Excellent menu and fantastic service, the perfect start to a holiday

Not bad for an airport restaurant but way overpriced for what you are served.

Bastante decepcionado ya que el menú había cambiado de las últimas veces que mi hija y yo hemos visitado. El personal era encantador, amable y servicial, pero el menú (la parte principal) decepcionó la noche.

I visited Fratellos on Thursday afternoon October 27th with my 80 year old mother. We were greeted by a lovely lady who let us pick where we sat. Having sat down within a few minutes we had a very pleasant waitress called Devon come over to take our order for drinks and food. We both shared a garlic bread with tomato which was tasty and for the main course my mother opted for the shepherds pie and I opted for the chicken and chirisio pasta. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The experience was excellent from start to finish. Thank you to all at Fratellos.

A window seat for two but the seats are a bit too far from the table. The Chicken and Chorizo pasta was excellent and I will definitely have it again. My husband had the Calzone which maybe could have had the crust cooked a bit more and the Napoli sauce needed more taste but still pleasant.

Buena comida y servicio. Buena elección de comida disponible. Restaurante dentro del Hilton en el aeropuerto de Newcastle. Zonas de estar privadas y cómodas. La comida estaba bien presentada y muy buena. El personal era muy agradable y atento. No se puede pedir más, excelente servicio.

La visita anterior cuando se abrió por primera vez fue genial, esta vez no fue nada bueno. Sentado en una cabina que era pequeña, así que se trasladó a una mesa cerca de la zona de desayuno, no muy bien, pero nos dijeron que no había otros, a pesar de que durante toda la noche un montón de mesas vacías. El problema principal era la comida en sí, los nachos eran solo un tazón de los nachos con dos cucharas de crema agria, un puñado de jalapeños, un chorrito de salsa, nada de queso, el pan de ajo era claramente una base de pizza congelada, las papas fritas de halloumi eran agradables! Entonces el schnitzel de pollo era horrible, seco y gomoso y sin sabor, un huevo encima duro sobrecocido, un chorrito de alcaparras, un puñado de berros (o algo similar) y papas fritas, el bistec era igual de pobre. El servicio estaba bien, ¿está bien. No es barato y es la única opción si te alojas en el hotel, pero es pobre y los estándares necesitan elevarse, me quedaría pospuesto si este restaurante sigue allí y no mejora significativamente!

Afternoon tea. Was really lovely. Scones were perfect. Plenty of jam cream and tea. What makes a difference is always the lovely staff.

Nice meal, no complaints. Only negative that might catch you out is there is now a service charge added, and the bill comes with a section to add a tip also, did not like this at all to be honest. Its up the individual to tip we are not in America.

Lovely meal, excellent friendly,helpful staff, quick service. Found our waiter Luke, very efficient, friendly and knowledgeable. Brilliant evening good start to our holidays

We've been to Fratello's a few times now, generally the day before jetting off on our hols. We feel as though it had gone downhill the last year or so and even started to look elsewhere for eating out. However, there seems to have been a change as the venue is back on form and now seems to offer more choices in pasta again. The featherblade and the milanese are very worth mentioning as they were very nice indeed!

The food was far too salty, especially the seabass. The chef was barking out food orders at a ridiculously high volume, it totally spoiled the ambience in the restaurant, and this was despite us sitting a long way from the kitchen . Whether he thinks he is Gordon Ramsey or not, it wasn’t appropriate behaviour and should be addressed. We have had far nicer experiences in this restaurant in the past but have decided not to return in the future.

Food was good, service was good initially, but a little slower later on during the meal.

Great service and good Italian food. Not the cheapest but handy when you’re staying at Newcastle Airport

We had a wonderful night in this restaurant before our flight the next morning. We were celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary. Our waitress, Abbie, couldn’t do enough for us. Our first drinks were complimentary to toast our anniversary! We both had a 3 course dinner and the food was cooked to perfection. Abbie attended to us all evening, making sure our food arrived on time and we were never without a drink! She obviously enjoys her job which shows in the high level of customer service we received from her. We hope she will be there next time we fly, maybe promoted to manager!!! Overall a very pleasing experience and a fantastic start to no our holiday 😊😊😊

Hemos comido aquí un montón de veces y realmente lo hemos disfrutado esta vez decidimos tener la cerveza rebozada bocadillo de dedos de pescado ya que no teníamos mucho hambre. después de haber comido un montón de veces tanto en el restaurante y bar lo que nos dieron fue una verdadera sorpresa congelado dedos de pescado muy decepcionados por el precio que pagamos. La publicidad falsa no lo recomendaría. De todos modos no es un adulto. A los niños les encantaría.

Menu was poor. Service was not good. I asked for a bottle of wine which when I tasted I didn’t like. I got an alternative but no new glass. No one asked how the meal was

Realmente no espero demasiado de los restaurantes en los hoteles, pero me sorprendió gratamente mi experiencia aquí. El personal era acogedor y amable. El servicio fue muy rápido. Mis dos platos eran absolutamente deliciosos. Mención especial a Luke, mi camarero. Era atento, atractivo y eficiente. ¡Feliz de volver!

The pasta was very salty and maybe should be considered as a starter dish but overall we enjoyed our meal

Much improved from the last visit. Food was very good and the service much more customer focussed. The reintroduction of pasta dishes is a welcome improvement.

Errore mio ho voluto la pizza e diciamo che non era malaccio ,ma per pizza intendo qualcosa di diverso. Probabilmente dovevo prendere altri piatti che alla vista mi sono sembrati molto più appetitosi. Ottimo il servizio e bello e tranquillo il locale.

We came here last year before out holiday , the food was amazing and menu great . Came here again before holiday this year and what a difference the menu is so limited and no Italian at all , given a separate pasta menu with 4 choices of pasta , me and my husband both choose one of the pastas they were like bowls of soup so much sauce and so salty . My daughter had a pizza which she left said hardly any cheese. We did have dessert which we enjoyed . We paid the bill and the service charge which was included as the waiting staff were brilliant . We won’t return such a shame as it was amazing Italian why change things that work

New menu is terrible, we used to love the Italian food served here. Now it has no pasta dishes and only 3 pizza options. Such a shame

Came here before a flight, has to be one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to the food was amazing. Staff were really friendly and offered to look after our bags while we dined 10/10. Would highly recommend not to be missed

We stayed at the Doubletree prior to an early morning flight and had dinner at this hotel restaurant. We were very impressed at the service and quality of our meal. In fact my flat iron steak was absolutely perfect. Hats off to the chef and his staff as well as the staff front of house.

Lovely food. Surprised service charge of 12.5% now being added to the bill. Disappointing!

Excellent service and lovely food. We had an issue with our bill on a previous visit (charged £14.50 for a garlic bread starter) but after contacting Karen, our second visit was faultless. Thank you!

Amazing food!!! We had beetroot hummus, chicken skewers and the most amazing haddock and goats cheese risotto !!!!! Lovely ambience and great service although they had run out of almost all their wine selection. Back in 3 weeks time !

The food and service were both very good. We enjoyed excellent vegetarian food. However the staff were talking to each other across the restaurant for all to hear and kitchen staff were equally as loud in discussing what they were doing and using noisy kitchen equipment.

Visited Fratellos at Doubletree by Hilton, Newcastle airport. Pizza and pasta were lovely. Staff and service excellent. We will definitely be back.

We have dined here on a number of occasions but the menu has now changed offering limited pasta dishes which does not work

My steak was salty and overcooked .I sent it back.My husband and son had carbonara and it was ok but nothing special

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect here with it having a captive clientele - there’s no where else really around. Glad to say I was wrong. The food was a great quality. Very tartans the staff were so attentive. I would definitely recommend

Completely enjoyed our meal tonight before our flight.We both had two courses and the food was beautiful with great service from the staff, thoroughly recommend.

Fratello’s is the restaurant attached to the Doubletree by Hilton hotel a few minutes walk away from the Airport terminal building. We were staying at the hotel prior to our flight so experienced both breakfast and dinner. We had pre booked a table for dinner which proved to be a good move as the hotel was very busy. Having dined here on previous occasions, we knew we would enjoy the food on offer. There is a varied menu including pizzas, risotto and several other dishes. The pork dish was particularly good and the fish and chips never fails to please. Service was very good indeed and we didn’t have to wait very long for our food despite a full restaurant. Prices were reasonable given this is an airport based restaurant. Breakfast was very good with a wide range of foods on offer buffet style. Cereals, including gluten free, fried food, cold meats and cheeses, fresh fruit, yoghurts as well as a variety of breads and pastries…enough to set you up for a long flight! Our only criticism was that there didn’t seem to be enough( staff. Highly recommended

It is a lovely place to drink alone or in company. They have all the drinks you want, the beer is fantastic. You can also taste some exquisite dishes. If you are in Newcastle this is the place. Very nice atmosphere and the service is spectacular.

Excellent service, good very good , and reasonably priced. Our waiter Abdul was very polite and courteous, the added service charge was however uncalled for, if this goes direct to the staff fair enough, I removed and left cash tip

Not happy about over £8 added for service charge this has never happened at this restaurant we prefer to tip the waitress on the quality of there performance not for them to presume they given a good service

Thought this restaurant might have been better based upon the premium prices on offer. Prawns in cocktail were so small and had no taste apart from water, mussels in main course were tiny. Waited an hour and a half for the starter as the Chef had lost the ticket and the staff so inexperienced never even noticed. Calzone was actually ok but very salty and the Hand Cut Chips were frozen chips and under cooked as well. Overall average and won't be going back again.

Fantastically expensive meal. Was expecting the Asian duck salad to be spicy: it was ok but very bland. What made up for disappointing main course was the absolutely delicious white chocolate mousse and ice cream.

Menu has changed since my last visit really disappointing for an Italian restaurant no pasta dishes

Cosy spot to have a delicios home made pizza. All very tasty, atmospere good.

New menu was much appreciated. Unfortunately, the ratio of protein to everything else is wrong. The piece of belly pork was so small it was lost under the beans. The bread board for £9 was 6 pieces of bread three of which was stale focaccia. Sad to say it is an expensive restaurant based in a hotel at an airport. captive customers being overcharged.

Food ok abit pricey no pasta at all on the menu considering it’s a Italian restaurant, limited menu in my opinion was better before , got charged for 2 bottles of wine when only had 1 and watch out for service charge nearly £14 but asked to remove it

Love fratellos and we were very impressed by the lovely new menu!! Beetroot hummus chicken skewers and pizza were all fantastic.....however it was chaotic and slow. It was very obvious room service the bar and the restaurant were all too much for the chef and his team. Still love it though and we will see you soon.

Very pleasant atmosphere but a bit cold and draughty where we were sitting near a window. Good pizza as usual.

Dinner while waiting for the plane… delicious Shetland mussels and spicy tagliatelle. Very noisy restaurant with panels that vibrate with the air conditioning…

Excellent food and outstanding staff. I unknowingly handed an extra £20 note in the cash when paying. The young lady caught me leaving to hand it back. Excellent and honest staff.

Very convenient to dine within hotel building. We did book ahead and glad we did as the restaurant was busy. Despite being so busy, staff were very efficient and respectful (felt like a customer), seating us promptly, taking our order and serving food and drinks within an excellent timeframe. Food really hot and tasty - will visit again. Thanks to all the team involved - chefs and front of house staff.

Really delicious food! I had so many King Prawns in my dish and that’s a rarity normally!

Always the start of our holiday, staying at Doubletree and eating in fratello, lovely food and staff brilliant. We have been as a couple and part of a family and always good service. We love it here and hopefully returning soon

Excellent restaurant, our second visit. We shared Italian bread and mixed olives for starters. I opted for the lasagna for main course which was excellent. Good reasonably priced, good selection alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks.

A great place to eat the night before our flight. Mum has mobility problems but the staff were very helpful and understanding. Mushrooms were added to a Margarita pizza without any hassle and Mum was pleased.

Very slow restocking of buffet in fact I had to request bacon and yoghurt. Scrambled egg seemed to have been there a long time. Strange system in that you order fried eggs etc whilst serving yourself to the buffet. I had finished my buffet selection eating before the eggs arrived. Management should try it themselves and develop a better system. The local Premier Inn breakfast is far better.

Food is tasty just wish they would introduce some more starters very limited menu

The choice of food is poor unless you like pizza or burgers. We ordered chicken , which our waiter said came with chunky fries and side salad. It arrived as a chicken burger with skinny fries. Thankfully it was sorted pretty quickly. My avocado salad was £12.50 , outrageous price for a handful of salad leaves, half an avocado, tinned peppers and chick peas and seeds . When I paid the bill the waiter asked "How was the food?" When I said "Pretty average " he didn't even bother to find out more. My email from the hotel said " There's no need to leave the hotel for a high quality dining experience " It's not what we experienced.

Arrived when given menu had been reduced from that online. Ordered half portion of pasta for 1 of remains however was charged full price. Not able to eat main due to amount of garlic

Great staff, wonderful people, everything is excellent.

Myself, husband and daughter dined here on Saturday December 16th. It was my husband's 50th birthday, I requested a quiet booth on booking and we were sat at a lovely, quiet, large booth which I was very happy with. Food was lovely. I'm gluten and dairy free and there were options for me, the waitress made a note of my intolerances to give to the chef. All in all, a lovely night out. I also thought the food and drinks were good value for money.

Didn't start good as they sat us in possibly the coldest table in the restaurant then when they moved us it took 20-25 minutes to take even the drinks order!! The food was good however if we weren't there because we had an early flight we probably would have walked out.

Very good food and excellent service. Used a voucher - which made it even better - but even without it would still have been good value. Have been several times and never disappointed.

We had the Calzone, it was great. I now won't be able to eat anything else until at least tomorrow. Food was lovely, nice atmosphere, and a comfy place to share a meal with your dad. If I'm down Newcastle way again I'd definitely think about coming back here.

We had a really nice meal here, before we jetted off She had the pasta which had loads of spicy sausage through it, I had a sirloin steak and it was seriously very good, and very little fat, perfectly cooked and a lovely pepper corn sauce Staff were attentive and not in your face, also very good Overall a very nice night

Everything was a solid 4 and we enjoyed our meal. Mix up somewhere in the kitchen meant we didn't get out food for 1 hour which isnt really acceptable. Waiter Zac did his best to rectify and went some way to make up for it.

The food is great but the service is lackluster. No one looks as if the care. While tables chairs and floors are clean don't look anywhere else as you will see the dust build up. Had to reorder wine 3 times tonight as twice they did not have what was requested. Then we got a bottle only to find it warm. Turned out the only bottle, so sent it back and eventually got another option. No real apologies or explanation and wine was dumped at the side of the table. Very poor service that should be a bit more upmarket.

Fantastic food. Waitress was helpful and bubbly. Kept checking we were ok and would stop for a quick chat if she was able to.

We we’re staying at the hotel so decided to eat at fratellos . Service and food, we’ve had steaks were excellent.

Everything about the experience was fine apart from the mussels. The broth they were cooked in was far to salty, we informed the waiter and his reply was “oh “ nothing else to say really!
