amazing service and good. I got the tofu yakisoba with salmon, and my husband got the chicken yakisoba. Beautiful dish and atmosphere, servers allowed us to put our luggage in the back so we are more comfortable, despite the size of the shop itself.

The best Japanese ramen in Glasgow! The tonkotsu soup base is super rich! ! Especially recommend the black garlic ramen (black garlic tonkotsu) We went to eat at 2pm, and there were so many people. It took us a while to wait for our turn to order, but the taste was definitely worth the wait! The ramen costs 12-13 pounds. The only drawback is that the noodles are thin and would be stronger if they were thicker. The salmon is also very fresh and very good.

You’ll struggle to find a higher rated Japanese restaurant, but is all as it seems or is there something fishy going on? Let’s find out! Sushi pun intended. It’s a rainy midweek and the place is packed. Our server is wearing loosely fitting traditional garb and explains the menu politely. Service is relaxed and studenty. The food arrives in record time and is weighty in volume. Flavours are punchy and well plated if a little robotic looking. It’s the McDonald’s of ramen. Everything refined to maximise volume and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. They encourage google reviews with a QR code at the end of the meal and the whole experience is casual, cost effective and comforting. It might not be a full five star dining experience but it’s as reliable as a Volvo at Xmas.

I had the seafood hell ramen and oh boyyy was it good! I cannot wait to go back to the same chain in the other cities. Its been a while since I tried as good ramen as that one - and that was in Japan ;) The kimchi was a bit dissapointment though, not fermented enough, very fresh and I think they add vinegar for the kick. But Ill give it another chance.

My son loves his ramen so took him here for a surprise treat. He had TONKOTSU and I had CHICKEN ramen. Absolutely delicious!!! The depth of flavour stays on your palate and in your food memory banks for a long time. We also had CHICKEN GYOZA, this was superb, could have eaten dozens of these. he GRILLED SUSHI SET vanished in the blink of an eye. Excellent service, atmosphere and most importantly the food is super tasty. I can see this being a regular haunt for us. Thanks to everyone at Maki for putting big smiles on our faces and incredible food in out bellies.

Great restaurant in Glasgow which reconciled me a little with the city. Very good atmosphere with good music, adorable and professional waitresses. Excellent dishes, plentiful and reasonably priced. In the city center and near the Vue cinema.

Black Garlic Tonkutsu Ramen is delicious every time we've visited and service is pretty quick. Was taken aback at having an automatic 10% gratuity added to our bill. When we refused we were asked 'why?'. This soured our experience as it felt like we were being pressured into it and we don't appreciate being confronted in this way. Disappointed that we have to weigh up whether good food warrants social pressure.

I recently visited Maki & Ramen in Glasgow, and unfortunately, my experience was a letdown. While the service was good and fast, the food was a major disappointment. As a fan of Japanese cuisine, I was expecting high-quality sushi, but what I got was a far cry from it. The rolls I ordered were akin to the cheap, mass-produced ones you find in supermarkets. They lacked the freshness, flavor, and presentation that I've come to expect from authentic Japanese sushi restaurants. I was shocked to see that this place has such a high rating, as the quality of the food is nowhere near what I've experienced at other Japanese restaurants. To make matters worse, the price was quite steep - £35 per person! For that price, I expect exceptional food and service, but unfortunately, Maki & Ramen fell short on both counts. The food was not only subpar but also overpriced, making it a disappointing and expensive experience. Rating: 2/5 stars Price: £35 per person (expensive and not worth it) Recommended for: Those looking for a quick, affordable meal, but not for those seeking authentic Japanese cuisine or value for money.

Ramen at its best. Super tasty and delicious, all to the 80’s body popping vibes. Super quick service and team are happy to mix up the recipes to give you yummy ramen.

We ordered the Hell ramen, chicken yakisoba, chicken gyoza and the avocado salmon roll. They are all very nice and authentic I will say. The atmosphere and the interior of the restaurant is nice as well. I would definitely come back.
