We held my Mum's 'Celebration of Life' at the Plough yesterday and thanks to Paola and Raphael it was more of a lovely party, which is exactly what Mum would have loved. I had told Paola that Mums favourite flowers were pink and they had put lots of lovely vases of fabulous arrangements around the pub, and not just a handful of Tuilips, but great vases of roses and all sorts. We also asked them to offer 'Bellini's' to people on arrival which they did and the wine was delicious as was all the food. The staff were friendly but professional and the chefs worked hard. A sad day was made bearable thanks to these guys and the setting was perfect for our 50 or so guests who sat in the comfortable chairs or mingled around the table and chairs. I would thoroughly recommend The Plough for any occassion. Thanks again to them all.

Fabuloso. Increíble, auténtica pizza con opciones veganas. Desafortunadamente, su calificación ha sido saboteada por personas que revisan todo el camino desde Tel Aviv, simplemente por apoyar (con razón) la causa palestina. Eso me hace más propenso a gastar dinero allí: solidaridad! 🇵🇸

Absolute joke of a place. Came here for Mother’s Day. Had a booking for 7pm, waited 50 minutes outside for our table, the queue was out the car park for people that had reservations. No exaggeration. We were seated on a makeshift table opposite the patio doors in the way of the waiters and people walking through, it was for a table for 4 but we’re were a book my fo 6, we asked the manager if we could be moved as we had a baby in a highchair that kept being knocked into to which he said “in an ideal world I would move you but I can’t” we persevered. Drinks order was taken twice by two different waiters, then another waiter came to ask for the drinks order. Drinks came at 8:30. Food then followed at 9:15 we had one round of drinks all night, no waiters came to check, we did ask one waiter who never returned. Was asked for deserts by 3 different waiters again, asked for the bill off the manager who was sat at the bar drinking pints, and carried on until we approached and asked for the bill again. Took the mic, and he didn’t care.. genuinely never experienced such poor service. There’s no organisation at all. Such a shame I have been before and had no complaints. I felt embarrassed that I brought my mother in law, I’ll never come back again.

Awful service yet again. Waited 50 minutes for a main course pre theatre. It's good job we didn't order starters as we had to rush our food. Where do you start with the service in this place. Ordered two aperol spritz which were served without ice. Later found out when we got the bill these were £12.95 each! This is Stoke not London! Who serves a drink like this without ice on a hot summers evening? We weren't asked if we wanted more drinks so after 45 minutes of waiting for food we requested two soft drinks given our wait. No apology just the food would be there soon. When the food eventually did arrive no one came to ask if everything was ok with the food. Had they asked we would have said it was bland. When we were given the bill we requested the two soft drinks be removed as a gesture of good will given the poor experience. The manager/owner proceeded to shout and scream at us in front of a full restaurant of customers. Will not be returning.

When you go to cafe Nero you know what to expect, mediocre coffee and sad pastries. What I come for is the work friendly atmosphere and longer opening hours. To be told, we are closing half an hour earlier for no reason but because the barista wants to go home earlier is a reason I'll start going to a different chain.

We only booked for one night, (9 Oct 24) but that was enough on checking we had to pay again simply because Hotels.com had not paid for it. It took me six days to get that back only after threatening them with the charge back. The card details they had were incorrect and would not accept that I did not have that card, but after two days they said oh we are awfully sorry for the mistake, we will refund your money as soon as possible. The next morning, we went for breakfast the restaurant was closed Doors locked, but then my wife noticed a woman running down the street round the back of the restaurant & inside and unlock door do you want breakfast? yes, was my reply, we entered got offered in a glass bottle, fizzy mango or mandarin drink would you like for English? Breakfast? Was my reply? When is arrived? It was one of each item that you normally get with a full English breakfast, the coffee was drinkable, It tasted a bit like Turkish coffee but about three times stronger, I like my coffee strong and black but even I couldn’t drink it it was so bitter it was unreal. Thank you to you, I believe she was the lady coming to Service bedrooms that were being vacated that day but made an effort which is more than I can say for the hotel itself. Answers to questions below the answers we have are not there certainly would describe it as luxury fairly adequate would certainly apply, The room I have to say was okay but this Hotel really does need to think about what it is trying to do if the year was 1955 it might just about be OK, (checking in was done on a piece of A4 printing paper) but in 2024 it does not come up to anywhere near the standard of anybody’s expectations. I have to say, I would not recommend this hotel/restaurant to anybody unless you are absolutely desperate steer well clear.

Turned up for a pre booked lunch with our friends, immediately after they were married in Newbury. Restaurant was closed. They had not bothered to notify us and 6 weeks later there is still no apology! Absolutely disgusting way to behave. Don’t deserve to be in business.

This restaurant has so much potential....but the music is far to loud and up tempo. Music should be low and calming so you can talk and enjoy the food..service was okay but could be improved. Food was tasty. Expensive 86.00 for 3 people
