Wakusei Ltd in Dacorum

We walked in as a group of 5 on a late evening on a weekday, there was one other couple inside, and one person on a laptop doing accounting or something in the corner. I can only explain the decor as if we was living in soviet russia, also there was 0 atmosphere. We left before ordering and went elsewhere as we was all heavily depressed. Can’t comment on the food

Atmosphere was a bit flat. On a Saturday night there were just 5 tables of guests. Food was great although the plate was cold so my hot noodles got cold quickly. Could do with warming the plates for hot dishes. Staff were pleasant and attentive.

Good portion sizes. Takoyaki did not have much octopus if any and noodles seem store bought. Staff was friendly and welcoming food did not taste bad

My family had a Sunday lunch at the Wakusei restaurant and were very impressed by the food we had. Sushi was excellent as well as takoyaki, tempura, gyoza, etc.The staff were also very helpful, definitely worth an other visit.

Went for lunch after seeing a sponsored post on Facebook. Our food wasn't hot and sent 2 dishes back. The restaurant wasn't busy so there was a lack of atmosphere. If I decide to return I think the best meal would be a Bento box. So very undecided on a next visit.

Came in with a group for my birthday during the week with a group, staff were friendly, food was really good, they took care of us, made an extra sauce for a gluten allergy, fresh flowers and even sorted a birthday cake. Sushi was a bit sauce heavy but the tempura prawns are easily a 10/10.

Lovely restaurant with such kind and friendly staff. The sushi was fresh and delicious! The service was brilliant - the waitress said they had taken the service charge off because they’d been slow but we thought everything was perfect! They refused to let us tip on card and sadly we didn’t have any cash on us. We’ll definitely be back to make up for it!

Great service, amazing food and our birthday girl was given roses and a cake with a sparkling candle. They even sang happy birthday with a background music recording. Lovely food and people here. Excellent choice of wines too. There weren't many people in the restaurant so I gave 4 stars for atmosphere but to be honest having the place pretty much to ourselves on a cold Wednesday evening was nice. The server that looked after us was so lovely. Thank you!

Third time dining in this Culinary Jewel and its time I gave it the review it deserved. Food is fantastic and reflects the passion put into it by the Chef. It always comes to the table immaculately presented and in a respectable portion. There's a wide variety on the menu with each dish being distinctive in its taste. The drinks menu while not extensive offers a variety of different wines, soft drinks and Sake. Both food and drink are reasonably priced and most certainly hold their value. Waiting times are short. The staff are extremely helpful and available at a moments notice should anything be required, they're not intrusive and offer advice on the contents of the menu so you know what you're ordering. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting, music is good and the table layout is appropriate to the order. Of course being a Japanese restaurant, chop sticks are a default however cutlery is available if needed. The restaurant is maintained to a very high standard of cleanliness throughout. All in all, no complaints from me. Overall this restaurant is worth the 5 star rating and in my opinion, doesn't recieve the attention it deserves. Give this restaurant a go!

One of the most elegant Japanese restaurants in hemel with organic food. lovely vegan food . Definitely will head back here again am thankful for the veggie options aswell as the supportive wonderful waitresses whom are super friendly warming 😊. Well worthy for money too you get large quaintys of food with kastu curry with tofu with goes well too .One of the best east asian restaurants I've ever been to in hemel whilst the restaurant provides lovely herbal tea with cute antiques proper japanese kettle too . Another sweet thing staff do is they always check your dietary requirements before serving food which is amazing 👏🏼.

Overall good food specially those deep fried tempura and katsu but disappointed by the tuna slices. Nice atmosphere with fair price.

What a gem in the middle of Hemel! We travelled from a nearby city for date night and were thoroughly surprised. It was very quiet for a Saturday evening but otherwise a wonderful experience. It's quite difficult to find (easily accesible) great sushi where the fish is fresh and soft like butter, rice seasoned just right, not smothered in kewpie, and cut/sized perfectly for your mouth! The sushi chef (and owner) achieves all this and more. He takes pride in his work and it shows. We tried things that we hadn't before, like the Hiyayakko and Agedashi tofu, and the Yuzu ice cream and Mochi were delicious. Service was very kind and would definitely come back here again. Arigato gozaimasu!

5 stars all around. My friends planned a surprise babyshower lunch and honestly the resturant was phenomenal. All our dishes were very delicious, the staff, were just incredible. The place was great. I will be returning very many more times. The resturant even had flowers and a card for me. Thank you so much. All of us were so impressed with the food, service and everything else. And they catered to all our dietary requirements - which was important as one friend is vegan, two vegetarians. All in all 5*

Best Tonkotsu ramen I’ve ever had - I was very very impressed. Got some Salmon Nigiri on the side to benchmark how authentic the chef was too and I was not disappointed - they were extremely skilled. You have to come here

Normally good but waited for delivery for a while did ask staff to let me no but she didn’t no how king they will take ended up waiting 15mins to b told another 10mins

We ordered our first takeaway today. Food was amazing!! Very tasty ramen and fresh sushis and sashimis. I felt it was a but pricey but the quality of food is great so no complaints at all 😁 Glad to have a nice Japanese food locally.

Absolutely stunning! Came here this evening from out of the area and I can't wait to return. The food is delicious and the service is so friendly and welcoming. My friend and I shared starters: Edamame, Chicken Karaage, Gyoza and Takoyaki. All wonderful. She had the Teriyaki Salmon and I went for the Eel Donburi. Both dishes were superb, the Eel quite literally melted in the mouth. It was by far the best food I've had in the area and I highly recommend a visit (and the Takara plum wine!) Thank you for such a lovely evening.

Ordered food over the phone, the person who answered the phone was very friendly, took my order, advised the order will be ready in 20 min and they were spot on The food was high quality and tasty.. will definitely order again. The only downside, it's hard to park to collect the order .. but that's not the restaurant's fault.. it's Hemel Council for not allowing 10 min parking or loading Overall great place, will recommend

What an amazing restaurant! Had a great time here today. The atmosphere is so relaxed. The staff are so kind and helpful. The food was beautiful. Everyone really enjoyed themselves. The staff had the experience extra special as they knew we were celebrating a birthday. My favourite dishes of what I tried were the tempura broccoli, veg special sushi rolls and chicken katsu curry. Would definitely recommend eating here!

The sushi is amazing love it but on the day the waitress seemed inexperienced there were only two tables and she seemed to struggle. We have been before and will go again. I can't believe it not busier because it wonderful .

Deceptive from the outside with bland decor, but the food made up for it. We had three different starters and three different mains, all were excellent. Definitely worth a visit.

My fiancé and I visited this restaurant on her birthday, they prepared the BEST table for us and gifted her FLOWERS alongside with a chocolate fudge CAKE in the end of our meals without any special requests on our part, they did it on their own for her honour, we were extremely surprised and happy! and were amazed at not only the quality of food, but also the service! We highly recommend this place if you’re looking for the best Japanese food and experience! This is easily one of, if not the best meals we’ve ever eaten. I cannot recommend this place enough! Such a warm and welcoming environment! Thank you WAKUSEI Restaurant for EVERYTHING!!!

INCREDIBLE service - we went for a birthday and they pulled out all the stops, more so than any other restaurant I've ever been to - flowers, card, cake etc located near a car park which is useful spacious, well decorated, clean bathrooms food was good, great karaage, miso aubergine and seaweed salad were slightly too sweet for my likely, generous portion sizes

Very long wait, food not as hyped. Basic. Very suffocating as they had no aircon on. Very dark n dull place. Felt like im in the middle of funeral service

Food was delicious, we had selection of starters and mix sashimi... Definitely recommend with salmon and tuna Hamachi, it's melting in mouth 😋 The prices are good, not overpriced comparing to the other places we have been. No complaints! Service also great, very welcoming and all of the staff we've seen they had smile on their face which makes you smile as well. Will definitely be back to try other dishes on the menu!

The photos say it all. Ordered through deliveroo. Rolls were ok. Pork katsu was a shock. Wasn’t cheap 🥲 You’ve become my inspiration to learn making Japanese food.

Found this place by chance in the high street, it's been open since last October! Although quiet at lunchtime, service was quick, staff very friendly and helpful and food delicious. Would recommend, treat with granddaughter before she went off to Uni. She has food sensitivities had the Japanese vegan curry - very tasty

We got take away from here and the food was fabulous! Miso Aubergine was one of the best I’ve had. Will be coming back!

We had a great meal at Wakusei, it did take a while for the food to come out but everything is delicious and is obviously made from scratch - it’s great that Hemel has such an authentic Japanese restaurant, we will be returning!

The food here is absolutely excellent: every dish was cooked and presented excellently. Stand-outs for me were the takoyaki and the salmon nigiri. I've had excellent sushi in many different places and this was as good as anything I've had. The service was also a real highlight - our waitress in particular was so kind and touchingly genuine. All the other staff were very pleasant too. Really a lovely experience in every respect. Looking forward to coming back - there's a lot we didn't try, need to make up for that.

This restaurant is probably one of the best ones in town. I went to eat in for the first time, the staff was polite, the food was absolutely delicious, the ambience is calm, family friendly and comfortable. Also the space is clean and is hygienic. If you like Japanese food I recommend this place with my whole heart.

Very nice place. We ordered Takoyaki and 2 sushi rolls. Takoyaki was absolutely delicious and sushi was nice and fresh.

Foods lovely. However an item was forgotten off my order this evening. I called to explain and firstly they disputed it was missing, making me check the bag twice. they refused to deliver it citing they were very busy and said 'that i just needed to understand that'. Not once was i not understanding nor did i get angry or raise my voice, i just wanted my dinner. There was no apology from the staff just a matter of fact answer that they won't deliver it. What a shame when a restaurant has good food but terrible customer service & doesn't appreciate regular custom.

Ordered food for delivery. Reasonably quick for weekday lunchtime. The sushi is incredible - really well made and great quality fish. Will definitely order again and try to dine in at some point.

Came across this place by chance. The place was empty but was expected on a weekday and for dinner. However there was a constant stream of takeaway orders. The place has been around for about 7l on the and is very well kept. The menu has the usual Japanese items but there were a few authentic Japanese items which I have not seen before in the UK. The hot food was well made and quantity was fairly good. The sushi were tasty but the rice wrapping did not appear fresh. The service was very hospitable particularly Barsha our waitress. Overall it was a good experience with some really tasty food

I checked time on Google, 12.00 to 23.30. When I came at 15.15.....time showing on door , 12.00 to 15.00 and 15.30 to 23.30....I spend 15 on taxi...

I ended up spending £40 for one person meal! Expecting something pretty special for that price I was severely disappointed. The quality of the produce seems good but the flavors were all bad. I didn't like any of the food that I ordered unfortunately what a waste of money. Also charging such high prices when they only have a food safety rating of 3 is laughable/disingenuous.

Would highly recommend this place! Sushi is very good. We went for a birthday and they put up balloons and gave the birthday girl a card, Flowers and a cake! Such great service, so many smiles and really went above and beyond to make it special. So happy there is finally a good sushi place in Hertfordshire!!

Amazing food, highly recommend if you are a huge fan of Asian and Japanese food. Tried a couple of the bento boxes and the salmon sashimi was to die for, smooth and silky and had a great taste. Try it out if you haven't already.

Always a delight going to wakusei, the food is amazing and the portions are the perfect size, the staff are always willing to help, the atmosphere is always so calm and relaxing

A nice little place in town, the food here is really nice, with a good selection of Japanese foods to choose from. We all went with Takoyaki, with we all agreed was great. To each of our individual meals, we all enjoyed them thoroughly. It's a little quiet at times, but it's great if you want a bit of peace when eating. It had no issues serving a large group of us (9)

We were welcomed by a very friendly waitress with a traditional Japanese greeting. The room is spacious, bright and pleasant. The furniture is comfortable. The food is served quickly and of great quality. The menu has a wide variety of options, all very interesting. The Bento Boxes are a highly recommended option, since they come with miso soup, sushi, gyozas (fried) and a dish depending on your choice (in my case chicken katsu with rice). Certainly a restaurant to return to.

We have just got back from lunch and it was so delicious. The staff were incredibly friendly and the food was amazing! We had the sashimi set, the Tokyo bento and the Katsu bento; all of which tasted really authentic. Best of all the sashimi was so fresh and the tempura lovely and light. So happy we finally came to try Wakusei and we’re just sad we didn’t sooner! Highly recommended 😊 Thanks for a lovely meal.
