Bun Box in Norwich

I’ve been wanting to try their Fried rice curry balls for awhile. You get 4 for £3.50. Which was an amazing price! The balls had a crispy outside and a soft creamy inside. The garlic mayo and spring onions worked really well together. I personally felt the added sesame seeds on top didn’t work well with the overall flavours and texture however for the price and quality I really enjoyed them. I 100% would recommend!

The customer service is really good, I had a fried tofu bun with some kimchi and it was really nice. There's a few vegan options to choose from, including a mushroom bun as well

Highly recommend Duck Bao Buns or Duck Donburi. Delicious and quite filling. The prices are good too.

Sticky rice balls with mayo were dreamy! Maybe I just chose wrong but the rest of the menu was a bit bland for my tastes - the sweet potato katsu curry and the miso aubergine bowl. Was hoping for a sticky, unami dollop of deliciousness from the latter and it came out looking like gravy. Nice touches with the pickled ginger etc though and the presentation is lovely, staff are nice too

Excellent food quality; always hot and fresh. Good value for money and filling. Fast deliveries. Compliments all around.

Had the chicken Katsu curry and was okay but nothing special, wouldn’t get it again.

Horrible food taste like nothing couldn’t eat it, the bun came all wet smelling like vinager and the chicken katsu curry didn’t taste like anything completely plain never again

I tried Bun Box earlier this week. Having seen people eating these amazing looking don buri bowls I was really excited to give them a go and I'm glad to say they definitely lived up to the hype! The food is amazing, I got two duck down buris, one without onion for myself and one with onion for my partner, the toppings were really generous and the quality was amazing. Solid portions for the money coming in at about £9 per head. For transport they provide lids as well as a range of utensils to eat with. The staff are super friendly and accommodating, they ask about allergies and, from my experience, are happy to accommodate. I added a side of kimchi after my initial order and they were happy to add to my initial order. It's a little thing but it's those that stick with me. Food prep areas look clean and there is plenty of space to sit behind the market to eat as long as it's a sunny day.

Had two Katsu Curry's One Prawn, One Chicken, Chicken was well overcooked, Prawns were three very small and Katsu Curry's were tasteless and watery ! a waste of money in my opinion! Definitely won't be back!

My visit to Bao Box felt like a refreshing interlude, as I savored the katsu chicken bao as a light snack. The combination of succulent chicken, delightful seasonings, and the softness of the bun created a harmonious balance that left me satisfied yet craving more. In a market brimming with culinary options, Bao Box stands out not only for its delectable offerings but also for the infectious positivity of its staff. It's an experience that I would gladly repeat.

Been here a few times now and have tried both the tofu and the aubergine don buri. Both are delicious and make a fantastic lunch. Haven't tried the buns yet but they're next on my list!

Had the Duck Bun For £5 , it was very tasty , everything on the menu sounds appetising , will definitely be back 😎

Visited a couple of times, and lovely both times. Try to get there early on weekends to avoid the queues as it can be a bit of a wait! I had the mushroom Bao Bun, absolutely delicious! And friendly service each time.

Really really yummy Japanese street food. Queueing system is quite confusing. Good food options which cater to different dietary requirements and choices. Could do with a bit more sauce on the Don buri

Lost the magic. I went to this guy when he was at his original location on the market. Service was great and the food even better. I went a couple of weeks ago and it was a complete let down. Straight faced servers more interested in talking to each other than the customer. I got a pork bun, it was tiny, ingredients were scarce, it was luke warm and so dry. It had a very odd taste to it, I took two bites and threw it away. It used to be fresh, hot and tasty and sadly it has gone drastically downhill while the price has increased. Don't waste your money.

Mushroom bao. Seriously, one of the best things I’ve eaten in norwich! Delicious, super fresh.

£8.50 for a very small Katsu Bun. Not value for money and the lady at the till wearing a crop top (Inappropriate) needs to smile.

Good things: Chicken Katsu Burger was fresh and delicious Bad Things: 20 minute wait at lunchtime (when time is limited), Portion was really small for £4. I would return when I am not time pressed

Came here as part of my mission to try as many of the Norwich Market food stalls as much as my stomach can handle. I ordered a Mushroom Bun from Bun Box. While the food is Asian inspired, it’s not really asian, nor is it really a bun. It’s more of a bun wrap. Don’t get me wrong, the bun was fresh and soft, just like a freshly steamed bun should be. The filling of mushroom, mayo, radish and fried onion were delicious. Bun Box is definitely one of the best food stalls to try out in Norwich Market.

Always a queue. Very good takeaway street food! It’s not really Asian, I’d call it Asian fusion food. We had pork katsu and teriyaki pork. The combination of the vegetables, sauce and rice are just perfect. This is situated within the Norwich market.

So I was getting food and overheard someone complaining that they found a slug in their food, thankfully mine was slug free

I've been here a couple of times and I can't fault the quality of the food, but the serving sizes are slightly on the small side.

I have ordered the pork teriyaki donburi. The bowl was more or less filled with rice, spring onions and greens as there’s barely any teriyaki pork in it. Considering I paid £7 for this. I expected to see teriyaki pork. Also, could have improved the taste of the marinate as its blunt in colour and in taste. Not worth the price I’d say. Disappointing.

These things are so satisfying. If like me, you enjoy a burger or hot sandwich at lunch then these are perfect. Accompanied by a portion of steamed gyoza they are even better. This is the true meaning of 'hidden gem'. Propper authentic Japanese buns that are incredible.

Was my first visit to Bun Box, and will be back - it was delicious. Enjoyed a scrummy box of shredded duck and and extra treat of chicken and spring onions gyoza. Would highly recommend!!

Very nice light bao bun, the Teriyaki pork with sticky rice was also light and fresh tasting.

My favourite place to visit at the market ! The food is always hot and delicious, plus the staff are super friendly. Nothing is better than grabbing this for a cheeky little lunch, plus it is super filling 😊

Norwich market has got some amazing food on offer and the bao buns from this place are my favourite, I’ll go again and again. Seen people get different things off the menu and it all looks DELISH

I had the aubergine tempura bun and it was outstanding. Could quite easily have had 3 or 4 in a row they were so fresh and light. Next time I will be trying one of every variety!

Whenever I'm in the city, I have the tempura vegetables with sticky rice. It comes in a bowl with shaved salad and it's just delightful. All cooked fresh, so it's crispy.

We walked up and down the many various choices of street food and this stall just had the best freshest food on offer. We had a chicken Katsu curry and one mushroom bun and both were delicious. There isn’t many seats available to use to sit and eat, but up the top there are plenty of walls to sit and rest up and taste the food. Great and inexpensive way at to get some lunch whilst watching the world go by

Today was my 4th visit to this place, and I've absolutely loved it every time. I also brought a couple of colleagues along with me today and they were also really impressed. Ideal for a tasty treat during my lunch break! and we will all be coming back for more very soon

I have heard colleagues talk about this place so I snuck off one lunchtime to have a look. I was really really impressed - I had tempura and it was divine! Have to be careful I do not detour here every lunchtime!

My partner and I absolutely love Bun Box! Any time we are hungry and around Norwich Market, we will stop by bun box to get a steamed bun, some dumplings to share and a katsu or teriyaki bowl! Great value and quick! Love, love, love!

The tempura don was fab & filling and they swapped out an ingredient I cant eat! Vegan friendly - 2 options today.

Great little stall among many towards the back of Norwich Market. Lad who runs it looks caught in the headlights a lot of the time! But don't let that put you off, he knows what he's doing! The buns are great! Have tried the Pork, Katsu Chicken and Hoisin Duck, all excellent. I don't even mind the queue as they are well worth the wait!

I picked up a small selection from the menu amongst some other choices from the rest of the market for an impromptu buffet picnic with my family. I went for the chicken Katsu Don Buri (rice bowls) and the pork Don Buri and the Duck Bun.

Excellent taste. Had duck steamed bun. Portion was on the smaller size but really enjoyed eating it!

Got the pork bun and licked all my fingers afterwards. Amazing, so well prepared, seasoned yumminess.

Had the Katsu chicken steamed & the dumplings. Second visit now & just as nice as the first time. The bun was £3.50 and the dumplings £2.50. Amazing food and value.

I’ve always been a bit anti using Norwich Market, however over the last couple of years it’s seen some great start ups and pop up food sellers. Bun Box is a great example of the quality and variety the market now has to offer.

Really good bao (if you have ever tried to make them you know how hard it is to get them tasting this good) and the fillings are always exceptional too. Also some amazing rotating specials such as pan fried gyozas and croquettes. The owner has done his time in some good kitchens and knows his stuff, but chooses to serve cheap very tasty food on the market for everyone to enjoy (always friendly and chatty too!). I've been quite a few times now and there is always something new and delicious to try Definitely one of the best lunch options in the city.

Been to Bun Box a multitude of times now and it’s always my favourite lunch stop, I’m a local student who wants something fresh, relatively cheap and of course, delicious.

Everything is Absolutely delicious. And I’ve tried most of it in just 2 visits. Not a massive selection, but that’s a good thing really, do half a dozen things really well and they’ll keep coming.
