Amalia Italian Restaurant in Liverpool

There aren’t many places you feel like you’re at home and amongst family, but Amalia is this place. We are always so welcomed with our little boy. The food is exceptional, the best pizza around, but it wouldn’t taste as nice without the amazing staff. Thank you so much for always looking after us.

Great place to eat with family. Went for my 50th birthday and loved every moment. The food was delicious and the staff were helpful and friendly.

The food here was incredible. We stumbled across this place as it was close to the place we were staying. We visited with our two young boys. The food was some of the best we've had. The Carbonara was unlike anything I've ever tasted and the pizzas amazing. The staff were lovely too and made us feel so welcome. Would definitely recommend.

Delicious food! I asked for a four cheese calzone and it was so delicious. The best one I’ve ever tried! My partner ordered cannoli for dessert, I tried some and they are amazing too. Great prices, fantastic staff and lovely atmosphere. One of our favourites!

Service could be better but the food is really good. If you like a full pint of beer it's not for you as you will get a lot of foam and only one beer on tap. All taken into consideration 4 stars with a big push. Very loud as well.

Not my first time visiting but always kept forgetting to leave a review! Every time I go there, alone or with friends, we’re having a marvelous time! The food is delicious, staff is so friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is just so cute and authentic! Big shout out to Gosia, who’s always so chatty, positive and kind! Always welcomes me with a smile on her face! Already can’t wait to go back! Highly recommend 😊

Vi hadde en treig middag her. Tok en time fra vi bestilte mat , pizza og pasta. Til dette ble levert. Bestilte bord på forhånd og dette var ok. Men kan ikke anbefale denne restauranten enkelt og greit utifra et himla rot med logistikken. Flere hadde samme problem. Maten var ok. Velger en annen neste gang.

Nous avons réservé une table à 19:00. On nous a mis en attente ensuite, on nous regarder mal. Plein de personnes ont eu une table avant nous. À 20:00 nous sommes parti car on nous a pas mis à une table alors qu'on est allé demandé plusieurs fois quand la table était prête mais sans réponse.

Gone downhill which is such a shame, pizzas are still delicious but our starters were cold and the pasta dishes left a lot to be desired. Floor staff did what they could with a busy night but they forgot drinks we'd ordered, didn't have forks on the table, no soap or toilet paper in the toilets. Really disappointing and probably won't be going back

Very good food and service, went midweek and service was quick, we were a group of 5 ordered lasagna, meat ball pasta, folded pizza, four cheese pizza between us and a pizza to share, everything ordered was excellent in taste .very reasonable prize. Only criticism is how menu is printed, it's printed in redink and hard to read .

Really disappointed, had booking and came at time just to be told that we have to come back in 30 minutes , I would understand if someone is late to work in 7am but at noon ,seriously ? You can have amazing pizza but your staff has minimum costumers service standards and generally dont care about your costumers

This is our favourite family place to go to, everytime we go to Liverpool City centre. The people working there are so nice and do a fantastic job of making you feel welcome. The food is exceptional and the quality is consistent everytime we go. There's normally 5 or 6 of us and eat a variety of food off the menu and we've never had a complaint. Big thank you to everyone working there and look forward to seeing you all again soon.

After walking in off the street, We're welcomed and seated immediately. Wait staff were extremely courteous and pleasant. Orders were taken promptly and food was delivered in very quick time. Overall an excellent experience at the restaurant and recommend people to try it.

Great! Everything was fabulous!

Delicious pasta (tagliatelle with pistachio pesto) and calzone, but the dessert was very disappointing - the cannoli tasted like pure sugar and was unfortunately disappointing.

A bit disappointed tonight. Been here before and couldn't really fault it. Service was not good . Had to ask for salt. Had to ask for pepper. Never had spoons on the table and non offered. Waited for quite a while between courses. Never asked if food was OK. Don't think I'll be going back.

We visited here for my wife’s birthday. It was the first time back for six years but it was still as brilliant as ever. We enjoyed our meal so much we returned for lunch the next day. The service is excellent, the food quality is top notch and it’s very reasonably priced. The portions are large so make sure you are hungry if you come. A truly wonderful place

DO NOT EAT HERE. This was probably the WORST restraint experience ever. To start the night off I cut my finger on a sticking out nail beneath my seat, causing me to bleed excessively, to which the owners could only tell me "your alright". I order a "sausage pasta", which had no sausage in and when I questioned this the server laughed and said do you not know what nduja is? Sausage flavoured pasta basically. Couldn't even eat I, pure grease. Then to top it all off we were over charged. Never again will I eat here.

Food and wine was pleasant, nothing extraordinary. Service felt quite rushed and wasn’t too impressed, hoping that it was just because it was busy and a late saturday night. Will likely visit again and hope for better things as it was fairly good value for money.

Delicious food and great service. Decor and seating could do with a bit of an update but the food really does do the talking in this space. Great for families.

We hadn’t been here for a while so I was excited to go. Sadly, our food had gone dramatically downhill from our last visit. The pizzas were nothing like they used to be and it was all a bit rushed and lacking in the gorgeous flavours they used to include. The service was good and the prices are still good.

A lovely, authentic restaurant - we went on a Friday (mid) afternoon so a little quieter (I imagine) but still a lovely atmosphere. The food was delicious, rustic Italian - exactly what you want when you go to a family Italian. Decent price, friendly service, tasty food. Recommend.

Veldig god pizza, og hyggelig betjening. Vi fant bare stedet på google, og gikk til restauranten. Der ble vi mottatt av en hyggelig betjening, og fikk oss et godt måltid til en god pris.

Found this cafe by accident on a walk past Duke Street. Friendly staff, lovely food, very reasonable prices. Will definitely be going back.

We went to the deli opposite the main restaurant. Great and authentic food, amazing portion to price ratio, really friendly staff! The baked cheesecake was the perfect end to the meal.

Very nice restaurant 2 steps from the center of Liverpool. Very good pizza and average prices but it was a little heavy and a little too tasty. Friendly and helpful staff.

Been to the main restaurant, ordered takeout and recently went to the new Amalia Cicchetti which lived up to the high standards that the main restaurant gave it. I had the pistachio, strawberry and lemon Cannoli and I can honestly say that I have never smiled from food before I tried this. It was sooooo good that I couldn’t help but smile from the delightful taste. The atmosphere is amazing, the staff are so friendly and I don’t think you could get a better Italian restaurant than this. Probably my favourite restaurant of all the ones I’ve been to and can’t recommend it to enough people. Love love love Amalia <3

I can only vouch for the pizzas here. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. If you’re a pizza lover then don’t bother going anywhere else. This place smashes it out the park. Been coming years. All the local Italians come too. Enough said.

Late taking us to the table. The waiters seemed to be in a rush. Nobody came over to check our food was ok. The seafood pasta was oily and the mussels weren’t cooked properly. The Hawaiian pizza was soggy and the ham was cold and tasteless. They only said was everything okay because we left the majority of the pizza and luckily took it off the bill at the end. Won’t be returning, disappointed.

I can only describe my experience here as awful. Waited almost 2 hours for our meal had to remind them 3 times about our food, the sides were brought out 25 minutes before the mains (and were cold) when the mains finally arrived my son...

Fantastic Italian restaurant in Liverpool centre. Great service, lovely grub and all at a reasonable price. Really friendly welcome from all of the team. And if you fancy a drink afterwards - the Bridewell is just next door

Food always amazing and staff are great.

We booked a table last night at 7pm for 8.30pm via their online booking system. Upon arrival at the restaurant at 8.25pm we stood in a queue at door waiting to be seated. The manager walked past the people in the queue multiple times over the next 5-10 mins before actually acknowledging anyone was there or to say he would be a minute before he would be over. He actively walked about avoiding eye contact with customers for quite some time. When he eventually spoke to us he stated that each evening when he runs the bookings off the system before service they do not take any more updated bookings after this time. This was very disappointing as the booking system online was still open to be used with availability and as a tourist only visiting Liverpool for the weekend how were we to know? He told us that he could seat us for dinner at 9.30 and that we could wait in the chichetti bar across the street. We did so and ordered a drink and some breads. There was very little communication and once it got to 9.30 and beyond I asked a waitress what time we could expect to be seated. After some back and forth we were told there would be no room for us in the restaurant but we could order from the takeaway menu to eat in the bar. We were amongst a few other groups in the same position. By the time we got to order and eat it was over an hour and a half since our original meal time which was very late for us and ruined our plans for the rest of the evening. Very disappointed by this as this restaurant had been highly recommended online and we ended up eating pizza out of a cardboard box at a bar stool. Would not recommend visiting as communication is very poor and the food was not worth the extensive wait. If they had known they were not going to have tables to sit us originally we would’ve went elsewhere but by the time we were told most other places had stopped serving food.

We went to the Amalia restaurant on Saturday 3rd February 2024 to celebrate our grandson's 18th Birthday. The whole experience was fantastic with wonderful food, wonderful staff and the atmosphere was terrific. We will definitely return.

Could not recommend this place enough! We arrived at about 18:00 looking for a meal and were seated after a short wait. Menu is full of options — I’d have gone with a margherita but there was this Gorgonzola pizza that tempted me, and I’m glad I chose it! Delicious. Food came quickly, service was great, overall a very good night

Staff were friendly but it was incredibly noisy. We struggled to hear each other over the noise around us. We didn't stand a chance of hearing the kids. My pasta was pretty average. (This was a 5.30pm booking, not late night!)

We were in Liverpool for only 24 hours and we were recommended this place by Charley (LiverTours). What a perfect choice for us! Initially we went (in error) to their newer sister wine bar/deli which is just across the road but also looked lovely. But...

Booked this place last minute and so glad that I did. The food, service, and location is brilliant. We will be returning in the future.

Amalia is a lovely Italian restaurant with nice staff and good food. Would highly recommend booking in advance as it does get busy. We got a table indoors on the ground floor. For summer, they have loads of outdoor sitting to enjoy the loveky weather. The staff were very nice and helpful, our meals arrived on time and were cooked to perfection. If you are up for a big challenge, I would recommend you take the Calzone challenge (it's massive and could feed 3 people) - if you get to finish it alone within 1hr, you get it for free..... Have fun trying :-) All in all, I would highly recommend a visit to Amalia if you are in Liverpool City Centre for a great Italian meal. They have won awards for their pizza over the last few years ( Hope to try it sometime soon)

Great Italian very close to Liverpool One. Excellent value for money food with lovely staff. We enquired what a next door table had for starters. This was after our main course and a few minutes later we were brought the chicken croquettes on he house....

Excellent family friendly restaurant in a great location. Had an amazing pizza and family birthday celebration. Buzzing atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff.

Shaky tables and chairs, dirty, smelly bathrooms, stuff not intrested. Everyone dressed differently. It was hard to know whether they were customers or stuff members. There were a lot of empty tables on the first floor which looked much nicer, unfortunately the staff said that this area is out of use. 10 minutes later a group of friends of one of the employees took one of the tables without any problem, there were a lot of empty tables left but unfortunately there was no room for us. We were not impressed by anything. After checking google reviews about this place, we expected something much better. I do not recommend it.

Avoid if you like nice Italian food, burnt pizza, bland pasta, cold food.

We tried to eat in the food market round the corner but it was soooo faffy having to download and order using a QR code that we left there in a huff. Thank God we did. Amalia is a genuine Italian restaurant with great food, service and atmosphere. It was packed and we didn't have a reservation. They put us into the waiting area and it wasn't long until we were seated. The waitress had just the right level of attention and we were amazed how very busy she was. Excellent place to eat.

Semplicemente horrible! Non è assolutamente italiano, servizio scadente ma ancora più terribile il cibo , dagli antipasti al dolce è stato un disastro!! Sono tutti spagnoli che provano a fare cucina italiana ma non ci riescono neanche minimamente. Inoltre nel locale non sono accesi i riscaldamenti, ho mangiato con il giubbotto e non ero l’unica. Update dopo tre anni: Sono tornata per la sera di capodanno 2023/2024 ma sempre peggio! Le portate erano sbagliate o non arrivavano proprio,il cibo scadente e servizio 0!La manager ,una signora bionda, veramente maleducata e rude, voleva farci accomodare alle 20 per farci alzare da tavola alle 21 nonostante la prenotazione in largo anticipo per la notte di capodanno.NEVER AGAIN

It’s not the best Italian food in Liverpool and it’s not the worst.

First visit today had the most amazing meal today meatball starters and calzone and pasta carbonara for mains one of nicest Italians we have been to will defo return

They are pretty decent, the pizzas are definitely on the good side (8/10) the pasta also quite decent. Starters and dessert also tasty and quality. Lots of choices as well. Can't fault the place as we've been here almost 10 times already and had no major issue at all, actually we had no issues so far :). Can get very busy at some times.

Had a lovely evening with my daughter and granddaughter, food delicious, extremely friendly staff just a lovely time x

Good selection of Italian food, fantastic value on the meerkat meals. The portions are really generous and the food is fresh and full of flavour. There is a area of Liverpook FC merchandise from previous visits which is nice to see and may be of interest to fans. The calzone are full of meat and come with a dip.

Lovely food big portion size friendly staff highly recommend!!

I have been several times and love it the food is autentic and delicious. I took a colleague for his birthday, he absolutely loved it, we will both be returning. He has a property in Italy where he spends a lot of time eating authentic dishes and was extremely impressed with the restraunt, the setting, staff and food. You are never rushed even when they are really busy.

First time at this restaurant & went in on the off chance we could get a table. Only waited 5 mins before we sat down, which was good as it was quite busy. Didn't want too much to eat so we ended up just having a main course & a drink each. The food tasted lovely & was hot (I hate it when food turns up lukewarm!!), so the plates ended up empty & we both said that we would be back again soon. Highly recommended!!

Hemos comido de menú, a muy buen precio y con raciones bastante generosas. Nos hemos decantado por pizzas. Estaban deliciosas y el personal muy amable y atento. No hemos tenido que esperar y todo limpio y ordenado.

Food was absolutely lovely however didn’t have the wine we would have liked even though it was on menu. Worst thing about this restaurant was that it was very cold people around us had coats on. No ambiance

We went there last november 14 at 7:30pm. We called in before we go there and mentioned that we will be using taste card however, one of the lady staff in the front desk is very rude when we told her about the taste card and she is not very approachable at all. She keeps on blocking what we are saying and never suggested any options nor given us any tables at all eventhough there is a lot of vacancies. I hope you can address this concern as she is very discriminative to customer.
