The best restaurants serving Japanese food in East of England

Awful service. The girl who served us (brunette) had an attitude the moment we walked in. She was unfriendly and everything seemed like a chore for her. For such a small restaurant, that wasn’t particularly busy, it took forever for her to take our order. Other tables also took a long time to be served. She got the order wrong. Instead of apologising she had an attitude about it. We said we’d just take the order anyway regardless. I asked for another beer which never came. Instead I got the bill and left. I expected better and I won’t be returning despite loving Japanese food and living 10 mins away.

Good takes too long to come, it took more than 40 minutes

Was delivery, food was cold and was completely ignored by the restaurant after I emailed them. Sent out 2 deliveries with same driver mine took over 30min to arrive

Avoid ! Messed up my order and failed to make it right when I raised it with them. What we did get was tiny portions, lukewarm and not that pleasant.

Always have a great time here, finally leaving a review as the only guy on tonight somehow managed to be attentive to me and the entire restaurant. Super friendly, 10 out of 10.

We are deeply grateful for your kind assistance on NYE when we were unable to order from you on Deliveroo. You were SO kind and obliging! And, of course, as usual the food was phenomenal: delicious sashimi, sushi and tempura. Thank you again and a very Happy New Year to all at the restaurant.

The sushi is really good and affordable, and for takeout sushi this would have been 5 stars! I definitely recommend this place for the food and have previously rated it 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ However, I’ve had to take out one star because of the dine-in experience. The service was good but the seating area could use a deep clean or even redecorating. Unfortunately it felt a bit dirty and worn - the table, the floors, and even the walls. I hope you can take this as constructive criticism though, because I won’t let this stop me from eating at Matane Sushi and if the cleanliness was improved it would take my review back up to 5 stars :)

An excellent meal, we ordered a real selection of dishes and all were equally good. It was very popular and service was very efficient. My advice would be to order courses as you want them as it can feel overwhelming if they arrive at the same time.

Absolutely amazing Ramen, this is more than a noodle bar. Not the biggest restaurant and located down a passage just across from Kings. You enter down the stairs and end up in this wonderful basement selling the most wonderful food. Not the biggest menu but everything on it is good. The doors open at 12.00 and soon after that, it is full. Service is quick and efficient. About mid price for the food, but well worth it.

Great service and delicious food. Staff were super friendly and great with kids. We had a good table by a revolting belt and the choice of dishes was excellent. Resulted in trying so many different once. Good value!

Newish take away, gave it a try,it was lovely, we had katsu curry n rice, squid rings, chips, chicken bao buns,and sweet potato bao buns gorgeous, will go again ,

Really is a great Japanese restaurant!! The food is amazing All the menu is very authentic. & sushi is all made fresh Fantastic hidden gem of Hatfield - take your friends or the partner out for a treat

Ordered for the first time yesterday, ordered £65 worth of stuff for me and one other as I wasn't sure how much I'd be getting. Discount brought it down by about £15. Ended up having enough for the next day, and we weren't complaining! The food tasted amazing, it's literally just like the photos, it's all packaged so nicely, it was delivered promptly, did I mention the amazing flavour? Will *definitely* be ordering again!

If you have experience with real authentic asian food give this a miss as you will be disappointed. Duck don was soggy with standard hoisin sauce. Dumplings were well cooked but flavourless, could have done with a kicking sauce. It felt overpriced for such bland boring dishes. Better options to be had in the market.
