The best restaurants serving Italian food in England

Waiter and waitress went above and beyond to make our time here as special as possible! With a surprise birthday brownie at the end of the meal! Thank you thank you thank you for such an incredible evening! We will definitely be coming back!

Excellent meal however prices were ~50% (excluding service charge) more expensive than advertised on the website.

The team really looked after us well, and we we a big group of 18 for my daughter's 21st. Sat upstairs, every person enjoyed their food and all meals arrived at very similar times. It was also Easter sunday - very impressed

Service was so bad, food took incredibly long to come out and when it did, the waitress kept asking us if we wanted to pack our food up or if we were still going (mid eating!). We had to ask several times for out starters as it took over 45 minutes to come out. The restaurant was well overpriced in relation to the very poor service.

Fabulous Restaurant Greg the manager & his team all great really looked after us all 5 in the family went above & beyond...it was my daughter-in-law's birthday.. my sons had never been to this venue.. they will returning soon.. 😀

Fantastic food, excellent customer service

Absolutamente increíble, la comida estaba caliente, fresca y cocinada a la perfección. El personal era muy amable. Me sentí un poco apresurado después de cada curso, así que terminé diciendo educadamente ¿podemos por favor tener un poco de tiempo antes de que el próximo curso sea comprado, me sentí un poco como si quisieran mesas para ser limpiadas rápidamente para la próxima llegada, aprecio que es una ventana de 2 horas, y no había manera de que hubiéramos sido groseros para quedarse o desafiarlo. Very popular Italian Style cafe in a quiet square.

Group of 6 went for early evening meal. It was excellent. All the food was so good. A great menu with an additional, comprehensive specials menu. Loved the guys theory... sun up, walk in; sun down, need to book! It gets busy. Many thanks for a super meal.

We visited this restaurant while staying in Pickering for a few days .The garlic prawns to start were superb and we both had cannelloni which was also lovely . The staff were very attentive. Will definitely return when in the area .

Great food Authentic atmosphere Wonderful location

The restaurant was very clean and inviting. The staff are attentive at all times and they always do what they can to help you.. I have been there many times and have always found the food to be of a high standard, they also catered for my dietary need. The staff are polite and work as a team. They go out of their way to give you a great dining experience, especially Jane and Thazmin. I definitely recommend dining at the Picaasdo Express restaurant to everyone.

Unfortunately, our recent experience here was a letdown. We arrived early and weren’t even offered drinks until 20 minutes later, despite only a few tables being occupied. Starters took an hour to arrive, and shockingly, one had a short black hair in it. The mains didn’t redeem the night either. We remembered the pizzas being amazing on a visit two years ago, but this time they were honestly awful. Service was inattentive — staff seemed more interested in chatting, and I even received the wrong drink. I’m giving an extra star because it seemed like they had good intentions, but overall, the experience was poor. Sadly, I wouldn’t return.

It’s worth browsing the reviews of Embers before placing an order—not because they’re wildly inconsistent, but because a clear pattern emerges. And it’s not one the place seems eager to correct. There are, to be fair, plenty of people who’ve had a good experience. When it works, it works, artisan bases, decent toppings, the kind of pizza that scratches the right itch. But what stands out, time and again, is the front of house. Not rude exactly, but distinctly uninterested, as though they’re doing you a favour by taking your takeaway order. And the hour-long wait for three pizzas? Apparently fine. Normal, even. What tips that from forgivable to frustrating is what happens when something goes wrong. One of our pizzas was supposed to come with a soft-boiled egg. It arrived with no egg at all. After returning to point it out, the pizza was taken back, only to re-emerge minutes later with a refrigerated hard-boiled egg dumped on top. Stone cold. By that point, so was the pizza. When I mentioned it, the response was a casual “That’s the best we can do.” No apology, no fix, no sense that anyone cared. And that, really, is the issue. Not the mistake, but the indifference. So yes, plenty of people enjoy Embers when all goes to plan. But if it doesn’t, don’t expect much in the way of care or correction. Just a cold egg on a cold pizza—and a shrug.
