Placed an order for delivery online for over £70 having eaten in the restaurant previously. Every item apart from one was wrong. Was meant to be a special birthday meal so really upsetting. Contacted the restaurant but no reply. So disappointing.

Visited here a few times for dinners out, amazing service and food each and every time, quite a high end pricing however is absolutely worth it for what your given. Would absolutely recommend the pork gyozas, my favourite thing on the menu. Definitely worth a visit if your around and enjoy Japanese food.

Went in for an impromptu lunch on a Saturday afternoon as a party of 3 including an infant. Was seated immediately by a rather timid server. We weren’t offered any baby chair so I parked up our small pram and spent the rest of our experience juggling them on my lap (not great but fine). We ordered some robata options as well as the tempura prawns and the lunch option of the bao buns. The robata we ordered consisted of the chicken thigh and the wings. Both were absolutely delicious! If I had to be a bit picky I would have liked the wings with a little more char on them but they were delightful. Each had about 3 portions (cubes or wings) on a skewer. The tempura prawns was again amazing. The batter was light, airy and not greasy and I could have happily ordered another portion as we were unfortunately sharing. My companion had the bao buns on the lunch option which was 3 varieties. I did partake in a bite of chicken katsu which was nice enough but the chicken was not up to the same standard as the robata. I would recommend this place in a heart beat and unlike the bustle of Epping high street is a nice and serene little place with narrow seating but a simple atmosphere and more importantly tasty food at a reasonable price.

First time here and it didn’t disappoint. Lots of options to choose from and the food was yummy. We ordered the Beef Don, lamb chop, sunshine margarita and summer love cocktail. The service was good. The only thing was when he came to ask if we were doing okay and saw and empty plate, he picked up the plate across our food instead of walking to the other side to pick it up; especially while we still eating. Asides from that, I recommend

Upon arrivals, we were brief with several bottomless rules including only one drink per person at any one time and the last order will need to be placed 15 minutes before the end of the 90 minutes from the start time. Some of us ordered sushi and only given soy sauce without wasabi, when asked for wasabi, it took a while to arrive leaving us unable to start eating the food. Wasabi should automatically be served for sushi! The rest of the food was okay, nothing impressive. The drinks were slow to arrive, taking a painful 10-20 minutes each time. They deliberately keeping drinks at the bar to slow things down, we were left without drinks most of the time. We called the manager after we saw him making a hand gesture to the waiting stuff to stop serving us drinks. He implies that between 4 people we have had 24 drinks and no longer can have anymore despite we still have 20 minutes left within our timeslot. Another manager also suggested that we must drink responsibly and its his responsibility to ensure that! We were not loud nor behaving inappropriately, just 4 ladies in 40’s and 50’s having food and drinks. I have visited Katana Peterborough 6 times in the last 4 months, but this is the first bottomless brunch here – NEVER AGAIN nor that I will return again.

A great little Japanese restaurant. The food is lovely and reasonably priced, there is a bewilderingly wide range of options (the menu is a minefield for the indecisive 😏), and the staff are friendly and helpful. If you like Japanese food, you shouldn't be disappointed. It's a very small restaurant, with only seven or eight tables. This does also mean it's cosy - there is (by necessity) not much space between tables, so it's not an intimate dining experience. Kazoku is rightly very popular, so you'll need to book well in advance. They also do take away. They deliver, but it often takes a _long_ time to arrive (2h+ is not unknown) so order early. The food has always tasted better when I've eaten it at the restaurant, though - I don't know if this is purely psychological :-) _May 2025: Quick update - we visited again recently and it was clear that the volume of take-away orders they were trying to service was significantly impacting their ability to maintain a reasonable wait time in the restaurant. I had to wait the best part of an hour for my food and my dining companion had nearly finished her food by the time mine arrived. Also there is a constant stream of delivery drivers walking into and out of the restaurant, which is fairly disruptive for such a small premises._

Quite possibly the worst meal we’ve ever had. Sloppy Paella with lumps of fat, not beef. Steak was a lump of fat. Seabass was a tiny piece of fish covered in some cheap sauce. Calamari was awful. Drinks and service were fine. Will never be returning and recommend everyone to steer clear.

Me and my boyfriend frequently get the chicken Katsu and sushi from here. It never disappoint, the chicken Katsu has a generous portion of Rice and Chicken, with plenty of sauce. The sushi is also always so fresh with a great variation to choose from. Staff are helpful and friendly, very lovely family.

Warm welcoming, friendly manner service of staff Lovely mixtured atmosphere British n Japanese. All the dishes are delicious, we all enjoyed them. Deep-fried authentic Japanese disjes are mainly available. We're hopimg to go back for Sushi night which needs to sign up in advance and happens occasionally. Thank you so much, I had an amazing experience for my family birthday celebration. 😄

An excellent meal, we ordered a real selection of dishes and all were equally good. It was very popular and service was very efficient. My advice would be to order courses as you want them as it can feel overwhelming if they arrive at the same time.

We tried a takeaway from here and was extremely impressed. The portions of food were huge and really good quality and taste. We had the chicken katsu curry, teriyaki beef and Thai crackers. All of it was delicious, looking forward to trying more things on the menu.
