My friend and I came for lunch. Second time and we'd come again. Food was delicious and staff were so helpful and friendly.

Very responsible deals, lovely atmosphere & amazing food.

Service was first class and very quick. The food has amazing taste, You can taste the fresh ingredients used. Got the large sharing cocktail was beautiful.

Waited an hour and 15 minutes for food for a table. Had three rounds of drinks by the time our food arrived never even got an apology when asked where our food was. Disappointing to say the least, however food was lovely and so was the cocktails just the wait let it down.

We waited an hour & half for our food, and had to ask a member of staff how long our food would be, to be told it would be with us in 5 minutes. 20 mins later we had to ask again and had said it it wasn't with us in the next 5 minutes we would be leaving. However our food arrived very very soon after & the same member of staff told us our bill had been cleared as the food was getting placed on the table, this also included our drinks. Obviously we were delighted with that & the food was absolutely amazing & the staff were lovely & it won't stop us going back again as the food was 10/10 Brilliant customer service & not many places would clear the bill. We will be back!

Change of menu was a surprise as it no longer had my favourite dish. Food ordered was excellent but had a long wait for it to arrive

Booked early 545 thought we would miss some of the crazy people ! Family dinner kids of 7&12 both were getting a little hungry after 1hr wait for food ! Bar seemed more interested in selling cocktails beer etc than getting food to you . Looking around we were not the only table waiting and getting a bit frustrated

Ate here on Mother’s Day for the launch of their new Sunday Roast menu. Food was so nice, I had the beef my husband had the pork and both were delicious. Really big portion sizes. They also have a really great selection of alcohol free cocktails for the non drinkers. Definitely be back.

Food was exceptional. Lovely selection Server....rude and ignorant. Spilt beer over me as he was reaching.....couldn't care less. Food took 50 mi ures and he got stroppy when I asked if everything was OK with order as we were in a hurry now as we were running late. Even trying to pay was a challenge.

Food was amazing and really big portions. Tried loads of katsu curries and Bar Soba’s is always the best! Such a nice area to sit for dinner and a drink. Really good service as well :)

Lovely food, but service was very slow. I appreciate it was busy, but waiting almost an hour for the main course was just too long.

I went there along with my Husband and two of his friends. It was a starlit place very beautiful for a date night or a wee nice evening out there with your friends. We ordered Red Thai curry with rice 10/10 Pad Thai Veg 9.5/10 Nasi goreng 10/10 Must Try Tofu Katsu Curry 10/10 The sauce in this was 🤌🏾 Cauliflower Bao 7/10 Duck Gyoza 7/10

Chicken was dry and overdone. One dish was not delivered and was then charged which unfortunately was the Asian greens - they would have helped cut through the heaviness of the other dishes we had. We perhaps didn’t order well but missing a dish was poor (we wondered whether we had forgotten to order). There were also a few ‘crashes’ when we were there and there was broken glass in the disabled toilet! Don’t know what was going on but definitely needs a shake up. In summary - waitress we had was pleasant enough and food was ‘ok’ - some tasty some just heavy handed. We did enjoy the vibe

Love it, great food with plenty of choice for everyone & excellent attentive service even for large tables. Great for groups and very flexible for those with dietary needs as the menu accommodates for all, including vegans or vegetarians. Highly recommend for a meal out with friends!

We were sat outside with the street side door into merchant city . It was freezing cold . Food great as usual but very dissatisfied with the ambiance of the restaurant. I don’t think we will be back

The most disgusting food I have had in a while and it took them 1 hour to serve it to us. I would not recommend this place and I would definitely call the health inspector as everything tastes old or preheated.

Was here for Hogmanay, had a great time - food was very nice & drinks fine. Our seating arrangements were spot on. Staff all nice and friendly, very helpful - any issues dealt with promptly. Only downside was that the toilets were not well maintained at all - it was of course busy but still could’ve maybe done with a permanent attendant working there for the night.

Booked for hogmanay, very badly organised the main event in Merchant Square was shockingly bad, dance show was not professionally done, the lady on the saxophone played out of sink completely and sounded awful, live band you could say were just about was ok, despite perseverance not a enjoyable night left early , chaotic lacked proper planning , they had cleaners going around main floor space with mops and buckets, overall a very poor standard for Merchant square. If we could have we definitely would have complained on the night and insisted on a refund, but that wasn't possible, it was impossible to know how to do that other than speak to bar staff & we felt that was a environment to do so. Bar soba was unclean, toilets shocking , no festive atmosphere at all in the bar itself , music was exsessively loud, selection of songs badly chosen , on a positive bar staff were very nice all except 1 who was not very welcoming staff appeared over run & disorganised.

Not for me. +The person who I was with, who was eating, enjoyed their food very much (they had katsu curry and gyoza - pic). +Staff were polite, presentable, and take allergens seriously. -I found the place too noisy for my liking (definitely more of a bar than a restaurant). -Seats were not clean (stains etc), wiped mine down and wipe was no longer white (pic). -Toilets had a urine smell and the toilet seat had the entire lid lying on the floor next to it, and some graffiti on the wall. Just didn't make a good first impression on me; the student/graduate crowd seem to enjoy it here.

Absolutely amazing food, especially worth visiting if you're looking for vegan options. The Thai yellow (asked for it extra spicy) was incredible! The crispy cauliflowerand the Thai chips really rounded off the meal!

In response to your reply. To say we were greeted implies we were given a friendly welcome which is not the greeting we received, in a restaurant that was still wasn’t busy when we left. You’ve also not addressed us politely asking to speak to the manager. My issue doesn’t arise with either the food, mistake or the employee who was polite and addressed us at the end when we still didn’t get speaking to the manger. It is a representation of the overall experience that you provided, from ‘’greeting’’ us to telling us that the manager had said that we had to take the food and would still be charged for it, regardless if we took it or not (which only the server at the end said we wouldn’t have to pay for the dish), this experience is just further highlighted by your response to the review. Went to the restaurant at 12 today, was greeted with a dull welcome as if we were an inconvenience. The lady then seemed to struggle to find us a space to sit in the near empty restaurant. The food I ordered didn’t arrive until all my friends had finished their food (we had told the server who delivered the food initially that it was missing and were never informed if it was then coming or not). I told them I didn’t want the food at that stage as we were ready to leave and was informed that the manager said we needed to take the food and would be charged for it. We asked to speak to the manager 3 times and the manager never had the decency or respect to come over and speak to us. The food was good, but the service wasn’t pleasant.

Out for a catch up with old work colleagues, food and cocktails were great and made all the better by the excellent service from Brooke our waitress. She recommended the best options for our vegetarian friend, and went above and beyond to make sure we had a nice evening. Even recommending where would be lively for drinks on a Monday night after dinner. We all ordered a few things and shared tapas style, Cauliflower Bao Bun and Korean Popcorn Chicken were my faves and of course the dirty fries. Will be back!

Visited on a Saturday afternoon for a boozy brunch. Ordering was easy, but waited 30 minutes for a drink. So long that the food arrived prior to drinks. Food was okay, though some of the group complained that theirs was cold. It then took ages for more drinks to be offered, so ended up ordering the remaining 3 drinks at once as our 2 hours was almost up. Very disappointed and unlikely to return.

It had been a while since I’d been to Soba, and my last experience here hadn’t been amazing. However, I loved this visit. The food was tasty, the service was attentive, the atmosphere is good. The outdoor table meant the food got cold quite quickly…but also, we could have chosen to sit inside so that’s not on Soba! It can be quite pricey for the amount of food, but I don’t mind when it’s decent.

We had a group boozy brunch. The deal is great especially with the 4 cocktails included in the price. The food was lovely and good portion size. Only issue was the service was a tad patchy and took a bit of time but the staff were courteous and lovely and when its cocktails service always takes a tad longer. It just felt like the bar could have had more staff to assist with table service as well as the bar .

Absolutely delicious Bao Buns. Available on the fantastic lunch menu which includes a soft drink for only £7! Unbeatable value!

Great lunch deal for £7 with soft drink included. The satay bao bun was amazing, the chicken was so tender and really lovely peanut butter flavour.

Came here last night for mums birthday. Service was a bit slow, nonetheless cocktails were nice and food was yummy👌.

Disappointing. Once order placed food took 40 minutes to arrive with no explanation or apology. Food was fairly average with the paneer burger being tasteless and oily.

Food was tasty, but don't come here hungry... you'll leave hungry. Portion sizes are very small. Paid £13.50 for a cup of rice and a meager serving of chicken and veg. Ordered 3 sides and shared them but, leaving to get food somewhere else as I'm still ABSOLUTELY famished. Mains felt like starters, not what I remembered it to be. Only pluses was the extensive, though pricey, cocktail menu and the great music.

We come here quite a lot and theme food is always good. Booked for a 30th Birthday party. We did have a wee bit of a wait for our food but the serving staff were very friendly and helpful and took care of us. Food was a bit hit with all. We had a fab time!

We placed an order online and only half of our order arrived. We were charged £43.70 for one noodles and chips. Tried calling the restaurant several times and had no answer. We have actually ordered many times from this place and food is always inconsistent. Different type of beef/prawns used and different noodles and sauce and always a different spice level. We would be happy with a refund but super inconvenient as now we are sharing food for 1 between 2 but can’t seem to get in touch with either the restaurant or uber to resolve,

Although it was a little quiet, Bar Soba is fantastic, and with the discount as a student was very affordable! I’ve been in a few times and every time it’s been fantastic. My server, Theo, was particularly good and gave me good recommendations and was very nice to speak to! Service was quick and the food was very tasty. One of my goto restaurants when I’m with friends.

Amazing experience today. Up beat atmosphere with great food and drinks. Cat and Caitlyn were extremely accommodating and ensured me and my party had the best time.

The food and drinks where amazing, really enjoyed them, but our waitress forgot our drinks twice and left us for 50 minutes in the back of her section, we felt really frustrated as we had the boozy brunch but the alcohol had worn off during the long waiting periods between drinks. Although this was a busy Saturday, definetly needed more experienced staff members on as service was awful.

Bar soba is one of those places thats the same everywhere and you know what you are going to get. This one is no different. Good food and drinks, wish they would do something to make each bar a bit different tho...

Brilliant paneer burger. Nice to have a vegetarian burger that was so tasty. The food came very quickly when I explained I was in a hurry, too.

My trip to Bar Soba was very disappointing. To start, we arrived on time for our booking but had to wait 15 minutes for our table. Then the app for ordering was appalling. Didn’t work for most of us and ended up sending our order twice to the kitchen. We still got charged even though it was clearly an app error. I find it shocking that we didn’t get the option to use the app or to order normally through the wait staff. Finally, my friend had a nut allergy that the staff were made aware of but when the food came the staff gave him the wrong dish and didn’t even apologise or offer compensation.

We booked for the cocktail making class for 6 of us with 2 course lunch included. We were taken to a private area and asked if we wanted lunch before or after cocktails or if we wanted starters then cocktail class followed by mains. We opted for the last option. We were given a glass of prosecco which was included and then waited over 1 hour for our starters. 5 starters arrived and the 6th arrived after everyone had finished theirs. Due to the wait we had to order additional drinks. Then onto the cocktail making class. We made 2 cocktails each which were OK but it all felt a bit flat. The girl serving us was lovely but just no input apart from telling us what ingredients to use. We then had our mains, waiting quite a while again. The starters were delicious especially the squid, mains were ok. We then asked to move to the main area which was lovely. Overall not quite the experience we expected or paid for.

Food was decent when it came but it was very slow. Toilets are minging.

Terrible service. It took half an hour for our bottle of wine to be brought to the table. I ended up having to go and ask for it at the bar. The curries were really oily with very few vegetables in them. Music really loud over dinner to the extent that we had to shout to be heard. Toilets filthy and full of litter. Such a shame as this was always a favourite but it had gone downhill.

Our first time visiting with friends at the weekend. Bar wasn't busy but we waited 15-20 minutes for each round of drinks. Pina colada was terrible and strangely came in a wine glass. Old fashioned was alright.Staff were not particularly friendly. Toilets were bogging. Won't return.

The food was lovely the drinks were weird some were way too strong then others had like no alcohol in then the girl serving us looked so blunt not one smile and barely any socialising towards us she just looked like she couldn’t be bothered

Went for drinks and food before my stagdo, the staff completley ignored our table, deinks that we paid for never arrived numerous times, food was stone cold, nobody rnjoyed their food and the drinks were very watered down. Absolutley shocking experience and overly expensive for a place with such bad standard, the staff were so rude aswell.

Always been a fan of Bar Soba. Staff and drinks great, only drop in points is due to the atmosphere not beong as great as previous. Maybe it was a one off but I can't help but feel the Merchant Square is dying out unfortunately.

We went for lunch to celebrate with our friend, pre booked. There was a set menu I think we had booked (boozy brunch inc x4 drinks) or ordered (they bring it, menus, to the table) but you can also scan the bit on the table and it takes you to the website. I can be a fussy riot with food. They had chips, cheese and curry sauce all together, I don't like certain food touching. When I asked if I could order chips and cheese on one plate and chips and curry sauce on another it wasn't an issue which was great. Only thing of note, if you don't like salt or have issues with it I would politely, when ordering, specifically say to please not put salt on them. Can I just say I LOVE that they have pepsi max, a lot of places don't stock it and it is my favourite so I am always delighted to find a place that does it. The glasses, some of them were fabulous, mine (pina colada) had some sort of design into the glass, I love little details. Like the cutlery/chop sticks come in metal tins (see photo), the water provided for the table, the shape - love it! The disabled/accessible toilet is upstairs and the other toilets are downstairs (there is also another bar downstairs) so it is actually quite big. This was my first time visiting. The bar staff were very nice, friendly and attentive except for one who was quite sharp/rude at points to a few members of our group. Not sure if she was having an off day or just fed up (I didn't catch any names unfortunately, she had green through her hair and beautiful tattoos). Everyone else was great, polite, smiling, service was quick when we ordered, My friend had an issue paying using the app thing on her phone but card was fine. Again the staff member with the green in her hair (apologies no names) was a bit nippy when asking my friend about a deposit - this was at the end when playing the bill. She hadn't as the email hadn't asked her and if this was an issue it wasn't on our side, had it asked she would have put one down and we paid it all upon getting the bill. If this is an issue maybe need to look at when the email is being sent out, it was fine in the end. We all had food, two baskets of prawn crackers, a few drinks each (choice of cocktails on the menu in our booking but you could order/pay off that too). The pina colada (separate buy from the set menu, £8.50) was beautiful and the girls all liked their food/drinks. There was 8 of us in total, we had between 3-4 drinks each (maybe an extra one for the girl of the hour) we all had food and our bill was I think £240 which I think is pretty good for everything we got.

Always a good choice when out and about in the city. The staff are not always the friendliest which does let it down.

Food was excellent particularly the tofu katsu curry, could go it again right now in fact. French fries far too salty. Reasonable priced with most dishes around £13. Drinks ordered were a bit of a let down as very slow to hit the table. Food was out the kitchen before drinks arrived. Server although attentive was eager to move us on so felt a bit rushed. Mojito was on point. Look forward to revisiting and scoring this place 5/5.

I ordered four to five dishes including the Singapore noodles. The kitchen and waiters had to be reminded that it came with an omlette, on an empty day with three tables in total. We had to ask the waiter for cutlery and when it came the spoon was dirty, when informed they gave us a new spoon and left the dirty one on the table. The waiters were more focused on having conversations within themselves than actually clear tables after customers left (over 30mins). Below average food, the one good dish were the fried gyozas everything else was disappointing. The waitress in question avoids every single table long enough to question the purpose of her presence. Easily one of the worst establishments i’ve ever visited. Truly avoid this place unless you’re drunk!

Recently visited Bar Soba with a group of work friends following a team building afternoon. The menu looked great which was welcomed given a number of people in party are VERY fussy eaters and particular about where they go. The food was stunning, freshly made and they tailored some dishes to our likes. Eg, no chilli, no prawns, etc etc. We loved it so much, 2 of us returned the following evening to eat again. Which was just as nice. I highly recommend the Singapore Noodles and Chicken Goyoza

Been here a few times but seems food portions are a lot different from Last time I was here price increase and less food on plate left feeling hungry tufo katsu curry was thin bits of tufo and there was hardly any beef or noodles in the noodles dish my partner got.

Whose idea was to open a restaurant and stick a cheesy DJ in the middle of the room playing really naff music at high volume? The only person in the restaurant that seemed to be enjoying themselves was the DJ himself. Will come back when...

Excellent food and staff, spent a good few hours yesterday, highly recommended

We waited around 40 mins for our started then again another 30-40 mins for our mains and when both courses did eventually come they were pretty cold, the wait was just ridiculous… considering the place was pretty dead. Sadly the food was quite bland compared to past visits, The server was lovely and they made sure we had enough drinks but sadly I wouldn’t recommend.

Came here for dinner with my girlfriend and the service from Daryl was great, she was very friendly and gave us some good recommendations.

Just been to your Glasgow merchant city branch and reserve was shocking …. 20 minutes and nobody came to the table so I had to order at the bar and the food came before the drinks. Portions of the food were shocking I paid £14...

Went in for a drink a pint and a half. £9.30 ffs bit expensive so I checked their web site when I got home it says ask server for drink price for lager etc. Wine glass prices are their and other drinks. Why not put up a sign as your ment to do by law so punters can see prices clearly. As the drink was poured we decided to drink it, however if I was told the price I would have gone elsewhere. Fed up with places taking the Mick after COVID.

Showed up to this restaurant that was mostly empty with me and my partner who are in wheelchairs and were instantly told that the only available tables were in a non accessible area. We asked if we could sit in one of the 10 empty tables that were accessible and were told no, they were booked. We asked if they could move someone's booking to the other area and were again told no as apparently they specifically requested that area. So they would rather deny service to disabled people than sit someone who isn't even there yet somewhere else. Checked online and plenty of availability and no way to request seating areas.

Was in on Saturday for drinks with a group of 8. Service was poor and it was like the customer didn't matter. Much better service from other places in Glasgow. Overall pretty poor.

The food is good but cooked by candlelight. Be prepared to wait for an hour for any food.

Went for lunch today and had the bao buns. Great service and the food was fantastic even if a little messy to eat (probably my own fault). Chill place.
