Went here for a family meal and after not visiting for over a year the place has been recently decorated - looking very fresh! The food was really nice, big portions and very reasonably priced. The service was also great! Will definitely go back and also highly recommended.

Such a lovely place, since it's refurbishment. Food was lovely, only niggle is that, it's still slightly cold near the bar area.

Great please to grab a Sunday roast, three course meal for £12.95 such a bargain and great quality food ! The servers were really welcoming and accommodating to everything we wanted. Fast service and didn’t even need to book a table for a Sunday dinner.

Had some time to kill after dropping my daughter at drama class. Was hungry so popped in on the off chance they were open. I was early but they let my wait inside. Lush staff who were dead friendly and got a 3 course meal for £12.95 which was filling and tasty. Highly recommended xx

Decent for a cheap meal, not much atmosphere as it was very quiet. My husband got a steak which he said tasted fine, I got a lasagne I'd give that a 4/10 the sauce tasted like heinz tomato soup, nothing like a tomato base for a Italian pasta dish, honestly couldn't taste any mince either, I was fed and it wasn't horrific. The place itself is set out a little strange, kind of feels like you're in someone's living room.... Service was okay, although a little slow at times due to the delivery drivers coming and going I felt like we were left a little bit. Would I go back? Maybe with the kids for a cheap deal, but that's it.

Food arrived. Some of tempura prawns were only batter. Carbonara exploded in the bag. Not good

Lovely little Italian with great menu, including half and half pizza and pasta. All our food was delicious and plentiful. Drinks were reasonably priced too ... So not sure why other posts complain about this. Loves it. Will definitely be back.

Did not attend the restaurant but ordered online and it was absolutely shocking, when you pay £40 for food and don't get what you have ordered is disgusting and quite frankly unacceptable. Not a big fan of the carbonara either, I thought it was very bland and tasteless and you think being a pasta place you would know how to cook one. Will definitely never attend a restaurant of any of them due to completely messing up my order that I expect to get after paying so much money for.

Very nice gluten free food. THE best Gluten Free Garlic Bread with Cheese we have ever eaten. Absolutely perfect. Only slight grumble is the lack of gluten free chips. I would happily drop an air fryer off just to make GF chips. Staff are always lovely. Not the busiest place but maybe just the days we go as they're still going strong. Good for take away too via deliveroo or whatever. No option for GF pizza but call ahead and they sort it out for you no problem.

Twice I have ordered tomato garlic bread and on both occasions I have received the wrong garlic bread. I do like your food but you need to get the orders right I received a plain garlic bread tonight which I could eat so won’t ask for a refund the last time was a cheese one and it went in the bin!

We visited this restaurant with our young daughter recently, for dinner. My husband and I shared a pizza and a side of chips, and our daughter had a bowl of pasta from the children’s menu. We all drank cordial and water, and were astonished that the bill came to over £30 for one main course and one children’s meal. When we looked at the breakdown, the prices for the drinks were simply ridiculous - £3.70 for a blackcurrant and soda is disgraceful. The pizza was pretty tasty, but we wouldn’t return simply due to how much the restaurant is trying to rip customers off with the drinks prices.

Bruschetta normally comes with 3 slices of bread, only 2 this time. Ordered garlic bread with tomato, no tomato!

Went for the lunch special, the bruschetta was mushy as if it had been mixed and sat in the fridge definitely not fresh. Was more shocked when the bill arrived to see it was £3.20 for a pint of black current and water, and £2.10 for a child’s small black current and water. Not the lunch special I was expecting. The pasta dishes were ok but not great.

Chix Kiev, veg plus real chips all perfect as per usual.

Nice small restaurant that has a nice atmosphere. However, lots of the pizzas were excluded from the happy hour deal. All the pizzas were undercooked and pepperoni pizza too hot with dry crushed chilli on the top. Nice wine though and full when we left.

disgusting!! paid £50 missing food, brushetta topping was like tinned tomatoes and the chicken was like slop on a plate. I eat in at oli and Joe's Westerhope at least once a month and love it so don't understand why it was so awful! worst experience for food ever

It's cold (the owner doesn't use a heater at all) and dark as prison chamber. The personal was rude and unfriendly. To get into you have to climb 2 stairs.

Best Oli and Joe's in the North East. Bravo.

Absolutely horrendous service. We ordered on deliveroo, because there were not many other gluten free options. I ordered a half pizza, half pasta, and ticked the option that was to make the half pizza AND half pasta gluten free. Obviously, I did not want half to be gluten free and half not. The restaurant did not call us to confirm that we had only ordered half of this gluten free, and made the pizza fully gluten. I could not eat it, and they did not call in advance to confirm - they just left a barely legible note on the pasta. The carbonara was not good, and I could not eat it as due to the pizza, I did not believe that it was gluten free. When someone in my group tried it, they said it was just cream on pasta and had a distinct lack of ham. The food was not the best, and the issues with the gluten free made me uncomfortable. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE IF YOU ARE GLUTEN FREE. When we called the restaurant to resolve the issue, they said they couldn't and wouldn't do anything, and blamed deliveroo for the issue. They, not once, suggested sending us the correct and gluten free pizza. The lady on the end of the phone was very rude and abrasive, and accused us of shouting at her when we did not. She was thoroughly unhelpful, and did not resolve any of the issues. I had heard good things before this, but we will never be ordering from this place again. Please, do not order from here if you have any issues with allergens, and if you want polite service on the end of the phone. If I could rate them zero stars I would.

It’s a great experience to be here and have a lunch. It is highly recommended this place and great prices will be returning. Service was excellent, the waitress always smiling and nice to us, even we were a group of people. Food was absolutely lovely. It’s really good in overall.

We ate the weekday set lunch menu, and added spicy calamari. We enjoyed the food, the quiet atmosphere, and service. It was all wonderful.

We had really high hopes for the place after reading reviews but sadly this turned out to be the worst Italians we’ve ever had. So starters I had a prawn cocktail and it was very spicy? I don’t mind spicy food but I don’t think a prawn salad should be spicy. Chilli powder used maybe?. My dad had the ‘minestrone’ and said it didn’t taste anything like minestrone it was just a watery tomato with a little kick. My sister had the garlic mushrooms on toast however it came as just garlic butter mushroom soup and the mushrooms were… well unappetising. So mains I got the spaghetti Joe or Oli maybe which was actually really nice. My sister got the spaghetti meatballs and she says they were the worst tasting meatballs ever, they were also very soft and gooey and just were balls of mush. My dad had the spaghetti amatricano I think it was called and I understand it’s meant to be spicy however it was inedible it was that spicy. He even gave most of the chillis to me and couldn’t eat it (he usually orders a Madras or Phal at the Indians and doesn’t even flinch), so for a pasta dish to be that spicy it must of been very hot! My mam said her calzone filling was okay but the outside was absolutely rock hard and thick. Garlic bread was nice though! The cocktails (sex on the beach) were pretty awful for me however my dad enjoyed them. Shout-out to Gabrielle he was amazing the whole time, very attentive and kept on top of everything even though he seemed rushed off his feet being the only one on the floor bless him. Also my poor dad has been up all through the night and this morning very ill. It’s a 2/10 for me (my pasta was nice) and sadly won’t be returning. Pics to follow.

Food really lovely. Reasonably priced. V small venue this and not much atmosphere

I'd like to score higher, but I'm afraid I can't. The staff are warm and friendly, restaurant itself is tidy enough, nothing fancy. The food however is just not great, some odd choices made in how to cook it and ingredients used e.g. calzone had meatballs allegedly, however they were green, did not have the taste or texture of meat either, and appeared to be more like stuffing balls. Other dishes rely waaay too heavily on paprika, and over powered the rest of the ingredients. Fillet steak was cooked well though and tasted great. Unless you are going for the very reasonable meal offers they have on, I couldn't justify spending as much on the regular menu prices.

No concept of time we waited 45 mins after our booking time, never got ordered until 9 no apologies food was average won’t be going back !!

First time and not the last,so friendly and the food was delicious...Service was just right,food was served all at same time(10 if us) ...

This is a lovely little hide away, with fantastic staff. We walked in and were welcomed like family. The food was awesome, the potato skins are very more-ish and the tiramisu will live on only my most happy dreams. You must try this place, you won't regret it!

Nice little place with some amazing Pizzas

1st time at this Ollie and Joe's and the service was OK polite staff but lacking some knowledge of the drinks they served.I asked what brand lemonade they had and server no know went off to get im guessing manager and he just said draft ...tried to explain I don't like certain brand and he came back with yes it has sweetners in it...I let it go and went for a pre bottled drink...as neither of them had any idea of what I was asking about...food served hot and nice....but glad I have no allergies as the staff would have no idea and putting on an Italian accent doesn't help....I know he spoke plain English as I heard him over at the bar. ..Will use another O&J next time our Preference is Prudhoe....

Staff were very friendly. This is a cosy place to eat. The desserts were OK but the cheesecake didn't taste home made. We had veg lasagne which was pleasant but slightly sloppy. Would have benefited from more cheese and less liquid I think. From other reviews I gather the restaurant has signature dishes but we are veggie so were limited..

All of this for £ 6.95? This is a hidden gem for sure. Penne arrabbiata wasn't exactly real Italian penne arrabbiata but I didn't mind it because it was still pretty good. The soup was delicious. Ice cream was okay, but all this together was great. Thank you guys!

Ordered food through Deliveroo. Pizza was edible (just…made with cheddar not mozzarella, meaning the pizza tasted sweet which is rather disgusting). The garlic bread is clearly so cheap, didn’t even taste like garlic and again was sweet. Chips…well they weren’t even a food object…clearly made in old dirty fat/oil. They were soft and absolutely disgusting. The majority of the food went in the bin. This place should be ashamed of itself calling itself italian. Absolutely disgraceful.
