Been in tonight for our wedding anniversary meal what absolutely lovely staff. Couldn't do enough for us. The food was beautiful my husband had there famous tomahawk steak it was huge. Lovely surroundings plenty of room to get parked outside will definitely be back

Visited for carvery Sunday lunch which was delicious. Prices very reasonable. Tables clean and tidy. Daughter loved the large cake slice for desert. Staff member Rachel was very helpful and professional nothing seemed too much for her.a credit to the team. I will return.

Been here a few times and always amazing! The staff are friendly, food is always spot on and the portions are huge! Mid Week Carvery for 6.95 you can't go wrong on a Wednesday and the 3 courses for a tenner is ideal. Highly recommend 👌

Absolutely disgraceful customer service from this restaurant. Ordered lunches through Uber eats app for 1:15 - 1:45 delivery. Got an update to say would be here by 2:10 as running late. Still nothing by 2:30 so rang restaurant. Got informed they were very busy, no apology offered told it would be out with the next driver. By 3pm nothing so rang again and again got told they were busy. Fair enough they are busy but if they can’t cope with that they shouldn’t take the orders and should be honest with people instead of giving them attitude over the phone. Have a diabetic relative who needs to eat at certain times with insulin so it is not acceptable to simply delay our meal for two and a half hours without any communication!!! Please employ some politer staff as well!! Sad thing is the food was delicious when it finally arrived but we won’t be ordering again and will be telling family and friends the same!!

stars I give it 1 star for effort from a single member of staff who was apologetic and did try. We waited 1h15mins for food, a waitress bought 1 steak meal out....for the 2 of us! That meal went back to the kitchen. 10mins later we received our starters which were lovely. After a good 30mins another waitress served us a single steak meal, dumped it on the table and left. Im quite certain it was the one from previous. We waited a few minutes for the second meal but nothing arrived. The waitress came by us and i asked her where our other meal was, she was bemused that we ordered 2 meals for 2 people! Eventually the steak meal was taken back to the kitchen. And we waited again... Finally 2 steak dinners arrived.....1 quite hot and fresh meal and 1 burnt ,dry and hardly warm to the touch and swimming in oil. Absolutely disgusting, a shambolic way to run a restaurant, staff were definitely not trained in service or hospitality. Extremely disappointing evening out.

We waited over 1 hour for food and the order was wrong,the steak my son had was absolutely a mess what got sent back. Not sure if it's a new chef.our desserts was forgotten about so we left them. I felt so sorry for the 2 young girls what was running the service. We definitely can't be the first to complain because the service was disgusting. I think the manage should be seeing what is going on because it was not good and spoilt my birthday meal. Other people what was in the pub at the time said the way it was ran wasn't good and its not the same.you were asking for a drink and you would get forgotten about.

Was a family gathering of 7 of us wanting to try somewhere else for a meal… It was a nightmare. We got there at 7pm and placed our food order about 7:15pm. We should have known what to expect when we ordered the drinks, We were told they would bring them to the table, 10 minutes later, no sign of the drinks. We went back to the counter and the drinks were left there. We asked if that was ours, they said yes, no apology for just leaving them and we took them to the table ourselves. In the time waiting for food, we could multiple calls of people who placed orders on the phone what had not arrived. Every time the staff would say on the phone we will prioritise yours next and then just go back to chatting with each other after ending the call One customer was even told on the phone the delivery driver had forgotten to pick up the order and is on the way back All the girls did behind the bar was just chat with each other. Wasn't until we asked where our food was, as it had been an hour and 15 minutes since we ordered, they went to go check and came back saying plating up now and be 10 minutes. Food finally turned up, no apology for the wait, just a "watch that white thing, it's hot".... The "white thing" is called a plate. One order was missing the sides, we chased twice and then 15 minutes later (for a few chips and garlic bread) they came out with them where everyone else had almost finished their meals. We were never told of the wait time for food, otherwise we would have gone elsewhere. To top this awful experience off, we had a disabled family members who relies on a motor wheelchair. We informed the lady on the phone when booking of this.l and she said that is absolutely fine. There are no toilets for disabled users and this left her very upset and distressed. But the staff just don't care Management should be ashamed of this place. Avoid at all cost. I would give a 0/10 if I could.

From start to end first class service.Table booked via app on Facebook easy to do.Mid week carvery ,roast beef,Yorkshire pudding and all fresh vegetables,mash,roast potatoes,swede mash carrots cabbage and peas on offer,hot and delicious.Dessert I had the ice cream just like from an ice cream man delicious,other half had sticky toffee pudding with custard.Plus two cokes £19.50 can’t go wrong.

Absolutely would not recommend ordering a Sunday lunch from here! Waited 2 hours and it was barely warm. Portion size for what we paid for was shocking also!

Great food last night at the Alex, we both really enjoyed time there. Better half had the belly pork with the mustard mash, I ordered chicken kiev pizza. Lovely could not fault food or service. Managed half of pizza quite big rest was boxed to take home. Thank you chef Sean and kitchen, cheers restaurant team. Very good value here, recommend giving it a go if you are hungry enough.

I ordered the rump steak for my main course and it was so tough i couldn't eat it, the last time I was here the steak was great, but this time it was raw and tough, I found the whole evening very disapointing, the service was ok and I should have complained but thought they will gather something is wrong when they see the discarded steak on the plate.It looks like it could be pot luck for a good meal.

Good food and staff. they had a special offer on three course for £10. and we all enjoyed it. I had soup,steak,icecream. Everyone enjoyed their meals.

Staff are excellent friendly and attentive. Food is absolutely delicious! Crispy belly pork is A favourite of ours! And the kids meals are fabulous!

Came in a foil tray (heated dinner up in oven, microwaved the separate gravy tub) tasty and filling (large option), good selection of veg, the pork and beef meats were tasty/tender.

Called in here for lunch. Ordered from the specials menu. Ordered the chicken wings which were really soggy. I expected a nice crisp skin but it was mushy and soggy. Nice flavour thow. Had a steak and salad for main which I can’t fault. Cooked lovely and delicious. Staff were all friendly and really quick service.

This was our first visit after hearing good things. Table was booked for 630pm we arrived 625pm and ordered drinks at the bar and shown to our table. It was then 655 before someone came to take our order. It seemed there were 3 members of staff but only one capable or trusted to take orders. The food (2 x ribeye steaks) came out after another 25 minutes. Both steaks were cooked well however we were both left with a charcoal taste from the grill.I was really looking forward to trying the Alexandra but left a little disappointed

Two steaks ordered one medium rare the other medium well as a surf on turf. Both delivers exactly as requested. Well done to the chef. Staff are great as always, I honestly can't fault this place. Where we were seated in the corner next to the door is a bit cramped when the other tables around are being used but that would fault if any. I would recommend to any wanting to come here to book up as they were turning away customers. I would also recommend to the owners to get their location changed on the trip advisor map. If you do an area search it doesn't come up. That's because the map has you in North Shields.

Arrived about 6ish on 19/06/19 asked for a table for 3 staff member with short grey/blond hair scurried over she asked me if i had booked i said no she then replied we are full and walked away from us, i was quite shocked at our reception with this member of staff.I visit here at least 1 a week also have had deliveries to work and always fantastic service and food is fantastic..

Our group came here for a birthday celebration. I had pre booked a table as there was a big group of us and good job I did as it was busy. Drinks are very reasonably priced, a pint of amstel and a pint of coke for just over a fiver. Prices for food are very reasonable priced too for both starters and mains. Food portions were huge for starters and mains. 7 of us all ordered starters and mains and it came to £100. Would definitely visit again

This is the first time we have visited this place . What can I say the service was good foods was fantastic I had surf and turf . Steak was cooked to perfection and the grilled prawns to die for . Margaret has the vegetarian option of Chinese veg curry rice and chips .

this was first and last visit had starters which after arriving had to go and ask for cutlery to eat with , our mains arrived there was only three ordering a variation of steaks one ok, one edible third only just warm sent this back saying i didn't want warm steak girl said sorry took it away and waited ,waited my other guest were finished their meal ,when a member of staff said the girl who took meal away didn't think i wanted another ,she didn't ask if i required the same or something else ,even when we were advised what has happened to my meal staff didn't ask if i would like to order something else ,once we had sent meal back their attitude changed to total indifference . would not be recommending this establishment to anyone ,i don't think the other steak houses in Sunderland have anything to worry about regarding service and quality of food .

Great value. Sharing platter starters amazeballs. So much food. Everyones Mains also great from cornedbeef pie, chicken kiev to rumpvsteak cooked to perfection. Service good altho seemed to be too few on for people in. Not complaining tho as they worked their socks off. Good night out

Best meal I’ve had in a long time eating out! I had the black pudding fritter to start which was amazing and very generous portions too, I could barely eat my main. My daughter had the soup and steak pie and we were both blown away by how tender the steak was and again by how generous the portions were. Top marks to the chef and very friendly service too! Would definitely recommend and I will be going again.

Had a nice meal with some good friends the place was quite quiet but this was better for us as had some kids in toe the food was nice and of good quality the bill was extremely reasonable would go back happily as would the entire group was impressed

I ordered the surf and turf medium rare which is hard to get right and it was cooked to perfection. The the chicken Alexander which is her go to meal when we're here and again she loved it. The staff as always were great and friendly. If you've not been here you're missing out

Been here today for friends daughters christening it was all done out lovely and plenty of room the food was lovely a buffet with plenty selection of sandwiches cheese board and spring rolls quiche and pastries drinks were reasonably priced as well

Carvery food was lovely. Shame the toilets are absolutely disgusting. Really lets the place down. I was talking to a lady who said she had complained last year to the manager about this and they still have not done anything about it.

First time here. Greeted by nice waitress who showed us to our table, brought our drinks and then took our order. I ordered a medium sirloin with a jacket potato instead of chips and my husband ordered a medium to rare ribeye. Young girl brought out our meals and I told her the sirloin was mine and the ribeye was the husbands ..Jacket potato was steaming hot and the rest of the meal was lukewarm ...When I cut into my steak it was rare, my husband cut into and it was on the verge of well done. ....Wrong steak on each meal so we swopped. Very thin Sirlion but tender but like I say near to well done, timings out in kitchen all the food should have been served hot !! Asked for bill and it was "shoved " on the table with a "there's yer bill" oh and nee bother. think management need to carry out more training with some of the staff as they need it ...overall food was ok and prices are fine. .. ..

The service was average, the meal was not to my standards, but very fair for the price - just friends popping in for teatime. I would not go again.

Can not fault the Alexandra steak house brilliant sevice by friendly staff and meals are lovely been here a few times and never had a bad meal great value for the amount of food thank you brilliant as usual never been disappointed staff even brought a slice of cake and a candle for dads birthday very thoughtful great customer service

Second visit to the Alexandra and we were not dissatisfied. This is an excellent restaurant, first of all the amount of food you get will not allow you to leave any other way than ‘stuffed’. The staters were large, I had half a rack of ribs, another guest ordered pate, didn’t have the one she wanted ,offered her an alternative free of charge.

I normally go the the ranch in Seaham but I decided to give this a try as I have heard good reports. Parking was no problem firstly. I booked a table for 5 and when I arrived they tried to give me a booth which I was not happy with. Its a Saturday night and the booth section looked more like a cafe, the people sitting there were only drinking and each booth had a mini TV screen which I did not want. I was given a table which was better in the main section. Choice was very good for meals and I chose a T Bone Steak, main issues were service. Having to get up to find someone to order another drink being quite poor. Also my wife ordered Fajitas which came advertised with dips etc (as all fajitas do) and they delivered them without. I mentioned it and they acted surprised that we wanted dips and ended up with two pretty poor ones (sweet chili and another) in pretty poor standard paper pots. Overall my steak was ok, general feedback on food was not bad but for value, service and quality I was a bit disappointed this being our Saturday night out. I wont bother again im afraid. Also the toilets was pretty dreadful, was not very happy taking my 3 year old girls in the mens.

parking outside can be a bit tricky as its overlooking the main roundabout. That said there is ample parking in the surrounding areas. The entrances are one to the corner pub only section and one to the main restaurant. On our visit, we hadn't booked and found we were more than welcome. We were shown to a nice seated area and given menus, the staff were very pleasant and asked for our drinks.

Visited a few weeks ago early evening on a Saturday. Restaurant was busy enough but we were seated near the front bar without a problem. This being my first visit and hearing mixed views I was pleasantly surprised with my meal. I had the loaded skins and chicken arrabiatta. It was not a stunning/memorable dish, but it was nice enough. The portion sizes are generous and for the price I couldn't complain.

Just happened to call in here out of the rain. We hadn’t booked but staff managed to get us a table. Food was lovely. Staff were very efficient and friendly and I am impressed with the re fit of the restaurant. Can strongly recommend.

We are frequent diners at the Alex and took family on20 July for a birthday meal. The place was realy busy and we were informed that the food would be a wait of approx 40 mins which we didn't mind. When it arrived it was superb. We had thought as they were so busy that it might not be quite up to its usual standard but that was far from it. Piping hot and as great as ever. To top it off the waitress came to us after we had finished and gave all six of us a piece of gateau to take away as a gesture of goodwill for the long wait. Other diners were also given the same. Thank you to everyone at the Alex.

Visited here the other day and I woke up absolutely reeking of garlic. I have no idea how. I had a mixed grill.

Came here tonight after spending 4 days in magaluf on a lads holiday were the hotel food was disgusting ..needed a good feed and BOY did i get it hear...service was so quick food was beautiful..i recomend the 28oz tommahawk steak unreal..i just cudnt finish it all as i ate loads of nachos b4..bad reviews in here are probably other restaraunts making it look bad ....defo be returning

We got there early but was still bissy but got shown to our seats after got drink we got tickets for our meal we had 4 meats the beef was fantastic all the veg was hot after that the sweets were just as good the price was very goog

Came here for a family meal, never been before for food, even though I don't live far. Read reviews and they were mixed but I love trying new places.

Visited on the 8/3/2018 evening did not book was told we would have to wait for our food for 40 minutes as it was busy but it was only about 15 the food was lovely so will go again.

We went on the off chance that we would get a table, the staff were very helpful and friendly, the carvery looked fresh and plentiful. We had hunters chicken and surf and turf with a side order of muscles. The chicken was succulent and very tasty. I myself had the steak it was cooked to perfection, the best I've had for a long long time. I've paid a lot more in so called top eateries and was not as good as here. if you want good food at good prices give it a go.

Lovely food, well worth the money we had a sharing platter that served 4 adults and a well fed toddler! The main food was delicious and plentiful and the deserts were AMAZING! The toughest critic our 18month old loved his food and wanted more!! Drinks reasonably priced and staff were wonderful!

Can’t say more that the title. Attended a party but the night was terrible. Bar staff were completely useless and so miserable, three people at the bar and they couldn’t work out who was next, I asked for 2 drinks and had to tell them three time what I wanted. Food was bland and the decor doesn’t look like it has been changed for the past 10 years. This coupled with the smell from the toilets just added a cherry on the cake. Not that they would have put a cherry on a cake. Avoid, avoid, avoid, there are much better venues in Sunderland.

Just came from the alex after dinner, the new decor and seating and carpets are really nice , its warm and very welcoming, menu amazing ,hard to chose what to have , tonight i had pate and rib and chicken combo , food was so good fresh and hot and so nice a big thank you to cheif and kitchen staff , evey time we come here we are warmly welcomed and staff cant do enough to help , a BIG thank you to you all we were celebrating being married 35 yr , and it couldnt have been better i would say try the alex u wont be disapointed , thanks again

Went there for our works Xmas party and the food was a carvery everything home cooked it's was absolutely lovely. Yorkies were like door stoppers just how they should be. Even the gravy was tasty. The hall was a bit out dated and they could of had more staff serving behind the bar to accommodate their customers as it was full. Other than that I would definitely recommend for your Xmas party the atmosphere was great too, canny entertainment also. Good night all round.

Wonderful staff the food was beautiful 18 meals without a fault steaks cooked to perfection and the garlic mushroom portion is like a main meal can't wait for next time keep up the good work

Went for Carvery with husband today. Staff are always lovely, especially Paula, our favourite. Good choice of meat and veg. Delicious, would have said excellent if it had just been a little warmer. Good value and very tasty.

Myself and a friend had been talking about trying the alex steakhouse for a while and decided to go one night around 7. We arrived and stood for a good five minutes before being asked if we would like a table. The man that approached us did not smile once, and approached us by saying “it will be a good 45 minutes mind”. To which I said “what? To be seated?” (While looking at lots of empty tables)...

Recently visited the alexandra for sunday lunch ,we booked for230 pleased we did as it was absolutely packed,this is always a good sign as far as I'm concerned when eating out .we were a party of 4 adults and a child we all chose different meats and we all were more than happy with the beef pork turkey and gammon.the choice of 6 veg plus roasties,a giant yorkshire pudding and stuffing balls went down a treat .well done again staff at the Alex it was a beautiful sunday lunch well worth the money .

Me and my partner went for breakfast after hearing mixed reviews about the place and we wish we had never went! The food was dry and overcooked because it was left for to long even the beans were dry! They asked if I would like a fried egg and when they came they went cooked properly and had egg shells in them! They asked if we would like refill drink and once we played they told us it was only the juice which was on the table and very warm! Would NOT recommend here for breakfast to anyone!

Heard quite lot about this so thought we would give it ago went for main menu hubby had ribs to start these were dry he asked for extra sauce cold sauce warm ribs really I had pate tasty we decided to order 16oz steak rump that was more like minute steak I wanted mine medium it come over done chips were greasy and whole meal tasteless I have had so much better else were and better value I don't mind pay extra for good meal this was not worth it atmosphere flat won't return sorry

Lovely steaks cooked to your preference, staff very helpful and friendly. Loved having a gravy boat to go with hot beef sandwich and chips. Picture shows the tomahawk with bone removed.

Yet again a fab tea ,went on a Tuesday teatime for a family tea and we went disappointed,me and my partner chose to eat from the 2for 10 pounds Monday to Friday special ,the mince and dumplings with veg was really tasty and filling ,as for the homemade cornbeef pie !!!!wow a huge portion of homemade pie with chips and mushy peas was lush.there was 16 of us eating and I can say we enjoyed it very much .thanks to Paula for giving the 3 little ones some ice cream which they enjoyed too ,just deciding what day this week to go back for tea .I would highly recommend this eatery for lovely homemade food .

Popped in while passing haven't eaten here since stirks had it, but food was nice service was a bit slow and dips served in paper pots like McDonald's but wouldn't put us off visiting again

Shower up about 1145, even though was due to be manic they seated us. No rush to finish and be in and out. Food was delicious, all fresh. And it always tastes better when someone else has cooked. Staff very helpful to make sure everything was on. Got a desert for after which was fresh too.

Often come here for tea and the 2 courses for £8.95 deal is great. Amazing potato skins and chicken kiev pizza. I would also recommend the steak, chips and peppercorn sauce. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and nothing is too much to ask from them. We often visit with children who eat free per adult!

Recently visited the alexandra for a Wednesday carvery it was 530 ish we were seated promptly ,went straight up for the carvery and we weren't disappointed it was fresh hot and really tasty,well worth the money definitely going back.

We have been going here for the last couple of months almost on a weekly basis and the food is really good, they have a very extensive menu to choose from. I nearly always have my grandson with me and they eat free when you pay for an adults meal.

Lovely choise on the early bird menu lots of food for the price . Could do with a bit better wine choise. Sunday dinner is good but very busy indeed be back soon thanks

Visited the Alexandra Texas steakhouse to be very disappointed! Poor lady serving,cleaning,pouring,clearing was run ragged on her own so was not to blame, but the starter garlic bread took 40 mins to arrive and to be fair was delicious! And the only reason I'm giving 2 stars and not less. There was only 1 other table of 4 being served before us as the place was empty but non the less was over 1 hour before the mains came. My partner chose lasagne that was tasteless, bland and the chips greasy. I went for the tomahawk steak well done that was cremated! Very very very well done I would describe it, or black, burnt would be another! A well done piece of any meat should still resemble a piece of meat, lighter greyish in colour as the blood is cooked and not black and crunchy. Chips were also greasy. I did eat the steak as I was starving having waited so long otherwise I would have sent it back for something easy to cook like chicken. I told the waitress it was black but she said I asked for well done? I didn't want to argue so settled up never to return.Don't waste your money if you love steaks!

2 courses for £8.95. Food was great and large portions for the price my only gripe was the sofas are too low for the table but chairs too high. Pepper on the steak was on the high side any more and it would have ruined it but for me was about as much as I would have liked. Perhaps a lighter touch on seasoning would be better.

We visited as a last minute 'lets find somewhere for dinner' and I have heard a few good things about it so we thought we would try it. Sunday Carvery, I think it was around £7.50 per adult, choice of two meats, decent size plate. I can honestly say it has been a very very long time since I had a Sunday dinner that good! Everything cooked spot on, couldn't fault it!

8 of us visited here yesterday around 2pm. Sadly it did not live up to expectations. There was still plenty of meat to choose from but the veg left a lot to be desired. The carrots had just been replenished so they were hot. There wars only a few new potatoes left so most of us had to have mash.I personally am not a lover of cauliflower or turnip but that's my problem. What I do love is roast parsnip and they were on the menu. Sadly apart from the carrots the rest was only Luke warm,we all commented that the food realy was not of a good standard. The staff were friendly especially with the children. I don't think we will return in a hurry. One other point is I have had a tummy upset all last night and today,I don't know if this could be related to the food or not as it obviously was not at the correct temperature and as it was only myself it's not certain it was the food from there that caused it but I don't suffer from this type of thing usually hence why I say I wouldn't return too soon.

We visited on Bank Holiday Monday and found a table straight away, the staff ok our drinks and food order within 10 minutes of us being seated. Then it started to go wrong, new arrivals were being told it was an hour wait for food, nobody came back to us with an update on serving time. After 58 minutes our meals arrived with the Mashed Potato cold on the bottom, and Belly Pork strip almost to the texture of beef jerky. The pork had been left under the grill too long, and the mashed potato had been served onto cold plates possibly before the pork was ready.The woman who took payment was apologetic and we were discounted the cost of one meal, although both were identical. We had heard good reviews of this place and were so disappointed with our first, and most probably only, visit here.

What can I say apart from great. Great food, great staff. We ordered a starter of chicken coujons and chicken wings. Both where big enough to be a main meal. Our mains where surf and turf for the wife and rump steak for me. Both cooked to perfection. You didn't need a steak knife to cut them, hand cut chips. Great, seasoned well cooked better. Staff friendly and jovial. You'll miss out if you're a steak lover and you don't try this place.

Had to wait for table even though very few in the place. Waited over half an hour and even then had to go and find the waiter to take the order and as I have already said, they weren't busy. After another long wait we still had to go to the bar to see where the order was. Food was edible but not very appetising. Our seating was all marked with dried food stains not nice to sit on when you are wearing decent clothes. Needless to say I won't be back.

Visited on a Thursday morning quite busy standed cooked breakfast with a good range including roast tattes in cheese and red onion unlimited dinks for a £

Went for a family lunch and was pleased with the large range of choices on the menu.The soup starter was very good and we were all happy with the good quality of the food. The serving staff were very helpful . The only negative for me was the time waiting between courses which I always dislike wherever I eat. Having said that it showed the food was cooked from fresh and not just heated from frozen.

We have been here three times now for Sunday Dinner, and the meals and service are fantastic. I would recommend this pub to anyone. Other parts of the pub could do with an upgrade on the decor.

Overcharged, average food , didn't have the starter I wanted, but the waitress was friendly and funny

This place continues to not only maintain its standards but to improve on them. The menu continues to please and the portions are always more than adequate. The carvery we both had was excellent and the welcome given by all the staff we met was such that it made us want to come back again. Paula and Louise, our waiting staff still provide an excellent service with a smile. We're back again tomorrow!

Staters took over an hour and a half to arrive, not the best food. The mains took over 2 hours to come and were inedible. Staff were stressed due to many more people complaining than just our group.

We went for dinner and I can only say it was amazing I had loaded skins for a starter but to be honest it was so big could have been a main it was lovely we both had a pizza I had spag bol pizza it was lovely but too much took half home. We often eat here and its really worth a try staff couldn't be more helpful (our grandson has an egg allergy and the staff do their most to make sure he doesn't come in tontac with egg )a big thank you to you all xxx

Visited as a rare treat meal out with my partner and daughter today. We can not fault the food although we waited longer than expected in an empty restaurant on a Friday afternoon it was tasty, hot and fresh with generously sized potrions for both adult and children's meals.Unfortunately the service was shocking at one point out of three staff one was sitting half asleep on a chair, one applying her make up behind the bar and the other was getting into her work uniform at the bar. We waited a long time for service despite making requests that were made to feel like an inconvenience. I asked where the changing facilities to change my daughters nappy were and the waitress seemed to take pleasure in saying there are no facilities. This left us with the table area or a toilet floor. Won't be visiting again.

Tuesday evening and there was a table of four seated and three adults and a child walking in in front of us. Everyone else was eating from the two courses for £8.95 menu. We chose pie and chips. Waited about 25 minutes but when it arrived it was tasty and hot. The surroundings are tired and the server was polite but lacked any depth of personality. It's amazing the difference a cheery service can make. Value for money but I won't lose sleep if I don't return simply because the place lacks human warmth.

We visited this restaurant on the 6th January 2017 for a family meal to celebrate our daughters 19th birthday. We were a party consisting of 10 adults and 1 child. Its been a long time since we have been here for food and OMG what a fantastic meal we all had, the food is absolutely lovely. Between us we had a reasonable range of different main courses, mine being the good old steak and ale pie with chips and mushy peas, I even asked for some extra gravy but I need not have bothered as when I took the top off the pie it was full of large chunks of steak with plenty of rich tasty gravy. Another dish, unfortunately I am unable to give it it's correct name which my mother had and enjoyed, was a chicken dish with prawns in a garlic and curry sauce with boiled rice chips and prawn crackers. Then onto the desserts. I had a sponge cake and custard, my daughter a waffle type dessert and another one was a cheese cake. The dessert portions left me and the daughter waving the white flag as we were full up, they were big, big portions. Over all to sum our visit up We all enjoyed our meals and the staff were very friendly and can now add another venue to the list of places to use when we are looking to eat out. A big thank-you to all the staff concerned.

I've not patronised this establishment for a number of years - last lunchtime visit was, frankly, just too awful to risk attempting a return trip. Service was dreadful, food even worse. It might well be under new management by now but just cannot sum-up the courage to even give it a whirl.
