Beautiful restaurant with absolutely delicious food! Had the goats cheese and pistachio salad to start, and the T bone steak as our main. The staff were amazing with the owner taking a keen interest in our experience. Highly recommend.

Went there for my birthday last night, everything perfect. Service was the best we’ve had in a restaurant, food hot, well presented and fabulous, atmosphere excellent, had pianist playing, he was amazing, not too load so you could still talk and the finishing touches to an absolutely perfect evening. Genuinely had a lovely evening here with my family. The venue is modern, clean, full of ambience and they even have a lovely singer / pianist play while you enjoy your meal. The manager is lovely and clearly invested in making sure that everybody’s experience is as good as it can possibly be. The staff are amazing 🥲 very attentive - you were never waiting to get their attention. Rare these days!! The food quality was to a very high standard and not one of our dishes had an issue. I would recommend that everyone comes here! So so so good 😊 5 🌟

We came Friday 13th September for my sons graduation dinner. There was a big group of us, but the restaurant wasn't busy. Before our meal the manager spilt a glass of coke over my 2yr old granddaughter, who cried out of shock with the drink and ice over her. Not once did he say sorry, just said, I got it on my trousers too. Granddaughter was taken to the toilets to get cleaned. The drink also went all over me. Then while I started drinking my bitter lemon, I noticed bits in the glass. Took them out without issue, but then there was another one. I took it out and noticed it was a little black fly. With that we looked at the bottle and the drink was 3months out of date. My daughter took drink, and fly to the manager. They sent someone to a shop to buy a bottle of said drink. Which I had to wait quite a while for. There, was a mix up with the steaks, ending with one of our party not having a main meal, as he couldn't trust the steak would be cooked to his preference. We only got offered one drink, and that was when we arrived, we was there for 2-3 hrs. We was so disgusted with the service (lack of customer service) especially from the manager. We didn't have pudding, we just wanted to go. When we got the bill, I had to pay for my drink. There was also no reduction on the bill to do with the spillage etc. Now if that was me, I would be absolutely mortified and so apologetic. Will not be coming back.

There are some very good restaurants in Bishops Stortford however, there is only one great restaurant, Wood Grill. The food is amazing and not over priced like in other restaurants in the town and surrounding areas. The staff and service are excellent. This is the best restaurant in the area by a long long way.

Came here for my Birthday with my family, lovely restaurant, great food and really friendly staff. I can recommend the Fat Pat Burger, but you might not have any room for desert, although I did share a Chocolate Fondant, which was amazing. Reasonable prices too.

Despite stating the closing time is 9pm for Sundays. Showed up at 18:25 to enjoy dinner with my partner. Then got turned down by staff saying they were done for the day. If you want to eat dinner maybe you should book a table for 3pm instead!

This restaurant in Bishops Stortford offers an exceptional dining experience with a diverse and reasonably priced menu. The service was exemplary and prompt. The presence of a pianist in the corner of the restaurant enhanced the ambiance without being overly loud or intrusive. I highly recommend this establishment.

Food was really good especially the BBQ pork ribs. GREAT portion and yummy taste.

Only found out this had opened in Stortford by chance. We visit the Stansted branch quite often so was a nice surprise to find the chain locally. We visited on a Sunday night of the Easter bank holiday so a lovely quiet meal which suited our purpose! Staff were friendly and efficient. Food was delicious. Nice selection without being overwhelming. Portion size was just right too. Can't really comment on the atmosphere as was so quiet, but understand they have live music. Restaurant had a nice cosy feel. Will definitely be visiting again.

I came here with my family a few weeks ago and enjoyed the food so much, I convinced my work colleagues to come here for a works night out. If you like steak, then this is a great place to come, because it's cooked to perfection. Some feedback from some of my colleagues is the only reason I can't give 5 stars. One thing that cropped up from several of my colleagues is that many drinks were not available. No Prosecco, no drambuie (which is on the drinks list), no fruit ciders, were all comments that my colleagues made. They were quite surprised that they would run out of drinks on a Friday night. Also another thing that was mentioned, was that a cocktail menu would be a good idea. But I suppose when you go to a restaurant and the thing you are complaining about is "drinks" then it must mean the food is good

Quiet at lunchtime but very nice. Lovely pizza for me and wife had half a chicken which was what it said. Big Half a chicken. He would have been a big lad when whole!

Came here today for a late lunch, with our daughters, service was brilliant, the restaurant was clean and the decor was lovely, the food was really well presented and we enjoyed our stay, it was relaxed and friendly and we would definitely return.

We visited on a Sunday evening to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The atmosphere was brilliant, the food was amazing and the staff went out of their way to make it a memorable evening for us. We will be visiting again and would highly recommend!

What a great restaurant! My brie burger was one of the best burgers ever, accompanied by a very well seasoned salad. All fresh ingredients, delicious! The decor was trendy and classy and the hospitality and playlist, just perfect. It’s a shame I live so far away, otherwise that would be one of fav place to go !

First time dining here and really enjoyed it. Staff were very friendly and food was good. I had a burger and husband had a steak which we both enjoyed. Chocolate fondant dessert was lovely! Only (slightly negative) feedback is it would be nice to have more non-alcoholic drink options. There was one non-alcoholic beer on the menu and the standard soft drinks. Would be nice to include a 0% Prosecco or mocktail on the menu

Didn’t even realise it had changed hands. New menu is boring and more like a chain restaurant than the steakhouse I remembered from last time. Now boring burgers with chips place. Wouldn’t go back now.

There were 3 of us. Excellent starters, had burger, macaroni cheese and steak for mains. Sadly the steak (rib eye) was a disappointment. Hopefully this was a one off - overall it was excellent and I will most definitely return. Also, a few leaves should be replaced my a half decent side salad

Takeaway- first quoted 30mins for collection, then 45, then it took an hour, after which the order was all wrong. Have had previous incorrect goods from them before but this was last straw, never using again. Only went there as kids liked them, I much prefer fresher nicer pizza from Petruccis at Eat17, and it's cheaper. No to Dough n co.

We were staying at the Holiday Inn Stanstead, before a very early morning flight the following day. Had 2 small children with us. Ordered pizzas via Deliveroo. After many phone calls with the restaurant, the pizzas arrived two and a half hours later. The children were crying they were so hungry, had to buy them food at the Holiday Inn!! Sent many emails to Deliveroo requesting a refund as well as emailing Dough and Co, Dough & Co, have not even been bothered to respond. Shocking service. I won’t be doing that again!

We came to Butcher & Grill this evening after a wonderful experience on Mother’s Day. Bank holiday Sunday I would have expected it to be busy or at least more than 3 tables of guests (one being us) The service was terrible, we kept having to chase the waiting staff to bring us our drinks, take more drinks orders, they seemed more interested in hanging around in the back bar. The children’s burger and my burger was burnt and tough, pretty much borderline edible. Though those in the party who had steaks said they were good. The sauces for the steaks were wrong. We had to chase up the staff to order desserts and coffees, even then they missed 2 coffees on the table which we had to prompt for. We waited 20-25 minutes for our desserts to come, 2 of which were ice cream for the children. When the deserts finally arrived, the cheese biscuits were soggy and stale. We had to ask for the bill twice and then finally got it. Overall a pretty poor experience as the service and some of the food isn’t up to scratch. Ashame really as the decor is so nice.

Wonderful experience, great service. The food is delicious. Really recommend tuna ceviche and shrimp ceviche for starters.

The food was amazing! Also have a voucher for when we return. The waitress was lovely and chatty found things to talk about other than food which was nice. The only thing was it was a quiet Sunday so the atmosphere wasn’t great, but overall a great restaurant.

Great service. All food is nicely cooked and very tasty. For desert recommend sticky toffee pudding! (Photo below)

We went for dinner last week with a friend and our daughter after having been twice before. The service is always super friendly and polite. The food is fantastic and cooked to perfection. Just this one time my husband T bone was overdone instead of medium rare, but he mentioned it and in no time he got a different steak cooked as we like it. We weren't treated differently for sending it back, which sometimes makes you feel nervous as no one wants to make the chef feel bad but as we were paying over £30 for a stake we felt it was fair. It was the last T bone so we were offered an alternative that was delicious. We can't recommend this place enough, and we will definitely come back!

Got a recommendation for this spot by a friend. All I can say is wow, the food is out of this world good! I’ve eaten at a lot of places and this place was quality. The steak was perfection (and that’s difficult to find). Everything was perfect. Staff were all lovely and helpful. Fairly reasonable price to for the quality of food! Couldn’t recommend this spot enough. Thanks for a great evening 🙏🏼

My recent visit to Butcher and Grill in Bishops Stortford was simply phenomenal. From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting ambiance made us feel right at home. But it was the exceptional service and attention to detail that made this experience truly unforgettable. To start, we ordered the scallops which were cooked to perfection, and the flavors were expertly balanced. For our mains, we ordered the fillet steak and ribeye steak, and they were simply divine. Each cut was cooked to perfection and had a unique flavor profile that we absolutely loved. The creamy mash and tenderstem broccoli sides were the perfect accompaniment to our steaks, but the true standout were the Parmesan truffle fries, which were an absolute game-changer. To cap off the meal, we had the pleasure of celebrating my partner's birthday, and the staff went above and beyond to make it special. From the decorated table with balloons and a card to the birthday song sung by the singer that night, everything was perfect. Overall, the entire experience at Butcher and Grill was impeccable. The food was outstanding, the service was exceptional, and the attention to detail was second to none. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a top-notch steakhouse experience.

Came in for lunch and absolutely insane value for money, 3 courses for £19.95 and every course was delicious. Definitely will be come back, service was brilliant for Mandy. HIGHLY recommend!!!

When I arrived my cousin was having her 20th wedding anniversary I thought what a beautiful elegant place . But was so disappointed to say the least the main course was so disappointed when it was served . First came just the meat only in the plate we thot the chips are coming we waited until the meat was so cold chips came 20mins later didn’t enjoy the meal at all . We had to share 1 salt shaker among 10 people infact the lady who was serving us was waiting for us to finish using the salt shaker to take it to the next table . Service was disappointing overall. It was cold the heaters where not working , beautiful place wish the service could have been better

Disappointing food after very slow delivery. Food was cold on arrival having taken twice as long as advised on ordering. May have tasted better if it had been delivered quicker. Nothing special. Gloopy pasta and doughy pizza with very little in the way of toppings.

I found myself in this restaurant by chance as my plane was delayed and the restaurant is near Stansted airport, I ate very well, the steak was cooked very well, a very good side dish. But above all very kind and helpful waiters, clean and tidy place. If I return to London I will definitely stay here again. Super recommended.

Let me start of with the food presentation,it was very poor. They brought out the steaks on their own and when we finished the steaks they brought out the sides minutes later. Very poor. my family and i were invited and using the other room and it was so cold it was like I was in Iceland even though we were promised heating would be on, we could also smell the gas which is not great Definitely won't go there again and especially for how much it was. Manager was lovely but we were there to eat and dining experience ruined.

Went there for my parent’s anniversary. They brought our steaks first and the rest of the sides later after l was done eating my steak and the rest of the guests had to eat their meals cold as they were waiting for their sides . Food presentation was horrendous, my mother even tried to explain to the managers how this wasn’t good service, Mandy did try to help but the other manager gave us a silly excuse of how their kitchen was small, but then our problem was that we had booked this event a month in advance. We were told the garden room would have heating but on the day we were told that some heaters weren’t working leaving the guests to freeze.

I went for an anniversary dinner there on 01/04/23 and I have to say I’m was deeply disappointed by the care taken with their food and their lacklustre hosting. Upon sitting down I was struck upon an unpleasant smell that seemed to be gas and was told nothing could be done about this. The room we were in was not adequately heated and as a result half of the guests were almost freezing and coats had to be worn to help stay warm which as you can imagine, ruins the dining experience and tints the occasion with an informal feel. The food service was abysmal especially with the main, my steak was served by itself on a plate without a sense of pride taken into the presentation, no decoration or anything. My side of fries came almost 5 mins after my steak came, by which point my steak had gone stone cold. The hosts of the anniversary even had to individually apologise to every guest about the poor quality of food. After politely complaining we were told that the reason for slow service was the kitchen size and kitchen staff, but then why would they have taken on such an event without the proper personnel? Definitely wouldn’t recommend and be aware if you are thinking of planning an event for more than about 5 people. Below is a photo of my cold steak that I added my hot fries and sauce to… imagine the steak on the plate without anything, no sauce and no fries. £40 for that is appalling, the fries weren’t even fried to golden brown.

Not a very pleasant experience the garden room was cold having been told the heaters were working. We booked our tables on that understanding otherwise we would have gone elsewhere.The food presentation was appalling..bought out steak on a white plate, minutes later the sides..I had finished my steak by the time the sides came..basic food presentation should have been applied. I was embarrassed to say the least. Manager Mandy was kind but no apology for complaints made just excuse after excuses from rest of staff. I have used them before and will not be going there again after this experience. Sorry

The room was cold. Did not put all heating on as promised. Very lovely Food but it was not delivered appropriately.

Ambiance great. Food presentation poor. They could at least have put the steaks with some salad than only a piece of steak and sides were presented much later which just wasn't good enough. We complained and nothing done. It really spoilt our evening and dining experience. Much improvement required on food presentation.

Overall not bad however a pungent smell was apparent in the room we were sat in. Staff just said it was the ovens and left us to fend of the smell, which ruined our evening. Despite a freezing cold room with a gas lingering smell the door was decent. Wouldn’t recommend again.

Mediocre, expensive food coupled with poor delivery on at least the second occasion. I will not bother anymore as there are frankly better frozen pizzas available for which you don’t have to wait 1.5 hours.

The food is ok but they are very slow serving

First time in here as our train was cancelled we decided to try this restaurant next door to the station and it was really really good specially the ribeye steak, I can honestly say it was the best I have ever had we still taking about it few days later .. it’s sad we don’t live near

Medium (actually rare) rump was chewy and came lonely on a huge plate. Sides are a fiver extra.. rip off. 5 pound salad. No thanks. Let alone the cold holandaise sauce that would not leave the pot it was served in. Felt rushed by lingering staff, will not be eating here again…

Contrary to what most people are saying, I like the pizza - when it gets delivered. Don't use delivery services with these guys, unless you like having your money stolen and your pizza undelivered. Doesn't help that their customer service is awful. After constantly being told they would pay me back and constantly not being payed back, I gave up trying. I'm pretty sure that's a crime. Hope your business shuts down!

Ooops - not great and not a hint of humility how wrong they got it on this occasion …After a 20 minute wait to get an order in for a drink we tracked someone down who helped us out - then having ordered they completely forgot the starters and arrived with the steaks which to be fair looked good but we weren’t ready for them 🙄 - eventually when we got to the steaks the wrong sides arrived ( which later appeared on the bill) but by then we weren’t expecting much else to go right and just enjoyed the food and chat. To be fair the quality of the starter was very good, the steaks were fine. The manager who was doing her rounds asking if guests were enjoying themselves was oblivious to any order issues and seemed content that so long as the food was good that should do it - missing the point that the dining experience matters. Not convinced we will give them a second chance but having said that the choice in Stortford is not that great.

Wasn’t sure at first but soon this become my favourite restaurant in Bishops Stortford food and service was just spot on

Our steaks were rare when we asked for medium. The rump steak is advertised as "lean" on the menu...? And both of us have upset stomachs the day after eating there.

I visited in December and had a very good meal. Whilst I didn't go for the steak, my food was delicious and the steaks my friends had were very good. The building is very well set out and tastefully designed was was the case before B&G took over and it was The Villa. Service was very good, good value for money and a lovely ambiance. We are looking forward to visiting again.

I always liked your pizzas but a 4 hour delivery malarkey tonight just pushed me to the edge…. I get it is Xmas times but I run my own pub and fundamentally we do not take bookings we cannot fully service. We do not say we can serve you in 75 minutes and 4 hours later still no pizza… If you cannot service you shouldn’t take the booking. Historically I was very happy with both quality of food and pizza but tonight You may have just lost a customer. I very rarely leave negative reviews, I focus on the positives and support businesses (considering I am a fellow caterer). I also messaged your head office, as I believe management let this store down tonight. Revenue is vital these days, I get it, but not at this cost…

Had a delivery from them 29/11/22 it wasn’t at the time the app said it was going to be at my house which was Uber eats. Called the restaurant twice to track it down, they said it was doing drops before my house which is fine. Anyway my order came the pizza was cold. The dough was undercooked, the pepperoni was clearly cheap packet pepperoni thrown on it. It was quite honestly the worst pizza I have ever eaten. I wish I chose either Franca manca in bishops stortford or petrucci pizza in bishops stortford even wood grill in stansted pizza is miles better. I do not suggest this place to eat at all. It was horrendous! The thing learnt definitely order from where you know and you know it’s going to get taste good! Overpriced for basic pizza

Great meal - worth a visit! We were looking for something close to the Bishop Stratford service area for a decent meal and this didn’t disappoint. Picked from Google maps. Excellent pizzas which were clearly freshly prepared and cooked. Would definitely visit again if nearby (flying from Stansted).

We have just visited and we have never had such a good pizza! We went for my sons 16th birthday and he loved every detail. The food was sublime and the staff were very attentive and cordial. Perfect end to a perfect evening! Thank you

My family and I had a lovely meal at Dough&Co. We are vegetarians and vegans and they were very accommodating about changing menu items to fit our needs. The food is delicious and there are some delightful cocktails (I had the Hugo Spritz). The restaurant is in the centre of town on a little plaza and is decorated in a light and airy style. Best of all was our server who was very friendly and attentive. All in all a really good experience.

We had a yummy meal in here last night. We had the buffalo mozzarella salad and the dough triangles with garlic butter to start which was a great combination. For main course I had the pepperoni pizza and my partner had the cheesy penne pasta. Both were delicious. Usually I find pizza stodgy but the Dough & Co pizzas are really light and crispy. Service was excellent as well from the guy who served us. If you want pizza this is definitely the best place to go in Stortford and a great, central location too.

It’s really nice here - maybe doesn’t have the profile of other pizza places in BS? The building looks great, nice pizzas, nice doughnuts. Well worth supporting this one!

Such a mixed bag of a night… 8 of us booked a table at 630pm on a Saturday night. staff where friendly and quickly got us seated and our drinks bought over, unfortunately this is where the speedy service ended.. Half an hour wait for 4 shared starters of bruschetta, garlic bread and dough triangles Over at least an hours wait for 8 pizzas A further half an hour for 4 desserts Terrible service, it was bought to the managers attention who in fairness apologised and gave us 25% off and free desserts. It would appear that priority is given to the steady stream of delivery drivers?!? The only saving grace for the night is that the food was good! I would possibly go again, just not over a weekend!!
