Novellos in Sunderland

Great food, the best steak we’ve had in a long time (the chips were amazing too!). Great ambiance even though very busy, and dog friendly too! Definitely worth a try and we will be back soon!

I really don’t know why people rave this place! We called in last night was put in the bar as we didn’t have a table booked. Totally and utterly get that, but after starters it took over 30 mins to remove our plates, in fact I had to go over and ask. When the mains come, my sons looked like it been under the grill for an age, my pizza was burnt out and found the food just very average! Not a great experience and cost £90 for the privilege!

Really good food, beautiful Italian restaurant with excellent service. Visited for a Christmas lunch with friends. I had halloumi fries and the glazed beef with Parmesan fries. Will definitely be back.

We called in here after we had been for a walk. Sat outside has we had our dog with us. Dogs are allowed in the bar area. Next time we go I think we may have food.

An amazing Sunday lunch as always 😍 Pink sirloin beef serviced with roast veg and suede/carrot mash, lots of gravy and a huge Yorkshire!

Pasta & side of chips for £18. Disappointing especially for this price. Pasta was yesterday’s and overcooked and the chips were terrible had to bin them. Not fresh at all. Been here a few times and always been decent but it was a quiet night so no excuse

We had a meal here for the first time & it was lovely , very busy at 6.30 on a monday evening , staff were pleasant & service was very good. The food was very good best we have had in an italian in a long time , only complaint was the Chicken in peppercorn sauce was served i a shallow bowl, the sauce could have been thicker as it was runny , also a plate would have been ideal. But we all commented on how good the food was. Will certainly reccomend & visit again.

Excellent Italian food, so flavoursome and portions plentiful. A really lovely friendly atmosphere in modern surroundings. I’ve visited a few times and always enjoyed. However our last visit was a busy Saturday evening and I noticed they were very short staffed which unfortunately affected the normally excellent service. We waited to order drinks then food, tables went cleared of glasses. They just seemed really overstretched. Which was a shame because it’s normally nothing short of perfect. Also the cocktail menu was all very sweet drinks nothing sour or bitter. The old cocktail menu was so much better. The food was outstanding as usual though

Great service from a polite young staff. Food was very good. Served hot on hot plates. The scotch egg starter was excellent, well presented! Highly recommended

Very nice and plentiful food. Decent service and reasonable price. Portion size was big. Surroundings in and out of the restaurant were pleasant.

I have been to this restaurant lots of times and never had a bad meal. The food is delicious and the staff are very attentive. I have noticed that a few poor reviews mention Gosforth. This is the Novellos in Washington. I can’t it recommend it highly enough. I went last night with a friend and once again it was delicious. I must say it’s not the usual potato skins and pizza Italian restaurant so if that’s what people are looking for go else where. It’s good Italian food at reasonable prices.
