The best restaurants in United Kingdom serving Italian food

Good atmosphere but average food and service. Frutti di mare pasta is average, not fresh prawn. Carbona is awful. Octopus in tomato sauce is chewy, rubbery and tough. Not a great place. The only good thing is the fish tank.

Lovely food, friendly staff. Portions are big (pizza/pasta). Gluten free menu available, would be nice to see either a gf pizza or a pasta on the menu though

So so good! Went for Valentine’s Day, we have family in Italy so are fussy about Italian food and mamma Mia this hit the mark! Lovely bubbly human service with a smile and the food was outstanding, pizza and pasta cooked to perfection which is hard to find in Glasgow! Very happy with the portion size of mussels, it’s often too small, not here. Deserts were spot on and all at quite hard to believe value! I feel if we got everything we ordered here at ORO on Kilmarnock road it would have been double the price. Thank you we’ll be back in no time.

First time visiting for lunch with my family, who had just arrived after a 14-hour flight. We arrived 15 minutes early and were seated quickly. Staff were very attentive, especially helping us order due to my toddler’s cow’s milk allergy, which is tricky with Italian food. The food was delicious — pasta was cooked perfectly, and the risotto was outstanding. Some dishes were a bit spicy for my family, who aren’t used to spicy food. Desserts were lovely too; the tiramisu had a lighter coffee flavour than we’re used to, but still very enjoyable. Only downside: the wait for the main courses was quite long (about 45–50 minutes), and with a 1.5-hour dining limit, it felt rushed. Would be better if desserts could be ordered together with the mains. Overall, a great meal with friendly service

The profiteroles are the best I've ever had, highly recommend! Incredible menu and worth a visit if you're feeling something Italian. I went here for a friend's birthday and the service was brilliant. Considering how many people we had (15 or so) all our food was hot and came out in very good time. Thank you to all the staff who made the evening so lovely ❤️

A group of us went here for food, the pizzas and starters were ok. However my partner found a long black hair in his Arancini balls, which he complained to them and they took it off the bill, when we came to pay they were quite rude about the fact we didn’t want to pay the service charge, which we then said, why would we when we found hair in the food & the men’s toilet had loads of cigarette butts in the sink & no hand wash in the bathrooms. I’ll give an overall 2 star rating because some staff were ok at their job (apart from the red haired lady)& the starters were good.

We used to come here a lot over the years every time we visited Hartlepool. However since it has been taken over we had a really bad experience. The manager served an alcoholic cocktail to an 8 year old child and then denied it, we gave him the benefit of the doubt thinking he may have thought it was mocktail. Two chicken dishes arrived on the table which looked inedible as you could clearly see veins, and skin still left on the plate, and the cream sauce had all curdled on the plate as though it had been standing under the lamps for a long time. I won’t be coming back again, it’s a shame the old manager left as that’s the last time I’ve heard it’s been run properly

This is my favourite Restaurant, service brilliant and the food is delicious. Price is very economical, for a night out.

Went and enjoyed a valentines meal here and the food was amazing! All served in great time and tastes fantastic! The steak melted in my mouth and cooked perfectly for me. The only issue which isn't awful was that they had forgotten to bring our bottle of wine until we had to prompt and ask for it again. Service apart from that was great and they were friendly. Would definitely recommend and would love to go again.

Where did the last 6 years go?? We waited far too long to revisit this gem of a restaurant, yet it felt like yesterday! Amazing menu, delicious food, wonderful ambience and service, 5 stars doesn't do it justice! Massive thanks to Andy, Jo and all the staff for making our family meal so special 😋 xx

We had a fantastic meal yesterday. The food was so tasty. The staff, although very busy, were helpful and efficient. This is our second visit. We were not disappointed.

We had a fantastic Italian meal here last night and dined on the early dinner menu. I booked a table online and had really quick response to confirm booking. The only reason this isn't 5 * is because the al la carte menu was the only menu handed to us when we sat down and I had to ask for the early dinner menu. Perhaps a simple mistake but certainly saved us a considerable amount of money having 4 to dine. Would highly recommend the carbonara, it's probably the best I've ever had. Our kids took the bruschetta starters which were incredibly fresh and delicious. The restaurant itself has a lot of stairs and is not disabled friendly unfortunately, it appears to be an old town house conversion. All in an absolutely excellent place for a meal and would highly recommend as we couldn't fault the food at all.
