Pickled Ginger Finnieston in Glasgow City

Food took over 2 hours to arrive and was cold - restaurant said it had been ready for ages and there was no driver and the app said driver was waiting on the food! Which was it? Service from just eat unacceptable I would like a refund please. Thanks

Delivered one half of our order and the other an hour later because “the driver didn’t want to take more bags” could not get a refund never getting food from this place again. Not impressed.

4 hours waiting on delivery, katsu chicken was poor and dry

Not authentic Japanese food, sushi rice was too hard, and prawn tempura was hard too, like double deep fried old ones. The dragon sushi roll did not have avocados. The Beef bulgogi , they used too much bicarbonate soda to tenderise the beef meat so it has very unpleasant taste. Not recommended at all.

ordered at 6pm delivered at 9pm for a ramen and sashimi when expected delivery time at time of ordering was less than 1 hour.

Delicious food. Healthy portions. Friendly staff. Would certainly recommend.

Great place - off the beaten track a bit. Had a mix of different foods - sushi platter, Teriyaki Chicken, Beef Ramen, Gyoza - all of the highest standard. Asahi beer on tap too.

All the food was excellent, seems a bit pricey at first but the portions are worth it.

Ordered at 3:30pm. Took forever for driver to collect my order, & once it was collected I watched the expected delivery time increase and increase while the driver didn’t move. I assumed they were in a car but it turns out they weren’t - they went to at least one more restaurant while I was viewing them on the map, when they should have been delivering my order first. All in all my “25-45 min delivery time” was 92 mins & traffic didn’t explain the lateness.

Never arrived, driver never collected. I went to shop myself to collect over 1 hour later. Delicious food though and shop staff very good service

Item missing from my order which left my fiancée starving, chicken in the teriyaki chicken was not nice, very poor quality, couldn’t even eat it, only giving 1 star due to the chicken gyoza’s being alright, bit salty though. Also waited an hour an a half for my order which is ridiculous for the food to come and not even to be nice!

Hemos visitado varias veces desde que la propiedad cambió, pero aún no hemos dejado una reseña. Visitamos un sábado por la noche y fue genial ver el restaurante lleno. Teníamos una reserva y nuestra mesa estaba lista para nosotros. Pedimos varios platos de sushi para compartir y como siempre estábamos muy contentos con la calidad de la comida.

ordered prawn Nigiri and only got 2 for £4! We also ordered avocado maki for a vegetarian but it was put in the same small container as the prawn sushi. The prawn sushi was for a child but inside the container, touching the sushi was a huge lump of wasabi. child could only eat half of the 2 pieces of sushi or she would have burnt her mouth of with wasabi! veg gyoza ramen was disappointing. The gyoza was lovely but the broth was bland.

Been ordering from here for 5 years and never been disappointed. Food is delectable and appreciate the little things like keeping the sushi separate to hot dishes, 10/10 would highly recommend!

i arrived in glasgow today and was having a hard time finding a place to have dinner that wasn’t to take away. after a while i came across the pickled ginger and it was definitely the best option i could have chosen! i ordered the chicken katsu curry which was absolutely delicious and the best one i’ve ever had! the plate had a big quantity of food which left me almost completely full, so i ordered the pineapple tempura for dessert. it was my first time trying it and, again, delicious. cheers to the chefs. the service was delightful and both waitresses were really attentive and kind at all times. thank you for your food! i’ll definitely come back if i ever get the chance to

My good has not arrived despite app saying it has been. No way to contact driver. Restaurant unresponsive

Average food - too salty for us. We ordered the beef bulgogi and chicken fried rice. The dragon roll was a little stale and would not return. Service was excellent though and they were very attentive.

3.5 hours from order to delivery. Food stone cold. Parts of order inedible as a result. Unacceptable. Will not be ordering again.

Literally every dish I get from here is perfect both delivered and sit in - exceptional quality every time big portions every time and way better priced than other Japanese restaurants in Glasgow - very rarely do reviews but these guys have earned one!! 🤟🏼❤️

I would recommend it! Food portion is relatively big. Service is good as well, staffs are attentive. They charged us 10% service fee at the end.

Tonight was the first of many to be visits. Service was exceptional from the moment we entered to the moment we left and the food blew expectations out the water. I'm a fan of Katsu Curry and I've had many kinds but this one was my favourite and they even perfected the chips that just so happened to be my ideal preference of chip. Highly recommend as the price is unbelievably great especially with the quality of service and food.

Today was a gloomy day and sushi always cheers me up and I am so glad we chose this place. My partner's akuma soba was superb, followed by a fresh sushi plater for me. The special rolls were pleasing to the eye and to our pallets. However, my only gripe was that they were gigantic and impossible to consume in one bite. We really appreciated the flavours and their unique twist but it is sacrilegious to consume sushi in two bites. Does it really matter though what the size is when the service is that quick and the prices are so reasonable? We will be back!

Food was nice. It’s a Chinese place selling Japanese inspired food so it’s probably bigger portions and pieces. Pretty hearty actually. Place is clean and service is good. Not sure you really have to book even on a weekend. Prices are decent as well. Restaurant was cold, so we were pretty chilly.

Easy to find, parking was available nearby. Staff were accomodating and informative with food allergy requests. Food was served quickly and it was delicious!

Ordered fish sushi platter and veggie gyoza ramen. Best local Glasgow suhsi spot would highly recomend if you like Japanese cuisine and friendly service. Fresh sushi made right in front of you. Run don't walk! 🏃🍣

Very nice staff, very fast speaking but very friendly. Simple decor and small restaurant, with take away. But the food was very good and fresh. The restaurant was pretty fully booked, so we only got a seat at the counter (and that was on a Tuesday in constant rain), but on the weekend it's really better to make a reservation.

One of our favourite places. The food is amazing staff nice and I think prices are very good. We keep going back and it never disappoints.

Good food, quick service, big portions, reasonable prices.

Absolutely delicious food and good sized portions. The place is very loud however and there's a minor language barrier with the serving staff. My main gripe though is they add on a service charge. The price advertised for the food is the price I agreed to pay, not an additional 12% which is just a con. They also only respond to five star reviews which is a red flag in terms of them not taking feedback.

Waitresses were spot on and extremely efficient. Food was outstanding especially the Teriyaki chicken main dish

The food was served quickly, tastes good and they have good customer service. A quiet place to have lunch or dinner.

You have to book in for dinner lunch or anything else. We booked in quite early because it gets booked up quite quick. It was a very small restaurant but we all loved the food. Liam is so stupid had maki and it’s was incredible. Come with nice bowls for soy sauce and staff are very nice and help you pronounce the products. Overall 5 out of 5

Unfortunately did not like the ramen bowls. There was no flavour to any of it other than on over powering taste of fish. Did not eat any of it. Very expensive for what it is.

order didn’t arrive at all total chaos when trying to get help from restaurant. Have to wait 5-7 days to get a refund (if I get it) totally ruined our plans for this evening.

Delicious food, friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Will look forward to the next visit.

Delicious and food value for money!

Excellent food, so flavourful. Lovely staff. Cute places. We initially had a table reserved but they moved us to the high chair. We were okay with that as well, but they still gave us a 50% percent discount on the bill. We were so touched by their sweet gesture we ended up tipping the saved amount. This happened in 2019 but it's still the nicest thing any establishment has done and I think fondly about it!

Food was fabulous and at good prices. It's a small place, so I recommend booking. We didn't book, but they found us room at the bar. Kind and friendly service despite being very full, and it being a smaller space. Atmosphere is rated as average because it's an ordinary row home type restaurant, nothing wrong with that, but nothing special. I do highly recommend them for their food.

It’s my favo restaurant in Glasgow. We live southside and always order delivery every week. This time we got chance to sit in and the food it’s even better!!! So fresh! The fried chicken is so delicious. Usually the fried chicken in other place taste like deep fried thing, but not in pickled ginger. I recommended to all my colleagues and they love it too!

Small and cosy with tasty food.

Went there with a friend after a really bad experience in another restaurant and the staff were very welcoming and friendly, they are well trained and it’s not something you often see in Glasgow to be honest. The food was very delicious especially the Chicken Katsu and Volcano from the Special Rolls menu. To the owner of this restaurant you’re lucky for having such an amazing and hardworking staff.

Went for the sushi masterclass and it was so much fun! Staff were really lovely and were accommodating to dietary restrictions. It was nice to learn a new skill as well! When we didn’t get it right they’d let us try again rather than just moving on which was really appreciated, will definitely be back soon thank you so much 🫶

Very impressed with Pickled Ginger! We went to a launch night & got a wee taste of some of their sushi options as well as some of the main dishes. I really loved the sushi options & I need to go back and try my fave sushi - dragon rolls. I think this would be a great way to compare against other Japanese restaurants. The mains were beautifully presented, and tasted great! I’d say the ramen and the pumpkin Katsu were my fave. The yum yum chicken is a huge hit from everyone but I think it’s just not to my liking.

Came in to order some takeaway, super friendly staff and the Bulgogi Rolls were insane !! Cannot wait to be back

Really lovely place. We went there twice for dinner out of our three days in Glasgow. That is how good they were.

Ordered over £200 worth of deliveries in the space of 6 weeks on Deliveroo had rewards built up as in discounts on next orders then out of nowhere they decided I live to far and won’t deliver anymore but everywhere else does! So yeah pretty disappointed zero customer loyalty or appreciation.

Fantastic restaurant; best Japanese restaurant I've been to Service was super quick; barely any wait for the food The menu has so many great options I ordered California sushi rolls and chicken katsu sushi rolls, as well as miso soup. They have a range of sushi options, katsu curry, ramen and way more. The food was delicious and really filling.

Food is great and portion sizes are really big! Make sure you flip over the menus on the table- they are not placemats! We were confused after she handed us a sushi and specials menu and thought that was it as did several other tables all looking confused.

Some of the tastiest food I've had, great value too! Wonderful service as well. Very recommended.

sent the wrong dish due to the printer not printing out the correct dish for the chefs. so utterly disappointed as I now need to wait a couple of days from just eat to come back to me about a refund. the restaurant could not resend out the main dish and I was so looking forward to this main component of my night. literally gutted
