Had a fantastic birthday dinner, really friendly staff and food was amazing.

Very bland food, costs too much and we absolutely hate service charges its so rude. It's like you think, we are already overcharging, they might as well pay the service charge too. Only went as part of a group for a birthday, wouldn't normally do these celebrity restaurants as they're all bang average and won't be here in 5 or 10 years time.

My wife and I were excited to go to Gino’s restaurant, particularly having seen all the 5 star reviews, but were sadly left a little underwhelmed by the whole experience. We had the pork belly and ribeye, which were ok. Steak was a bit chewy, not what you typically expect for ribeye. But it was the service that swayed me to write this review. It was great to begin with the waitresses taking great care of us. Once we were served our dinner we appeared to have been swapped over to the waiter, who I can only describe as being like a petulant teenager. Having taken our plates almost as we were eating, we were left waiting for the desert menu. A waitress eventually brought it over but we were left an age again before our order was taken, the grumpy waiter providing grunts when he did appear. I don’t always leave reviews, but hoping this one leads to some feedback to the guy in question.

Leo was an absolute superstar, his service is impeccable and he made us feel so welcome and special. Food fabulous, atmosphere brilliant, would definitely come again

The food was really bland and unpleasant, it didn't taste good at all especially for the high price we had to pay. The chicken didnt taste good at all and it wasn't creamy, the pasta also tasted like it was pasta and catch up( it didn't even have Parmesan). We also ordered dessert which was really hard to consume as it had a lot of chocolate in It and it just felt like it was bought from a local job and was served. Overall I don't recommend it at all!!

The food was really well presented and perfect sized portions. It was also seasoned perfectly 👌 Banquette seating was too low for the table however 👎🏻

While the food is what you might expect for a high priced chain Italian place the ingredients are clearly fresh and the polite friendly and efficient staff more than make the experience of dining here while you stay nearby. The bar staff and my waitress Isabel were very welcoming and provided a really pleasant dining experience.

Very disappointed party of 5 the carbonara was very dry and returned to kitchen belly pork was passable but tasteless and calzone was ok. Lucy was very pleasant and dealt with our complaint very professionaly. Location and view was lovely . Nice atmosphere but wont be rushing back.

Cleanliness I would give 5 stars. However I have only given 1 star as I did not feel welcome as a customer, eye roles and minimal communication from the staff were very unpleasant. In regards to the food, the menu did not highlight allergy information and trying to find out what I was able to eat seemed to be a chore to staff. The starting course was burnt, the main course tasted like rubbery chicken. Staff didn’t remove the starting course in time for the main so I removed it myself. Definitely not value for money. Wouldn’t recommend going back at all. I think this is the first bad review I have ever left a place. Gino please ask your staff to up their game.

The food is wonderful at Gino D'Acampo. I have dined here several times during my trip to Newcastle and enjoyed each experience. The cheesecake is amazing! Ellaina is an absolute delight. Very friendly and attentive. 5 stars!

I was served undercooked chicken. I sent this back to the kitchen and asked for this to be checked because the chicken was visibly undercooked. It was brought back to my table very quickly and I was told that it was fine and there’s nothing to worry about, it was visibly undercooked so I had to send this back for a second time before it was taken away and took off the bill. A restaurant like this should not be serving customers undercooked chicken and certainly not then sending it back to the customer once they have already complained.

Went in a large party. Restaurant very full and very loud. Starter and main course was good. Desert (chocolate fondant) was like a brown rubber ball. Not good. Service was good considering the conditions. Food was overpriced but expected trading on Gino's name.

Visited today with my husband and very disappointed. The restaurant itself is modern, airy and comfortable, although there was a waft of sewerage where we were sitting inside - which seemed to be from the river. Unfortunately, the food was not worth the price we paid for it. The starter I had was bland. The main (chicken with mushroom sauce) was ok but I wouldn't pay the full price for this if we didn’t get it in the lunch time menu. The broccoli was ok but the potatoes were over-salted - plus paid extra for each and didn’t get much at approx an extra £12 for these. They also add the gratuity to the bill. This in itself would put me off ever going back. I am happy to pay gratuity at my own discretion and not be expected to pay this as it is put in the receipt. Always a big no no with us! Overall, will never return here the food was not worth the money.

The food was absolutely amazing, our server Lucy was a sweetheart and the restaurant as well as the hotel are nicely decorated. We were there on a Saturday night so the only downside was that the music was quite loud and it was a bit hard to have a conversation.

This is my favourite restaurant, the food is amazing, the staff are wonderful and the atmosphere is perfect. There was a dj on and the tunes were fab! Isabel our server was lovely and friendly.

A delicious dinner for our family Anniversary dinner. Detailed attention to the gluten-free needs of two of our posse. Great to have such a variety of gluten-free options, feeling confident that the kitchen and our fantastic servers (isabel and Sara) were looking after us. Cheers!

Lucy’s service was espetacular, well done to her. We were on a big table and everyone’s food was lovely, very big portions we should have shared starters. Lovely location by tje river. We also had drinks before the the hotel bar.

Had such a disappointing visit here last week. After hearing such good things previously we were looking forward to our booking. The bad experience started from the second we arrived, by being rudely welcomed, waiting an hour for our main meals to arrive which when they eventually did, 1 was burnt yet clay cold inside. The sides we had ordered were stale as we could see them sitting on the side for over 15 minutes (obviously while they waited for our mains to be ready). I sent back my main which I then received another 1, tasting fresher but was still very stodgy. The man, who I can only assume was the manager, stood with the chef glaring at us and talking about us yet never once came over to apologise for our wait, cold food etc, left it to a young member of waiting staff to apologise - she was lovely, and felt sorry for her as she seemed quite embarrassed. We were offered free desserts - which we are still waiting for now 5 days on, and served an incorrect drink. But after already being in the restaurant almost 2 and a half hours at this point, I didn't have the energy to wait for the correct 1. The starters and the other main I must say were delicious though. We did complain, and were told 'an unexpected table of 50 people had arrived'. Well I'm sorry but I don't see that as an excuse. If you cant deal with a 50 table, don't accept them. Especially not if it effects other diners, I also must say I didn't witness this large table being there when we were. We also had to ask more than once for the bill, ending up with us physically getting up and going to the host table to request again. Add also being seated directly infront of an open door with a constant draught. Will not be returning.

We were a group of five and couldn’t fault anything about our meal. The service was excellent ( Ellie) and the food was extremely good. Will be back ..

We had an incredible dining experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious, especially the Carbonara and the Spicy Aubergine Pasta both were perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. To top it all off, we had the Tiramisu for dessert, and it was simply divine. A special shoutout to our waiter, Anjali, who took such great care of us throughout the evening. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. We felt truly looked after. We'll definitely be back!

We had a great evening. Service is excellent and relaxed. Food is superb and a good varied menu. Cocktails and range of wines is good, but would like to see a wider range of non-alcoholic options.

We came for a drink and ended up getting a pizza as everyone else’s looked so nice around us. Got truffle Parmesan fries too because I am obsessed with truffle…now I am obsessed with these fries! Beautiful, the pizza was too! Would 100% return again for a full meal. Views and atmosphere from outside are fantastic!

We had a really nice night in the restaurant, food & service were excellent and were so well looked after by Lucy who is a real asset to the team. This is our third visit and we have never been disappointed so will continue coming each time we stay in Newcastle.

Perhaps not surprisingly the food is terrific and the quayside on a beautiful sunny evening is hard to beat. The only thing missing was some smiles from the staff.

Booked for NE1, restraunt week. We thought portion sizes would be small for the price we were paying. Great portion sizes, tasty food excellent service from all the staff especially Ellie the ballerina. Went out of her way to help me with a swollen ankle. Atmosphere was relaxing and chilled. Highly recommend

The restaurant is great, the food is great and the staff are great. The restaurant toilets are a shared unisex room with cubicles (for bar and restaurant customers). I was there for dinner with my girlfriend and it was a special occasion, but the toilet situation is not great. As I was entering the toilet, there was a woman already in there who looked extremely uncomfortable and at the same time a slightly drunk looking man was leaving. As I was leaving, two slightly more drunk men were entering...it doesn't bother me at all, I'm not a woman, but the idea of my girlfriend who is dressed up beautifully having to sit on a toilet which drunk men have likely just made a mess of really ruins the overall feeling of having a great experience. She decided to wait until we got home to use the bathroom....not ideal at all. Such a sad way to ruin such a great restaurant.

Very poor service! After dining here a number of times I'm very sorry to say its gone rapidly downhill. They got one of our meals wrong (even though it was pointed out on the menu). They had to check about gluten free options and vegetarianoptions. They then forgot the vegetarian gravy and then had a whole conversation about it was even meat free! I pointed out that if you offer a veggie Sunday roast then how can it nit be veggie gravy? Once our plates were taken away, no one asked if we wanted more drinks or dessert, coffees etc. I watched the waiting staff systematically work their way around the diners but we were completely ignored. It took me to ask to speak to the manager before we were acknowledged. The manager just kept saying sorry. He did try to give us a free tiramisu and cheesecake (neither of which I could eat being gluten free) and once again apologised. I have to say you lost out on additional money from further orders on desserts and drinks. I personally won't dine here again as am appalled at how much has changed. Not what I would expect or have experienced here before...very disappointed. Gino you need to take hold of the reins here as I'd this is your new standard, it falls very, very short!

Spent one evening just for drinks, this was lovely, sitting outside beside the river. The second evening we decided to have dinner. Lovely setting indoors in the restaurant, beautiful decor, waitress friendly, food however was very average, adequate portions, adequate taste……just adequate overall.

Negative service mind I don’t recommend. I am waiting with my friends for the table almost 30 mins but when white customers come in they just service them and brought them to the seat directly. So impolite restaurant ever I never got any racist in UK before so this restaurant is the first restaurant that gives me a bad experience

Very bad service. We’ve waited for half an hour to be seated when there’re not even 20 people there. The waiter told us to wait for 15 mins but after 20 mins none of the staff came to take us to the table. Racist staffs. Awful not recommended.

Ordered food and drinks practically as we arrived as we know what the service is like.. 25 mins and nothing ..eventually they served the first course ...our drinks were still MIA!. its a sunny dayand we were parched. Water was warm....Then another 20 minutes before main course arrived. Went for Sunday lunch. Lovely but only 2 slices of beef was a bit tight veg wa soggy ..then a wait for mjng sauce salt and pepper. The staff seem to just stroll around and no urgency. Service charge added without consultation as most places do these days. . . Service is terrible...food is generally nice tho

We were in Newcastle upon Tyne visiting our son his wife and their children and they took us to Ginos for my husbands birthday celebration

My family and I recently visited and we were very impressed with the delicious food and outstanding service. Amy and Anjali were particularly kind and attentive, especially with our children. They even went the extra mile by offering to take a family photo for us.

Sam and Anjali were so amazing. They organised the birthday surprise party for my wife and sister in a great way and very perfect. Food is amazing. Service is outstanding. Cant recommend it enough. The best in town.

Apart from amazing food, the best quality pizza, garlic bread etc. we had fillet steak. I haven’t had steak for ages as it’s been pretty bland, but this is one that needs to be eaten to be believed. A special word for Sam, our waiter, who was friendly, professional and attentive without being too much. Well done Sam.

Our launch was a comedy of errors. The short, curly-haired waiter, with an air of high altitude, was hilariously clueless. The food was late, they forgot our water, and the pièce de résistance? He dropped our pizza on the floor. Ten minutes later, they brought the pizza back, and it felt like they just picked it up off the floor. If you want dinner and a show, this is the place!

Great meal, delicious food, sides were late arriving in we’d eaten two-thirds of our main courses, but they gave us a full refund on those.

Loved the food. The layout and decor is lovely and relaxing. When making our reservation the girl who took our reservation was friendly and efficient. . However, when in the restaurant were really disappointed with the service. Received much better service in less high end profile restaurants. Had to ask for water on several occasions. Received the wrong starter. The staff came across as aloof. Would not rush back. A shame, as mentioned, the food is good and reasonably priced.

My wife and I went with the intention of having the lunch menu which was 3 courses plus a drink for £30 (very reasonable) Then we looked at the full menu £195 later we left feeling satisfied and luckily the whole trip was a gift. Food, wine and service was amazing, but at that price I hope Gino was out back washing the pots. We had a bottle of chardonnay, shared starter, peppered tuna, grilled sea bass, mozzarella and smoked cheese garlic bread, truffle fries and a double JD and coke.

Restaurant was lovely but freezing. Air con was cold, many diners had jackets, hoodies and coats on. Food was OK and expensive. Service was painfully slow. Two courses, two glasses of wine, two coffees over £100. We didn't expect to pay that kind of money to sit uncomfortable. Wouldn't recommend.

Lovely location on a sunny day. Sadly the food & service we experienced didn’t match the surroundings. The servers were nice & friendly, but there were so few of them - too few to cope. The food was average at best, we had the rice balls for starters - they tasted of nothing, no flavour at all - very poor. The main course was no better - very average. There were 2 of us, we both left underwhelmed & £120 poorer for the experience. My advice would be to go next door to Wetherspoons for food & drinks! Same location, better food & service for a third of the price.

Great way to end graduation day warm friendly atmosphere staff were lovely and helpful in particular Ellis and Sam. I left my graduation photos and the staff went out of their way to keep hold of them and find them for us on arrival keep up the good work guys - Simon and Samantha

Lovely place to eat, Burgers are quite small for the price, my half lobster spaghetti dish had to be sent back the first time due to only having two very small pieces of meat, second time had mor meat but it's still not a half lobster.

Gino D’Acampo’s restaurant on the Quayside in Newcastle is a culinary delight! The food is to die for, with each dish bursting with flavour. The drinks are fabulous, complementing the meal perfectly. The ambience is cool, clean, and inviting, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. The service was brilliant, with attentive and friendly staff ensuring a fantastic dining experience. Highly recommended!
