Katsu in Glasgow City

What a place! Good is unbelievable. Great chilled service. Pork Gyoza’s are perfect. I will be back. Couldn’t have been any better

Ordered with a particularly rude waitress for take-away, she told to me to wait outside. I waited outside for 30 minutes before I looked in and saw my order on the table. The waitress then saw me, ran to grab the order and brought it to me but never even apologised for the delay. I don't know how long it had been sitting there for but it was stone cold by the time I got it.

Great place with authentic japanese food! Once inside, you feel like you enter a japanese atmosphere. I really liked the japanese curry. Highly recommend entering this place if you pass it. What a gem.

So we went here for dinner and i tried their amazing avocado Katsu and ended up going at this same place for next day lunch as there are various options which you would love to try. The service guy Fisher is very nice and polite which made a difference as i was not quite happy with the other places i visited while traveling in this city. Food is affordable and tasty should give it a try definitely.

Absolutely loved it!! The food was amazing and so were the staff. We really enjoyed the decor. Very reasonable prices and perfect portions of food. Definitely recommend to anyone who likes tasty food and a nice vibe!

Really enjoyed our visit here when visiting Glasgow. It was quiet when we arrived however the restaurant filled up quickly and seemed popular which is always a good sign. We tried a number of dishes, The menu is excellent and it would need to be with plenty of similar restaurants nearby. Price wise it is cheaper than others nearby I would say. We received some excellent miso soup to start which was full of flavour. We chose two appetisers in the salt and chilli chips and chicken wings which were both good too. The spice level was fine for me and not too salty. The tempura prawns were excellent, as mentioned there are a number of similar places nearby, we have eaten in a number of these and these were the best yet. We both ordered katsu and enjoyed the dishes. The one criticism I have is there was possibly too much sauce making it heavier but the sauce tasted great and it’s better than not having enough! We will definitely be back again.

It's a great Japanese restaurant with many katsu options! They are so delicious. You will get a decent portion with miso soup. Staff is nice and attentive.

i cannot express enough how much i recommend this restaurant. we popped in for dinner and were immediately seated and served super quickly. we ordered karage chicken and pork gyozas to start which were unbelievable. not only that but we were each given a miso soup (free of charge) which was unreal. we both ordered a duck katsu for our mains which were huge portions and so so delicious. we left with full bellies and enough food for a midnight meal later on and our food came to less than £50 so very very pleased. thank you!

Considering the limited space for customers, I would recommend asking for a table. Personally, I always get a table, even when it seems there’s no room as you walk by. I tried a few other dishes but Chicken Katsu is the most recommend dish that you should try!

I've ordered from Katsu a few times with no issues and their food has always been amazing, however I wanted to warn customers ordering online about how my recent order was handled. I ordered a Katsu curry but the sauce was missing. I called to see if they could send some out and they said their drivers were busy but to call back in 10 minutes. I did, but when I spoke, they hung up! This happened three times- It was obvious they were deliberately avoiding my calls. Eventually the woman on the phone spoke to me and said all she could do was offer a discount for when I'm in the restaurant, which I was understanding about, but when I went to give my details that she asked for, she hung up before I could. I wasn't rude and I was completely understanding of the situation with the order- mistakes happen. I was annoyed by how they handled it- 100% unprofessional.

Love the food and the portion sizes were a great value for the price point

Great food, great service and everything is perfectly clean, from their kitchen (open kitchen) to toilet... Place is a bit small and narrow at first, but when you sit down, it turns out to be really cozy. The staff are very welcoming and polite. The food is very tasty!

My first visit with a friend for lunch. We ordered Tofu Katsu Curry with rice and Sweet potato Katsu Curry with rice. Excellent taste, superb curry. Hot/warm food.

Great Ramen, had the black garlic option, delicious, generous portion. Would go back in a heartbeat. There is not much to say about the service, I ordered and got my food quickly. Efficient is the word. There is no real atmosphere, hence neutral rating.

Brilliant spot in the centre of Glasgow. Very cosy and chaotic, food was amazing and the service was very friendly and very quick. Only downside for me was the over done egg lost in the ramen, but that's just me being picky.

Just had a Chicken fried rice for my lunch and honestly think it’s the best chicken fried rice I’ve tasted in Glasgow 10/10

Undercooked chicken is underwhelming

Great katsu! Great atmosphere! Small but authentic-feeling of what would imagine the experience in Japan would be similar to. Not much seating but definitely worth it if you can get a seat as there is a good selection of different types of katsu curries as well as other options too. Serve alcohol including sake and other Japanese drinks also.

Been here loads now and had takeaways too. Food is always amazing, best Katsu curry ever. Also have nice deserts. Great veggie options and huge portion sizes. Very reasonably priced. Staff are lovely. Very cosy and always nice and warm.

So cute! walked in for a solo lunch date and so glad i did. There are only a few seats but wasn’t too busy so i got one. the food came quickly and was AMAZING, i love Katsu Curry and this was definitely one of the best i’ve ever had I will be back xx

Feels very much like a small place in Osaka or Tokyo. Food is lovely. Only 12 seats though so be prepared to wait. It’s worth it

absolutely fantastic find, food was incredible and it’s changed my view on east asian food, i was never a huge fan but turns out i have just been having rubbish japanese food before this place. it’s a very tiny restaurant, similar to the small ramen street shops you see in japan and was perfect for a rainy day, staff were also very welcoming and friendly. loved my experience

Definitely recommend. They are offering the best Japanese cuisine curry in Glasgow, even this restaurant is not operating by Japanese. I would always to try tempura fried shrimp and pork katsu curry rice for my every single trip in the city centre. Hope they can provide more seats during peak times in the future or there would be a bit crowded.

Food and Service are both mediocre. We didn't get forks, sticks or napkins, you have to ask for everything, they mix up things and you have to pay in advance (tip included). On top of it, it's apparently the fault of the "new" girl. Worst experience in Glasgow, just go to a pub

Honestly one of if not the best pork katsu curries that I’ve ever had, which includes ones I’ve had in Japan. Pork was cooked perfectly and very tasty. I also loved the spicier curry sauce which was so tasty!

I loved the chicken thigh Katsu with egg fried rice. Generous portion. Tasty curry with succulent chicken slightly crispy. Although it's a tiny dinning space it was most enjoyable. Excellent location surrounded by bars and stores. Great service from Candi.

Fantastic wee Japanese shop in Glasgow! Naturally I had the katsu and was impressed at the freshness and how speedily it's cooked - made to order. Also as other reviewers point out pork katsu is the most common katsu in Japan but is somehow hard to find in Glasgow! The drinks menu is fantastic as well, some unusual finds on there like Japanese plum wine! (defo give it a try) the green tea was a very generous portion and the meal came with Miso soup included. The service is great 👍 as is the ambience!

Brilliant place for a Katsu curry. The closest I’ve come to Coco Ichiban since leaving Japan. Loved it.

*Edited for July 2023 Great, consistent place! I love that they have a concept and stick to it rather than branching out more vaguely. It's really encouraging to see a place that focuses on doing one thing well instead of spreading themselves thin doing too wide a range. The curry was really proper and authentic - could so hold its own in Japan - w/ good spicing and a nice kick to it, and the pork and lotus root katsu are both so nicely done~ The lotus root was perfectly cooked - neither hard nor mushy, which other places tend to miss on. My previous thoughts that the miso soup was a bit thin and the tofu and seaweed a bit hard stand corrected, as it was great this time. The staff were lovely as well!:)

Delicious classic Katsu, I got the pork which was slightly dry but still delicious. Definitely recommend adding an extra egg yolk as it just adds and extra creaminess to the dish. Wish I had more bits of veg in my curry, I had 2 small pieces of onion and my partner got some carrot in his which would have been nice. Takeaway arrived fast.

Hands down THE BEST kastu I have ever had ontop of incredible value, funky atmosphere and wonderful staff. I cannot reccomend this place enough.

Sad to say this restaurant is not helpful when it comes to allergens when ordering delivery. Their listings are misleading and unhelpful. I ordered a chicken Katsu which arrived covered in mayonnaise. The listing did not state Mayo was used and the photograph of the food on the listing did not have any mayo on it. I called the restaurant and they said this was my problem. Will not order from them again - avoid if you have allergens.

Disappointing take away. £4.25 for a soup that was the size of a sauce. Do not get take away from here, poor serving sizes. Friday night take away ruined.

Over rated. The Katsu tasted like it may have been bought at Costco, along with the curry sauce as well. I've had similar experiences with store bought from a jar.

Buzzing little place but chose to sit outside as it was a scorcher of a day. Katsu and Ramen both excellent.

The best thing we ate in Glasgow was definitely here. This was the first time we tried Japanese katsu curry. Options of fried meat (there was tofu as well), served with Japanese curry and rice or udon noodles. We tried it both with noodles and rice. I loved both versions. Udons were so juicy with the curry. We had duck and prawn katsu curry plates. They were amazingly delicious and filling. Since we got a menu deal; we first had the miso soups, which also tasted very good. They had different beer options too; I enjoyed the Singapore ones we had. This place is a must go in Glasgow. I am grateful that we got to know this beautiful dish “katsu curry” through this place. When we came back to Oslo, we both golden curry and made it at home as well:-)

Katsu is a wonderful cosy restaurant with good food and good staff. The pork gyōza were delicious and the ramen was amazing. The food was served fast by an attentive waitress! I enjoyed it so much I got a rake away for my boyfriend

The katsu curry was a little spicier than a normal katsu curry but was still really good. It’s great to find somewhere doing proper pork katsu in Scotland because for some reason other places do chicken. The pork gyoza’s were good too with a tonkatsu style dipping sauce rather than the usual vinegar based. The salt and pepper chips should really be salt and chilli chips and were fantastic. The portion was huge so definitely one for sharing. The tempura avacado was good with a light batter. It came with a fairly tasteless dipping sauce. The place is tiny with only bar stool seating. It opened for lunch at 12 and was full by about 12:30 so you might need to wait. Overall really good and I will be back when I get a craving for katsu.

Best Japanese food I've had in a long time! We ordered the tonkatsu ramen and tonkatsu curry with white rice. 10/10! Small space with limited seating, but worth the wait!

They used to do good stuff, lately not so much! Last order got sick from the miso soup. Katsu sauce watery, at least the rice is still decent. Poor amount on food also.

Predictably I had Chicken Katsu curry with rice. Portion was larger than expected and the chicken was cooked beautifully. Service was great and reasonably priced too.

Dopo 8 giorni in Scozia cercavamo un posto con dei sapori diversi dalla cucina tradizionale. Nel centro di Glasgow ci siamo imbattuti quasi per caso in Katsu, e non credo ci sarebbe potuta andare meglio! Il locale è piuttosto piccolino, c'è una bella selezione di piatti ed il personale è molto carino e gentile. Soprattutto, il cibo è veramente ottimo!! Moltissimo curry, ma per chi non ne va matto come me ci sono altre scelte. Al piano di sopra c'è la sala karaoke, non abbiamo cantato ma mentre mangiavamo abbiamo ascoltato un sacco di buona musica pop. Uno dei ristoranti di cucina orientale migliori in cui abbia mangiato, consigliatissimo!

My absolute favourite spot for lunch when I'm working from the office. Very large portion of Chicken Katsu curry for only £7.35 at the time of writing. Katsu are a restaurant who do one thing, but do it well! If you decide to sit in, it can be a little cramped fot larger people, they also have a karaoke theme upstairs!

I've eaten a lot of Katsu but this is probably now my number one spot to eat it. I can't get enough of it! The katsu curry is on the spicier side however this just adds to the flavour. The Miso soup and pork gyozas were also a 10 out of 10. Can't recommend this place enough. Only downside is that it's 6.95 for a pint of Asahi. Probably the most expensive pint I've ordered in Glasgow.

Small and busy environment but it felt more welcoming than overwhelming! Service was great the staff was friendly, food came fairly quickly and yet still tasted great. I got the bbq eel ramen, the noodles were soft and the broth was very hearty. Big portions as well, I'd definitely come back again.

Lovely little restaurant in the heart of the city. The chicken katsu curry with steamed rice was amazing as was the ramen. Staff are so lovely, couldnt fault anything.

Very nice food and friendly staff. I got the veggie gyoza and the curry with duck. But after eating my food I found out that there was a lunch offer menu - so I could have paid only half of what I did. The menu was only on some of the tables, so I would have appreciated it if they would have told me.

A small little katsu curry house but quite a good variety on the menu! Had to try the pork katsu curry which was a good portion! The curry was tasty and pork was done well! Only annoying thing was the tables were bar tables and stools so sitting in groups can be awkward.

Miss and hit here. Eating-in can feel bit crowded due the small seating area. Food is okish, portions going smaller as used to be. Also, too much spicy on the sauces, unedible.

Food was delicious and the whole place has a nice vibe that makes it feel really authentic. Our meal came with soup that must have been complementary. What a nice surprise that was!

Such a friendly place with a great menu with the concept being katsu. I had the duck, a lovely curry sauce, well cooked rice, a cold beer, but the katsu duck was superb. A real treat and would recommend. Miso soup to start was also as tasty as a miso soup gets.

Super cute restaurant and the staff are so lovely. The chicken katsu and the chicken karage were AMAZING!! The portions were large and great value for money. Affordable for students and I would definitely recommend!

Good value for money we got the miso soup witch was delicious and the chicken katsu curry witch was a big portion and it was tasty but far to spicy it was a we bit cramped and the music was a bit to loud also the waitress was not very attentive and did not give us knives and forks

The server we had was extremely rude and stone cold, the food however is half decent for Glasgow, we have been to this resturant a few times, and this particular server seem to be in a foul mood every single time.

Best Potato Katsu Curry I’ve ever had!

Great little piece of Japan in Glasgow. The food is great and it is a tiny wee sit in place that holds maybe 15-20, just like similar places in Japan. It also does takeout.

Really enjoyed my meal here today. Ordered the chicken Katsu curry which also comes with a miso soup to start. Food was really tasty and fresh and the portion size was generous for the price.

来这家店很多次了，格拉斯哥的日式炸猪排配咖喱怎么吃都还是这家实惠。 炸猪排饭会配一些炸蒜碎，吃着很香。配套的味噌汤也是在格拉斯哥为数不多味道还可以的。炸猪排分量也还不错。咖喱的量刚好能拌完饭菜吃干净。生菜丝有一次吃到感觉有点苦，不过大部分时候都是比较新鲜的鲜甜感觉。 炸鸡块第一次点。这个分量就没办法了，英国的日料店就不指望有多大了。味道还是不错的就是尝起来不像日式炸鸡块。配的酱料似乎是是拉差（几个月以前吃的，忘了）。 外卖也很不错，咖喱会分装。 另外，这家店很小很小，如果在午饭晚饭高峰去的话很大概率要等位，建议早点去或者干脆叫外卖。店面小也因此很多座位都挺挤的。

Chicken Katus with curry is wonderful! We must come back again!

Was feeling very hangry on a damp day. So a katsu curry sounded like a good idea. Got lucky and came in while lunch specials were on. Got a satisfyingly filling, tasty, hot and spicy chicken katsu curry bowl for £8. (Days of ultra-cheap food definitely behind us now.) Hanger went away. Bowl looked small, but was packed full with rice and hot chicken. Service was fast and server was friendly and efficient. Decor is bright, cheerful and clean, and temperate was warm (even though I was sat near the door). I’ll definitely be dropping in again.
