Excellent unlimited Japanese buffet especially if you have kids under 155cm in height! We’ll be back.

For all you can eat it’s great! Very tasty but some sushi was smaller / bigger than others and heavy with rice and little in meat. Did have to ask for wasabi and ginger and sauce but that was given. Lovely staff and quick service! We ordered soo much - they come in large portions too! Took plenty home to eat as we were truly stuffed! Atmosphere could be better with lighting/music.

We went to the Pho place upstairs, which is part of the same restaurant. The Pho was good.

It was my birthday and it’s been a long time to go out dinner with my family. I really love to have sushi unlimited. Look at the food pic. I had to require the soy source and wasabi even food was serviced already and also had to ask soy source dish. I think the waitress doesn’t understand what customers need. Even there were not busy at all. Also sushi and sashimi quality was poor. If you want to have good quality don’t try here. All sashimi and sushi thicker were different and poor quality. They tried to serve oily food (tempura) and rice roll not sashimi or fresh fish even I requested fish sashimi and salads. All sushi and rolls are so much rice in. Also we didn’t order some food but the waiter just dropped off on our table. It’s shamed we cannot have any good sushi restaurants in Chelmsford. Hope the owner find out what it is wrong and fixed it.

Absolutely love coming to eat here! Food is super tasty, and always comes laid out beautifully on the plate. Sometimes there is a slight wait on the food but other than that everything is absolutely astonishing, really have nothing to complain about. The waiters are so sweet and polite and never hesitate to help you out. I seriously recommend this restaurant to everyone reading this, I promise you will not be disappointed

FIRST EXPERIENCE HERE. The food is amazing and the meat is well cooked through and juicy. The staff is amazing and the manager very friendly. I got a rose for val which is very thoughtful and the also have vegetarian options for the sushi which I absolutely loved. I will be going there again ❤❤❤

Slow service, we ordered the lunch buffet, each order takes 25-30mins to get on to table and the food quality is down to hill, not anymore. Disappointed!😮‍💨

Worst dining experience! We went for bottomless food which is unlimited food for 90 minutes. After eating our first order, we ordered for another set. No food after waiting for 30 minutes so we asked the server to follow it up only to be told that the kitchen was running late as the night fully packed and busy. More than an hour past still no food served. So I cancelled the order , paid the bill and went off. The servers were really nice but the management and efficiency to deliver what they advertised was unacceptable . Unjustifiable for a reason that when you established such business, you have thought well the number of tables and the demand esp during busy days! They even keep on accepting customers!! Insane! For few portions of food, we ended up paying still £44 for both of us even with discount. Waste of time and money. Never again.

Sorry to be harsh but compared to previous ownership, the quality has dropped and the prices have become more expensive so it’s an overall fall. King prawn tempura were basically small prawns and the food was less flavoursome. The sushi kept falling apart too. Another point is it took a while for the food to arrive and that’s fine if the food is of great quality but it wasn’t. It’s a real shame but it’s paying more for less now and I find that pretty disappointing. Manager seemed friendly though.

Bottomless Meal is worth it. Apart from forgetting one dish at the start. They are very attentive. Manager reacted very well. We'll be coming back.

If you like fish then highly recommend but a bit to expensive

Have been going here for a while for their bottomless menu (drinks and food), it was exceptional until it 'upgraded itself' and now it is fine. Prices have gone up a bit. Shame they got rid of the pork belly skewers and changed them with sad dry meat! Design upgrades like Neon lights inside aren't great. However, service was very good (especially from the friendly Bartender).

Bad experience with this restaurant. We waited for almost 2 hours for the first set of orders to be served (of which only 3 out of 6 items were served) and waited for an additional half hour for the second set of orders (of which only 4 out of 6 orders were served, and we are still waiting for the other 3 items from the first set). Then they keep on serving the wrong orders and insisting that our food is still being prepared (after 3rd follow up). On our observation, they seem a bit unsystematic in how to handle orders, as they were able to provide the orders of other tables, but not to some other tables. Maybe they need more training on management.

My first visit and was looking forward to the Korean BBQ offering but that was not available even though still up in the window. Went for the set meals which you cook yourself at the table; very raclette style. Had to ask for the rice and salad dishes and one of the 3 meals arrived a long time after the first 2. Not the greatest experience but worth another try as the food was delicious.

Thank you for the service, it was excellent. The manager is a man with integrity. Definitely give them a try. Thank you to the entire team for making sure my kids were okay also.

Went here for my boys birthday we all had a good time food was cooked fresh, service was abit messy at first but soon sorted itself out, highly recommended food was very good

Bottomless sushi and Korean BBQ were amazong

Update: no response to email address below… Went here based on reviews. Lava roll was 5 pieces of prawn tempura roll with a mountain made out of mayonnaise for £20! This was recommended on the menu. Ordered tuna tataki which was on the menu but apparently “the chef didn’t know how to cook it” so it was taken off after I ordered it. Katsu was nice but vegetable noodles were ok. Not a great experience.

We attended this restaurant over a year ago and was unaware they have recently changed owners. But what can I say from the moment we arrived to the moment we left we got an outstanding service. We had a reservation for 6 and arrived quite early. The owner met us at the door and took care of us instantly. He explained how everything worked and the offers they had on. I must say it was very reasonably priced for what you get. The food was outstanding and so was the service. We had a waiter named Brad who couldn't do enough to help make our experience a great one. Definately deserves recognition for the hard work and great effort he puts into his work making our experience an amazing one. Would definately recommend and will be attending again.

I had the pleasure of trying this fantastic restaurant for the first time last week, and I was genuinely impressed! From the moment I stepped inside, the staff went out of their way to make sure our experience was exceptional. Their warmth and attention to detail set the stage for an amazing meal. Now, onto the food. The restaurant offers a wide variety of sushi, and each bite was a delight. It was a true treat for the taste buds! I also got to try Korean BBQ for the first time, which instantly became my favourite part of the meal. With a grill right at the center of the table, we could cook our own meats and seafood, making the experience interactive and fun. This setup allowed us to savor each dish at our own pace, creating a relaxed and enjoyable dining flow. I enjoyed my visit so much that I couldn’t resist going back again this week for lunch. Safe to say, this restaurant has quickly become a new favourite!

A good sushi restaurant with quick to respond staff.

First time eating BBQ here. We loved a different style of dining. And being able to grill our own meats. The down side of the menu for me was no vegetable options to add to the grill. Typically I thought Korean BBQ was wrapped up in a lettuce leaf, But here the small side salad was shredded. General great very attentive staff but the place was only half full for a Saturday night seemed like they could be busy. I would definitely go back. And maybe ask the staff directly for vegetables and large lettuce leaves next time as I felt my meal was missing some greens!

Went for the first time this evening, it was a lovely looking restaurant and the staff were really friendly and helpful. We had the bottomless menu and it was excellent value for money particularly as children eat free! The food was absolutely delicious we will definitely be going again soon.

Have visited twice recently, at the end of Sep and last weekend. Staff were friendly and helpful and the menu choices wide, good value and most importantly, delicious! Can't wait to visit again!

I cannot recommend this enough!!! We didn’t realise they had the Korean BBQ table grills when we looked at the website, but once we saw them and the very reasonable menu we immediately went for it. 😋😋😋 The grilling was the most fun I’ve ever had at a restaurant, and it was so nice to slowly eat and chat while waiting for the food to cook. And the meat was amazing! The most beautifully thin slices (which are cut to order) and so flavourful!! Plus they provide you with garlic butter which was the icing on the cake 🤤 A feature they had that I really loved is the buzzers on the tables, so if you needed a member of staff, you can call them over to the table to ask for things! Not that we needed to use it 😂 Even though there was a huge party at the restaurant when we went (we were walk-ins) the staff were still so lovely and checked on us to apologise for delays and check we were ok! Cannot rate them highly enough!!!

One of “my spots” that I love to bring people to when I want to impress, incredible value for money, top notch service that makes the visit feel unique every time and the best food I’ve ever had in a bottomless offer. Can’t recommend enough and worth the over an hour drive.

Food was absolutely astonishing. If you do three rounds of the bottomless menu and as many drinks as you can it is totally worth it. Brad our waiter was lovely has great jokes and was better than almost every waiter I’ve experienced in even London. Would totally recommend.

We have been here a few times this year and the food is always amazing, cant fault it. Service of drinks can be alittle slow or just forgotten if you order with the manager. We will be going back though.

OK but won't go back service not so great

We were out for a birthday meal with a table booked for two, went with the bottomless with drinks. Arrived at 7 and by 8:30 we had had a bowl of rice, edamame and pork skewers even tho we ordered chicken. Really disappointing as we loved it before. We wanted to be home by 9 so just asked to leave. Wasted evening

The first time we ordered a takeaway here was few days ago, Salmon Teriyaki rice, they gave us about 7-8 salmon slices, today we ordered the same and was given only 3 salmon slices, with the same price paid at £15. Not very consistent hence given them 2 stars for the food.

Went their 3 times this week, and the first was my first time ever. Amazing hidden gem of Chelmsford just off the main street, food was amazing I couldn't get enough. Service was welcoming and just great, all the staff were friendly and had no problem helping with our orders, the main waiter, Steven, was amazing, so friendly and it was nice to meet him. Amazing food and an amazing experience, can't wait to go again, thank you!

Food was excellent. We had the unlimited sushi menu and the Korean BBQ. Both were sizeable portions. When it gets busy, the waiting staff can get a bit busy so don't be afraid to attract their attention if you want service.

Soft shell crab was dry, pot of vinegar was open so all of the gyoza were soggy, sushi covered in mayonnaise. Disappointing

Quite literally the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had. If you’re going to go, don’t use the bottomless sushi and drinks offer. Not only do they not bring your drinks, they delayed them for two hours, pretended the barrel had gone but then served new customers that individually ordered drinks and finally after asking 5 times, they brought the wrong beer. Paid for unlimited drink to receive one incorrect beer. The food itself is not too bad, it’s a shame the whole experience is ruined by the overall service. When I tried to mention this at the end, she waiter didn’t even acknowledge me, or apologise. Just stared blankly in front of her.

This place is lovely!! The staff are Incredible, friendly and polite. The food portions are generous and delicious. Can thoroughly recommend! Have attached the menu for the bottomless sushi, would definitely be back again to try more dishes

I visited this restaurant when it was Sushi One and didn't think much of it as the food was quite bland and the service not great. I booked Otaru and realised afterwards it was the same place rebranded so I had low expectations. I was pleasantly surprised however and I cant wait to come back for more. The food was delicious this time and I liked the new ordering system where you can order multiple rounds of sushi. The service was better this time around but it did feel like maybe another waiter was needed to make things smoother. Keep it up!

We waited some time for our food and when my wife's food came, I had already finished mine. My £15 tempura was definitely not worth the price. My wife's sushi rice was still warm, which means they ran out of rice, hence the reason for my wife's late sushi. I sadly did not enjoy the time there.

Food was nice. Hot food better than the sushi. Apart from they pack everything out with so much rice and not that much fish but the other food was good. Service was awful we were in the restaurant for 2 hours and only got spoken to by staff around 2 times. Had to wait about 30/40 minutes between courses. So the “all you can eat” really didn’t work as it usually is meant to. Then the worst part and this was literally advertised no where. We were told the service charge was mandatory and we had to pay it. Despite the service being bad. Such a shame.

Absolutely brilliant Japanese restaurant in Chelmsford. Went with Rocco and Gambo, and the food, service and atmosphere was absolutely top class. Brilliant!

Apparently not fresh. Are you joking?

This pains me a little because we have been there a few times - first time was amazing, second time, meh. The service and people are friendly and attentive, every time. The food - anything other than sushi was excellent. Now the sushi (which is why we go); first time, almost faultless. Second time, it was virtually just rice. Huge rice rolls, thick, wide, with ever smaller fillings. If you're unlucky enough to get an end cut - might as well just be a big square of rice. Perhaps this is just a "bottomless" menu trick, where they try to fill you with as much rice as possible so you eat less. Just a shame because the first time we went this was not a problem in the slightest. It's still a 4 because the service and non-sushi food was great. But as we go for the sushi, we won't be returning.

Service was very slow considering there were no more than 3-4 other tables being served at the time, a warm welcome and ‘service with a smile’ would have been nice. There were two members of staff who would walk around and it felt like eye contact was avoided the entire time which made it difficult to get anyone’s attention. When receiving food we’d say thank you but they’d place the food on the table again with not as much as a smile or any eye contact again, felt very awkward. Sushi was sub par, ratio of fish to rice was way off it was just like eating balls of rice. The salmon sashimi salad was awful, looks like they just use the really fatty parts of the salmon for this. Food was all you can eat, and after ordering the second round they double checked the food items we’d ticked yet still failed to bring out all the items we’d ticked on the menu. The restaurant was freezing cold so we were sat shivering whilst trying to eat, which in turn made any hot food get cold very quickly. Positives - the chicken teriyaki was nice. All in all, wouldn’t recommend. Service was cold and slow, unfortunately left feeling very underwhelmed.

Went recently and it appears it's same management as before when it was sushi one and subsequently closed down by authorities. Toilets are absolutely filthy. Food has gone down hill and they packed out the rolls with lots of rice and little fish. Also found the manager to be difficult and rude. Didn't like answering simple queries about number of items in a portion etc. I won't be returning.

They put regular mayonnaise on top of both the Dragon and Rainbow rolls. Most bizarre thing ever, I had to wipe it off with a paper towel and then deliveroo some Sriracha Mayo

Food and service was brilliant, however once your 2 hours is over they want you out. Not a big deal since there’s loads of places to go.

Big sushi fan, excited to visit. Went for a Friday evening meal. Had a range of about 8/9 different dishes. Service second to none. Nice atmosphere. Saki okay. Terrible loos. I truly hope the kitchen's installed by a different fitter and are of better spec! I mean, I couldn't quite believe the state of them. Mixed review of the food. Some was fabulous - pumpkin fritters a big hit. Salmon tempura delicious. Some was disappointing e.g. loads of mayonnaise on everything, crab flavoured sticks...!? Sea food just didn't taste fresh unfortunately. Might return for the "bottomless" deal, but prefer Yo! and Chelmsford's Jet Sushi tbh.

Some of the best sushi I have had locally. The food came incredibly quickly after ordering and the hot dishes came piping hot. All of the sushi was wonderful, with good quality fish. The staff were incredible, topping up drinks without needing to ask. Would absolutely recommend and we will be coming back in the near future!

After we complained about our coke being flat and weird tasting, the service went downhill. The manager very defensively said the cokes were from cans, no apologies from him and did not offer to replace our drinks. We were sure he was not telling the truth as the drinks tasted awful. After this, we waited ages for our food, and when they did arrive, definitely not worth the price they are charging. I don’t think the place has improved from One Sushi. In fact, it’s worse.

Ignored for a bit since walking in on a not particularly rushed night, and then when I politely asked about the possibility of a quieter table due to guest having autism, they replied with a very hostile "no.". Following this we decided to go elsewhere and were met with a rude tut and glare. Abysmal customer service and plain lack of tact.

We went for lunch on a Wednesday so it was a little quiet but the food we had was amazing. We had bottomless sushi which is great value for money, everything was made freshly there and then, the quality of the food was amazing, the sushi was soooo good and all the hot food was perfectly hot as it arrived, I would 100% go again. The service was also great, all staff were super friendly, helpful and very attentive. We have also ordered take away sushi from them before which was also great!

Mixed Experience at Otaru Sushi I recently visited Otaru Sushi after hearing great reviews about it. I opted for a takeaway instead of dining in. The restaurant's interior was impressively clean and had a modern ambiance. The waiter, though friendly, had a noticeable cigarette smell, which was a minor concern for me. For my order, I chose the Dragon Roll, Salmon Nigiri, and Chicken Katsu. The Dragon Roll and Salmon Nigiri were decent, but unfortunately, the Chicken Katsu left much to be desired. It was disappointingly dry, and this marred my overall impression of the meal. While it's possible that dining in might offer a better culinary experience, my takeaway order fell short of expectations. As a result, I'm hesitant to return to Otaru Sushi. Despite the letdown with the Chicken Katsu, the cleanliness of the restaurant and the friendliness of the staff do leave a positive impression. Perhaps trying different items on the menu or giving the dine-in experience a chance could lead to a more satisfying visit in the future.

Me and my wife were really impressed. Food was lovely and service was fantastic (we visited on Monday evening). The fact the food was unlimited was amazing considering how nice and affordable it was. We will definitely be visiting again!

First experience of a Korean BBQ. Lots of options and an enjoyable meal

Went for an evening meal with family, ended up ordering the unlimited menu which had lots of choice to select from and then all freshly prepared. All the sushi was fresh and delicious and the hot dishes were also spot on. Great value for money but also excellent quality. All staff are friendly and professional.

We went in on a weekday where we all had a dish rather than get the all you can eat deal. Chicken teriyaki was super sweet and punchy, bone broth was so creamy you will swear it has cream in it. Good food, will return to see what the sushi is like and maybe some of the deep fried stuffs. There were some teens in chowing down on the all you can eat and drink deal and what they had looked good from a far.

Lovely Saturday evening dinner at Otaru. Excellent staff, excellent food and a bottomless Japanese menu on a Saturday evening for a very reasonable price. Will definitely be returning to try the Korean BBQ with family and friends and the bottomless drinks/ sushi will definitely be a revisit for us when neither of us have to drive. Nothing like its predecessor and worth a visit for any lovers of Japanese and Korean food!

The staff are very friendly and are happy to assist where they can. The bottomless sushi is delicious and extremely filling with big portion sizes. I would definitely recommend eating here and the warm dishes are delicious too.
