Gino D'acampo Restaurant Quayside in Newcastle upon Tyne

Been today with my son . We had the seafood risotto. For £45 for two people it is expensive. We were so disappointed with the amount of seafood which was meagre. The waitress was lovely and gave me a free dessert but we won't be back

Amazing experience this past weekend. Delicious food and bartender Erin was so helpful and recommended a great cocktail when I was unsure what to order. Will be back when visiting Newcastle again!

Reservamos una mesa aquí mientras estábamos alojados en el hotel INNSiDE by Melia. Antes de nuestra reserva bajamos a tomar unas copas en la zona del bar / lounge, que fue una pequeña decepción. Abiertamente era una tarde ajetreada para ellos, pero solo había una persona sirviendo en el bar, y la cola era lenta. Tomó casi 20 minutos de pie antes de que nos sirvieran y bebieran. El anfitrión en la entrada del restaurante parecía estar ausente la mayoría del tiempo también, incluso escuchamos a un miembro del personal preguntar dónde estaban. Pasamos por el restaurante que estaba muy bien equipado. Cuando nos sentamos pedimos comida y otra ronda de bebidas que estaba bien, parecía entonces una gran mesa a un lado de nosotros estaba siendo roto y el sonido del camarero raspando las mesas sobre las baldosas era un poco molesto, ¿podría otro miembro del personal no venir y ayudar a moverlos para asegurar la comodidad de sus comensales actuales? Tuvimos que pedir que se dejara caer una botella de agua en la mesa, seguramente eso debería ser estándar en un restaurante sentado. Sin duda, la comida era deliciosa. En general, la experiencia estaba bien, a un precio razonable. Puede volver, no estoy seguro.

Although not cheap, the food is really good value. High quality and good portion size. The childrens meal was excellent value in particular!

One of my favourite restaurants - until I discovered tonight for some unfashionable reason the toilets are unisex. They were busy so I went upstairs by was greeted at a member of staff who sent me back downstairs - apparently the only option a rhw unisex or the disabled toilets. Sorry by I find this absolutely repulsive! My wife won’t go in unless I accompany here - and what would happen if I brought my grandchildren in, would they have to put up with this?! Have no David this a Melia hotels “thing” by if it is I would never now stay in one!!!

Recently had the pleasure of dining at Gino D' Acampo Newcastle, and it was an exceptional experience. The gluten-free seafood pasta was absolutely delicious, with fresh flavors and perfectly cooked seafood. Our waiter Leo was incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The service was top-notch, and the food was outstanding. I would highly recommed Gino D' Acampo Newcastle for a great dining experience.

Gino D’Acampo- expectations been very high and what a disappointment it was… Service was good and can’t blame it but food, this is not what we expected. Bruschetta al pomodoro been a not a best bread, very oily with tonne of pepper. Shocking quality. Beef carpaccio been ok but pecorino romano was nowhere near actual Italian pecorino. Carbonara been actually ok, bit watery at the start. Pizza - dough was actually good but tomato sauce again was very strange with a lot of seasoning and not much tomato flavours - it supposed to be san marzano tomatoes… Overall wouldn’t recommend and won’t be back, there is so many smaller places in Newcastle which will serve you much better food for a better price.

Terrible service. Ordered broccoli and came totally burnt and can't believe it was served. Ignored for almost 30mins after seated and had to go meet the manager to be served and there was no apology. Would never go there again .

A hidden gem of a place. It is so nice to eat food that has been cooked by a chief. My pet hate is paying for food I can cook at home. Finding a restaurant that produces great food is hard to find. This is a wonderful restaurant and great value for money. A place you must try.

The mocha is simply cacao from supermarket , it doesn’t taste anything ! The food is overpriced for what you have The stacomba di pollo is okay only for the sauce they add, but not even nice potatoes only half cooked greens and you expect better for the price you pay for this dish which is £25 The ambience is good with riverview

Lovely outdoor space with great views of the Tyne. But beware if it’s sunny they can’t cope. It took me 20 minutes to get my 2nd beer. It was so slow that as soon as it came I ordered another one! It seems that they don’t read weather forecasts and plan more staff for these occasions. The staff work hard but they could smile more and engage customers more. I felt like they treated everyone as transient not as someone who could recommend them or not as the case maybe. The food was lovely, I had the arancine al ragu, king prawn bruschetta and wild boar fettuccine with some lovely draught Moretti when it did come! Strangely they don't seem to turn many of the heaters on outside when the sun goes down so they don’t get anyone sitting outside as a result after 4pm. Lovely place to enjoy a beer and watch the world go by next to the river and bridges.

We made a special trip from the lakes to stay at the hotel with Gino de campo restaurant as my wife is disabled we don’t get out much so it was her 60th birthday .we lived the menu and my wife was looking forward to the lobster pasta.on taking our seats April 14th we were told her first choice the burratta and a few other starts. Weren’t available by a quite un bothered waitress … we then went to order the lobster it wasn’t available ..no apology more take it it leave attitude.lively Jace overlooking the Tyne but honestly the waitress coukd not have been less interested .The restaurant manager was completely different made us feel welcome and thanked us for letting him know the wind had blown down some signs.Sad fir my wife we don’t have a huge income abd really was a big birthday treat.We left feeling deflated

My colleagues and I had a fantastic time at Gino’s. The pane formaggi was excellent. Leo provided us with exceptional service and we were treated wonderfully by the whole staff. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone in the area. Leo was very personable and gave us plenty of recommendations based on what we like. I always love it when a server goes above and beyond to truly make traveling magical. This is my second time dining here and I’ve been graced with Leo as my server both times. He is truly a gem and I cannot wait to come back.

Having planned to go elsewhere for lunch after checking in to the melia hotel (attached) we saw the Gino de campo bar and decided to just eat there. It was super clean with nice decor and as it was a nice day, even outside looked appealing. The pizzas were great, service was also brilliant and we thoroughly enjoyed the cocktails. Would return when next back in Newcastle

Food is always delicious in here, however only giving the service 4 stars on the basis that the managers spent more time talking while the more junior staff were absolutely ran off their feet (we couldn't fault our waiters) but st busier times the managers should be supporting their team and serving guests as quickly as possible.

Awful experience from start to finish. After being seated, I asked if they had any non alcoholic wines, the answer was a blunt no. They did not even offer alternatives. The garlic bread was so dry, I had to ask for some olive oil to dip it in, to which the waiter plonked a whole bottle of olive oil in front of me. Mains were tasteless. At least pair the caprese salad with a basil dressing? Not just a dry salad... The waiter didn't have very good English or any personality. He never returned to ask how the meal was, needless to say, we left after the mains! Would not return. A shame, as it was a beautiful looking restaurant in a great location. Ultimately people want good food, which it wasn't.

Went here for my birthday with some friends and we had a superb meal. We were well looked after by Lucy. One of our friends has an onion allergy and she made sure with the chef that our friend was able to have what he wanted but slightly modified.

Arrived late, 9.55pm after the rugby, we were staying in the hotel also. A lady offered us pizza or pasta, I took the pizza, which was nice, but maybe not my desired choice. We sat in the bar afterwards for a couple of cocktails 11.10pm to be told the cocktail maker/mixologist had gone home and it was just draught drinks… A bit disappointed really… We are back on Friday. I always give someone a second opportunity… 🇮🇹🍕🍸

I went for my friends special birthday, the ambience was amazing, food was lovely, staff couldn't do enough for you ...I will definitely be back ..oh and the added bonus lovely river view x

I had an amazing dining experience at Gink. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the staff was friendly specially Patrick and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious — each dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. Highly recommend the carbonara ! I can't wait to return.

I love this place! The ambiance is lovely especially at night, it’s glamorous and glitzy and open and bright! The service is faultless, they’re all friendly and efficient. Then there’s the food- it’s fresh and delicious. Not huge portions, just enough. They have excellent lunch deals and set menu’s as well as the main menu with plenty of choices. And it all seems to have the Gino touch! I would definitely recommend a visit to this quayside gem.

The food is good for what is effectively a flash weatherspoons. But I wouldn’t probably have any reason to return. Fit out is nice. Staff are friendly. Could use a bit more of an eye for detail on cleanliness. The salt and pepper shakers, beer glass and table were all not properly cleaned at opening.

Had a lovely birthday meal at Gino D’acampo. Our server Isabel was very kind and made sure we had everything we needed, food was incredible.

We had the pleasure of dining at Gino's on Newcastle Quayside last night, and what an experience it was! From the moment we stepped in to the moment we left, everything was simply outstanding. The impeccably dressed Jacob (forgive me if I’ve misspelled your name!) was an absolute delight—charming, attentive, and with a sharp wit that had us laughing out loud throughout the evening. And the food? Out of this world! We indulged in both starters and mains, and with each bite, we wished the experience would never end. The fillet was melt-in-your-mouth tender, the fries were perfectly crisp, and my tuna tartare? Absolute perfection—I can’t think of a better word! The ambiance only added to the magic. The decor strikes the perfect balance between elegance and warmth, making the space both stylish and inviting. And the photo booth? A brilliant touch! Needless to say, a few goofy snaps were taken. We can’t wait to return—what a treat this place is!

Afternoon tea was the worst I've had. It was not worth the money.

My daughter and her partner went here on Saturday and said their food was inedible. They left most of the food and the chips my daughter was eating were taken away by staff. They paid and left after one course . Definitely not fine dining

We recently celebrated my mother-in-law’s 50th birthday at Gino D’Acampo’s restaurant in Newcastle, and I have to say, it was an absolutely unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with such warmth and professionalism. The staff went above and beyond, ensuring we felt special throughout the entire evening. The ambiance of the restaurant is perfect for a celebratory occasion – stylish, yet welcoming. The menu was full of mouthwatering Italian dishes, and everything we ordered was simply delicious. Each plate was beautifully presented, and the flavors were on point. The wine selection was also fantastic, offering a great variety to complement our meal. The service truly stood out. Our server was attentive without being intrusive, always making sure our glasses were full and that we were enjoying our food. They even surprised my mother-in-law with a special birthday treat, which was a lovely touch. It made the evening feel even more personal and memorable. All in all, Gino D’Acampo’s Newcastle is a top-notch choice for any special occasion. I was in two minds to use this as it was in the same hotel I was staying in and there are plenty of good restaurants in the vicinity. I’m glad I did. Sat on my own, the Maître d' looked after me and adapted some of the dishes for a more authentic five course Italian approach. The food was excellent; the kitchen is obviously talented. I’m really glad I used the storm as a poor excuse not to go any further.

Great food with very nice staff

Visited with my husband and our five year old niece for afternoon tea. Spoke to staff before and understood it wasn't a children's tea. Menu sounded lovely but was generally underwhelming. Some of the worst scones I've ever had. Service was incredibly slow and inattentive. Our tea trays were served with missing items... We paid for three of everything and did not have three of everything. Parking looks to be a nightmare but luckily we were dropped off at the door. Location has lovely views. Would not return for afternoon tea, but maybe would give it a second and final chance for Italian fare. If the service did not improve, could not justify returning at all.

It’s a lovely restaurant in a really good position. It’s very clean,atmospheric and spacious. Staff member really attentive and pleasant (Lucy). The food was delicious

Dined with 2 friends as part of restaurant week. Was busy which was to be expected. Starters came out instantly so obviously not freshly made to order. I had a well seasoned capresse which was a little lacking in mozzarella. I then had sausage pizza which again was decent - that took a little longer to come out so at least we can assume that was fresh out the oven. 2 of us chose tiramisu for desert - mine was almost frozen in the middle. It looked good and was moist but lacked any flavour other than cream. The decor was very uninspiring. Obviously it was dark outside so will look completely different when you can see out the windows. And lastly - unisex toilets?! Women have long seen the ladies loo as a place of safety. There were 3 cubicles. If I’d walked in and there’d been men stood at the sink I would have walked out. A very awkward looking bloke emerged from one cubicle and scuttled out without washing his hands. Another opened the door, saw it was mostly women and chose to use the separate disabled facilities. Just odd. Would I be back? Nope. A celebrity endorsed restaurant such as this would never be my choice but we had left it too late to book anything else so a friend suggested here. There are plenty of much better restaurants in Newcastle.

disgusting afternoon tea. total waste of money. tea was tepid coffee was tepid and murky. for an italian restaurant so dreadul. we got it exchanged but got just the same hard as a rock scones. bad service. will never go back it was disgraceful. worst ever afternoon tea!!!

Sorry to say... Was expecting much much better! For £26.50 for essentially a salmon fillet, 10 spinach leaves and a butter sauce... for only the sauce to be seasoned was wild! Not in a good way... The truffle chips were undercooked and borderline inedible. My mussels to start were phenomenal but my partners calamari was overcooked and under seasoned. Absolutely gutted - expected sooooo much better for the price tag 😭

The food was okay but not terrific, feel like it could be better, I have tasted better Italian pasta. Service was awful, staff were not welcoming and accommodating. Maybe they were overwhelmed, I don’t know but they need to do better.

Ordered everything as room service. Arancini was good, lasagna unfortunately got a little too much of Gino’s “everyday oil”. But overall certainly not the worst option to eat.

Very good food, service and a nice place to eat. I was with family so we took a table for 10 and were all served at the same time, food was hot and delicious. Calamari. Calzone. Chocolate cheesecake. All with "If my Grandmother had wheels" You need to go and try the mocktails.

This is a really nice place, though I thought the food was pretty so so, like not much different to other places. The place was packed though & the standard of service never slipped. Would defo go again.

Had one of best meals I’d had for ages last night. The Burrata starter was to die for and Chrispy chicken stuffed with mozzarella and tomato, roast pots and roast seasonal veg was just as fabulous. Thanks to Leo for that main course recommendation, you were right! The staff are great, really friendly, and are attentive but not overly so.

Thought a Tuesday night treat was in order, travelled from Sheffield. Wasn't too busy at 8pm and the staff were great. Alas the food quality was nowhere near as good as previous restaurants in Leeds and Manchester. The salmon was over cooked and the veal seemed to be deep fried. Never had a problem with any other gino restaurant, hoping they were just having a bad day.

We had an amazing dining experience at Gino’s, which has quickly become our favorite Italian spot in Newcastle. We tried the Frutti di Mare and Margherita Pizza, and both dishes were made to perfection! Our food was prepared without alcohol to meet halal standards, and the seafood was incredibly fresh. The ambiance was stunning, with a beautiful setting overlooking the iconic Tyne Bridge by the river—truly a feast for both the palate and the eyes. Highly recommend for anyone looking for authentic Italian food in a gorgeous location!

First time at Ginos on Friday night! Great vibes from the minute I walked in. The bar was busy but it didn't take long to get a drink while we waited for our table. First rime viewing the menu and there was plenty to choose from! I got the beef ragu arancine balls which were delicious. Chicken stuffed with Mozzarella, sundried tomatoes and pesto sauce....... BOSH! I personally loved the food and the restaurant! I'd happily go back next Friday! Thanks Gino you dirty D'Acampo for an excellent night.

Hello I visited last week for a birthday, we asked for the waiter to sing happy birthday as we were celebrating, they said they’d bring it when we’d ordered desserts He did not when we left after I’d explained her responded with “it’s just one of them things” no apologies or anything it was very disappointing.

As much as I wanted to enjoy my first experience at one of Gino's restaurants, I was unfortunately disappointed by what I suspected would be mediocre food with mediocre service. The menu was uninspiring - some classic Italian dishes you'd expect from any retail chain so I opted for a cheeseburger simply because I thought that's always going to be good. Sadly not, the brioche bun was heavily charred with grill lines, the bland patty overcooked and the cheese slice burnt to a husk. The lettuce and tomato that would usually be in the burger were served on the side and the tomatoes weren't the freshest. Even the chips were undercooked and the side of spinach I ordered in an attempt to balance my meal was literally just wilted spinach with no flavour. I should mention that my server never asked how I'd like my burger cooked and with retrospect, I could have volunteered that I like them a bit pink but it slipped my mind when ordering. I would have said something to the team had someone come to check on me but they didnt, even though I tried signalling to 2 different members of wait staff, I just couldn't get their attention. It was busy in the restaurant and after travelling to Newcastle from London that day, and waiting to enjoy a meal before bed, I didn't have the energy to wave someone down and send food back. Sadly like most celeb restaurants, this feels all style and no substance. The score balanced out a bit because it was clearly busy and I was dining alone but still, I spent 60 quid on 2 courses, a side and 2 drinks so would have liked this to be better.

Made the mistake of ordering steaks, ribeye and fillet. Both costing £40 plus and very tough. This was very disappointing when splashing out for a special occasion.

Como de costumbre la comida aquí era excelente. No puedo culparlo. Sin embargo, el chef está constantemente navegando en sus teléfonos móviles, jugando con sus barbas y picando. En ningún momento se lavaron las manos. Si quieres una excelente comida con un lado de gérmenes, este es el lugar para ti. El personal de camareros en ningún momento preguntó cómo estaba nuestra comida, pregúntenos si queremos más bebidas. También tuvimos que llamar a un miembro del personal de espera para pedir nuestras bebidas y comida, ya que habíamos estado esperando 15 minutos desde que nos sentamos. Nos alojaremos dos noches, pero no vamos a comer aquí mañana por la noche.

Love this place, and it is my favourite restaurant in Newcastle. Food is always great Update...... Went again on January 22nd. Totally different experience, and food was not at usual standard. Did email the restaurant, but disappointed that I got no response. Don't think I'll be going back in a hurry. The prices have gone up beyond industry norms too. Sad Update 2..... Been going back for a while, and service is fantastico again. Stefan is our favourite server, and the management is brilliant. Love this place. View, food, service Update 3 😊🤣. Went again November 17th. Dear oh dear. Pricing has made this place a ghost restaurant. Very few diners. £25 for a chicken breast with no sides. £10 for deserts. These are fine dining prices, but the restaurant is not. Really can't justify paying this price, even if the service is great. Looking at other reviews, it seems I'm not alone with my opinions.

Food, Drinks and service was all amazing! We were served by Lucy who was absolutely great and we truly felt looked after! COD was perfectly cooked and the meatballs had just the right amount of kick! Well deserved 5 stars, not our first time here and it certainly won’t be the last!
