The best restaurants serving Italian food in South East

Me and my partner came here on 13.02.24 for an early Valentines Day dinner and we had a lovely experience. I had to push my reservation back twice and they were more than happy to do so. By the time we got there we were the only people in the restaurant but they did not try to hurry us at all, the staff were all very jolly and accommodating, one of the waitresses even took a few photos for us. The food was lovely and so was the whole experience. Would recommend to anybody who is looking for nice, authentic Italian food.

I recently dined at Alexandra, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The restaurant is charming, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The owner, a friendly and welcoming lady, adds a personal touch that enhances the dining experience. The food is exceptional, showcasing the high quality of the ingredients used. The caprese salad was fresh and vibrant, with perfectly ripe tomatoes and creamy mozzarella. The antipasti platter was a standout, especially the garlic marinated artichokes. We both had pizzas and were very impressed. Again, more quality ingredients! The chocolate panacota was without doubt the best I've ever had. You can really tell that the food is home made. Not only was the food delicious, but the prices were also very reasonable, offering great value for such high-quality dishes. If you're looking for a fantastic Italian meal in a cozy setting with a touch of personal service, Alexandra is a must-visit.

Always a lovely restaurant to enjoy meals with the family. Children made to feel special and have colouring books on hand and a lollypop on leaving. Staff friendly and helpful.

You really cannot go wrong with the two/three course week day set lunchtime menu £19:95/£22:95. We have been here many times during the week and which ever day we book the restaurant, it is always very busy. This time was no exception but as it was a nice day on Monday 19 August at 13:00 we asked for a table outside under the cover which happened to be just in front of the very impressive new outside pizza oven. Anyway as usual the food is just divine and we all opted for the fixed price three courses. Two of us upgraded our mains and paid the extra £5 supplement and enjoyed the truly superb "Pork Belly". We all had the most wonderful afternoon and our total bill for three courses and drinks was just under £160. We paid a tip separately at the end. If you have never been before it is most certainly worth a visit and we would all highly recommend.

really nice small family run Italian place with good pizza and pasta dishes. it is a friendly restaurant and the service is good. it is better than some of the chain restaurants in town.

Lovely food, nice pub. Limited on drinks - only bitter was IPA, only rose fizz, no light ale

Dined here twice this month, once for dinner and once for lunch, both occasions were most enjoyable experiences. The restaurant is located an hour away from my home and well worth the time spent in travelling to and from. The meals were delicious, sensibly portioned and fairly priced. Giacomo's wine recommendations taste every bit as good as his descriptions. The staff are highly professional and friendly, which adds to the enjoyment. This is fines dining at its best. Well done and thank you to all concerned.

Service was impeccable and food came out very fast. Food was very mediocre and the carbonara tasted of just hot water, not taste at all. Staff were so lovely. Everything did feel slightly rushed and the food was suspiciously quick so makes me feel like it was microwaved.

First visit here after living in the area for almost 30 years….what can I say..wish I’d gone sooner!!!! Went with three friends, greeted with a fantastic welcome followed by wonderful service & food. All faultless, why only 3 stars then you wonder? Put simply two of us felt ripped off, especially given that all things on the menu generally represent excellent value for money. Two of us ordered a particular favourite of Parmigiana Di Melanzane , this is priced at £12 for a starter portion, however we asked for it as a main & our waitress explained that as main it was simply a double portion of the main (she said this was small). We made the mistake of not asking the price. We had (very wrongly) assumed that it would be priced similarly to their other vegetarian dishes (e.g main course veggie cannelloni is £12,95). We were rather shocked when we were charged £24 each, yes, double the starter price, for our mains. Other dishes at this prices (understandably) on the menu are steak/veal type of things. I am always happy to pay a fair price, especially for food well prepared & cooked, however this seemed a ridiculous charge for a dish of aubergine, tomato & cheese, as delicious as it was. My regret is that I didn’t say anything at the time. One never does in situations such as this as it is embarrassing :(((

Didn’t even realise this lovely little restaurant was there and I’ve lived in Tonbridge for years, I definitely know it is there now and will be back. The welcome we received, the service, the food and the atmosphere were all top notch and it was such a fun evening. Topped off by Limoncello, need I say more?!!! Cannot recommend highly enough!

Lovely restaurant ,super staff, however not cheap! Over £3.00 for three small pieces of garlic bread pricey. Most starters over £10.00. Would go back but only for special occasion.

My family had come down to visit me in Broadstairs for my birthday and I had booked for a table of 6 of us for Saturday evening. As a local living at Broadstairs my family and myself have previously been to the restaurant and enjoyed the food. We were looking forward to the experience bit unfortunately on our arrival at the restaurant I was told by a member of staff that I had not made a booking and couldn’t have done so as they had not record. I then showed them proof and details of the call I had made to the restaurant on my phone when I had booked. My daughter showed them a text to her that I had sent immediately after booking . Despite this the member of staff told me I must be lying and could not have made a booking. The whole experience was extremely distressing and we all felt let down and quite honestly horrified by the way that we were treated. As a result I shall never be eating at This restaurant again.
