Love this restaurant. Delicious sushi and lovely service staff.

Went as a group of 5 (1 person with gluten intolerance) on a Wednesday. It was busy when we arrived at 19:00 until we left a couple of hours later. Bill was circa £260 this included a mixture of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. In hindsight we ordered a vast amount of food because it looked and sounded so good. We ordered entirely off the sushi part of the menu. Regarding gluten free, they had a menu marked with a high lighter indicating what was gf. They also would offer advice i.e. certain things we ordered could be made gf. I’m not normally a fan of live music in restaurants on the grounds that I can’t hear conversations. There was a young woman singer/guitarist who sang covers beautifully and had the volume just right for a restaurant context. Forgot to mention that it’s an informal dining venue. We live in the Chelmsford area and went on a recommendation.Really liked it, well worth the journey and we will return.

Best Japanese food I’ve ever eaten. Truly on another level - I even went back the next day to order my dinner meal again for lunch.

From the moment we entered we loved the atmosphere and coziness of this place. Our waiter Greta was so nice and we felt like we had special treatment. Food was great and I love the fact that they have seperate vegan menu! 🪴 Win win! I would definitely come back and recommend.🌸

I recently had lunch at Sushi and salad and it was a wonderful experience. The food was delicious, but what really made the meal stand out was the exceptional service. Pramila greeted us with a warm welcome. Samjhana’s attentive care throughout our meal made sure we had everything we needed, and Janak’s friendly, professional service kept the experience smooth and enjoyable. Their teamwork truly made our lunch memorable. Highly recommend this spot for both fantastic food and top-notch service!

We probably visit S&S bi-weekly and it’s become our fav family treat. We have 2 young vegetarian kids and a mixture of vegetarian and meat eating adults and we ALL have a list of fav dishes. The team working there are also brilliant. We often attend with 4 generations of family from aged 6 - 96 and the staff give all of us the perfect amount of attention.

Fantastic eating experience, so much so, you will want to book your next meal before you’re have finished your first. Polite and helpful staff, and if you don't know how to use chop sticks, don't panic, just ask for a fork.

Absolutely love this gem of a place. Best sushi and best vegetarian food ever. I have always struggled to get good veggie or vegan options at Japanese restaurants but this place has a whole separate well thought out and delicious menu. Kids loved it and husband loved the Torro special which you only normally find in London restaurants. Amazing food, great service, gorgeous setting... We will be back.... Soon!

Sushi and Salad in Safron Walden is a 30 minute drive for us to reach however, it is worth it! The food was delectable, well presented and expertly prepared. A vegan menu was perfect for my hubby and provided a plethora of food choices. Call ahead for a spot....it does get crowded!

Did not have sushi or sashimi but their ramen, gyoza and karaage were good. The service was also excellent. A bit on the pricy side but not many, if any, Japanese restaurants in the area so worth a try if want good Japanese food.

My only thought was there was too much choice and menus, found it a bit confusing, one of the staff were very helpful and helped us.

Visited here for the first time on Friday 27th September with my mum, for my 30th birthday. I am an ambulatory wheelchair user and there is a step into the restaurant but the lovely people working here were so helpful with this. The place is decorated so beautifully! The music was great and felt a very chilled atmosphere. The staff are absolutely lovely. The food was delicious!! The best sushi experience I've ever had. 😍 They then gave me a cheesecake for my birthday 🥹 which was the kindest and loveliest gesture. Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience. We really cannot wait to come back here ! ❤️

Brilliant little place! When a friend booked it, I was expecting a fast food, plastic seating type place but it couldn’t be any different! Quiet, quaint old fashioned and very small restaurant. Staff very friendly, place was clean and food was delicious. Only downside is just one toilet but don’t let that put you off. Menu is vast, lots of specials and great for vegans/vegetarians. Definitely visit!

Beautifully presented and incredibly fresh sushi. The staff are so welcoming , we were in a huge group and they really looked after us. A wonderful treat that wasn’t overly expensive. I have eaten a lot of sushi over the years and this is definitely up there . So lucky to have this restaurant in saffron Walden.

We visited Sushi and Salad last night for my birthday. This was my fourth visit and I have loved it each time. My husband and two girls love it too. We had a range of different sushi, sashimi and gyoza all of which was delicious but I think the dragon rolls were my favourite...

Quality has declined while the prices have risen. Ordered for the first time since the price increase and so disappointed in the vegetable yakisoba. Nowhere close to being worth the amount I spent on it. It was so so bland. Despite it being advertised as a dish with vegetables, I only had one teeny tiny sprig of broccoli in it, some onion, and a few bits of pepper. Had to season it myself.

We had a guest with gluten intolerance & the menu was very clear for her to navigate. We had one of the best Japanese meals I have eaten outside London. Staff were friendly & helpful and we felt most welcome. Looking forward to visiting again to try other dishes.

Great food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere but poor service. When the restaurant is busy which it was when we arrived, it's obvious they are understaffed. A shame really as it did put a cloud over the excellent food.

I would recommend this restaurant to everybody this is the 3rd time of dining here and the food is superb with attentive and exceptional staff.

We had read a lot of really positive reviews about this restaurant, and wandering past one evening, we noticed how busy the restaurant was. The menu sounded lovely, and we asked for a table for two. We were shown to the basement area, which was cosy, beautifully decorated, and there was a lovely ambience. The staff were so friendly, and full of passion and wonderful recommendations. Our food was absolutely delicious, and the service was excellent. The raspberry and pistachio cheesecake was amazing. We literally cannot fault this restaurant. We haven't stopped talking about it. What a wonderful eatery in the heart of Saffron Walden. Perfect, and we will be back. Five stars doesn't do this place justice. First class!
