The best restaurants in United Kingdom serving Italian food

My husband planned a surprise birthday meal for me, and it turned out there were ten of us. The rest of the party had pre-ordered their food, they allowed me to choose as soon as I got there. The food and drink service was prompt as always. Delicious meals, plentiful portions and piping hot. Our server Daniel is always polite, friendly and obliging, knowledgeable about the menu. We’ve been here many times and we’ll be coming back again for sure. It’s an intimate little restaurant but perfectly capable of accommodating a large party.

En primer lugar la comida: Es poco aventurero, bellamente cocinado, presentado y servido, y asquerosamente, el cabello - cada vez más caro. En cuanto al aspecto del lugar, podría haber sido diseñado por un comité de obispos medievales, o posiblemente la selección de fútbol de Inglaterra. El cardenal Wolsey conoce a los Beckham. Birley presumiblemente visitó Versalles, tomó algunas fotos y decidió que era justo lo que Mayfair necesitaba. Lamentablemente para él, la clase real siempre es discreta. La actitud moderna -en gran medida transatlántica- que requiere que los de vasta riqueza se aseguren de que todos los demás lo sepan, no seguirá de moda por mucho tiempo.

My food was ok. My friends was cold and had a very strong aftertaste of what we think was olive oil. The music was very loud so it was not a relaxing atmosphere. The waiter took my friends dishes away before I had finished and then we realised he had taken our pot of tea as well. Won’t return.

Been to the restaurant a few times before but today was total disappointment! We (just two of us) arrived and there were a few empty tables and the waiter came and told us that all the empty tables were fully booked, even though the restaurant has two floors. We have been here before when the restaurant was very busy and this never happened. We never complained before when the food took a long time to be served, since it’s good—but this experience was totally disappointing and not recommended at all. This restaurant does walk-ins as well as bookings and might be expected to be prepared for the Bank Holiday being busy. Edit : this happened on 5th of May around 12noon, there were a few empty table at that time and the waiter came and asked if we have a booking, we said no as this is our 5th visit to the restaurant and he directly said its fully booked and asked us to come 3-4 hours later while we know that the restaurant has 2 floor seating arrangements. It is so unreasonable as on the restaurant website it doesn’t say “requires booking” plus its only 2 of us. Again when we visited the restaurant before, when its full, the Italian waiter just politely asked us to wait 15-20 minutes which its fine and we kist waited. It is so disappointing and even though the food was amazing, but the service makes me not want to visit your restaurant again.

Good Italian produce, but the place needs a good clean and the portions are underwhelming. Not everything needs to be drowned in balsamic

We tried this restaurant for the first time at the weekend and are pleased we did. The place has a good atmosphere .The food was very enjoyable and served by very pleasant staff.

Had been recommended this Italian by a local for a family birthday. Greeted warmly by restaurant staff, water on arrival, attentive service. Unfortunately we were next to a table that various suited/booted parents dropped 9 of their free-range charges with a handful of timid 'grown-ups' whilst en route to the Club, I suspect. Food was excellent, the staff was amazing dodging these young teenagers leaving chairs untucked in the staff's wake whilst they slammed toilet doors, daring each other to run in the kitchen and generally getting under people's feet. When they did sit down, volume control was clearly not in their gifts. Thought the restaurant staff did an excellent job at trying to make our meal an enjoyable experience despite the crèche like conditions other diners had developed. Would definitely go back but perhaps on a school night when hopefully these youths are not there. The restaurant was far from a let down but the locals certainly were.

I ate here tonight with six of my friends for a birthday celebration. We had a lovely round table by the window. The evening was exceptional and I cannot recommend this lovely Italian highly enough. Firstly, the service: The restaurant was very busy with around ten tables occupied. There was one waitress and the manager doing the whole service yet we were treated like Royalty. Service was punctual, friendly and warm with nothing being too much trouble. The food was absolutely delicious all round. We started with garlic bread to share, several platters which I know is quite a basic dish but it was the best I’ve ever tasted. Most of us had either veal or chicken plus one ravioli. We all agreed that the quality was superb and was thoroughly enjoyed. We will definitely be back again soon

The food is severely overpriced for what it is. Waited 2 hours for your food to come out, very disappointed. Apparently the chef didn’t turn up…

Nice restaurant Very busy. Menu has a large selection of apparent traditional Italian dishes with a few other cuisines also represented on the menu. We both went for the half and half (half pizza half pasta) these were still large portions. One interesting thing to note were the spring onions in both the carbonara and the pasta Alfredo. Not an ingredient we have had in Italian pastas before.

Visited 5th may. Arancini was great, steak was cooked as per request (m/r) and seasoned really well, I could have eaten it easily without sauce. Panacotta very good. My daughters burger was full of flavour. Service was on point as well..will definitely go again :)

We had 2 great evening meals at la bocca, staff were excellent and friendly and the food was also excellent we would highly recommend this place
