Proove Pizza in East Hertfordshire

I very rarely write bad reviews but this pizza was awful, we didn't even finish it. The dough was so undercooked and soggy, the mushrooms were really chewy and difficult to bite into, and we thought the whole lot was so flavourless. £25 wasted. Very disappointed, there are plenty of much better pizza places in hertford

First time visiting this gem in Hertford and I highly recommend giving it a try. Venue: Excellent outside area, with brilliant chilled DJ creating a Balearic vibe. Perfect as it was a sunny afternoon. Starter: Arancino (yes this is correct way, 1 large rice ball) and immediately made my top 3 list for Arancini in the UK. My own homemade ones being top of the list. Main: Amazing wood fired pizza, cooked to perfection and the taste was superb. Service: Engaging and friendly. Top tip: If you ever find yourself in the unfortunate position of entering Pizza express in Hertford becasue someone in your group booked a table. Do them a favour by smacking them round the back of the head and walking the group two minutes round the corner to Proove, where Pizza is done properly for the same money, if not less.

Amazing authentic Neapolitan pizza. Great prices too.

Initially ignored when trying to get a table, once I managed to get some attention we sat at a dirty table and were ignored again numerous times. Eventually left and I don’t think they even noticed and certainly didn’t care.

We had a family lunch out as a treat and what a treat it was! The kids menu is a 3-course meal + drink, which is great value. The pizza dough was lovely and the toppings delicious. Lots of choice too. Service was great and attentive.

Hertford restaurant has terrible service!

One of the best pizzas of my life. The best neapolitan pizza in town and in a 10 miles radius. I got a meat arancino and chips as well. Arancino super crispy and delicious and the chips crispy as well. Just amazing food experience if somebody didn't still try this pizzeria restaurant in town is missing for sure a real taste of Italy. Really well done to the pizza chefs and all the staff that are always welcoming (specially to Robyn that took my takeaway order and Davide that made this amazing pizza).

Delicious food, with a ton of variety as well as gluten free options at a very reasonable price with helpful staff that didn't bother you too much and were extremely helpful. A decent amount of seating avaliable too, ranging from 2 to 4 to 6 seaters that I could see. We went on a Wednesday night at 6ish so it was quite quiet but it was well worth it and I'm glad we went in, plus you get 10% if you sign up to be a member which is free. Overall I'd highly reccomend them and can't wait to go again

Ordered pizzas online. Very disappointed with the quality. Bases were chewy and cold, toppings ok but uninspiring.

Ordered 4 lunch deals for collection for my office. Clear communication on the phone, collection time was spot on. Staff were all very friendly and the food was delicious. After we devoured the pizzas, one of the lads spotted the bottomless brunch offer and has put it forward for our next office outing. Would definitely recommend to others.

We really enjoyed our pizzas one of which was gluten free and vegan. The staff were knowledgable about the ingredients, friendly and approachable. If you have a special diet you can know all the ingredients in the food. My pizza was suitable for a FODMAP diet without making any adaptions to it’s recipe on the menu.

First time visit. Restaurant it lovely we were in a booth there was 6 of us. All staff really friendly and come over straightaway to take drink order. Pizza choices amazing (no pineapple daughter wasn’t happy 😂) lots of choice for veggies (2 people in our party) Lots of cocktails and cocktails to choose from xx The pizza prices were really reasonable. Pizzas were served quick and hot and delicious! I joined the proove loyalty when booked the table and we got 10% off so worth doing. As there were 6 we spent just over £100 and I received an email with a free pizza! So very happy and we definitely go back with my family for my free pizza.🍕 Thanks so much a fabulous restaurant to have in Hertford:

Really tasty food, I had a gluten free option and it was very good. So nice to be able to eat a pizza without it being an issue. Drink selection also very good. Will definitely go back!

This was a really good pizza, and we are coming back next week with friends. Everything about it was delicious, from the toppings to the dough. Much better than pizza express, dominoes and papa John's!!

I went there several times for lunch and for dinner and I had the opportunity to speak with the chefs and understand how passionate they are! I was pretty impressed with the quality of the food! Pizza dough was delicious and even the ingredients. It was cooked perfectly and I really appreciate the italian taste. The chefs are competent and make excellent products. I can say that this is a real Neapolitan pizza, maked with care and traditions’ knowledge. I also loved tiramisù, it was fantastic! Their tiramisu is the perfect dessert to end a special dinner. They have an interesting menu with vegan and gluten-free offers, starters, several pizzas and desserts and it means that everyone can enjoy their excellent food! The restaurant is nice, you can eat with your family or your friends in a cozy place and enjoy your food in a quiet area. During the summer it is possible to stay in the square in front of the restaurant and I believe it’s a good option!

I went there only once but the atmosphere i found was fantastic, the waiters are so sweet and professional. It looks like being back in Italy and i lived there for long. The Margherita and the arancini i got had the same taste of the one i get in Italy. I would recommend to everyone to go there and see for themselves. They are really fast with orders.

Visited PROOVE during a recent trip to Hertford. WOW! We enjoyed the lovely outdoor seating area and one of the best vegan menus we have ever seen! The food was delicious and at a great price point.

Absolutely incredible pizzas, the dough and sauce is otherworldly. We had the starter garlic balsamic bread and it was simply divine; soft, delicious, melt in your mouth. Check backs could have been quicker but we understand how busy it gets !! Couldn’t recommend enough, we will be returning asap whenever we’re in Hertford! Fantastic prices for the amazing quality xx will be spreading the word

A great mix of sharers and pizzas with friendly staff! A pair of us ordered a few of the sharers - one of the arancini balls, the bruschetta, the fries - and one of the Americana pizzas and split the lot. The food was fab - the arancini especially! The pizza as well was incredibly fresh and was delicious and the dough bites with garlic dip was delicious. We'll be back!

For starters, we ordered bruschetta and the burrata. We found both to be rather bland and the presentation sloppy. Both dishes could have been improved with a bit more care and attention to detail. On the bruschetta, we thought that the chopped tomatoes were too chunky and that the mozzarella wasn't a necessary addition. I needed to ask for more balsamic for the burrata. We shared the Pesto Royale pizza. The description sounded delicious, however, the result was again rather bland. Not enough pesto and the truffle flavour was not apparent. On a more positive note, The Barbershop cocktail bar was fabulous. Delicious cocktails, a great intimate atmosphere and great service. A special mention for Isaac who was friendly and welcoming.

Weird service, fries turned up with our starter. Never been to a restaurant where staff tell you they’re holding your main meal back from being served. Pizza finally arrived both a little burnt one extremely raw inside. Returned & asked for it to be cooked. A new pizza arrived, worse than the first and when I said it was too raw to be eaten I was told it was how the pizza I’d ordered was supposed to be served & I shouldn’t expect it to taste like pizza express. Didn’t stop to try dessert, left town with a fabulous takeaway from a different local restaurant.

As many have said the service here is very poor. 3 attempts to get mayonnaise for the chips. Mains came out about 15 minutes apart. Desserts were left sat there for 15 minutes. Staff just don’t care. Our main waitress left her shift without saying anything and then we had to go inside for anything else. Shame as the food was good (Canzone and a gluten free pizza). Stick to take away as this place just hasn’t got their service / process down at all.

We visited this resteraunt Sunday for my daughters boyfriends birthday, I am a coeliac, they do GF alternatives, lots of them, but if your a coeliac I do not recommend, its all well and good serving GF options, but obviously lots of contamination. When seated, I was told by the waitress that there is lots of flour in the Air in kitchen! Such a shame , but been poorly ever since

Good flavour, texture and price of pizza bread. Maybe we should have been a little more adventurous with the starter as the garlic bread was exactly same style as the pizza main but overall very nice meal out. Reasonable prices and friendly service. Wait times were ample especially considering it was a Saturday evening.

The service was absolutely diabolical! Our pizzas arrived and we hadn't received our starters; we tried to order more drinks and then ice cream and had to go up to the bar 6 times to remind them (we were warned off ordering anything other than ice cream as it would take a long time!!) and then they got it wrong. A real shame as the pizzas were delicious

I'm writing this review after having left the restaurant as I had waited 15 mins and noone had come out to serve me. It's a Thursday lunchtime, there were maybe 6 tables in the restaurant and 2 members of staff serving. I live in Hertford and have frequented Proove quite often as I think their pizza is the best, but I think that was my last time. I've been 4/5 times in the last 6 weeks, and the service has been awful every time. There's no point having the best pizza if a one course meal takes just under 2 hours (that's not an exaggeration, that happened to me 2 weeks ago). It doesn't seem to matter if it's quiet or busy, the staff just don't seem to know how to do service and everything takes forever. Orders get lost, staff members don't seem to know which tables are their responsibility so many just get forgotten about. It's a shame but they've lost my custom, I'll go elsewhere for my pizza

Worst excuse for a pizza I've ever attempted to consume.Ive eaten pizza all over Europe and Proove isn't any better than a cheap frozen one from Aldi.

Extremely disappointed with todays experience of Proove. As a regular customer on Deliveroo we attempted to try to dine in with our friends after recommending it so much. Unfortunately in our experience we could not possibly enjoy our experience and neither did our friends. Our food arrived an hour after ordering. Drinks only came to the table after 40minutes. We expected to at least get the tap water before. But unfortunately had our starters with no drinks. Luckily there was a shop just round the corner, so we got ourselves drinks from there as we couldn’t wait on such a hot sunny day. Once we were finished we had to ask twice for our bill, and ended up having to go inside to the bar to pay as we couldn’t wait any longer for someone to come to us. We all left very dissatisfied. As for food was great as always, just terrible service, which was experienced by all other customer who were waiting nearly 30minutes to get some ice for their drink.

Pizza is actually pretty good, but the service is atrocious - I’m not sure if it’s lack of training, that’s definitely part of it, but even an untrained person would typically have the general sense that they should try to seat people, bring all the drinks out without chasing, take food orders, bring the food together… it’s like they’ve woken up there by accident and have no idea what they are doing there. Please Proove Owners sort out your staff before it kills your restaurant and reputation!

I can not speak highly enough of this restaurant. I have been a few times now for both quick lunches, and for evening meals. The pizzas are amazing, with thin soft bases and great flavour, and the salads in the lunch deal are great too. We also have the difficult time eating out with our kids due to one having severe food allergies & anaphylaxis. It's incredibly rare that he eats out as we always take him packed lunches to be safe. However, the servers at Proove were so attentive and helpful in making sure we were aware of everything that goes in to their food. It gave us complete reassurance. They have the benefit of everything being made fresh, so they know everything about each ingredient, and were happy to show us. Both food and service combined, we can fault the place.

Didn't really enjoy my pizza, not very tasty with minimal topping, soggy bottom which seemed undercooked.

I'm not sure why, I think maybe from the branding, I was expecting a high end Pizza restaurant - but sadly once inside it looked and felt very far from that! From first arriving for our booked table standing around totally unacknowledged and feeling very unwelcoming, the service continued to be very average at best and especially to start off with, we had to keep chasing to order drinks and food, eventually speeding up but with one person's dish arriving way after everyone else's. The restaurant by the way was more than half empty and there seemed to be plenty of staff. The menu was very strange - at first glance it looked great with loads of options but it was so odd with virtually no vegetarian options at all which is crazy as pizza is one thing you can usually guarantee is good for veggies! I know parmesan isn't vegetarian as has rennet in (and not his fault at all as obviously a training thing, but the server kept saying the reason for lack of vegetarian dishes was due to gelatine!) but didn't help as it was so confusing as loads of dishes had no meat or parmesan but still didn't say vegetarian - even the Margherita! We ended up looking on line scanning the QR code but that didn't help as turned out to be a different menu totally! The food itself was ok but a bit disappointing and mainly just a bit meh! Anyway, we definitely don't plan on returning.

Amazing prices as the pizza is delicious. I would recommend the Italian fries but there is a huge range of options for sides. Always lovely service and a really nice atmosphere. My favourite place to go out to eat.

Genuinely the best pizza I’ve ever had in the UK - and I’ve had a lot of pizza! Authentic, tasty, fresh, just all round delicious! Would strongly reccomend, 10/10. P.s. the chocolate brownie was sensational too! :)

I recently visited Proove Pizza, and unfortunately, my experience left a lot to be desired. While the restaurant had a modern and stylish décor, the quality of the food and service was underwhelming. While the pizzas looked visually appealing, the taste and texture were lacking. The dough was overly thick and undercooked, with no crunch or texture to speak of. The toppings were also sparse and lacked flavor, leaving me feeling unsatisfied with my meal. To make matters worse, the service was disappointing. Despite the restaurant being fairly empty, it was difficult to get the staff's attention. Our orders were delayed, and when they finally arrived, they were lukewarm at best. Overall, I cannot recommend Proove Pizza. While the appearance of the pizzas may have been promising, the taste and texture were severely lacking. Add to that the disappointing service, and it's not a place I would visit again.

By far the greatest most authentic pizza in all of the UK (I dare say!). The taste is exquisite, the dough is so light and fluffy, and the staff and atmosphere are super friendly and relaxed. This is now our weekly regular because we simply crave this pizza and you will too!

I’m Italian, and I can say there is nothing Neapolitan about the pizza or the place. We walk in and are immediately struck by how disorganised the waiting staff is. Furthermore not one was Italian, let alone napulitan! The Aperol I ordered in all fairness was spot on. Not watered down at all, perfect amount of Aperol/Prosecco. However the starters were very mediocre. My buttata was not fresh and milky how it should be. The arancini were OKAY but once again not authenic and very anglicised, there was no meat filling in the middle but instead the ragù was mixed in with the rice. The service throughout the experience was non existent and they forgot to bring the jug of water we ordered at the start and the chips which we wanted with the pizza’s were brought at the very end of the meal! Finally, the pizza’s which at first glance look good and Neapolitan (il cornicione c’era), tasted raw, watery and smelled of peppers even though we ordered La Diavola which traditionally has dried chillies, these guys put fresh ones which meant that the sugo became watery and acid tasting. Overall very underwhelming experience, and very expensive one as well! Will not be recommending. 2 stars for the good Aperol and the Arrancini which were edible.

Wouldn’t bother going to the Hertford restaurant, unless you want to spend the entire night waiting for someone to come and serve you. The annoying thing is the pizza is really good so I would have returned but after the shocking service we received, I never will. The staff were chatting and hugging so definitely no rush and not understaffed.

Just ordered a takeaway. Hardly any cheese on garlic bread. Aubergine parmigiana is tiny for £9! Two spoons of it. Everything cold, nothing sliced despite it being a takeaway. Really cheap ham and ingredients on the pizza. Would have been better buying one from m&s. Side salad was great.

quite disappointed that after building up the family's hopes and preparing to order some pizzas to collect myself, I am told that no takeaway service is currently available because we don't have any boxes to put the pizzas in ! "our supplier has let us down". I will still try to order again in the future, however Hertford has several Italian takeaway options so to remain in contention, I think a business needs to be a bit sharper and make the effort to avoid shortages of materials.

Best pizza outside of Italy we have ever had!! If you're looking for an authentic pizza experience, I definitely recommend here. I had the gluten and dairy free pizza and it was incredible!! Service was fantastic as well - I ordered a brownie and without having to remind the waiter, he made sure it was gluten and dairy free. Great place.

Upsides: Tasty pizza perfectly cooked in the pizza oven. Dough was a delicious combination of soft with crunch. Good range of vegan and kids options. The angioletti with Nutella dessert was excellent. Tasty, crunchy and a generous serving size. One portion is enough for 2 people, I’d suggest. Downsides: Lack of hand soap in the mens’ toilet. Despite informing our server at the beginning of our visit the soap dispensers were still empty by the time we were leaving. Some of the unused cutlery was dirty and we had to send back a kids’ orange squash drink which had some dark sediment floating in it. The Carni pizza was let down by the meagre amount of toppings. Only 4 slices of pepperoni. The kids’ antipasti starter had way more meat than what was on the menu-topping Carni. Our vegan and egg allergy party members were delighted to have been offered a vegan chocolate brownie only to be told there was none.

It would be wrong of me to give this establishment any less than 5 stars. After reading the reviews on different websites, I was intrigued as to the quality and authenticity of the food. I can delightfully say that from today's experience of eating, it has surpassed expectations - even that being an understatement. I had ordered a Margarita Pizza as well as the Garlic Bread. Margarita Pizza: Flavourful - you could easily tell the quality of the ingredients used by the taste; the base sauce was full of taste and perfect for the assumingly neopolitan style the place sets out to achieve, the cheese was, if memory serves, a fully cow milk mozzarella which gave it a better texture and more consistent flavour than your standard mozzarella which would be comprised of buffalo milk as well as cow milk. Authentic - like aforementioned, this is one of the closest (if not the closest) style of pizza to what one could expect in the home country. People may assume by the thicker crusts of the pizza that it would be doughy and chewy, but no, it was light and full of flavour. I believe in Italy they often fold the pizza before eating as oppose to the standard slices you receive. It could certainly be done with the beautiful consistency of the dough. As for the Garlic Bread, although it's not a main, was equally as good as the Margarita Pizza. There was simply no fault to be mentioned. Outstanding. Will be ordering again, and I hope this review assists in the reputation and growth of this business.

Too much crust/bread on every dish, and bombolonis were hard, stale, cold and chewy. Not good.

Very sloppy wet pizza, served on a cold plate so pizza was cold very quickly. We had set lunch for under a tenner. All salads were obviously pre made and dressed in the morning so salad leaves were soggy and limp. Very disappointing 😞

Second visit and I would award ZERO stars if I could. Complete disregard for customer service, booked a table only to be ignored by the staff and then waited an hour for a pizza that never arrived. Watched as other tables received their orders and we did not. Staff incredulous that we just wanted to leave. AVOID at all costs. You have been warned.

Best pizza in Hertford, hands down ..!!

Can’t speak for their delivery service, but the dine-in experience is mixed. On the one hand food is lovely, the pizza is so nice and always tastes and looks amazing. On the other hand the service is very inconsistent. They seem to suffer from severe lack of staff, the pizzas generally come out quick enough, but actually getting attended especially for drinks is quite hard as they usually only have a couple staff for the entire service, it seems. Manager is nice enough, same goes for the staff themselves. Respectful and helpful but definitely need a few extra hands it seems.

The pizza is really good but the service is very inconsistent. There are times when I had very lovely pizza and quick service and there are times when my food arrived luke warm after a long wait. I often have to wait a long time to be served and even longer for the drink to arrive. This a shame because the food is good but the service really lets this place down.
