Fabulous afternoon Great bottomless menu fabulous cocktail selection we tried them all Great service waitress very attentive making sure we were happy and kept the drinks flowing The food was delicious portion size good I found the pasta to spicy and they exchanged it no problem at all For something else We arrived 1:30 service was excellent and they were in no rush for us to leave Very relaxed enjoyable afternoon Will be recommending to all my friends and would definitely revisit soon

Absolutely splendid meal served by an amazing waitress who I can’t remember her name too well but I believe it was Beshanka. She was very friendly and hardworking! The Canavaro pizza was delicious and the Tiramisu was the best I’ve had!

We came in to dine at 9.15pm and the waiter seemed very cold with us. She was smiling to others but we felt she was really bitter with us and we couldn't understand why, is it just because we had no booking. She wasn't happy when we chose a table we preferred but then allowed us to sit. Eventually we felt uncomfortable particularly when she replied to our request to wanting to order. We left to the restaurant next door and I don't think I'll be coming in again after this experience.

Booked table for my daughters 18th which was noted requested a booth table arrived to a very quiet restaurant empty tables everywhere sat us down in the middle of the restaurant so no attention taken to my request of a booth which where all empty, no mention of my daughters 18th either. food was standard pasta was hard then on top of everything charged a service charge on top of our bill of £11.00 now I didn’t realise I was in America to be charged hidden charges won’t be coming back again

On October 1st, 2024, I visited Gusto Newcastle with a friend for a walk-in booking at 8:15 p.m. We were seated by a young blonde hostess, but immediately noticed the table was both dirty and located in an uncomfortably cold area. I politely requested to move to another table, only to be told that it wasn’t possible and that moving would make us even colder. I then asked if the table could be cleaned, specifically preferring a seat away from the center of the restaurant. Unfortunately, the staff member ignored my request and walked away without addressing the issue. As someone with experience in the food industry, I was genuinely shocked by the lack of professionalism. If one of my own staff behaved this way, I would have no choice but to dismiss them from my business. After waiting 15 minutes without anyone coming to take our drink order, the same staff member finally returned. However, even after placing our order, we waited an additional 10-15 minutes with no drinks arriving. At this point, we decided to leave due to the unacceptable service. When I informed the waitress of our decision, her response was a dismissive “ok bye,” which left me stunned. Such unprofessionalism is not what I expect from a reputable chain. It’s disappointing to say that this experience has completely changed my perception of Gusto Newcastle. I used to enjoy dining here, but after this visit, I will not be returning and will be sharing this experience with my family and friends. As a family, we own the neighboring restaurant, Victors, where we take pride in offering exceptional service. I would strongly recommend visiting Victors instead for a better dining experience.

Finally an Italian restaurant that knows the ingredients of a carbonara ( I'll forgive the pancetta )

My grandson chose Gusto's for dinner. It was a pleasant walk alongside the Quayside to get to the restaurant. The bridges of Newcastle upon Tyne are so iconic. The Sage has always impressed with its size and shape. We had booked a table. We arrived a little early, this wasn't a problem. We were soon seated and our drinks order was taken. I can only describe the speed of service as leisurely. The drinks finally arrived after enquiring after them. Our food order was taken. Again the service was leisurely. The food did not disappoint. I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination. Food to me, if it looks appetising and it tastes as I believe it should, that is sufficient for me. The food was very tasty indeed. We were informed at the end of our meal, that a party of 26 were being catered for. Why should my experience be downgraded via leisurely service, because the restaurant is busy. It definitely had an effect on our meal. Maybe a word before we ordered would have been appropriate.

Starters were good. They were out of steak tartare. Ordered thr crab fettuccine instead. The plating was beautiful- pasta was cooked to perfection, but it tasted nothing like the description- no taste of lobster bisque or crab, just dill - sooooo much dill. I should have just bought a dill plant and had that for dinner. Also, wanted a glass of wine but waiter never came back to ask or see how the meal was.

Certainly wouldn't recommend. Visited a few times several years ago and it was a great experience, a real shame how it has dropped standards. It took over 50 mins to deliver two pizzas and a lasagne (a table across from us arrived much later and got their food sooner). Food was OK, but not the most generous I've seen in terms of quantity, especially on the pizzas. The table light was not working, despite pointing this out we were not moved to another table despite several being available, so we were in a dimly lit area. To top it all, we were charged for a drink we did not order, but it took 3 members of staff and more than 5 mins before it was accepted that I was right and stopped being accused of lying. The 12% service charge was rubbing salt in the wounds, but I let it slide. I couldn't locate my Gusto membership so was unable to get the discount I expected, and the restaurant was either unable to search for me or unwilling to do so. All in all, an experience I will not be looking to repeat at this Gusto or any other.

Sunday evening post Great North Run for relaxing meal. Our server, Alex, was knowledgeable and friendly. Great menu with plenty of tasty looking options. Our choices were delicious. Well cooked and nicely presented. Desserts likewise. Excellent wind down after the run.

I was really looking forward to coming this evening as we have been into the Liverpool Gusto many times and it has always been good. Tonight though at this restaurant it was awful. Shocking food and very very slow service! Had to send the calamari back as it was like rubber, the lasagne at best was a Tesco ready meal. The seafood risotto was dry, very bland and the prawns were over cooked. The only nice thing were the dough balls which you can’t really get wrong.

Gusto is set by the quayside in Newcastle close to Malmaison Hotel. We were seated upstairs overlooking the front of the restaurant. It took rather a long time to have our order taken, staff seemed to just ignore us!! When we were eventually asked for our order, the staff seemed more attentive. The starter was very nice. My husband had a really nice seafood risotto which he said was delicious. I had Scallops in a seafood sauce which was more like a thick salty soup. Wasn’t that keen. The dessert was a mix of sorbet and ice cream which was lovely. A nice setting but music a bit loud.

Went for a family meal on a Sunday. Food was average, not many people in and we spent over £700 between 12 which was expensive and then to top it all I received a parking fine for waiting outside for my 92 year old Mother In Law who can hardly walk. Going to avoid this place in future. Why are there no notices on the Road to let people know??

A friend and I met for a reunion today at lunchtime. We had olives, scallops with a side order of fries and I had ravioli with a tomato salad. So good so far and very delicious.we then shared a pudding with a coffee for me. Now I had a beer and my friend had two glasses of wine……£100 while we enjoyed what we had I didn’t think we had £100’s worth. The two glasses of wine were £22. That is extremely expensive so that’s why the low score. The service was excellent and the food tremendous but there’s too much choice in Newcastle so we probably won’t go again. Pity.

I had food poisoning from a crab linguine meal at this restaurant and after bringing this to the food alert (afp) people still await the outcome.. cannot fault the service but given how ill i became i would have expected a reply or contact as a result of the investigation .. never again

Not great ..we ordered wine to have with our mains but didn't receive it until we had finished our mains had to sit for a good while until out plates were taken away everything just took forever..such a shame

We came for a bottomless brunch. The staff have done nothing but make sure the service was first class! Our server was Mia and although there was 19 of us, it never phased her once! She always served us with a smile and made sure our drinks and food were ok! She was so pleasant with our group as some place you go to they don't give attention to customer service. A shout out to our other server who was so lovely too Lauren! We will 100% be back and bringing other group to a lovely brunch that you guys offer. Drinks were beautiful and the food was lovely and very filling. Very worth the money.staff are a credit to the place!!!

Great meal! The chateaubriand was wonderful, cooked perfectly and our waiter Alex was brilliant. He brought water and chicken for our puppy and made sure our children had everything they wanted. He even brought my daughter a blanket when she was a bit chilly. Wonderful food and experience.

The food is delicious, the risotto seafood is amazing, the pasta is regular arrabbiata, the fish is good. Half of their dessert contains alcohol. I was excited about the creme brûlée, but unfortunately it still contains alcohol. The atmosphere in general was nice, but the place was a little crowded and the service was slow, so we kept trying to get there. Can I go back if it's not crowded?

Charlotte was the perfect host and made the whole bottomless brunch experience excellent.Highly recommended.

Poor service waited for drinks 30 mins only bottled beer 5 weeks waiting for draught!!! I think they are running the bottles down and changing supplier. We have eaten in Gusto sporadically for the last 4 years they have new staff and poor service we will probably give it a miss from now on.

The highlight was the table service from Shauna - a really helpful and charming waitress. The food was also delicious, beautifully-cooked (I had duck breast) with a lovely fresh side of vegetables - recommended by Shauna, and a nice glass of Italian white wine, also her recommendation.

Shauna was a wonderful waitress, we had a lovely meal and it was a truly brilliant celebration. Thanks Shauna! We will be sure to come again soon!

My friend was visiting the area and he suggested that we eat here. I suggested Unos a more traditional Italian, also on the Quayside but I thought we'd give it a go. Quite simply, the worst pizza I've ever had and I've had plenty, trust me. I couldn't decide between the Spaghetti Bolognaise or should I say, their own 3 meat Ragu as they call it, or their version of a meat feast pizza. I opted for the pizza as it included the 3 meat Ragu. Let's just say, if I had chosen the Spag Bol then it would have probably been worse than the pizza. My friend had the Lassgne which looked nice and I asked him if he wanted some of the pizza. After he ate it, without knowing my thoughts, I asked for his opinion and he said the same 'bland and tasteless '. Sadly, I had to take a personal call which curtailed our evening so didn't have the time to express my dissatisfaction. On the plus side, nice venue, good background music and the Italian beer was gorgeous but you don't go there for the beer. Very disappointing and definitely back to Unos next time.
