The best restaurants serving Italian food in England

The name of this restaurant is very misleading — it really shouldn’t be called Italian. The dishes are far from authentic. I’m quite sure there’s no Italian chef in the kitchen. The Margherita pizza was a disappointment: the sauce lacked flavor, and the cheese didn’t help. The Bolognese sauce was equally poor. Even the pineapple juice had a strange aftertaste. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone looking for real Italian food.

Nos pareció genial. Es bastante grande y puedo ver que si está muy ocupado podría haber un poco de retraso en el servicio. No fue tan rápido para nosotros, pero la comida era de los mejores y es realmente bastante razonable precio. Personalmente, fue el mejor atún que he probado en cualquier lugar. Sólo quiero compartir eso. Todo el mundo era feliz y nuestra camarera era genial. Sin duda volvería allí de nuevo. Pero parecía que realmente necesitas reservar. "tranquilo" almuerzo del martes y estaba bastante ocupado. Excelente ubicación. Si reservas intenta pedir una mesa de ventana. No sabíamos eso, pero disfrutamos de ella de todos modos.

Decent food for a reasonable price, service is a bit hectic though, all the servers constantly running round seeming very busy

Beautiful and cosy interior, incredibly good fresh food - I would personally recommend ravioli with shrimps, truffle and sea bass – and excellent service. Waiter Luca was extremely quick, friendly and not overwhelming - I couldn’t wish better.

Alex was very attentive and food arrived quickly and tasted beautiful

Very disappointed. Scoozi in Ormskirk was closed (wouldn’t let us order online and opening times on their website were updated), so ordered online at the Aintree one for collection instead as their opening hours said they were open today, let me place my order online and pay with Apple Pay. Turned up to collect my order and it was closed!!

Santa Maria has been on my list for a while, but I hadn't had chance to go until last weekend. The pizza was delicious, the staff were friendly and helpful, service was great. We sat in the window to watch the world go by. Will definitely be coming back again!

We went for dinner after visiting the Harry Potter studios and we arrived a little late but they served us without any problems, the staff was super friendly and the food was 10, the truth is that it was a great decision to choose it, if you pass through Watford don't hesitate to look for it.

It is a very welcoming and warm place. Food is nice but missing the bonus point that justifies a Michelin star. I am all about simplicity but creative simplicity. However, the staff was just horrible for such a place. They served the wrong dish, which is fine and can happen. However, you cannot just leave the other person's plate. I ate my dish cold because I waited for my husband's correct dish. Also, I chose a quite expensive glass of wine which was sadly served with cork residue. I immediately asked for a new glass, which was never served. Then, we asked for one sparkling and one still bottle of water. Usually, you get asked which one you prefer. It was not the case. I do not like the taste of sparkling water so just switched glasses with my husband, which the staff saw and was quite pissed about. All in all, the staff made it a frustrating experience.

The pasta pancetta carbonara was incredibly stodgy and dry, with barely any sauce. It was also cold. Would not order again.
