Caffe Nero in East Hertfordshire

The staff is nice and lovely but what I find detecting that the top floor is locked down at 15:00 when the coffee shop is open until 18;00 especially on Saturday and Sunday

3 stars 'it's OK' - could do far far better for coffee in Bishop's Stortford. Flat White is pretty rubbish, the one from Greggs is better!

Friendly, good-natured staff serving excellent coffee and iced drinks. Popular with locals and people passing through, and as nice an atmosphere as any similar place in Stortford to sit and read, work with a laptop, people-watch or have a quiet conversation. Music is okay, decor generic but inoffensive, hard seats a little uncomfortable but leather-upholstered seats nice and cozy. Food and drink are expensive, similarly priced to other chains like Costa and Pret, but the quality is good, especially the cakes.

Caffe Nero in Bishop's Stortford is a delightful spot for a quick coffee break. The coffee has a slight bitterness to it, but that's just a matter of personal taste. I use the Vitality app to earn points and redeem them for a free coffee, so it's hard not to enjoy a complimentary coffee once a week! The staff are always friendly and courteous, and the café itself has a cosy atmosphere. Highly recommended for a relaxing break!

The team are fantastic here. Plenty of choice of seats upstairs and down. Nappy change facilities good. Always feel welcomed here. Staff give amazing customer service friendly.New Iced velvety Americano is delicious

Forgot to bring my wallet at an occasion, staff was extremely kind about the situation and even offered to let it slide. I did pay and sort out everything at the end. Staff were super kind and reassuring during the whole hassle. 10/10 service

All the staff are friendly, helpful and polite - unfortunately they have to deal with rude customers/keyboard warriors that post on google when they have the hump. Been in the line witnessing it a few times. The staff members: Sandra/Claudia/Amy - all work really hard and are fast at serving. Cleaning of the shop is a bit of an arduous task, they do the best with the equipment given. For those that complained about mopping the shop at 5:47pm get over your selves. Costa is across the road go sit in there or better go home. Work a week in their shoes and see how you get on. Oh and the reason theres never any ice drinks is the machinery constantly breaks down. Not their fault. At the end of the day they can only do what they can with what they have! Keep up the good work ladies and ignore the moaners!!!

Staff are rude and always a long line out of the door. I go in with my partner on a weekly basis and they never have any ice so not able to have an iced drink. This is not just the hottest times of the year but also winter! Why is this? Been to other Nero shops and far better delivery hall of service and everything is available. I get the impression cold drinks take longer to make and staff can’t be bothered to make them, therefore a sign stops customers requesting.

Great cafe, with great staff but needs a complete furniture update. The furniture upstairs is so old and dirty, you don't want to sit and enjoy your time there and it has been like this for over 3 years now. It seems the owners don't care.

Great place to start your morning and New Year from a Deathly silent but much littered Bishops Stortford, nice Riverside walk in a bit to blow out the cobwebs.

Good friendly staff that get the orders correct. Bit pricey , but that’s standard. Only issue is they allow dogs in there. Today we queued up and the man behind us let his dog bark very loudly, on and on and made not attempt to shut it up at all. The man looked too scary to say anything to so had to put up with it. Also another lady got a glass of water and meant for customers and let her dog drink out of it , which is gross as the next person to use it will be a human! Why do people treat their dogs like humans? Not everyone likes dogs when they are trying to enjoy a nice quiet drink. I won’t be back!

WARNING - Luxury Hot Chocolate - NOT FIT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION... Visit 20/11/23- Within less than an hour of drinking Cafe Nero's "luxury hot chocolate" I felt very nauseous and by the time I arrived home - I had developed very itchy swollen skin, scratchy eyes and my head felt it was on fire - it was obviously a reaction to this drink as I hadn't eaten or drank all day. When ordering I was informed their "luxury hot chocolate" was vegan-based. I said that this was fine and could I choose oat or almond milk. I was very surprised when told their LUXURY HOT CHOCOLATE IS PRE-MADE AND DELIVERED TO CAFE NERO IN CARTONS and all they do is heat it up!!! Have spoken with the manager at Cafe Nero Bishops Stortford this morning and warned her as I am concerned for others especially children on the run-up to Christmas...

Flat white is a latte. A joke. Food gross. Pistachio cake is like a mousse but honestly you dont feel you had cake. Place is dirty, dirty plates everywhere and you need to remove it yourself. Music definitely too loud. Will not be back.

Cafe closes at 6pm And on Friday at 5.47 the lady behind the counter starting mopping The floor whilst the cafe was still busy and even mopped under tables where people were sitting. Shocking

Please let customers in front of the shop know that you’re reeling in the cover. My partner was completely drenched by the rainwater and it fell in his drink that he had only had a sip of.

I generally use this coffee shop to grab a takeout coffee before work. Service is always fast and friendly. I've not eaten here yet so cannot comment on the food.

Wanted a takeaway coffee after drinking in, at 17.55. The curt response from the supervisor was ‘we’re closed now’. Opening hours are until 6pm. I could have used that coffee, with a long night ahead of me. So thanks for that.

A great place to have a milkshake or coffee. I have a lot of discounts from vitality so I practically get everything for free! Staff could be better but overall good👍 Food is really good so you can't really complain. Toilets are decent, though they could be clean more often. Sometimes busy, but that doesn't make much of a difference because there are usually 2-4 members of staff at the counter. Parking not ideal because Jackson Square is always busy but still, it's very good👍 Suggest going here!

No air conditioning, it’s crazy hot (June 2023). Poor workers who have to live in this nightmare.

Never enough seating downstairs. Can't climb stairs so forced to sit at ground level.

***Avoid*** The place is dirty, damaged, run down. Sofas are cracked and dirty, need proper wipe down and deep clean. Tables are wobly and dirty, no proper cleaning detergent used on them for a long time. Plates and cups are often left on tables and not cleared up for a long time. Staff do not regularly clear and clean the tables. When asked to take the previsous customer's dishes away the place is not wiped down. The spray that I see them sometimes using is probably just 'antiviral' and not prover cleaning product. The furniture is all sticky and disgusting. The floor is dirty with food and spills on left there and just ignored by the staff. I get it's the customers that are messy but the place is disgusting. The coffee is £5 I am expecting some service. The top area was closed 1- 2 hrs befoere closing time with a broom handle. Staff stating 'it was already cleaned ready for closure. I was embarrassed taking my friends over there. I Only came for coffee and it was so basic and was blunt. This is a coffee chain but the running of this business is poor when it comes to the atmosphere in the store. Low cleaning standards.

These premises should be closed until they have received a COMPLETE DEEP CLEAN Attended the premises on Monday 17th April 2023. Upon turning the corner adjacent to the toilet it is was filled with what can only be called junk and cleaning materials. Upon entering the toilet I was greeted with what I can only describe as a grotty toilet. They were absolutely gross. water or something else on the floor , completely unclean. The toilet bowl looked like it had never been cleaned The inside of store was just like the Toilets the Seats are unclean , the wooden panelled area around the seating appears to be covered in coffee or cleaning fluid. As I look out towards the front door every surface appears to be coated in a thick layer of dust or worst. I came out of your premises feeling unclean. Clearly Management and the Council are not bothered about the Environmental Health of patrons I would think twice before using these premises

Café de gran calidad, muy bien servido y bien tirado. Cremoso sabroso y de gran sabor,. La lástima es que todas las mesas estaban con vasos y tazas sucias, tenías que apartar lo sucio para colocar tu taza. Es un lástima un lugar con un producto tan bueno que esté tan descuidado. El lugar es acogedor, cafetería con clase, pero mesas llenas de vasos usados de los clientes anteriores... Las camareras muy simpáticas atentas y agradables.

Friendly and pleasant place to enjoy an early morning coffee

Going downhill fast at this branch. About 6 staff in there most of which were trainees and their attitude is awful and look like they just cannot be bothered. This also reflects bad on who ever is supposed to be managing and training them as they must be bothered either. Today they were standing around chatting, backs to customers, throwing drinks bottles behind the bar and trying (and failing) to get it in the bin. We had to repeat a lot of our order, even simple things like having chocolate on the only coffee that was ordered. Having to ask multiple times to have a table cleaned (bearing I'm mind how many of them there were) and the fact there were probably only 4 or 5 customers in the whole cafe at the time. Unfortunately, I think we'll have to avoid this branch from now on. We'll still go to other branches as Nero is our favourite chain coffee shop.

I have been using cafe nero in stortford for a fair few months now ! The lady that opens the shop is super efficient I actually do not know how she gets through the amount of customers she has! She’s polite, friendly and lovely with all customers ! she works really hard I think you need to give her a pay rise or a promotion. Anyway thank you for being super efficient i hope the company recognises your hard work and if not i do !

This has become a fairly regular weekend treat. I'm always greeted with a smile, the coffee and food on offer are the best available from the big chain coffee shops and it's a great location.

The place looks a little run down. Some of the chairs could do with attention.

After one or two poor coffee experiences they are getting back on track, staff are relaxing, more welcoming, and listening to their customers. The quality of the coffee has also returned to pre-covid standards. I am hopeful they will return to 5 stars soon.

One staff member is particularly rude every time we are in there. No service with a smile. There’s plenty of better coffee shops in Bishop’s Stortford than this.

Never drunk so much coffee. During lockdown, I have taken more exercise and am now buying several Latte coffees a week. Now using the click and collect service, the drink is always ready within a few minutes and brought to the collection table by the front doo by the always friendly staff. Always happy to get my coffee here.

My favourite coffee place but unfortunately although coffee good there are big staffing issues ! Although I complained to head office at lack of cups when drinking in , the problem continues. I was given paper cup on numerous occasions ! Which I consider as a Take away cup. Piles of crockery and cutlery unattended to and serving staff complaining as they have no one to wash up! Usually just 2 staff. Tables dirty and unattended or cleared ! On a positive note coffee is the best !

Brilliant and friendly place for a coffee

We came just before it was closing time not busy at all . good service was served quite quick . We ordered a mango passion fruit medium which was out of the world. Will definitely be recommending this place and will definitely be returning.

It's like most cafe Neros, if you like their coffee, you'll like it here. Staff were also very friendly.

I came in before 3pm and upstairs was closed. Considering the store closes at half 6, this is absolutely ridiculous. There needs to be a manager in the store who actually cares about customer service as all the staff are rude and complete every task at a bare minimum.

It os what ot is a Nero but staff are friendly and usually clean and tidy tables unlike some.

Great little spot - the tables outside are right at the door so don't sit anywhere near the front unless you're a smoker, but there is an entire second floor. Generally clean, not always well stocked but something for everyone.

Staff were helpful and polite, even after I asked her to stamp my Costa Card because I forgot I was in Cafe Nero. Prices are more reasonable than Starbucks and the range of options isn't as confusing. I was able to spot the option to switch to Lactose Free / Soy Milk on the chalkboard without asking whereas in Starbucks in the past I've had to ask or just get iced tea. The teacakes were also nice and the overall facilities were ok. The tables upstairs needed an extra clean but they were short staffed on a Sunday and there were plenty of seats downstairs so it's fine.

The cups had awful tea/coffee stains on them, the tables were sticky. Not what you want when you’re paying six pounds for two coffees. First and last visit.

Well,. Where do I start. Coffee slammed down on the counter by Aga, eye rolling at customers. And there other server complaining in earshot about how annoying we all are. I didn't realise I was such a burden for ordering a coffee in a coffee shop. We've laughed about it but I won't go back. Staff need to smile and realise it's not that bad working for Nero's. I love the other branches,. But staff here look like they've been slapped by a wet fish.
