The best restaurants serving Italian food in Sunderland North East

Muy amable y genial con los niños en nuestra fiesta. La comida era encantadora como siempre ha sido en visitas anteriores. Lo recomiendo absolutamente.

Five of us booked for a meal at 7 pm . Hugely disappointing, we have been going to Marcellos or over 35 years. Seated down stairs , waited ages for drinks order to be taken. Husbanded ordered draft pint of moretti, waited at least 35 minutes for it to be brought , after repeated requests and being told the keg was being changed. Eventually food orders were taken and as we ordered we are told there is no asparagus not thatwe asked for it and asked if we wanted extra spinach instead of asparagus , which we said yes to. The food was fine . We asked for a dessert menu , left it with us while we decided what we wanted to order , decision made and waitress came back and said “ I’ll tell you what we haven’t got” which then reduced the dessert menu to about four items. I ordered pannacotta, a favourite of mine. Two others ordered flat white coffee to be told the coffee machine was broken . Pannacotta arrive a thin watery custard in a glass with some squirty cream and a couple of wafer rolls, it was so liquid it couldn’t stay on the spoon. Two of our party went to the toilets and came reporting that barely a dribble of water came out of the taps for handwashing and the hot air dryer was broken . A waiter asked if everything had been ok and when I said no he wasn’t very happy in fact bordering on rude . My first comment was that we had paper napkins while every other table had linen napkins, his argument to that was they had been very busy and that the paper ones didn’t have to be washed, I pointed out every other table had linens not paper even all the empty tables around us. He then said that we were late in the day coming in ( we booked for 7 pm and arrived a few minutes before that) I takend about the wait for the beer, and the poor quality pannacotta .he didn’t seem to think that anything said was of import. By this time we had asked for the bill three times and it hadn’t arrived so we asked again. Bill arrived and when I went to pay he took off the price of the pannacotta. I was really disappointed, we were there to celebrate a birthday and I’d hoped for a good experience for our family. We won’t return which is sad because we have had many happy times there in the past.

Went to Sambucca on Sunday night with four friends. We were seated and told we must be out by 9pm meaning we had an hour. We were fine with tat but we’re not fine with all but one of the staff standing guard over our table making sure we would be out! And I mean standing over our shoulders glaring at us. It was very unpleasant. The food was very mediocre, in fact Philippa had ordered beef stroganoff and when it arrived it was nothing resembling stroganoff. On a brighter not there is a very lovely waitress from Romania, she really was quite charming.

Great food, the best steak we’ve had in a long time (the chips were amazing too!). Great ambiance even though very busy, and dog friendly too! Definitely worth a try and we will be back soon!

Ordered for a family takeaway on Bank holiday Monday. Ordered arabiata, pollo Ricco, Bolognese and risotto. Everything was absolutely beautiful apart from the pizza, it was burnt and hard like cardboard. amazing apart from that

Absolutely shocking! Farah wants to look at his staffing! What an amazing cook but brought down by his front of house team!

Ordered delivery for a birthday treat, asked for a pizza without any chili's as it was for a young child. Looked OK when it arrived but then found it was covered in chili flakes. I only realised after they'd started eating it. Quite distressing, won't be ordering again FYI for any customers, try Fabio's instead (also in Houghton) it's much nicer

Hice un pedido por teléfono, la persona que tomó mi pedido me pidió que lo repitiera tres veces debido a tener una conversación con otra persona al mismo tiempo. Llamaron y me dijeron las mujeres clientelares que no paraban de referirse a mí como “cariño” esto es lo que ordené cuando en mi opinión era el orden equivocado que obviamente se disputaba. La comida era muy pobre, evita.

La comida era buena una cantidad decente de comida por el precio Me fui por el menú especial de 2 platos al sur el entrante de pudín negro que salió tan rápido, seguido por el risotto de porcini esto era delicioso pero muy rico, ahora mientras que la comida era buena el joven en la barra estaba a la par, tomó órdenes sin embargo tomó tanto tiempo para entender que queríamos pagar por nuestra comida separada y no abrir una pestaña, pregunté y pagué por una bebida sin embargo luego comenzó a tomar la siguiente orden sin servir la mía Tuve que pedir que lo ordenara, que era un poco extraño. Todavía volveré como disfruté de la comida y el ambiente, solo espero que una persona diferente del bar trabaje la próxima vez

Tuve una risa con el camarero cuando me di cuenta de sándwich de dedos fijos y patatas fritas en el menú indicando que me llevó de vuelta a mi infancia cuando me di cuenta. . . el camarero lo recomendó encarecidamente diciéndome los dedos fijos que somos enormes así sucesivamente es recomendación que lo pedí. . . . básicamente eran dos rayas de pescado rebozado no dedos de pescado desafortunadamente la masa estaba empapada en aceite y no comestible, el camarero vino preguntando sobre el medio al que dije gran chip butty ya que había quitado el pescado y me hice un sándwich de patatas fritas. Se ofreció a hacerme otra, pero no lo siento, ya había decidido no la comida para mí ... en la caja, ninguna oferta de un precio reducido ni nada tbh ... me pagó la cuenta y se fue para nunca volver ...

This is my absolute favourite takeaway! Ive been a regular for a while now, and the food is always amazing. I recently tried their Sunday dinner, and it's by far the best I've had in a long time. Highly recommended!

Ordered and paid for, that not was delivered, rang and asked why, " that is what you ordered" No it was not, lady on end of phone hung up.

Used to order at least once a week as loved the food but the last 3/4 times we’ve tried to order we have rang none stop for over half an hour but call fails and comes up “caller busy” as if phone has been taken of the hook. At first we just put it down to them being busy as it often took a while to get through but became ridiculous after a few times. Tried to order tonight and started ringing at 8:05 and rang over 200 times and didn’t manage to get through before they shut. When I messaged last week to ask if they were having issues with their phone they never even bothered to reply. Such a shame as like I say we love the food but don’t think we will bother trying anymore, how they make money to stay open or surprising when they can’t even answer the phone.

I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki for myself, And on its arrival could not believe how bad quality the meat was, full of grissle and fat, This is without doubt the worst thing that has been put in front of me ever. My Partner ordered a chicken wrap and this was no better, with oil coming from the wrap when she squeezed it ! when waitress came over she asked if everything was alright ? I said no, I dont like the look of the meat, She then took the plate away, Saying she would speak to the Chef, She then came back, and said the Chef would recook it with Chicken Breast, I Politely declined and asked for the bill, I certainly wont be going back.
